He'll need phonics to improve his spellings and reading. Then get him a book on sight words to increase his vocabulary and teach him the meanings and how to use them correctly in sentences.

Emphasize on the use of tenses. you can get these books from a book shop depending on your location. If you're in Lagos, go to tejuosho bookshop. You'll get a variety to chose from.

Thanks. Can you suggest a good series on it?

I have this cousin of mine from the village who is done with SS3. His reading is fair but has great problem with understanding the meaning of words and is terribly bad with spellings. He also mixes up his tenses. If not cos he is already 18, i would have enrolled him in Nursery two or three. i want to take him through an intensive home tutoring for like a year before having him attempt WAEC again; the initial one being an mess. I have made attempts to tutor him but i am concerned it's not structured. Can anyone help me with a structured learning material like pace/ace or suggest some other resources. Advice on alternative strategy is welcomed.

Take away the Fulani herders from Nigeria and 90% of our security challenges are gone. They know the bushes and form mainly, 90% of armed robbers on major northern highways. Over 95% of the kidnappers in the North are Fulanis. The President wont say anything cos right now, the herders have started farming on the lands they grabbed. This is a continuation of the 14th century jihad and that's why as simple as this thing seems, the govt hasnt done anything serious. The Hausas on the other hand prefer to serve under their Lords the Fulanis cos of Islam and intermarriage hence the further complication of the challenges.

You clearly don't know cameroon Zinc. It's best to stay in your core area (Longspan, et al) than to say what you are not aware of.

can you pls educate us more? i am a bit confused as to which to go for now. I dont want to buy roofing sheet that will be poor in appearance. Can you guide me on buying cameroun zinc?

Pls advice me on this... I want to roof a structure but in Kaduna, Queensway gave me a quote of 3,800per square meter. I went to Idu in abuja, in some of these one man aluminum stores and they gave me a quote of 2,100 per square meter. All quotes are for longspan. The difference is obviously too much but I brought back the sample to I got kaduna and compared both and discovered that the .55 from Queensway feels clearly thinker than the .55 I got in ABJ. I am on a significantly low budget so that of Queensway is out of my reach. What I have seen and hate is when after roofing, you see the skeleton of the woodwork impressing on the roofing sheet or the roofing sheets just looks rough like the Carpenter did a party dance on it. Can anyone advice me on what I may do. Like should I just go for a thick Cameroon/ghana zinc and what their guages and prices are like. Thanks

Exactly what I came here to write. I still do not understand what business state ASUU have with this present strike.

Well let me educate u a bit. The main reason for the strike is revitalization of universities and payment of earned allowances. FG brought in IPPIS as a distraction. Now...
1. On revitalization, my friend works in Kaduna State University and the last time an agreement was reached on Eared Allowance, the FG urged the state govts to try and implement it as well. You may wish to know that my friend has been earning that cos the state govt implemented it.

2. On proliferation of state universities, it badly affects the state unis cos like Kaduna University, abt 90% of the structures are built by FG either through CBN, TETFUND, NEEDS ASSESSMENT etc. The govt does virtually nothing but payment of salaries. Yet, you still see them building more. I think Kano already has 2 state unis and is planning on building another. Kogi can't pay salaries but it wants to add another uni. The unis will soon turn to secondary schools and it's likely gonna emanate from the state unis, rubbing off on the Federal unis. Thus, using the govt forum, FG can discourage that.

3. Revitalization fund are not just for the FG unis. I stated the example of KASU. After the last strike, govt released money and KASU got about 200 million. I think Plateau state uni got about 130million or thereabouts. So if ur branch no join strike and ASUU suspends it, maybe una allocation fit get K leg since the FG will involve them in the sharing formula.

4. For the general funding of unis, don't forget state govts have been working hard to see that some allocation to certain sectors are cut while certain taxes are implemented so that the FG will have more money to send as monthly allocations to the states. Now it means that if FG will have money for universities, certainly, State govs, who are part of the Federal Executive Council, are very key stakeholders in the decision process.

Last last though, it's the kind of shambolic federal system we are practicing that allows this. This feeding bottle federalism that everyone heads to the center for everything is wack. I men look at us elections. Counties being responsible for election process? I can't imagine local govt officials handling elections. See how messed up state handled LG elections are. Nigeria na zoo

Education / Re: Course Unit System -UI (7) Versus OAU (5) by donpata(m): 5:25am On Nov 16, 2020
lilliesboy:
This BIAS, particularly against postgraduate students coming from OTHER (African) universities and/or NON-Yoruba has been going on for MANY years in the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. They only PRETEND about it. If you ask (postgraduate) students/graduates of the University of Ibadan that came from OTHER universities, many of them will confirm what I am telling you.

One major and popular thing they use in identifying and differentiating THEIR own University of Ibadan alumni/first degree holders from OUTSIDE or NON-University of Ibadan graduates is the MATRICULATION NUMBER: all THEIR Unibadan products carry Matric Numbers that begins with number "1," while OUTSIDERS or non-Unibadan (postgraduate) students carry Matric Numbers that begin with "2". Once lecturers/staff see a student's Matriculation Number that begins with "2," they QUICKLY hold a stupid BIAS against the student and begin to NEGATIVELY judge their intelligence/academic performance based on that.

Records have shown that many Nigerian postgraduate students who came from OTHER universities had OFTEN outshine their so-called ONLY "best/brilliant" University of Ibadan alumni/products academically and otherwise. Thus, many lecturers and non-academic staff feel insulted and threatened like they are not good lecturers since it invariably means so if their students are not better than those coming from other universities or NON-Yoruba ethnic group. To justify this, they OFTEN score non-Unibadan or OUTSIDE students very LOW in exams but give their (dull) students/alumni BETTER (unmerited) grades and advantage. They also complement this injustice and systemic corruption by ALWAYS talking DOWN on non-Unibadan graduates or making a caricature of them in comparison to their own (dull) students in order to DEMORALIZE them (OUTSIDE students/NON-Yoruba) by making them feel TIMID or like they do not know anything and never merited their (first) good degrees. This is clearly a form of PSYCHOLOGICAL warfare and should be punished if Nigeria was an advanced society with a high rule of law.

These systemic corruption and injustice are the MAIN reasons why so MANY (Yoruba) students in this part of the country, most of them DUNES, are awarded Ph.D, made professors, SAN etc., than the rest region of the country. It is because they are in CONTROL of the (educational) system, NOT because they are the most intelligent. I tell you, SO MANY of them with Ph.D. and Professorial degrees/tiles know very little or NOTHING compared to those in the Niger Delta and other areas. I and others who have lived here KNOW what we are talking about. Na DASH dem dey DASH many of dere pipul here wit dos (UNMERITED) degrees and awards.

Imagine "postgraduate" students who cannot speak neither write a simple good sentence; some of them in class even talk in YORUBA when presenting seminar paper since they cannot speak in simple English. Their papers are full of many grammatical blunders and misspellings; I and others even help them to edit their works. Yet, whenever results comes out these set of (Yoruba) students ALWAYS score HIGHER - 60% and above, than many of us who are NON-Yoruba and/or NON-University of Ibadan alumni. So much injustice, corruption and so-called tribalism here. Hypocrisy of the highest order!

I will NEVER relent concerning those poor seven (7) results! Let them do their usual gang up and manipulation to subvert justice and cover up their evil tracks; I will not relent. This matter may go very FAR if they do not do the right thing! Those are NOT my real scores and can NEVER be!

I can relate bro. I sometimes regret going there cos when there's opportunity, I see people that won't even come close to me in academics here in the north being favored cos they did their schooling in other universities and got their PhD grades while I went down to Ibadan to come out with some arbitrary grading. They are favored in scholarships than one is. Worst is when there seem not to be any guide concerning assessments. Most lecturers will not give CAs or assignments. They just mark exams over 100. Thus if exams don't go too well, na C or D get person be that.

Massive respect to FG for not caving. Since ASSU is bent on wasting my time, they won't also get what they want.

ASUU is just used to having their way but snizu doesn't give a f*ck. IPPIS is just to prevent ghost workers which would save this country lots of buck in the long run but ASUU is more interested in the allowance not covered by the system; also the fact that it makes it impossible for them to teach multiple institutions therefore collecting salaries instead of salary. Awon Ole

The inability of these so called adults and literates to Reason like men rather than throw shades is really disheartening. Agba ko Kogbon

U are talking out of ignorance. There is no university in the world that has all the manpower that it needs, NONE. You can't even employ too much for some specific areas so you simply invite someone to come and teach and such lecturer is paid based on hours taught. It's not salary as FG will want people to believe. It's allowance of between 30k to maybe 100k. It's also meant to end once school closes. This is done all over the world so help ur ignorance. Do u know that based on NUC guidelines, only PhD holders are meant to really teach especially beyond 100lv but due to shortages, we have masters holders teaching? Of coz there are lecturers that abuse the process. Besides, universities all over the world, including Nigeria have laws governing them and IPPIS bridges that law. There are more to this and Google is thy friend.
