Defeating terrorism is not an easy task especially when their approach involves suicide bombing and gorilla warfare. How I wish the North didn't allow it to grow into the monster we now have. I'm not being a pessimist, but as long as education is being relegated by religion up north, terrorism would always continue. |

Except you're an Osibanjo who has a Tinubu to favour you, you can't occupy exalted political positions without being corrupt. The truth remains that majority of youths are not ready to lead as they are either not prepared or not concerned. sweetgala: The house is rented that much has been confirmed , the rent is payed for by the EFCC. Magu invited notable jornos to the house and showed them around to signify he wasn't living in opulence Then the blame should go to the presidency controlled DSS for the so called image tainting report against Magu. The Senate is just doing their job. |

Politics › Re: Magu Is Victim Of ‘Civil War’ In Buhari’s Corrupt Kitchen Cabinet – Shehu Sani by DonLo: 10:43am On Mar 17, 2017 |
Reference: It even goes beyond that. This battle is like the one that goes on in the bowels of the earth that makes mountains, soil and minerals. It is a battle between individuals to form institutions of which the EFCC unfortunately is losing. Ignorant Nigerians (as usual) calling for the heads of the Legislature have failed to realise they are crystallising their position across party lines to become a formidable power bloc that will ensure their agenda is futhered into the future while the EFCC/Executive are casting all their lot with just one man Magu who may sleep and not wake up tomorrow morning just as J. Edgar Hoover, the founder of the American FBI did. Fortunately for Hoover, by his demise the FBI was already an institution and even though Hoover was descredited in his later working years, he had seperated himself, his larger than life character, his mystic from the organisation and the organisation had no option than to forge ahead.
Can any Nigerian, especially those barking against the Senate mention just one person apart from Magu they feel confident can step into his shoes.... because the man can sleep and not wake up one day just like Hoover. The raucus about the 'Custom Boss customised uniform' is simply because the NCS has not been properly institutionalised. If not what is a retired colonel who knows next to nothing about such a specialist parastatal/organisation head it.
Have we ever thought to ourselves why is it that criminals don't just kidnap or kill judges easily to escape sentence or murder policemen to terminate cases or send warning notes to prison wardens to let their felons out....why is it not common..... because one man does not control the system. Because taking out one man does not bring down an institution. Ignorant Nigerians scream that the Legislature is corrupt and that's why they don't want Magu. Equally ignorant people say, 'but there are 200 million Nigerians to take his place', However no one is talking about the EFCC. They don't feel the organisation matters, they don't see its relevance. But that is what matters, the institution. That is why a judge can go home and sleep soundly at night knowing that even if he doesn't wake up, the criminal will never go free. The more the EFCC is tied to Magu, the weaker it gets.
Nigerians should educate themselves to raise their mentality to the degree of quality they expect of living in this country. I'm informed by your response Sir. This the most intelligent mention have received today. Nigerians are sentimental, and are quick to jump to the fact that the senators are corrupt hence afraid of Magu. The question we should be asking is whether their reason for not confirming him is tenable of not. That should be the debate. Power must be separated, so also, we must make great institution as that's what will facilitate continuity. Saraki being the Senate president is a kind of plus to Nigerians, if not, anything that comes to the Senate would have been accented to had APC had their way with Lawan. |
Politics › Re: Magu Can Serve Indefinitely, Presidential Committee Tells Buhari by DonLo: 8:53am On Mar 17, 2017 |
signz: This just goes to show that Buhari unfortunately has lost control of the Presidency. That's why even after meeing Buhari, Saraki still didn't confirm Magu and Saraki still went ahead to embarrass Hameed Ali. Saraki knows that Buhari has lost control and he's exploiting it. We're now being ruled by cabals (not one cabal).
A certain cabal wants Magu to have the job another cabal doesn't.
Another fact to butress the point that Buhari has lost control is the memo by El rufai leaked to the press and lets not pretend we don't know who leaked it. Correct Bro. Buhari 'yanch' as been opened and his flaws has been made evident to all. One thing Buhari lacks despite his military background is the ability to be in charge. He is neither charismatic nor does he exude fear on the minds of other politicians. Many are taking advantage of this and are all forming microscopic but powerful cabals all around. Even the fact that your wife can publicly criticize your government speak a lot. He still has a lot to learn from Tinubu whom despite not occupying any position still remains feared by all including Buhari. He needs to know Nigeria's president is the most constitutionally powerful president in the world and that alone should have been an advantage for him. |

This only goes to show that Buhari is not a smart leader. A DSS under OBJ won't try such except he accents to it but wetin Buhari know. Don't blame the Senate but some elements in the presidency that didn't want Magu as the chairman, therefore, using their influence to get a DSS report to rubbish him before the action ready Senates whom most of her members have corruption hanging over their heads. Let's tell our self the truth, Magu too corrupt. How much be him salary way him they live for 40 million naira rented house while also flying private jet around the country. And to all those shouting, 'Magu must be confirmed', na only him competent among our about 200 million population. |

It's a nice drama to watch and the I'll like to title it 'THE GAME OF PRIDE' The Senate and Customs are both wrong concerning the uniform thing. Ali should have worn it since it's a known and recognised convention for those serving in similar position especially when necessary. Somethings are considered right howbeit not legal. But as regards the Senate, they are interested in humbling/humiliating him with it uniform saga using the smokescreen of his supposed disrespect for the Senate, when in the actual sense they are being driven by pride. And to the writer saying the new customs law would affect the rich and affluent, I'm sorry to say, he doesn't know what he is saying. It's the common man that had to go through Benin to buy that Tokumbo car that the customs will find easy to harass or you that you bought a fairly used car whose original importer was smart enough to evade paying necessary duties. Who wan stop Oga Politicians them, and even if they do they have friends at the top to facilitate their car release. The new law is just to complement the customs inefficiency and corruption at the nations entry points. The controversial law would also mean that, you now finding custom officer in our inner roads, thus, giving them the impetus to start collecting bribes. Then you'll understand that when it comes to bribery and corruption, the police are learning. |
