nairalanda1:Because no one would have invested in them without the now passed PIB. Also subsidy was removed just 3ys ago and you expect refineries that take on average 5 to ten years to complete being fully operational by now? How long did it take Dangote to complete his refinery |
SonOfWords:It's beyond your pay grade. Move along |
Why has trader Obi not progressed beyond his buying and selling retail venture ? Dangote started as a trader and mainly importer of rice and sugar but today he owns companies across the polity and continent that actually produce stuff we need. If Dangote as a trader could see that producing is the only way to generate both personal wealth and jobs for others ,!why did Obi never evolve beyond the simple trader ? Obi claimed he generates wealth by importing foreign goods at the detriment of local production. He claims he can somehow use this wastefull model to transform Nigeria from consumption to production by importing foreign goods at the detriment of local production and real wealth creation. There is a reason why Dangote is a billionaire today and obi is a desperate politician begging to do just one term in office. |
Justnation:Every billionaire got to where they are through monopoly. See Rockefeller, Gates and even Elon Musk. Musk was able to influence the Trump WH to ban Chinese EVs because they were better and cheaper than his crappy cars |
SonOfWords:Dangote is also importing crude from the US and Canada and his business model is to replicate the Indian petrochemical refining plants that are cited in India but refine and sell most of the imported Canadian and US crude back to these countries Refineries across the US and Canada are shutting down over a wave of class action suits by communities were they are sited for heavy pollution leading to permanent and often terminal health conditions Dangote siting his refinery in the Lekki FTZ was originally to cater exclusively the US and Canadian markets and not domestic market. Trump's tarrif on imports is probably hurting his export of refined products to the US coupled with FG insisting he must buy crude from the NNPC instead of the US if intends to continue enjoying domestic market share and the benefits of operating in an EPZ. |
muykem:That's why the importers must remain as they are creating a healthy free market economy although these same importers were once operating as a cartel and fixing fuel prices . |
helinues:That's how they decieved themselves in Edo, Abuja and Anambra elections . Akpata's lost the elections so badly he refused to contest the loss in court despite all their online noise that non existing obedients in Edo outside the handful of noisemakers online will see Akpata through victory. Same thing repeated itself at the Anambra gubernatorial elections that even Obi lost his polling unit and ward to Solodu despite Obi's endorsement of the ADC candidate and him coming out to vote. The same pathetic situation repeated itself at the council elections across the FCT with Obi's endorsed candidate whom Obi campaigned for losing by a landslide . |
joseph1832:Why is it so hard for you guys to read? |
The only thing I observed recently about your obi is him attacking his supposed running mate and VP nominee , Kwankwasso and saying as a trader he is more qualified than the PhD holder claiming further that trading is the hardest profession. That should tell anyone that Giringori now knows Kwankwasso will contest the NDC ticket. |
kpankpangolo:Did you read where it was stated by her lawyer that they are trying to resolve the matter with the primary complainant who she duped of #36m and the complainant stating he will withdraw his complaint once she refunds the balance of #12million? The Govt prosecutor however objected and stated that the case is now between her and the government for contravening the laws of the land This case has nothing to do with her online false cancer diagnosis although I suspect that the Govt prosecutor will bring it up as evidence against her that she has a habit of exploiting the public for financial gain and bring up the faked medical report exposing the extent she will go to decisive the public . |
Last I checked, it was Murtala as HoS that nationalized Nigeria's oil deposits and later on, it was his successor , Obasanjo that first introduced fuel subsidy. Prior to Murtala nationalizing Nigeria's crude oil deposits and with Obasanjo introducing subsidies only after the commissioning of three state ran refineries , it was unthinkable by past administrations including the military junta of Gowon to even introduce subsidies on fuel. This was because prior to nationalizing crude oil deposits, the foreign oil companies only paid mining rights and taxes on the crude they extracted and sold the refined fuel at market prices . Since Gowon did not nationalise crude and at the same time was yet to begin construction of refineries which he ought to have prioritized be it state owned or private, subsidizing fuel was not in anyway financially responsible. Also, note that subsequent military juntas kept the fuel subsidy in place to placate the public that never consented to be ruled by them. Popularity among the masses was a key criteria of military dictatorship since no one consented to being ruled by military dictatorship . This is how fuel subsidy became integral policy by subsequent military juntas. Also note that virtually all military takeovers justified their actions on growing unpopularity of the regime they were overthrowing as their paramount reason for. seizing power. So if I may ask, how was life prior to Obasanjo's fuel subsidy introduction ? |
Harvesttony:It wasn't a joke as she intended to use it to raise money to settle her creditors who have taken her to court and she also intended to use the fake cancer diagnosis to garner public sympathy and leniency from the judge . She might even have intended to use it to get pre and post conviction bail thereby committing pejury. |
kpankpangolo:That's not what she is being arraigned for. This is a separate matter involving a lone individual she duped of his or her money. Even at that, obtaining under false pretext as she did with her fake cancer claim is still fraud and when you consider that she even presented a forged medical report issued by a govt owned Medical centre , it gets even worse I don't even understand how anyone can be defending fraud as you are doing. |
malakaimoscondo:Kaduna south is a reflection of the NC even though it isn't part of the region. You can also use Benue and Taraba as reference. These three region /states voted for Obi but that won't repeat itself as they see this administration tackling the menace of fulani terrorists headlong. Even Plateu will vote Tinubu rather than your obi. Obi was a fluke and he could not even manage his allure one year into Tinubu's govt. |
So zoning is only good for Presidential ticket but bad for Mbaise. These people never domesticate whatever nonsense they are championing in other regions or at the Federal level. |
Freshtruth:And under same Tinubu govt, Dangote is suing the appointed AGF for issuing permits. Why do you guys reason with your feet? |
As much as importation of refined fuel is ret@rded , Dangote should know that these importers have a right to do business which they have been doing long before Dangote refinery came into existence. The AGF can also be sued by these same importers if he withdraws their permits as the importers were incorporated under law as fuel importers. The FG simply has to implement tariff regime on importers to force them to diverge into refining here in Nigeria. Also the AGF may be granting these renewals on permits to importers to prevent Dangote becoming a monopoly in the energy sector as this also contravenes existing laws. |
kpankpangolo:She duped someone of his or her money and you are saying you don't see anything wrong in what she did. Fraud is a criminal offense the world over if you think it's normal hustle in your own neck of the woods, it isn't it |
This may be the reason she came out with that fake breast cancer claim hoping to garner pity from the public and to use it as an excuse to fool the judge to be lenient on her. Now the Prosecution will use that fake cancer claim and her forging of a medical report from a Federal medical centre complete with faked stamp and signature of a medical doctor to argue that she has a history of duping the public and people she encounters. She go snell kirikiri |
malakaimoscondo:If Tinubu can not win the north, is it obi that will defeat Atiku ? Tinubu does not need to win the core north GEJ never won the north when he first contested in 2011. The north central is critical to any southerner hoping to win the presidential elections as that is the real determining factor in Nigeria's presidential elections and so far, Tinubu has now rock solid support there. Do you guys think the northern minority tribes who happen to be facing full brunt of fulani terrorist land grab will vote another fulani after all they went through under Buhari's fulani govt? Tinubu just needs 30% across the core north , a win in the NC , SW and SS. Atiku can have the core north while your obi, if he gets on the ballot, can keep the SE. |
Newlight777:I have always maintained that a tax funded govt will make Nigerians sit up and demand accountability from their elected politicians. If you guys are the ones actually funding the govt at all levels you won't be so lax towards your elected officials but since the money comes from oil siphoned from the Niger Delta you all turn a blind eye . This scenario is more adept to the SE - a region that depends wholly on Federal handouts and takes more than it contributes by up to ten folds. There seems to be an unwritten agreement in the SE that their governors should be able to recoup their investment in running for office and so little or no accountability by their elected officials as long as there is not tax yoke on the populace. This is why SE has the lowest revenue drive among southern states. Also, SE has always aligned with the core north to maintain the exploitation of the Niger Delta by voting to deny SS fair share in their oil wealth. If you guys were actually funding your government at the state and local level and not so dependent on FG handouts, you will focus more on how your politicians and elected officials are spending their accrued revenue but since the funds do not come out of your pockets you don't care if they loot you dry. |
Chibuezem:It has always been spelt as ibo by the people who own the alphabet you are using. The switch to Igbo from ibo happened in the late 70s and is only used by you guys Academic historians and scholars in the west warned of the change as they rightly claim , was a subtle move by you guys to deny in future historic documents that portrayed you guys in the negative light. A Yoruba guy here even said it was an attempt to claim anywhere in Yoruba land that had Igbo affixtion as Igbo in Yoruba means bush or forest and this poster claimed it was a long con game to claim anywhere Igbo is affixed to names of Yoruba settlements as ancient ibo land. |
Chibuezem:Then how will that become everyone's fight? It will be between you guys and Fulani - tit for tat |
Streetinvestor2:Why not declare obi as President for life and crown him dictator while you are at it |
SmartPolician:See this one? I even did a thread here a week ago that rebutted that lie of the NDC zoning their ticket by quoting the deputy National spokesperson of the NDC who denied their party zoning the ticket. The individual who spread that lie is an aide to Kwankwasso and he was not in position to speak on behalf of the party. Tell us when and where did NDC party officials meet to discuss zoning . |
esnbrutality:Pain? Cry blood? You are the one constituting nuisance all over this forum with your senseless posts . By next week Kwankwasso go pick and submit his form |
esnbrutality:And I responded by telling you and the person I responded to to go and ask Grok or any AI of your choice on the true situation in NDC which is, that the party has since officially denied zoning their ticket. Maybe your Obi has finally settled to be running mate to kwankwasso. |
esnbrutality:your nuisance level will reduce when giringori finally runs away from NDC days before their primaries. Kwankwasso will soon pick his form and your eye go clear. |
esnbrutality:The NDC deputy national chairman has since debunked that lie and said their party is yet to agree on zoning their ticket You can ask your favourite grokAi to tell you better. NDC is yet to officially zone their ticket and if they were to do so, they would have stated this in their timetable and guidelines for the primaries Keep recieving yourself |
LagosOrigin:The national deputy spokesperson for the NPC has since debunked this as false and said the party is yet to agree on adopting zoning their presidential slot. The article you posted was based on a spokesperson and ally to Kwankwasso who issued that statement to obviously get Obi to defect to the NDC. Kwankwasso is playing una head |
LagosOrigin:When did this happen? Provide a credible source on when the NDC zoned their presidential ticket to the south. |
