DjAndroid:
My lay - man's opinion on some issues raised in this thread.
https://www.nairaland.com/2562826/why-never-use-tecno-phones

That your brand of Tecno can't be upgraded OTA is not enough to say it is a scam. Samsung galaxy note 3 and galaxy S5 were the first and only two phones (not sure though) that came with USB 3.0. But the succeeding galaxy note 4 was launched with USB 2.0 -a downgrade. Will it be said that Samsung is a scam?

You dumped Tecno for Infinix? grin grin grin
You are still where you were. Are both of them not MTK devices? They are! They use mediatek processor with some others including:
Alcatel
Gionee
HTC
Huawei
Lenovo
Xiaomi ......etc.

So, when the Op, said he dumped Tecno, I expected to hear that he went for something higher, with a qualcomm snapdragon but I was disappointed to hear "infinix".Apart form the OTA update, can you tell other differences between the tecno and the infinix?

You updated you new infinix hot note from 4.4 to 5.1 and call it "value for money" that's your opinion cos
I wonder what that really means. I have compared my colleague's galaxy note 4 running lollipop and my note3 running kitkat and saw no reason to upgrade.

Lastly, I think Tecno is more expensive because it is the most popular among those MTK devices. As Your infinix is becoming popular, the price will also be increasing too.

You enjoyed the FLAGSHIP, ALMIGHTY(according to you) tecno phantom z, but when you discovered you can't upgrade OTA, you labelled it a "scam" bros that singular deficiency is not enough for the name calling.

My humble opinion.

Note: I dont use Tecno.
Dude you was making sense till you mentioned HTC, the people who birthed Android phones. Because they produced an MTK device this year doesn't make HTC a Mediatek device. Are you aware HTC also has a Windows phone? Does that make the brand HTC a Windows device? HTC remains the first Android device and the best. Don't ever compare that brand to another.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Checkout 20 Things Recruiters Do Not Want To See On Your CV by donclark(m): 4:41am On Jul 21, 2015
There's a difference between cv and resume, we always seem to confuse them. Cvs are used in Africa while resumes are used in the US, Canada...

Always note what the company asks for. If they ask for cv, you're free to write me than two pages unless you are a fresh graduate.

Cvs are always constant and can be used fur every jobs, whereas resumes shouldn't be me than 2-4 pages. Resumes should be changed based in the job you're applying for.

Simply put, Cvs are basically your job experiences, education and background in full while resumes are a summary of your cv for a particular job.

And one thing, always use Interests or Extracurricular Activities instead of hobbies please.

Politics2015 Elections: Buhari Or Jonathan by donclark(op):
The fever and tension is growing high, the electorates are growing more confused with all the campaigns of the two presidential candidates (Yes I say two cause the others are just wasting money and time) and their followers trying to convince them with various campaigns.

Before I move, I'd like to give this disclaimer:
This article is from an unbiased view. I'm neither PDP nor APC. I'm not one who's even into politics but as a Nigerian. I am just stating from my careful study.

Few years ago, we all clamoured for a saviour in Nigeria, someone of the masses, someone who knew us and is ready to fight for us. There came a certain very meek and humble Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, loved by the people and Nigeria was expected to hit a certain paradise.

Fast forward today, Jonathan is the enemy, he is the reason for our continuous downfall, everyone hates him and want him out. And their reasons being he is incompetent, he is too weak, he is corrupt and so many of them. Nigeria is a country that has been destroyed years back and I wonder how 6 years can be enough to repair a country. Corruption has been there for years and except you want a man who rules with an iron fist, corruption cannot be driven away in so short a time. People say Jonathan is weak but you forget what it means to be meek? His quietness has made so many people see him as being weak when its his nature.

When I ask people what they want this time around, all I hear is change! And I ask them, what has changed in the APC that is dominated by defected PDP members? Aren't they all the same? What guarantees do you have that they won't steal if you called PDP corrupt? You know I used to think the bad eggs from PDP were the ones who defected to APC when they couldn't get all they wanted from PDP - my funny thoughts though.

Buhari is a good man I respect and believe he'd be a great president but so many controversies follow the man. I want us to carefully examine the man Buhari before we all decide cause what I have come to see in the electorates are so many people jump on the bandwagon. So many young Nigerians are too weak to read or look into our history. The first thing I want to point out is Buhari achieved so much; he achieved a lot as MILITARY head of state in less than 2 years that we all clamour
for his return. But what we all forget is he was in the military. With my experience in the military, if Jonathan was a military head of state, Nigeria would have been so much a better place by now. We all forget that in the military, all it takes for change is just one word of command; GO! and everyone moves. We all forget Buhari had the military to command to bring all the orderliness and corrupt officials to book. He had the military to command to bring drug dealers to book and have them killed. Yet he had a certain guy called Brig. Gen Tunde Idiagbon who was there to help him dictate whenever he makes these decisions and when that guy was away to Saudi Arabia, his government was dethroned.

What I am trying to say is, its been so long and he had a vulnerable Nigeria to control with his military upper hand. How will he survive in a country with democracy? How will he survive in a country where Amnesty Internation have their eyes all fixed on? Most of his successes came when he was a military commander that knows nothing order than give a command that must be followed; how would he thrive in a country where the House of Reps and House of Senate are comprised of people with different orientation coming together to box their way into agreements and disagreements? Would he force them? Besides, he says he would imprison corrupt officials, would he start from his party heads?

People say he declared War against indiscipline, he executed drug dealers and I ask aren't these signs of dictatorship if he achieved all that in less than 2 years? Yes the man has zero tolerance for indiscipline but throwing people into kirikiri without giving them fair trials, is that what we call democracy?

Coming to the discussion islamizing Nigeria, I do not think that Buhari would Ismalize Nigeria, that has never been his plan. When people quote his comment on a tabloid he made several years ago, some Buhari faithfuls remind them of the part where he said, he would make sure sharia gets to all parts of Nigeria and educate non-muslims that they do not have to fear. That exactly is what he intended to do; make sure sharia spreads to all parts of Nigeria where there are muslims, all mosques in all Nigeria but non muslims do not have to fear cause sharia isn't for them. Fair enough, but have you thought of this; if he still intends to carry out this promise, would you be able to stand where a muslim friend of yours in your area looses his hand cause he went against the sharia laws? Won't that bring the international focus on Nigeria again? I hope this isn't what he meant though. I hope this doesn't happen if he wins.

The man Buhari achieved a lot in his time I reiterate, but while achieving all these, he committed a lot against human rights, he had people killed, thrown in jail and all that. But welcome to Nigeria were the sins of a man is forgiven so easily when they feel there are no alternatives. Whatever happened to APC fielding a Fashola or even Tambuwal; why Buhari for the 4th time after he had said he wouldn't be vying for the post again. Did someone compel him? Did someone promise him something in exchange for something? Even the so called politicians now forgive so easily or should I say scales fell off their eyes? Here's a statement from El-Rufai about 4 years ago:

"General Buhari has remained perpetually unelectable because his record as military head of state, and afterwards, is a warning that many Nigerians have wisely heeded. His insensitivity to Nigeria’s diversity and his parochial focus are already well-known.”

So El-Rufai changed his persectives after he decamped to the APC? What about the well publicised comments from Tinubu years back? smh!

Buhari himself made this comment when he said he wouldn't be running for presidency again in 2011. He said:

“Nigerian politicians have no one to blame but themselves when they find themselves out in the cold. They are their own worst enemies. They have little commitment to democracy beyond Election Day. As I said elsewhere, many Nigerian politicians are not true democrats; they are democrats of convenience- extolling the virtues of democracy when they campaign, that’s the rule of the jungle with the added burden of having to vote for it. Conversely, when they lose, politicians refuse to accept the verdicts and invite the military to return.”

I don't think intelligent men should make comments and come back to eat their vomits. They are always careful to make comments so they stand for it whenever they are brought up.

We all agree the man from Otuoke is too slow. 6 year is enough to make viable changes that would shake the Nation and people would have to speak for you rather than more people speak against you. But is accepting the old general the way forward? Are there no better candidates the APC could field except the crown was promised to Buhari? We want good roads, we want electricity, we want a corrupt free Nation, we want jobs and we want security. These are basic stuffs but won't we be patient to get them if we were patient enough for over 50 years? Why the sudden clamour for change? Are Nigerians just waking up or simply the APC imbibing into the electorates? Strategy you say. But these things we cry for are like building a firm, you take time to build each of the sectors.
Any man that says he'll drive away corruption in less than a year without using force is deceiving you I'm sorry to say. Any man that says he would bring steady light in Nigeria within a year and still chase away insurgency in that same year is deceiving you. Multitasking isn't exactly something a Nigerian government is good at. Jonathan isn't the best, we know these but do we want an iron fist back? We have to sit down and ask ourselves.

I think we all heard about the $20billon oil scam, the two failed arms deal in South Africa and a lot more. From my own perspective, I think all these were found out because this government haven't imposed themselves on anyone like the previous governments. This government have given freedom of speech and haven't arrested or imbibe fear on individuals to make them shut up unlike previous government.

Is Buhari the saviour we now seek in 2015 just as we seeked few years ago? Has he suddenly changed to be that saint that we have so forgiven his dictatorship in a well developed civilized Nigeria? Has he suddenly become a democrat that Tinubu and the likes of El-Rufai now turned ties with him? One thing I only see here is, Buhari of 2007, 2011 is not the same as Buhari of today. However side or perspective you see this from.

And lest I forget, Buhari has said he would abolish the office of the first lady, does that mean he doesn't need his wife around him or he is being too strict and thinks he could work alone? Just like a Nigerian writer said: "If your own spouse is not at the forefront of your dream, it could be interpreted in several ways. One is that the woman does not believe in you enough, or that you do not have faith in her abilities, or you are the alpha male who believes women should be seen and not heard. Any which way, it does not look good." Does Buhari really believe in woman empowerment?

At the end, it is one man one vote, and I believe if it stays this way - free and fair - Buhari might just nab it as APC looks to be winning the election campaign already with their strategies. They're succeeding in turning the heads of the masses as the PDP continues to shoot itself by the foot with the level Reno Omokri and his cohorts have stooped to.

And at the very end, one man will eventually emerge, and Nigerians will accept him no matter who it is. There might be post election violence, court cases, but one man will be president and we will end up accepting him just as we've done for over 50 years now.

For me, I haven't made up my mind yet on whom I would vote, I might end up not voting, but if I do go up there to vote, I'd make sure I vote whom I'd end up not regretting. I'm sure not ready to take risks on the clamour for change!

Make up your mind and vote, do not get carried away by each of the parties. Vote wisely!

This is gross and sickening. Controversial Ghanaian pastor known as Bishop Daniel Obinim is videoed stepping on the stomach of a pregnant woman he was praying for. Nairaland GeneralVIDEO: Flying Bird Turn To Old Woman In Oshodi by donclark(op): 11:14pm On Oct 10, 2014

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4zwzYclK2w

A bird flying in Lagos has reportedly crashed in Oshodi, Lagos this morning at around 11 am. The bird was said to have been brought down by the high-tension electric wire on which it stood on and immediately turned into an old woman.

When .com.ng got to the scene, an old naked woman with an inflamed skin could be seen weeping in pains as the flesh on her skin have all been peeled as visible evidence of a burnt skin. It was as if she had just stepped out of a burning vehicle or someone who was set ablaze. The second layer of her skin was visibly red-white as she kept weeping.

There were police and LASTMA officials on ground who protected the naked old woman from the crowds who were eager to lynch on her. the police made sure no one came close to her as she kept weeping in pains.... Peep the video we recorded after the jump:

According to those who heard her speak, she was on her way to see her daughter and some said she also confessed that she killed her husband. She later died and was whisked away in a Police van

Nairaland GeneralThe Lindaikeji Story: What You Really Don' t Know by donclark(op):

I had so many peeps buzzing and asking why I didn't write on the Lindaikeji story and my response was that it was none of my business. I started blogging in 2010 and I must confess I was inspired by Lindaikeji who though was inspired by Uche Pedro of Bellanaija, has become the most successful blogger in Nigeria if not Africa.

You see the thing about google is that they're a modern day 'no nonsense' business outfit that who when a customer files a report about its staffs, they do not listen to the staffs complaint and fire the staff. Linda's case is similar. Google have some strict TOCs and one of the terms are they reserving the rights to delete your contents without any prior notice. They just don't care who you are, they take it down.

I remember my first blog when I started in 2010, it became a hit that I had a deal with CNN over the ALUU4 video (the video of 4 UNIPORT student what were gruesomely murdered in 2012). I obtained the video first and uploaded it on Youtube. CNN just got in contact with me that they would like to use the video and we negotiated and I got a cool cash from them wired straight to my Nigerian account and they were also to give me link backs. Few weeks later, peeps pinged to ask what happened to my blog, I was shocked when I checked and my blog was deleted with no explanation. I found out later I was reported for uploading a photo of a kid who was molested.

I was dejected and didn't blog for months cause I lost alot as all my Google accounts were deleted including gmail and adsense. I lost all my adsense revenues and the CNN contacts as we were only dealing via emails. Somehow in December 2012, I started this and I have truly never been the same again.

Linda's case might be different as she has revealed via her new blog [Yes she's back on her blog] It appears she and the Mr AyeDee guy who was a very good friend and confidant of hers, had a misunderstanding. But Linda had stepped on so many toes. Jim Iyke, Wizkid, Olamide, 9ice, Omoni Oboli to mention a few, have all filed a suite which were not acted on. But the AyeDee guy had the resources and got to her. Copyright infringement is a serious offence abroad and Google, who definitely owns lindaikeji..com, had no option than to act; especially after finding out she's breached alot.

Kemi Olunloyo had warned about copyright infringement and promised to get the likes of Lindaikeji's blog deleted but so many laughed off her claims.

I remember this year, I got a DMCA copyright infringement warning from Google over 2Face Idibia's 'Let somebody love you' song I had posted here. As i saw read the complaint made by 2Face's team, I wasted no time to delete the post and report back to google. I am sure Linda received such DMCA notice quite a number of times and also from the AyeDee guy but the thousands of emails she receives daily and ignore tell the stories now. Other celebs who had filed a DCMA report to Google maybe never followed on their suite but AyeDee had a mission.

I don't want to talk about the alleged plagiarism. It happens everywere in the world though I love to credit people, there are times we bloggers don't. For  instance, few weeks ago, one of the editors at Vanguard dug up a Jim Iyke and Kenturah Hamilton story and posted it. In a moment, it was all over the media. Top bloggers like Ladun Liadi had carried it. I saw the story and realised it was a story Stella Dimokokorkus had written exclusively laat year that I had also culled. Vanguard reposted an old story without crediting Stella!

Linda ignored so many advice to get a domain name for reasons best known to her. What she forgot was when you step on toes, then you must have a strong defence guard. You must protect yourself. people complain about her bragging but I see that as her business and choice. She feels she inspires people which obviously she does, but it only incites those whose toes, she had stepped on. Now the lesson is learnt, and though she's back now, she's probably learnt alot. I know she's obviously mad at google for not contacting her but if Google contacted everyone before deleting their accounts, then their TOCs are irrelevant.

Linda is now back on her blog as it appears the AyeDee guy has taken back is DMCA suite....but she's been quick to explain all that really happened. She explained why her blog was taken down as a selfish act from her friend Mr AyeDee. Find below:

With the shocking outbreak of Ebola in Africa this year -- the total death surpassing the total deaths of all the cases of the previous years in 1 year -- so many people have talked about some conspiracy theory and someone just drew my attention to this.

According to British author Chris Everard the deadly Ebola Virus is a Bio-weapon used against Blacks in Africa so that DIAMONDS can be stolen and he does not just say this, he has some facts to back his theory.

PoliticsCameroon Military Claim They Killed Abubakar Shekau by donclark(op): 1:19pm On Sep 22, 2014
[img]http://3.bp..com/-7l5LPypFV94/VCAHFZM9AMI/AAAAAAAAGes/Qy1jQdVIEO0/s1600/Shekaukilled%2BGossipBoyz.com.ng%2B.JPG[/img]
The Cameroonian army have released the photographs of the allegedly killed Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau to the public, claiming he was killed during a cross border raid deep inside Nigeria by the Cameroonian military.

A Cameroonian military source said that Abubakar Shekau was killed following an aerial bombardment of his hideout inside Nigeria. The Cameroon army has ever since yesterday been in serious combat against thousands of Boko Haram fighters trying to enter Cameroon via Fotokol from Gambaral Ngala in Nigeria.

However, the Facebook page in question has taken down the image,The Cameroonian army released a photograph of the leader of the radical Islamist group Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau. In the picture, the man whose head was last price is death.

Abubakar Shekau, is he dead? That's the question asked by the website Koaci which continues by questioning whether this death is the work of Cameroonian or Nigerian Army? At the root of these issues, a curious picture of the leader of Boko Haram posted on the internet of the Cameroonian army.

The site states that currently neither the Cameroonian army, let alone the Nigerian Army, have confirmed this information indicates that the photo was posted Saturday. Koaci went further by quoting some sources indicating that Shekau was killed during fighting with soldiers to Konduga in northeastern Nigeria border with Cameroon.

Note that this is not the first time the death of Abubakar Shekau is announced. A look in the rearview mirror us back in 2013, the JTF announced his death in a blaze..[read that here if you missed it] . In response, Abubakar Shekau did no better than posting a video of him when he promised to hit with a vengeance within Nigeria.

A week after soldiers stopped the Boko Haram insurgents from taking over Konduga, a town 35 kilometers from the Borno State capital, Maiduguri, the Nigerian military has said five members of the insurgent group have surrendered in the town releasing photos with more rumoured to have fleed to Cameroon [See that here if you missed it].

.com.ng gathered that the development has put the Boko Haram camp in disarray in Nigeria culminating in the devastating blow the insurgents experienced in Konduga, near Maiduguri on Friday.

The Goodluck Jonathan administration had requested for an approval of a foreign loan of $1 billion from the National Assembly for the procurement of arms and ammunition for the military to combat the insurgents.

Whatever it is, we still wait for full confirmation if that is the Abubakar Shekau terrorizing us. If it is, then we must say it is the beginning of the end of insurgency in Nigeria. Whatever it turns out to be, it is obvious we are making progress.

PoliticsIf You Hate GEJ Or Have Ever Cursed On Him (Anti-Gej).. Read This by donclark(op): 1:36pm On Sep 09, 2014
How stupid and gullible are you? You have been clouded by hatred and hearsays that you're so bitter and won't believe whatever good is reported of GEJ but the bad. Photos of the cities in which Jonathan's govt has transformed is posted, you go on shouting this is not in Nigeria. When you enter a city like Uyo, Akwa Ibom state; your local brains would call it London.

Nigerians are all bandwagon jumpers. Just because ppl insult Jonathan, you jump on it. The only problem the man has is the security which is paramont but that is because people are out there to frustrate him with.

Security apart, Jonathan has been the best President so far. Someone better might come but only if you're a cowbell baby born in the 90s, who's brain just got matured some 5-7yrs ago, as is the case with so many Nigerians, only then will you insult Jonathan's government or say he's the worst. He has his flaws but he is better than OBJ, Abacha or any other military government.

The Lagos-Ibadan-Ore express road is a testiomony, improved economy that has made a significant increase in just 3yrs that took other 60yrs to improve. Return of agriculture, electricity has improved vastly. (If you say you haven't seen light in your area and use that as a judgement then it only serves my point that you're cowbell born)

Last year we suffered from electricity in my area while a negbouring are has almost 24hrs of light daily...I sort for answers and found they were building gradually. Most of the reasons why you have poor electricity is the state of the transformers in your area. The govt plan to introduce mini transformer on each street, with that the capacity a transformer carries will reduce and prevent them from getting faulty. Now as I speak, since this year we get atleast 12hrs of light daily in my area...aint that a vast improvement? You think it will take 3yrs to transform Nigeria to Japan? Something that didn't take OBJ 8yrs?

Goodluck's tenure has been a true definition of Democracy, that alone is what as seen him being labelled weak because he doesn't take the straight decisions but put out panels to preside all the time. He might not be wearing a golden amour glowing to show all he's done because of security taken its shine yet he's done tremendously well. The oppostion guys know these but won't tell you, they'll tell you only what you want to hear.

If were to rate GEJ compare to other past govt, I'll give him a 65%...The 35% is the problems with securities and corruption..

Nigeria's economy has grown under GEJ with lots of potentials...People cry about job opportunities and all that, Everything can't be done in 4years...its gradual yet again I will say Nigeria has grown past the years of groaning for the govt to provide jobs...gove can't provide jobs for 160million people...grow up if you still live in this illusion...there are a 1001 ways to make good incomes in this Nation. Harness them, that talent you have WILL fetch you millions. Learn crafts, trades...become entrepreneurs, study people and device a market for yourself.

These are the opinions of just an avid spectator and I hate politics if you think I promoting. Its none of my business if you vote GEJ for 2015, I've always said, it will be good if he doesn't run for 2015, yet if he does, I'll gladly vote him.

First thing first did ur dad buy during ipo or from secondary mkt ? if ipo was he issued a certificate? if yes, has he dematerialised it wit cscs? if no, he needs to go to a stockbroker, open account, submit the share certs with a bankers confirmation as well as a valid id. The stock brokers will help him dematerialise the cert. This really takes some time.

If the cert has been dematerialised, the broker can assist him know d total noof units if he cant, ur dad will have to visit csl office . He will be advised the total no of units he has. He shld also ask them of his unclaimed div if he has not been receiving it.
Than my lady I appreciate..The cert hasn't been dematerialised that's my guess but FCMB have been sending us mails with duplicate certs at intervals..

thanks to all who chipped in sumn pistive..I'd be filling pop man in...atleast I leant a percentage of what y'all know today...Cheers!

Toluway: To know whether to hold or sell, you need to acquire the basic knowledge to monitor the stock. As a result, go start reading from the last hundred pages. This will give you a beginer's knowledge.
How about if I leave that to the broker to monitor? Just asking?

Toluway: Check the current price per unit of fcmb, you can ggogle it it if you dont know where to check, the multiply the number of units you have by the current price, to get the value of the stock.
I did google it with my phone before asking, I wasn't getting nothing...I'm away from home now, when I get home, I'll use my pc...maybe I'll get to see and understand more clearly. Thanks a bunch!

kotlass: I'll bet the .50k quoted are the nominal units not price. Even First Atlantic IPO didn't sell for 0.50k. It sold for N1.50k I think. Better not to raise hopes too high and be disappointed. Things have happened bro......Union bank,Finbank shareholders suffered some reconstruction losses.
The statement from the certificates says..."So so so bought shares at 50k per unit on this date"

So might explaining how that means nominal units..

Audacius: @donclark, when FCMB bought Finbank, your dad's shares reduced. If he bought finbank shares at .50k, then an investment of N50000 should be around 100,000 units. (There are charges too from brokers) So, you have an idea of his initial holding. Visit the registrar possibly with an authorization letter from pop or go together.
Now this was exactly what I wanted, Audacious God bless you!

Its as simple as this...y'all be writing essays for me...

passwelle: Obviously the individual in question has a massive chip on his shoulders. He wants us to cower because he has a 2.1 in Mechanical Engr and lacks basic research methodology grin.
Mallam blogger, web designer, entertainment mogul in late 20's with a 2.1, google is still your friend. The quoted text should be enough to start with.
Dude don't say what you don't know. When one has no interest you think just the reseraches would help? You read my earlier statement, I said I was reseraching but the interest wasn't there. Its more than just reading websites.

It was through my reserches I know CLS handles FCMB stockbroking and I emailed them yesterday. I also came accross various blogs befor my search query took me to a 2006 naraland thread where I managed to see another thread that linked me here.

I have no interest in NSE, my kind of person cannot thrive here. I just need to know what's left of the share and either sell or invest it. Anyways my researches has led me to a stockbroker now and I have a meeting with her this week.

P.S There might be senior citizens here too you know.
Yes that was intended to make y'all see I needed your attention. I know nothing about NSE, and dad has asked me to find away to work on it so it doesn't just enter ghostmode..

And if you think I'm some kid...its best you know I'm in my late 20s....

Now to somone who's kind enough to help, the old man bought the shares at that time at the rate of 50k per unit and he bought shares worth N53,000.

From the lil knowlege I have, I belive the market at FCMB where he bought could be a lot better not withstanding the 2008 economic melt down, what is the rate of FCMB's share now and could someone give an estimate of what the share could worth now and advice if to sell it or still invest it?
