PoliticsRe: "Portharcourt Will Eventually Become The Capital Of Biafra"- Nnamdi Kanu by Dogogo1900: 11:58am On Jul 27, 2020
kingzizzy:
The leader of the indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB) and director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, stated that he believes that Portharcourt will eventually become the capital of Biafra. Kanu stated this during his broadcast of Sunday July 26th. Kanu said that although it will be up to Biafrans to decide where their capital will be, he believed that Igweocha(Portharcourt) would emerge as capital.

Kanu said that Portharcourt, as the centre of the Oil and gas industry in Nigeria, should have developed on the level of Abuja, if not more, but that the Oil wealth of the area was taken up North to build Abuja, at the expense of Portharcourt indigenes

Kanu ended by saying that when Portharcourt becomes the capital of Biafra, the Biafran government would initiate a 75 year development plan that will see most of the houses and substandard structures in Portharcourt knocked down and a world class city built in its place

What's Osibanjo's strategy?
You need political structure to contest elections, you can't build your strategies on someone else's structure.

PoliticsRe: North Was About To Secede From Nigeria But Were Reminded Of The Oil In The East by Dogogo1900: 3:37pm On Jul 04, 2020
kingzizzy:
Do you know that the Northern Region of Nigeria was about to secede and declare Arewa Republic on the 1st of August 1966 when they were reminded of the vast Oil wealth in the Eastern Region? They then changed tune and decided to go for one united Nigeria as long as Nigeria was under their control.

On July 29th 1966, Lt Col Murtala Mohammed led young Northern military officers such as Lt Sani Abacha, Lt Ibrahim Babangida, Lt Muhammadu Buhari, Lt Garba Duba, Lt Jeremiah Useni and many others to stage a coup. The aim of the coup was to achieve two objectives. First was to avenge the previous coup that had been dubbed an "Igbo coup". The second objective was for the North to secede from Nigeria. The code name for this coup was "operation araba"(operation seperate)

Having staged the coup and murdered over 300 Igbo officers including the head of state, General Ironsi, Murtala Mohammed and his fellow coup plotters felt that the first objective had been achieved. Now they moved to secede the North out of Nigeria. On the 30th of July, Murtala Mohammed and the ring leaders of the coup took over Ikeja baraks and made it their operational base. They hoisted a strange looking flag at the main entrance to the baracks which they said would be the flag of the Republic of Northern Nigeria. They took over Lagos Airport and were putting finishing touches to flying themselves and their families out of Lagos to Kaduna where they would be met by the Military Governor of the Northern Region, Lt Colonel Katsina. They would then declare Arewa Republic on the 1st of August 1966.

The Chief of General Staff, Brigadier Ogundipe, sent Lt Col Gowon, who was at the time the Chief Of Army Staff and the most senior officer from the North, to mediate with the coup plotters in Ikeja Barak. Murtala Mohammed flatly rejected any form of mediation and informed Gowon that he had been in touch with all the traditional rulers and stakeholders in the North and they had all unanimously agreed that the North should pull out of the Nigerian Federation. Gowon reported back to Ogundipe. Ogundipe sent Gowon back to Ikeja Baraks a second time to convince the coup plotters to drop their secessionist plans and bring their grievances to the table. This time around, Murtala Mohammed lost his patience with Gowon and had him detained. He told Gowon that that he be would be flying with them to Kaduna where he would join them to declare secession of the North, and that all that remained was to inform the British authorities of what was about to happen.

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Sir David Hunt, was contacted on the phone and made aware of the plans of the North to secede, he protested vehemently against it. He told Murtala Mohammed and his fellow coupists that the North could not survive without the South because the economic base of Nigeria was in the South. The coup plotters were still insistent on the North seceding stating that the agricultural potential of the North was enough to sustain it. Sir David Hunt then revealed to the coup plotters that with the huge deposits of Oil and gas in the Eastern Region and the projected rise in Oil prices, the Eastern Region was about to reap huge profits that would far outweigh the agricultural production of the North. He told them that if they seceded now, they would be denying the North a good slice of those oil profits. He suggested to them that rather than secede, they should take over Nigeria.

On realising the Oil fortune they were about to deny themselves, the tune changed to "one Nigeria". Gowon, who was the highest ranking Northerner, was chosen to become Head of State. Rather than declare Arewa Republic on August 1st 1966, Gowon was sworn in instead. Gowon would go on to act the script of the North by removing resource control, placing Oil production in the hands of the federal government, abolishing the Regions and giving the North the most states and local governments, to ensure that the North benefited most from the Oil money.

Whiteangel1234:
South East and by extension the Igbos have the single and biggest voting block in Nigeria we are the most united Politically in Nigeria after the North what some people called putting all eggs in one basket is what i called rare Political Unity and voting block.
South West are the most disunited and they hide this weakness under the mantras of not putting all their eggs in 1 basket .

If APC want to survive beyond 2023 it must get the Igbos And south East Support by zoning the presidency to us . If APC decide not to do zoning and allow every Nigerian to contest then we have no problem with that arrangement but if they decide to zone the Presidency to the south After Buhari then it must be strictly for the South East alone the only Zone in the south yet to produce Nigeria Presidency after 24 years of our new Democracy .

If APC give their presidential ticket to the south West then the south East and All Igbos in Nigeria will mobilize and give Block vote to a PDP Strong Northern Candidate with an Igbo Vice President . We have the Population our people are in all states in Nigeria , its on record that Tinubu could not even deliver Lagos 60% to APC and Buhari without resorting to self help , thuggery and destruction of Polling booths in Igbo dominated area of Lagos , we also control Abuja and all major states in Nigeria plus Block Vote in the South East.

igbos have the population but we are not too much interested in politics or vote but be assure if their is clear case of injustice our people will be fully mobilized like wartime and every single igbo man home and abroad will vote !!

PoliticsRe: 2023: Why Igbos Should Support Amaechi For President Or Loose Out by Dogogo1900: 10:09am On Jul 02, 2020
IkwerrePikin:
Rotimi Amaechi is the best bet for the Igbos come 2023 even as he has declared himself an Igbo man in several occasions! Though his kinsmen from the Ikwerre ethnic nationality has always made it clear over the years that they are not Igbos but Ikwerre people who trace their origin to Benin Kingdom which the Oba of Benin just like his late father also confirmed on his visit to Port harcourt.

But the truth is that, Rotimi Amaechi is more acceptable to Nigerians especially to the Yorubas and Hausa-Fulani compare to any Igbo politician today.

Rotimi Amaechi who is so loved by Buhari, was a former speak 8yrs, Governor 8yrs, Gov forums chairman, Minister 8yrs and Campaign director general that defeated PDP and brought Apc to power, he is greater than all Igbo politicans put together and have achieved more In terms of leadership, popularity more than any igbo politician today!

The bitter truth is: Majority of Nigerians are not comfortable voting an Igbo man because you play ethnic politics, you guys are too tribalistic and Nigerians can’t trust you with Nnamdi Kanu biafran struggle.

The igbos better drum support for Rotimi Amaechi now because he is the only person that can help you Igbos when he gets there. He is far better than the hausa-fulani or Yoruba with his Igbo wife from Anambra. Though Ikwerre people have always maintained their Benin Origin, most Igbos see Rotimi Amaechi as Igbo because in today Nigeria, Igbo President can not be achieved now.

Nobody will give you President, you have to fight for it! If Igbo say they have not ruled what about Urhobor,Ibibio,Ogoni and so on?? Stop playing ethnic politics, face reality, and go for what you know you can achieve and benefit from. If you igbos want to play politics base on ethnicity you will loose and keep losing!

As it stance, the igbos are confused with Biafra and Nigeria. Nobody is forcing you to remain in Nigeria, and Nigerians will not beg you people to remain Nigerians with Presidency, it can not happen, else another region will come out tomorrow to threaten Nigeria existence with demand for presidency.

if you want to be President fight for it, stop going on social media and newspapers saying Igbo have turn, who gave you the turn? where was it written? What about other tribes that have not ruled before in the Niger delta but have been feeding Nigeria for years? Ijaw, ikwerre, Ibibio, Urhobor, Benin are different ethnic groups just like the Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa and so on!

So stop the Igbo have turn ideology, because it won’t work that way, if want to be President fight for it and you will achieve it with time and not by saying Igbo have turn, it doesn’t work that way.

Rotimi Amaechi, with his Yoruba name, Igbo name and from the Niger delta region, signifies a Southern Unity and we all know Amaechi is less corrupt, honest, hardworking and fair in his style of leadership over the years from Speaker to the position he is now!

No Politician in Southern Nigeria today can stand Rotimi Amaechi in terms of political experience and achievement with numerous positions he has occupied over the years till date.

I know igbos on Nairaland will not like this but this is their best bet and the real Igbos know this!

It pains me how these guys have brought shame to igboland they have made us look like land grabbers ,it's pains me how this bini people(as they claim) flew through the air and landed in igboland ,adopted our language, our names and counting system ofu to iri loosing theirs .please and please ikas and Ikwerres should never be part of BiAfra I will denounce my biafran citizenship if they are included in BiAfran map, there is absolutely nothing to gain if they are part of BiAfra they don't have direct access to the sea, they don't have good arable land they occupy a very small land mass.

I stopped taking Rivers people serious when I discovered that we have egbema people in both river and imo state , the ones in imo claim they are Igbos the ones in Rivers claim the are not Igbos yet they are one egbema people you see politics over common sense? angry.

I prefer biafra with aniomas ( 50% accept theyr Igbo origin ),obigbos and opobo they rest are irrelevant,I would rather have have a sincere fulani or Hausa man in biafra than having an Ikwerre or ika man.

IkwerrePikin:
Let me tell you, in Nigeria politics tribe or ethnicity is not always considered by political parties if it would not benefit them!

There is a clamor for Southern/Igbo presidency, but an Igbo presidential candidate irrespective of the political part in today’s Nigeria with series of Biafran threat to break out of Nigeria, it would be difficult for Nigerians to support an Igbo man, because tomorrow another region will come with it’s own threat to break out if not given the presidential ticket.

Why North Will Choose Amaechi:

With the clamor for Igbo/Southern presidency, the north may consider to support Rotimi Amaechi whom they trust more from the Ikwerre ethnic group in Rivers state who are more pro Nigeria than the Igbos even though the Ikwerre people have made it clear right from time that they are not Igbos but rather Ikwerre who trace their ancestors to the Great Benin Kingdom (Oba of Benin confirmed this on his visit to PH, R/S), though some Igbo people have always confronted the Ikwerres claiming they are igbos due to the similarities in names and language with the Ikwerre people.

1. Rotimi Amaechi who have claimed in several occasions to be an Igbo man is so loved by Buhari and trusted to the point of appointing him minister In one of the biggest ministry twice even with the confrontation from the senate and other groups.

2. Rotimi Amaechi who is more pro Nigeria is seen as an Igbo man by the Igbos including the popular IPOB group, with this if he is supported by the North with his Igbo wife from Abia state, Rotimi Amaechi will be able to win majority votes from the South East hereby getting APC into the South East. Don’t forget that with Rotimi Amaechi and his yoruba-igbo name signifies a Southern Unity and he is likely to win majority vote from the South East, South South and also from the South West as he would be more accepted and trusted than an Igbo candidate from South East due to the Biafra threat to Nigeria today.

3. Rotimi Amaechi has a great record and experience as former Speaker, Governor, Chairman Nigerian governors forum, Minister twice with great record of managing the campaign train as director general that brought the opposition party Apc to power.

4. If Apc wants to retain power as it moves to the Southern part, it must present a candidate that would be accepted across the South, with a VP from the North with help from Buhari and top Northern politicans Apc will be able to win 2023 presidency.

5. With power moving to the South, there is no APC politician from the South than can stand Rotimi Amaechi, in terms of popularity and with the number of political positions and experience Amaechi has achieved over the years. He his popularly know to have never lost a political battle before in his political carrier.

Some igbos man say he is Ikwerre and not Igbo and can never claim Igbo just because he wants to be president so they will not support him, but let me tell you majority of Igbos out there with that name “Amaechi” on a postal will gladly support him more than an Atiku or anyone else who is not Igbo.

I see Amaechi 2023...Who do you see and why??
