Okay here goes.

First I have an open PR application so I didn't need to do biometrics, upfront medicals (at the time of submitting was valid), and police report.

Documents submitted include:
- IMM forms
- LOE
- CV
- University certificate and transcript
- IELTS
- Upfront medical form
- Letter of Reference from current employer
- 6 months payslip
- letter of reference from bank
- 6 month's bank statements for my Naira, dollar, and investment accounts
- Pension Fund statement of account and letter from PFA stating I can withdraw 25%
- Letter of sponsorship from my two sponsors - mother and sister, also noting that it wasn't notarised
- Sister's birth certificate
- 6 months bank statement of my sponsors ( when I read from this page that the amount they are sponsoring not be a major portion of their funds, I got an additional bank statement from one of my sponsors and uploaded via webform)
- Certificate of Enrolment from School (I guess what is called LOA), this showed the scholarship I got from the school
- Loan approval letter

Submitted Oct 27, Dec 30 my medical was updated to Pass, and I saw that eligibility review had started. Some days after it was updated to "you don't need medicals", cos my medicals had expired.

Got medical request 6th January, called QLife they said they'll only give me a date in February, so I tried IOM and they booked me for 13th January.

Yesterday 21st, updated to pass, and PPR.

donkunzman:
Hi Guys,

Just got PPR.

Submitted application on Oct. 27
Medical request on Jan. 6
Medicals on Jan. 13

Will post more details later.

Thanks everyone for your contributions that gave me heart attack because I submitted my application before finding this page - I thought my submission was not sufficient. Lol.

About retention, continuous application of learned material will help. Also, the contents overlap - sort of; you will need what you've learned in some areas in others.
wallmosh:
Can your share your advice on reading from the system or otherwise and possible general study skills you've adapted that work.

Retention of studied content considering the bulkiness of the materials. how do you couple with that?

Thanks

Best thing is for you to find what works for you, I've had the luxury of time while studying for both levels. So I've always been able to go through the curriculum and use Schweser where the curriculum is verbose and confusing, and solve MANY exam-like questions under exam conditions - sort of.
Make a note while studying so you will be studying your notes when you're done with the curriculum or whatever third party material you're using. Helps. Generally, whatever study skills you've adapted yourself to in University should suffice.

Career / Re: CFA Candidates In The House by donkunzman: 4:10pm On Dec 30, 2015
Exam fees range from $650 to $1280. $650 for when you register earliest and $1280 for when you register latest. On first registration, you pay a $400 reg fee. On registration, you get materials from the CFA Institute that might be enough to prepare you for each examination, should it not be enough for you, you might incur additional costs to get materials and for tutorial classes, considering that there are no exam centres in Nigeria, you will incur transportation cost to your preferred exam location.
akins56:
hello people..pls who can give me a cost estimate of taking the cfa for all three levels. .I'll appreciate if anyone can help md out here.

Thanks bro, I never knew i can get such materials for free. let me begin with the search right away.

But how do i get to know an updated material?

Just incase my e-mail is jeffreyokoli@gmail.com. Thanx bro.

By background I mean the course you studied in University. One that studied a Finance related course might find it a bit easier to understand the course content. You can always get the Schweser books for free online. You might have to do a lot of searching on the internet. The way to go about it is to just get someone that has them to send them to you.
permsec:
My background is just like an every average Nigerian.

I saw the schweser material online for $1,499 and thats quite expensive.

Any source where i could get it cheaper?

And bro, i have every time to spend if you have the time to spend as well. Thanks

Mentorship ke? Lol. It depends on the amount of time you have to spare and your background. I had a lot of time, so I used Schweser and the Curriculum. People pass Level 1 studying with just Schweser. Some people (not a lot) prefer the Curriculum. Just have a look at both, with the knowledge that you can pass studying either of them, then choose.
permsec:
Which is the best material to prepare with for a L1 candidate. Your mentorship will be highly appreciated.

Oh well... My files are too large. Quite recently, someone on this thread offered to share his books at Ikeja Mall or so, I'm not sure. If you're in Lagos, you might consider taking his offer. Or buy the books... Or register for the exam.

Donkunzman. Thanks for pasting the link again. But the notes on the link are CFA official L1 notes by Wiley. I truly need Schweser L1 notes. Pls if you still have them send to my mail novoassociates@yahoo.com.

Drop your CV everywhere you find off and online. What I used to do was search LinkedIn for profiles of people in the field, then know the company they and similar people work for, then visit their sites to upload my CV. Although I didn't get a job from that, I think it's a good complement of your other job search activities.
Kaysalas:
hi wallmosh, nice to see you keeping up with the dream. As per resources, you could also visit investopedia, they have a dedicated tutorial section on CFA courses. you'll love it.

Lol. Senior man ke?
As far as I know, analysts are like the lowest rung on the ladder everywhere, they do the grunt work no one wants to do (there's probably a fancy name for your dream/aspiration, I don't think "analyst" is the word you want to use).
I hope too that the experienced ones will come in to share words of advice.
About resources, you will find them on specific threads addressing particular programs, I'm sure about the CFA thread, don't know anything about CIS.

From Oshodi( a little after the pedestrian bridge), enter Gbagada Church, stop at general hospital. The place is opposite the hospital. Don't be expecting a KPMG signpost. Just look for number 9b and enter.

I don't know about things peculiar to IARCS, but whatever it is, prepare to answer the basic interview questions too.
