New Zealand actor, Pete Bruce Smith, who played the role of an Orc in Lord Of The Ring; The Return Of The King has died.

The actor died on Saturday, 29 January 2022 at his home after battling with kidney disease.

Pete Smith died at the age of 63.

The actor has appeared in movies like, The Piano in 1993, Once Were Warriors in 1995, What Becomes of the Broken Hearted in 1999, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in 2003 and many others.

A visually impaired man has allegedly been burnt to death by his younger brother over a piece of land in Anambra State.

The suspect identified as Mr. Onyedika Nnofu burnt his elder brother, one Mr. Mmaduabuchi Nnofu a coordinator of Joint National Association Of Persons With Disability, JONAPWD on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Eziagulu village, Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

The deceased was said to be the first male child of his family and the suspect being the last male child of four boys in the family.

It was gathered that the suspect has been in conflict with the deceased for a long period of time over the said piece of land and has reportedly threatened to kill him except he stay clear from the land.

Subsequently, at 12pm on Sunday afternoon, the suspect allegedly murdered and burnt his brother beyond recognition. It was said that angry youths attempted to lynch the suspect to death but was rescued by police who timely intervened.

Confirming the incident, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie, special adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Disability Matters, said the victim was a vibrant leader in disability community, and a blind person who can never hurt a soul.

A man have been left in shock after his girlfriend rejected his marriage proposal in front of church members.

The man identified as Bro John had earlier informed his pastor that he wanted to propose to his girlfriend, sister Favour during service on the church alter in front of congragations.

Upon bringing out the ring to propose to the said Favour, she was shocked and immediately ran out of the church without accepting the proposal.

Consequently, the said Bro John fainted but was later revivied by church members.

A young man has reportedly died during a sex romp with a lady in Delta State.

The deceased identified as Marshall died in his friend's house where he was said to have had sex with the lady before his demise.

It was said that the lady suspected to be a commercial sex worker in Jesse, Idjere Kingdom, Ethiope West local government area of Delta State made away with his ATM Card and phone after rushing him to one Sawbrade Hospital in Jesse.


Family and friends, including the one who house the death occurred are yet to identified the lady or her whereabout.

The Ogun State So-Safe Corps has arrested one Adewale Adegbenro, a security guard for allegedly stealing his employers jewelry worth N15million.

The suspect was arrested on Monday, January 24, 2022 in Odeda Local Government Area of the State.

HGS Media Plus report that the suspect on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 broke into the house of his employer he was suppose to be watching at Adigbe, Abeokuta and stole the jewelry worth N15million.

Moruf Yusuf, the corps’ spokesperson who confirmed the arrest said the suspect has been transferred to the Force CIID Annex, Alagbon, Lagos State for further investigation and likely prosecution.

The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued two kidnap victims, a man and woman from criminal hideout and neutralized two suspects in a gun duel.

The victims identified as Abdullahi Buba, aged 60 and a female, Halima Ishaku, aged 20 were rescued from their abductors by police operatives in collaboration with local hunters in Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Confirming the rescue, spokesperson of the command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje said operatives of Ganye Division and the Hunters of Ganye at Shiga da Niya Hill of Gangtum village in Ganye Local Government Area on Friday, January 21, 2022 disconnected a criminal network and neutralized two kidnap suspects in a gun duel while orders escape with bullet wounds.

''One Abdullahi Buba, 60 years and Halima Ishaku female 20years all residents of Sulti luga Ibi village, Sugu district, Ganye local government who were kidnapped by the hoodlums on Wednesday, January 19, 2020 and were taken to the hideout while negotiating for ransom.''

Two fabricated rifles, chains, padlocks, charms and N72,000 cash were recovered from the suspects.

A query letter issued to a staff by the Zamfara State Urban and Regional Planning Board, (ZUREPB) has got people talking over the spelling of the word 'Query'.

In the letter, the word 'Query' was spelt as Quarry and issued to one Mr Yahaya Garba for being absent at work.

The letter has stirred reactions from many Nigerians.

A 13-year-old boy identified as Abdullahi Sanusi, a sugercane seller has been arrested by the Borno State Police Command for stabbing a 19-year-old boy, one Mohammed Abdullahi to death.

The incident happened on Wednesday, January 19, in Gidan Dambe area of Borno State.

The suspect was said to have stabbed the victim to death after he forcefully collected his sugercane and refused to pay.

According to report, the suspects asked the victim to pay for the sugarcane, but he refused and started beating him. Consequently, the suspect used the knife he was using to cut the sugarcane to stab the victim on his neck.

The deceased was immediately rushed to UMTH, but unfortunately he died.

The state commissioner of police, Abdu Umar, who confirmed the incident said “On the same date (19/01/2022) at about 1700hrs, one Abdullahi Sanusi, 13, of the same address used a sharp knife, which he was using to cut sugarcane and stabbed one Mohammed Abdullahi, 19, on his neck at Mallawan in Gidan Dambe area.

As a result, the victim sustained serious injury. He was rushed to UMTH for treatment but later died on the same date.

The suspect alleged that the deceased forcefully took away his sugar cane and refused to pay and when the suspect demanded his money, the deceased started beating him as a result of which the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife”

Three teenage boys have been arrested by the Rapid Respond Squad (RSS) for beating and robbing a man, one Yusuph Ahmed in Lagos.

The suspects identified as Ridwan Imran aged 20, Lukman Abiodun, aged 18 and Abdulahi Isa, aged 18 were arrested on Wednesday, January 19 at Isheri – Berger Garage were they robbed the victim.

It was gathered that the suspects approached the victim and asked him for money to buy food, but when he told them he did not have money to give them, they mobilized their gang and chased the victim to Agege Stadium were they beat him, stole his belongings and smashed a bottle on his head before pushing him inside a drainage.

The sum of N100,000 and three mobile phones and a wristwatch, all estimated at over N600,000 were stolen from the victim.

RRS Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi who confirmed the arrest assured that all the perpetrators involved in the crime would be prosecuted.

Two suspected armed robbers was burnt to death by some angry mob in Onitsha, Anambra State.

HGS Media Plus report that the suspects were burnt to death on Wednesday, January 19 at MCC Junction, beside Con-oil Filling Station, along Enugu/Onitsha highway after robbing some residents of their money and valuable items in Awada area.

The suspects who came in a motorcycle were said to have shot sporadically in the air to scare people, but was chased by mob from Awada to MCC Junction where they were caught and then burnt to death.

It was learnt that the suspects disguise themselves as sit-at-home enforcers in the bid to rob residents, but luck ran out on them as they were caught and burnt with their motorcycle.

A robber suspect who specialize in killing okada riders and stealing their bike has been caught in Delta State.

The yet to be identified suspect was caught on Tuesday, January 18 after trying to kill an okada rider and steal his bike in ugbokodo community, Warri South, Delta State.

According to a relible source, the community residents has been discovering deadbodies of okada riders in the bush of the community and their bikes no where to be found.

After been beaten to stupor, the suspect confessed that he tells victims to take him to a distination where there are little or no people after boarding thier bikes, after which, he brings out a high denomination in bid to make them stick around and look for change, and then when they switch off their bike, he attacks them with a knife or cutlass, killing them on the spot and making away with their bike.

But the suspect was unfortunate when he tried to do same to an okada rider who was said to have charms. While attacking the okada man, the knife bounced back and the okada rider attacked him and raised alarm which attracted more riders.

The suspect was almost burnt alive but was rescued by the leader of the community who later handed him over to the police for prosecution.

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun has arrested 17 able bodied men from the Northern part of Nigeria in possession of 35 dogs, charms and cutlasses.

The suspects were arrested in Okititpupa town of Okitipupa Local Government Area following an alarm raised by the community who were suspicious the movement of the suspects

The suspects were said to have been invited to the communtiy by an unknown person yet to be identified.

The corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, as quoted by Dailypost said “They were people who claimed to have come from the northern part of the country with dogs, charms and cutlasses and the people of Okitipupa area who were not comfortable with them raised the alarm.

“But on interrogation, they claimed they were invited to Okutupupa by somebody and that they are actually working for the person. All attempts to reach the person they claimed to work for have not yielded any result till date.

“However, we want to warn residents to be vigilant when they see what I will call mysterious things. We have over 30 dogs among able bodied men who don’t even know where they are going. They claimed they were dropped in Okitipupa by a vehicle and that the vehicle had left.

“This calls for a very serious concern looking at the very serious security situation in the country. Investigation into who brought them and their real mission is still ongoing. They were attempting to enter the forest behind the military barracks in Okitipupa when they were arrested.”

The National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), has said that Nigerians between the ages of 16 and 17 can now receive the COVID-19 vaccines.

The angency who made the announcement on Thursday, January 13 said that 16 and 17 old persoms can take the vaccine if it's required for educational purpose.

At least seven out of nine persons have reportedly died while two injured in a road accident that happened in Bauchi State.

The accident which involved two vehicles, Sharon mini bus with registration number YLA 88 ZY and Toyota with registration number KUJ 182 TU ​happened on Thursday, January 13 at Haka Yafi village along Bauchi -Jos.

The Sector Commander, Bauchi Sector Command of the FRSC, Yusuf Abdullahi, said the accident was as a cause of overspeeding on the side of both drivers, one Mustapha Adamu as second driver is yet to be ascertained.

Seven persons died instantly in the accident while two others were seriously injured. The corpse of the seven dead were were deposited at the mortuary of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) while the other two moved to the Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Six mobile phones and the sum of N109,090 were recovered from the accident scene.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested for stabbing his mistressess husband, one Emaka Umonko to death in Ogun State.

The suspect, a commercial driver identified as Daniel Udoh was arrested on Friday, January 7 by the Ogun State Police Command following a distress call received by the DPO of Onipanu division, CSP Bamidele Job who deployed his men to the scene.

The deceased who is a welder was said to have confronted the suspect after accusing him of having an affair with his wife. The confrontation however led to a fight and consequently, the suspect brought out a knife and stabbed the victim at his back and chest.

The victim was immediately rushed to the state hospital Ota for treatment but unfortunately died on arrival.

Operatives of the South West Security Network, also known as Amotekun Corps in Ogun State, have arrested a 24-year-old man, Hussaini Abdulsalam, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in the Ijebu-Ode area of the state.

The Field Commander of the Amotekun Corps in the state, David Akinremi, stated this in a statement on Thursday.

Akinremi said the suspect, alongside another member of his gang now at large, hired a commercial motorcyclist to take them to a hotel in the Ijebu-Ode metropolis.

He explained that the duo became friendly with the motorcyclist and offered him a drink which was drugged.

The victim, after taking the drink, reportedly became drowsy as the suspect and his accomplice disappeared with the motorcycle.

Akinremi said AbdulSalam was arrested following credible intelligence linking him to the alleged crime.

He said, “Operatives of the corps in the Sagamu Local Government Area arrested one Hussain Abdulsalam, aged 24, with a stolen motorcycle.

“The said motorcycle was stolen in Ijebu-Ode by a two-man gang who hired the rider to take them to a hotel in the town. The two men became friendly with the rider and offered him a drink, unknown to him that the drink had been drugged.

“The rider, having taken the drink, became drowsy. Consequently, the suspects took away the motorcycle.

“However, based on credible intelligence, the motorcycle which registration number was changed to Ogun AAB 252 WI, was traced to the suspect, Hussaini Abdulssalam, in the Saba area of Sagamu.

“The suspect, who claimed to be a mechanic, alleged that the motorcycle was brought to him for repairs, but could neither give the name of the so-called customer or his address.”

Akinremi, a retired Commissioner of Police, said the suspect had been handed over to the police headquarters, Eleweran, for further investigation and prosecution.

A suspect has been killed by the Imo State police command while repelling an attack by suspected IPOB/ESN group on the Palace of Eze Imo, HRH Eze Dr E. C. Okeke at Ezioha Amaifeke in Orlu LGA of Owerri, lmo state.

The attack which occurred on Monday, January 3 left one suspect of the IPOB/ESN group dead.

The group were said to come in numbers with assorted weapons but were overpowered by the superior fire-power of the command’s tactical team leading to the death of one of the suspects while others fled into the bush with bullet injuries .

A 40-year-old Kenya man has been arrested by the Busia County police for in possession of marijuana in a bag around his body.

The suspect identified as Albert Wabwire was arrested on Tuesday, December 30 while walking from Busia to Matayos, HGS Media Plus gathered.

It was said that the suspect was intercepted by the police and upon being searched, a bag filled of marijuana was found on him and others wrapped around hos waist.in sacks and rubber bands.

The suspect is being held at Busia police station awaiting arraignment on Friday.

A 32-year-old Zambia woman is on the run after allegedly pouring hot cooking oil on her husband.

The suspect identified as Elizabeth Mweete poured hot oil on her husband, Mr Alex Muleya, aged 39 on Tuesday, December 28 in House number 116 Kuku Compound in Zambia were the couple live.

It was gathered that the wife poured her husband hot oil after overhearing the his phone conversation with an unknown caller that the man she was having an affair with had died.

Police has launched a manhunt for the suspect and has appealed to members of the public to report the whereabouts of the suspect to any nearest police.

Confirming the incident, Police spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, in a media statement on Wednesday December 29, said that the victim sustained severe burns on the back, on the left side of his face and eye and is currently admitted to Chawama level one Hospital.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians against patronizing hawkers who sale herbal concoctions.

The NAFDAC DG Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, said the herbal concoctions starts growing bacteria if kept for four to five days.

She also said that even though the herbal concoctions have some medicinal properties, the bacteria can still be harmful to human health and possible kill the person if taken.

She added that some herbal medicines works, but they need to go through proper research to determine the level people can consume it.

She said;

“For the liquid herbal concoctions, especially after four or five days, it starts growing bacteria.

“Even if the herbal concoction has some medicinal properties, the bacteria will kill the person first that is taking it.

“Many of our herbal medicines work but we have to do a lot of research to show how they work, at what level are we supposed to be taking them so that it will not get to the toxicity level."

A graduate of the University of Kano has been stabbed to death by a suspected phone snatcher in Jos, Plateau State Capital.

The victim identified as Suleiman Bala was killed on Tuesday night, December 28 along Duala road, Jos.

The suspect was said to have stabbed the victim and made away with his phone.

Confirming the incident, one Sheikh Sheikh, a friend of the victim said that the deceased will be laid to rest at his family house in Jos on Wednesday morning, December 29.

"To whoever life is given, death is a promise. Suleiman Bala yesterday night at the hands of unknown 'yan iska' who stabbed him to death and threw him along Duala, Jos. His Janaza is scheduled to hold by 8:00 am at his family house, Balarabe street, Jos. May his gentle soul rest in peace and his killers be exposed. Amin." he wrote.

A 25-year-old man alleged to be involve in the attack of Ajali Police Station in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State has been arrested.

The suspect identified as Emmanuel Nwafor who hails from Umuevee Ajalli, Orumba North Local Government Area was arrested on Thursday, September 30.

The suspect is said to have played an active role in the attack on the police station.

A motorcycle recovered from the suspect was allegedly looted from the police station during the attack. HGS Media Plus gathered.

Confirming the arrest, Toochukwu Ikenga, Police spokesperson said that the suspect is already making useful confessions to reveal the whereabouts of others involved in the attack.

Governor Godwin Obaseki visited the family of late 100 level Microbiology student of UNIBEN, Uwaila Omozuwa who was raped and murdered inside a church last year, 2020.

Recall the Microbiology student was murdered inside a popular church, Redeemed Christian Church of God after been raped by some men.

Speaking to the family, the Governor said.

''Uwaila did not die in vain. The federal and state governments have taken stiffer actions against gender-based violence. We are here to continue to celebrate her life as we continue to fight against gender-based violence.

"Her death was the reason for the establishment of gender-based violence committee. The Edo State Government has put mechanisms in place to fight gender-based violence-related offenses.

"Her death led to the promulgation of the Violence Against Persons (VAP) law in the state and people are now aware of the crime."

A mother and her two daughters have died in a tragic boxing day accident on the Sagamu-Benin Expressway.

The incident which involved a stationary Howo Dangote truck with registration number WW 630 XA and a Ford jeep with registration number AKD 311 HH happened on Sunday, December 26 at an old MRS filling station, along the Sagamu-Benin expressway in Itako, Ijebu Ife, Ogun State.

The Ford jeep which conveyed the woman and her two daughters was said to have ran into a Dangote truck after loosing control due to over-speeding from their driver.

Consequently, the woman and her two daughters died, but the driver survived and is in police custody.

Spokesman of the Ogun State’s Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident said theford jeep was on its way from Lagos to the Eastern part on vacation when it rammed into a stationary Dangote truck from behind due to excessive speed and loss of control.

”The husband of the woman stays overseas and the driver was employed as the family driver. The driver is at the police station,” he said.

Mr Akinbiyi sympathized with the family of the deceased and advised drivers to avoid excessive speed while driving during the harmattan season.

The deceased were deposited at the morgue of Gosheng Hospital, Ijebu Ife, by operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Two persons have been crushed to death in a multiple accident that occurred at Joju bus stop along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway in Sango Ota area of Ogun State.

The incident happened on Thursday, December 24 when a truck with registration number AAA552XY MACK TRUCK lost control due to over-speeding and crushed a female motorcyclist and her passenger and a tricycle rider before ramming into a Sport Utility Vehicle and a bank ATM area

The crash involved two trucks, eight vehicles including a tricycle and a motorcycle. Ten persons including two expatriates were reportedly injured in the crash.

Bank customers who were at the ATM stand were said to have narrowly escaped death as they ran into different directions for safety when the truck approached their direction.

The FRSC spokesperson, Florence Okpe, who confirmed the incident said the crash occurred at about 1250HRS on Abeokuta-Lagos expressway around Joju.

"A total of 11 persons were involved and all four male adults persons were injured, two persons were recorded death and five persons were unhurt," he said.

“The suspected causes of the multiple crash were excessive speed and brake failure on the part of one of the trucks with registration number AAA552XY MACK TRUCK. The injured victims were taken to Otta General Hospital and the two corpses were taken to the General Hospital Morgue.”

A residential building at Gaa Duroyi Akewusola, Amoyo town, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State has been gutted by fire.

The incident happened on Monday, December 13 at about 7pm.

The incident was as a result of electric power surge. HGS Media Plus gathered.
