One Sunday Ogodi, a father of eight children, and his accomplice, Jude Andrew have been arrested for stealing motorcycles in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The suspects were arrested by the Ika North East Chapter of Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps early this week.

Ogodi, a native of Abraka, said that he ventured into the business of buying and selling stolen motorcycles about two months ago after his farm business collapsed.

He revealed that his plan to go into the illicit business became a reality after his encounter with Jude Andrew, a native of Ekuku-Agbor.

While he serves as the sales man, Jude Andrew made sure that the motorcycles are ready for Ogodi to pack to Abaka. for sales

Ogodi and Jude, according to reports from residents of the area in Boji-Boji, Owa, have sold more than thirty motorcycles in recent time.

Nemesis caught up with Ogodi early this week as he was arrested at Ekuku-Agbor on his way to Abraka by members of Ika North East Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps following a tip off by residents.

Ogodi later confessed that he got involved in illicit motorcycle business so as to make ends meet. He begged for mercy, declaring that he will not go back to crime again.

On the part of Jude Andrew, he said that he is a friend to Ogodi, but he is not a motorcycle thief. He claimed that he was only directed by someone at old Abraka Road in Boji-Boji, Owa, to be selling motorcycles to Ogodi.

On how he got the motorcycles, Jude said they were given to him by someone whose name he refused to disclose, at the time of interrogation.

After a thorough search, a new motorcycle was found at Jude's bedroom. The motorcycle was covered with foam and bed sheet.

Both Sunday Ogodi and Jude Andrew were later handed over to men of the Nigerian Police in Ika North East.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Cult leader in the local government, Mr Moses Efamehule has warned criminals to stay off, assuring that his team is fully prepared to fight against any criminal act, particularly in this yuletide season.

“On December 25, my wife, nieces, nephews, and cousins, who had come for the holiday, all went to church. On our way back, my wife said since it was Christmas Day, we should take everyone out, so, we went to a supermarket at Abraham Adesanya, then to Domino’s Pizza.

"After that, we headed towards Ajah to do a U-turn to come back to Abraham Adesanya. When we took the U-turn, we saw policemen stopping some vehicles. As we approached them, they said we should stop, and in the process, we heard a loud sound on my wife’s side window. All of a sudden, I saw blood gushing out of her chest.

"I immediately ran out; my sister-in-law, who was also with us, ran out and held the policeman; he cocked his gun at her too. Talking to him was pointless, so I went to see if anything could be done; I saw my wife gasping for breath, and by that time, my sister-in-law had brought the policeman into the car and pushed him into the front seat.

"We drove to a hospital but they said they couldn’t handle it. We eventually took her to Grandville Hospital, where she was confirmed dead. The policemen took her body and put it in the truck; they wanted me to follow them but I said I needed to go and settle my children.”he said

A missing South African couple, Kiwiet Makangeni Mokoena and Nokuphila Dladla, have reportedly been discovered dead.

Mokoena, 35, and a pregnant Dladla, 22, were last seen in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng on December 14th, 2022.

According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Gertrude Makhale, the couple was last seen by a family member who visited them at their home.

On Wednesday, December 21, the SAPS announced in a statement that the couple’s family suspected they were kidnapped after their couldn’t find their TV and blood stains were discovered at their rented home.

The statement issued by SAPS that read: “Kiwiet Makangeni Mokoena, aged 35, and Nokuphila Dladla, aged 22, were last seen on Wednesday, 14 December 2022 allegedly by a family member who visited the couple at their place of residence in Vanderbijlpark.

"According to a preliminary report Mokoena and his heavily pregnant girlfriend Dladla were reported missing after Mokoena never reported for work the following day. The couple’s vehicle is also missing. At the time of his disappearance Mokoena wore a beige short as well as a black and white hat."

The family in a statement confirmed that the couple had died.

"After a thorough search of our beautiful couple we have found them, but it is with deep regret to announce the passing of Nokuphila Fortunate Dladla and Kiwiet Makangeni Mokoena. The date and cause of death are still to be confirmed, and it is still under heavy investigation,” the statement read.

The Lagos State Government has ordered the full closure and suspension of activities at the Kiddies section of Wonderland Lagos- an event venue after a yet-to-be-identified guest was electrocuted.

The Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr Lanre Mojola in a joint inspection with the Lagos State Task Force team stated that this intervention has become imperative to prevent further exposure of attendees particularly kids at the venue to prevent accidents that can lead to injuires and fatalities.

Mr. Lanre Mojola further disclosed that the event venue owner - Mr Ezekiel Adamu had refused to implement safety measures prescribed by the Commission despite several meetings at the onset of the project following an initial safety inspection exercise carried out on the venue to deliberate on safety infractions observed within the facility.

He further stated that It has however become urgent and pertinent to shut down the facility until all infractions are corrected to prevent users from further exposure to risk especially children and to also ensure that other lined up event are safe for Lagos residents.

The Director General stated that no individual or institution is bigger than the State and it will continually ensure the safety of Lagosians as they go about enjoying the festive season.

He further sounded a note of warning to facilities in Lagos that are not in compliance with the State Safety guidelines on events and urged residents to socialise responsibly

A Kenya man identified as Robinson Wanyama is currently on the run after the alleged murder of his 32-year-old wife, Phyllis Wanyama in Nairobi, Kenya.

Robinson stoned his wife to death on Monday night, December 19 according to the Embu North Deputy County commissioner, William Owino.

It was gathered that the wife's loud scream for help woke neighbours who rushed to their home only to see her bleeding profusely.

She was pronounced dead before she could be taken to the hospital.

It was gathered that after Robinson realised that his wife had died, he went into hiding leaving behind her lifeless body and their two children.

Owino said that “It’s so unfortunate that the couple that had lived in peace for a long time can result to killing each other, please let us find alternative ways to solve issues in families when they arise. Even if the cost of living is too high, don’t allow it to make you kill each other but seek assistance to address them from our offices.”

“The police are yet to unravel the cause of Wanyama killing his wife but they have launched investigations into the matter to ascertain the cause of the murder.”

It was gathered that the family members paid the kidnappers the sum of N5m, but the hoodlums demanded an additional N2.5m, which took the family time to raise, as they sold part of their land to generate the money.

A 49-year-old man identified as Ganiyu Shina has been arrested by the Ogun state Police Command for bathing with blood at a community river in Kotopo area of Odeda local government .

The suspect of No 4, Oguji street, Obantoko Abeokuta, was arrested on Thursday, December 15 after being sighted by members of the community at a River Bank, where he parked his Nissan commercial vehicle, came out with local sponge and a container filled with blood and started bathing with it.

It was gathered that Immediately he discovered that some people were watching him, he took to his heels, but was chased and apprehended by members of the community.

A call was made to the police at Aregbe divisional headquarters by a member of the community, and the DPO, SP Bunmi Asogbon quickly led the patrol team to the scene, from where the suspect was brought to the station.

On interrogation, the suspect claimed to have a spiritual problem, and that a herbalist instructed him to perform the ritual. He claimed further that the blood in his possession is not human blood, but that of cow.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the remaining blood should be taken for laboratory analysis, to ascertain whether it is human blood or not.

He added that the police boss has also praised members of the community for not taking laws into their hands and assured them that the suspect will be properly investigated.
