sarrki:A united south is the key bro and not the unnecessary rivalry. |
Please your title is misleading change to blasted by Igbos. You See what I said the other time about politics played by the Igbos? This man is wise and he knows he needs a bridge across the divide for him to actualise his dreams and that of his people. But the deep seated hatred for others will make some Igbos frown at such and no wonder Okorocha was rechristened Okoroawusa. When the one and only true JAGABAN was honoured it was well received by the Yorubas' and eventually everybody and that's the difference. Until we become detribalised and not allow religion to divide us unnecessarily we still have a long way to go. I am an advocate of a true United Southern Nigeria but this hatred for our own won't take us there. Good one jare. The igbos now have someone to sell them in Zamfara come 2019 should an Igbo man chooses to contest the country's numero uno seat. |
Sariki, the PDP guy in APC cloth. He is making a good senate president I think safe his corrupt tendencies. A good check for buhari. |
Peter, the rock. |
Unionism is dead. This is when you need other public institutions in the states affected to go on solidarity strike but they no, e no concern them. What a pity. |
Restructuring the country will only occur with a selfless leader at the helm of affairs which Buhari is far from because it takes so much power away from the presidency. Imagine you all come to me every month to give you crumbs of what is rightly due you and you'll think I'll relinquish such power easily safe selflessness? Restructuring is the way forward. Though Atiku is advocating for it but I know he is only playing politics, telling the informed south what they want to hear as I know he'll do nothing. The Igbos have every right to feel shortchanged due to the unwritten law of not allowing them presidency but they also have not helped issues with their tribal, pull him down and self hating politics. However, the possibility of restructuring comes with a southern leader which I think should be Igbo come 2019. Tinubu should support an Igbo presidency to unify the south and maybe pacify the North Central with the VP slot. This will send the economic retrogression policy maker, Buhari packing. |
Don't know what to make out of this but all I know is that the judges are corrupt but Buhari's approach at handling it is not wise. He is too in haste not knowing that some professions still have a cult membership and would hardly go against there own. But one thing I know, offer enough financial remuneration for this case and you'll see the so called SAN itching to take the case. |
Good for him |

gbomojomo:My thought exactly. And not also forgetting that Tinubu asked Aisha to join Buhari campaign train back then. He has nothing to lose and he can decide to break the pot to smite Buhari. He is keeping his enemies closer while maintaining a dignified silence. Atiku understands his importance towards his ambition and he is trying to pitch tent with him. Tinubu will shock all. I see him forming ally with his enemy to fight his turned betrayer friend Buhari |

When I tell people spirit husband is a scam born out of over religiosity they think I'm ignorant. There's nothing like that, we humans like creating problems for ourselves in a bid to find explanation to things we don't understand. But I won't blame those Pastors but those that are gullible enough to put their brain in the bag before going into the church. May God help us. That's how someone told a friend who is having wet dreams after having had prior sexual exposures but now trying to stay chaste yet thinking about sex that it is caused by the spirit wife. I just dey laugh. May God help us and bless our ignorance. |
Some people are just on an entirely different league. Imagine someone doing this despite being in the same class with other medical students who are by all means above average is commendable. It was a lovely Wednesday morning as I get prepared for the day’s clinic. I wasn’t expecting much, today is going to be like every other day. It is almost always an infection, if not malaria it will be one of those bacteria infections with typhoid being the most common. But on few occasions, some patients present with chronic diseases like diabetes mellitus or hypertension. The clinic was normal until a pregnant man came in. A pregnant man! Other patients in the waiting room wondered. A middle aged man with a huge abdominal distention was wheeled into the hospital. He was in an obvious distress, he looked as if he is seconds away from death. So jaundiced and pale that he could barely stand. I swung into action with the hope of helping him but my enthusiasm was soon shattered. There’s little I could do on knowing the diagnosis. He has liver cancer from chronic hepatitis B infection. The most touching part of this tragic story was how he got the hepatitis B infection. Before going neck deep into his story let’s form a background by knowing some basic information about hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is a viral infection just like HIV but 100 times more infectious. WHO 2014 facts sheets estimates that 2 billion people have been infected with hepatitis B virus worldwide. 90% of those with the infection don’t know they have it and only 1 in 100 gets treated. It is transmitted by sharing of sharps, unsafe sexual intercourse, exchange of body fluids, needle pricks and also from mother to child. Most people with this infection go unnoticed as the immune system have the ability to contain it but when this fail, an infected individual becomes a chronic carrier of the virus. And in the long run, the chronic carriers develop liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. Chronic hepatitis infection is the commonest cause of liver cancer in sub Saharan Africa. So how did my patient got his? Exactly 42 years ago, his family of 7 felt the need to empower themselves against metaphysical powers. His parent felt they needed to fortify the children and protect them from their numerous imaginary enemies. This made them visit an herbalist whose method of doing this was through incisions. He incised the five children twenty one different times, lacerating different parts of their body while he rubbed a black substance on each incision. He used the same blade for all the five children. He ended up infecting all the children with hepatitis B virus in the process. Three of the children later became a chronic carriers as evidenced by being positive to hepatitis B surface antigen. None of the children knew until one of them developed liver cancer. I referred him to a gastroenterologist but little could they do to help him. He died 2 months after. Important lessons from this story are: About 20 million Nigerians are chronic carriers with most being unaware. Everyone should go for a screening test, it is not expensive. One should avoid high risk behavior like sharing of sharps and having unprotected sexual intercourse. Parent with the infection should take adequate measures to prevent its transmission to their unborn child. All new babies must be vaccinated against the infections If you have this infection it is not the end of the road, it can be cured. Let me leave you with the recommendation of Prof. Olusegun Ojo, the former President, Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Nigeria and the current President of Africa and Middle East Association of Gastroenterogy (AMAGE), “At the same time, Nigerians should take steps to determine their Hepatitis B Virus and Hepatatis C virus statuses by getting screened in hospitals and medical laboratories. If negative, they should seek to be vaccinated and, if positive they should ask to see hepatologists, specialist physicians who are knowledgeable and conversant with further testing and treatment.” An important question I ask myself is, should one blame the parent or excuse them for the good intention that turned sour? This article was written to commemorate the world hepatitis day, July 28 and in remembrance of a fellow nairalander, DJDOLA who died from chronic liver disease 2 years back. May your soul and that of my patient rest in peace. Joel3:All those Promises have either been denied or Cancelled. He is falling hand big time. |
Remii:Hello! Every successive government have had to spend so much on this same clinic then one wonders where the money must have gone to. Is it Nigerians fault that he is yet to implement the budget still in June? You said the Canadian PM went to do a surgery which I want to believe will be a major surgery. My own President went there to treat common ear infection. This is in fact an insult to all Nigerian doctors. I expect more from him. Thanks |
luvinhubby:Somebody must say the truth. It's better to be a wailing Zombie than a pure Zombie ![]() |
Every Nigerian must wail intelligently if need be. Before the 2015 general election I was one of the many passionate Buharists. The chant of 'Sai Baba' excited me like someone who had just won a lottery. I preached the gospel of the soon to be born Nigeria's Messiah, Buhari. As a southerner, my Buhari styled cap gives me away as someone who identifies with the soon to be witnessed change. All I wanted was the best for my country. I can remember how elated I was when he was declared winner. However, my joy quickly turned sour when he started repeating the mistakes of past leaders. I was left with the consolation, 'at least he is better than Jonathan'. A belief which is debatable in some quarters. The news of Buhari's medical trip in the guise of vacation to London only justifies Mr President's hypocrisy. After the budgetary allocation of 3.87 billion naira for the upgrade of the State House Clinic, yet an ear infection cannot be treated there. It is pertinent to note that the budgetary allocation for capital projects for the upgrade of the Aso Rock Clinic is more than that of the 16 Federal Government owned teaching hospitals combined. These teaching hospitals not only treat millions of Nigerians but also train medical doctors and specialist doctors, yet these hospitals combined got far less than just a clinic. Just one. In a swift defence of the President, Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the President on Media and Publicity said through his tweeter account @GarShehu "...plan to improve medical facilities at home as a way of discouraging overseas trip in search of treatment by citizens which eat away our foreign exchange". Despite this knowledge, Mr President must waste our constantly depleting forex and tax payers money to treat just an ear infection in the United Kingdom. We should not overlook this. We must ask questions. Is this just an excuse to junket? Or could the bogus clinic budget be an excuse to embezzle funds? Could it be that the President does not have faith in Nigeria's doctors and healthcare? Or another Yar'adua's stunt in the making? Or could it just be for further evaluation according to the Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina. Maybe this is the truth after all, but the common sense would have been to invite the 'London' doctor down to Nigeria since there is a 3.87 billion naira recently upgraded clinic in Aso Rock. Maybe it could have been that the President's doctors who know his medical history are in London hence the mandatory travel? I had it been he didn't win the last election, where would he have gotten the money to fund such trip knowing fully well he had to take a loan to purchase his party's nomination form. One thing Mr President must note is that he is setting a bad precedence. Why then stop Oliseh Metuh from travelling abroad to seek medical care after his 'staged' fall? If the President can travel to London to treat an ear infection today, a Minister will seek medical tourism with public funds in the near future to treat a running nose. These things are not right and our perception of it as norm has to stop. Imagine Obama leaving the US to treat an ear infection in the UK? Hypocrisy is when a 3.87 billion naira upgraded clinic cannot treat an ear infection. Above all I wish the president a quick recovery, beautiful 'vacation' and a safe return. http://kuducancer.com/2016/06/06/buharis-medical-trip-an-evidence-of-hypocrisy/ cc lalasticlala cc ishilove cc barcanister cc temitemi1 cc Berem cc Omenka cc Cramjones

chriskosherbal:d Are you sure you can see it ![]() A literary picture it is for those who can see. I can but pity the poor girl. She must have been sectioned due to her tiny pelvis. One wonder if she hasn't joined the league of teenage girl with fistula, a group dominated by the northerners. |
TO A YOUNG MOTHER, ESE ORURU Perhaps it was a thought of your tiny pelvis Or that of your dry menarche That burdens my heart with wrought iron weight When the news was aired By the network of town gossipers That you my friend is now a mother A child-mother Or a mother-child Don’t know which you are But you are a child and a mother A child weaned, Recently Lacking in ways of this world But blessed with body Of a woman ten seasons older You, my young mother Haven’t seen many harmattans Nor has your backbone calcified Enough to bear a day old The news has it That the white witch man says You have a fistula What that is, make a fool of me But the townspeople say You leak human dung And flies are your closest comrades Your husband detest your hut now You were a firm breast and virgin to him My heart is overridden By the bleakest of emotion Thick like a moonless night When I think of you All I remember is That child bathing in the lakeshore Or the castle we build on sand dunes And your quick wit has you pratter on I cried when you were taken Away to marry a locksmith I missed our shared secret kisses On the way home from the stream The world has robbed you of your childhood And make my friend lost to me #SayNoToUnderageMarriage All rights reserved KuduCancer.com http://kuducancer.com/2016/05/31/to-a-young-mother-ese-oruru/
