Mosseuirdoctore: Hello guys,
Please I'm to start work in IPSWICH by August. I'd really appreciate any accommodation pointers. Thank you. Try spare room if you are looking for a single accommodation. Otherwise there are some lettings agents that would help you as accommodation isn't really difficult in Ipswich at the moment. You can get a room in a HMO as well. |

giselle237: I am sorry that your family is going through this- it is particularly stressful with childcare when there is no family around. Is there anyone else that can try? Perhaps you or your wife’s parent? Thanks for your kind words. My wife mum is willing to come as mine has several commitments back home . The issue is proofing home ties as she is full-time house wife so I'm worried about her financial circumstance regards the visa application. |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by donplus1: 1:54pm On Mar 14, 2025 |
giselle237: Nowadays they (HO) are clever, they know once visitors visa has been granted, next application is asylum. Pls what documents did you provide to prove her employment as she does not have salary credits tallying with this. Also did you write that about childcare as the reason she is applying to come? It is very risky as I see more refusals with this as they see it as you coming to work. My opinion. Also you made 3 of the commonest mistakes. • 1. Discrepancies in Financial Documents: Bank statements show figures that are different from what you have written in application answers. • 2. Multiple Ingoing and Outgoings: There are multiple big transactions that are not disclosed or explained. • 3. Recent Big Amount Added in Bank: This is the most common reason where people think it's an easy way to get a visit visa, which in fact is an easy way to get a refusal. I provided her employment letter, promotion and letter of approved leave from her employer. I did not state she is coming to provide childcare; purpose of visit is to see a family( her sister) who has been in the UK for over 2 years and meet her 16 months old baby first time. 1. She was using the salary account for personal business hence the discrepancies 2. I actually disclosed the other income source in the application form but I should have added it in cover letter and explain the source. 3. That recent big amount was just coincidental with the time of application. It was less than 200k and that was her salary after the implementation of the new minimum wage. I was so engaged preparing for my wife surgery, going back and forth with the appointment so I don't really have enough time to scrutinise the application well enough. It was a difficult moment for us. Thanks for your input..I really appreciate |

babadydx: See SOA is always the problem, attach your documents including the SOA and attach your letter of invitation as cover letter and state the reason for the visit, dont explain transactions you will open your ass. UK cherish mental health more than anything, give them a good reason to tremble, if you need help to write a captivating cover letter, you can reach out for free!. Thanks for your input. How do I reach out to you please? |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by donplus1: 8:55am On Mar 12, 2025 |
hemjayb: The SOA you submitted is the only problem. Make sure all what you have stated in the application reflects in the statement. EG, the salary must be the same, the monthly expenditure must be the same. If the side work is the reason for the excess inflow and outflow, state that she has additional income in your application and explain this in your cover letter. Thanks for your input bro |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by donplus1: 4:27pm On Mar 11, 2025 |
babadydx: All these over explanation dey cause issues. Submit your documents , if they need verification of source of inflow , they will ask.
Someone working for government wants to come to UK to do what?
She has a reason to come to UK whether she's working or not just back it up with documents necessary.
Example my wife works I didnt tell UKVI about it, and didn't submit any document to that effect. I guess you didn't see the refusal letter attached to the post. The application was refused based on the premise that they are not convinced she is un full-time employment and not satisfied with her employment/ financial circumstance. They did not do any verification or request for additional documents. Addressing the reason for refusal is why I'm seeking opinions as I don't really know what else to add to proof home ties and ensure she get approved this time around. These ECO can be funny sometimes and it's kind of annoying. Thanks for your input |

Good day everyone,
Please I need opinion and recommendations in reapplying for visit visa for my wife sister.
She is employed full time and have a business on the side( not registered) that gives around 1m monthly income but that was not added in the first application. The ECO wasn't satisfied that she works with the state government even after providing employment details and all relevant documents including her salary bank statement.
I need help in reapplying again for her as my wife is off work due to medical condition and I need some help for childcare to aid her recovery.
I have attached the refusal letter for advise and opinion please. Regards

Akhat: Thanks. I have tried this particular link before, I could not find any part on how to switch from BG, rather what it shows is how to switch to BG. Or is there a particular way I need to navigate the link? You need to be a customer with British gas before you can switch. That's how it works. |

Akhat: .
British gas supplies only electricity to the apartment. I contacted Octopus, they told me to first contact British gas who are the current electric supplier, before they can take over from them. Or should I try other good electricity provider and see if they can help me notify British gas of my intention to switch? You need to infirm British gas of your move into the apartment using this link https://www.britishgas.co.uk/new-home/move-in/energy-quoteThey will make sure you get energy in your new apartment pending switch. You can switch to octopus using my referral link, we both get £50 https://share.octopus.energy/young-glow-364 |

adeolaspecial: Hi guys, please i need your input in this. First of all, i apologize for my lengthy post. I moved into the uk last year april as a student dependent, i started working in may and have been earning a minimum a minimum wage with over time and the littlest i earned is 1900 including over time which enabled me clear my wife's fees and pay some bills added with the little she earned working 20hrs. In the long run she got pregnant and went on maternity leave a month before we welcome our baby in December.
She was on maternity leave, earning maternity pay which supports me while i go full blast working overtime with same earnings not more than 1900. She went back to work in August and now on 37.5hrs full time as she has finished doing her masters.
Now with the responsibility of catering for our child who is now 10months, we had to adjust with our work patterns (Thank God for giving me an understanding manager and hers too) by picking shifts when we like to help us on who stays home with the baby while the other go to work. I had to let go working overtime as i work on days when she's not working and she works on days when I'm not working.
This has really impacted on my earnings and pay as i now earn the basic pay of 1800, and with tax, ni and pension deducted i am left with about 1600 sometimes lower if i don't work night shifts as we earn enhancement working night shifts. My wife is very supportive as we split montly bills, spendings and all ( I know that this should even make it easier as she earns more now) , but the issue is lately the cost of living has gone up, our rent was increased, energy bill has gone up as we had to sometime put on the heater cos of the baby, his feeding, clothing and all his needs.
The bills are choking and i can even hardly save. My wife on the other hand contributes her quota on a 60/40 basis as i contribte the most as the olori ebi even though we earn same salary monthly. I have racked in credit card debts and all. I have had to cut down alot of spendings to adjust ( and that includes me not buying orijin bitters or going out with friends, going to the barber, i cut my hair anyhow i sabi, and some needs....lol). What can i do in this context as i am considering getting a new job that can pay more on same hours, but I don't know if the manager will be as understanding as the current manager i work with.
I need to earn more. I am considering investments, but don't know which or how i can get into one. Its eating me and i had to pour out my heart. I'm sorry for the lengthy write up. By the way, i work as a support worker and my wife as well as she got sponsorship and I'm a dependent. But we just can't do more hours cos of our baby.
I am considering remote works, but concentration is much needed in this and our baby is always seeking attention. How do one cope in this. Is 1600 earning considered good in such situations? I just want to drop my 1 cent so you feel motivated. You are doing very well, I understand your frustration as a result of the cost of living crisis. Don't beat yourself too much about it. I earn 1600 after tax, wife currently not working due to childcare( son is six months) and we haven't bn able to get a remote job for my wife to compliment my salary and the least save something at the end of the month. Yet here I am, enduring and hoping things will get better. Where someone own end, another go start. " Perseverance and determination is the key! Shalom brother. |

Good day everyone!
*Soliciting for more opinion please*
Please I need your opinion on how best to handle my current end of tenancy issue.
I am to vacate my current house 29th September as agreed in the assured shorthold tenancy agreement.
I have been contacted by the lettings on the 25th of June to notify me of the landlord's intention to sell the house hence he's not interested to renew my contract. But unfortunately I have not bee able to secure another apartment due to the current housing crisis. Securing accommodation seems like war these days.
I have been in contact with the lettings and the property coordinator to explain the situation but they insist the landlord doesn't want an extension. The lettings branch office have been trying to help as well but nothing is forthcoming from their end.
How best do you think I can handle this without unnecessary legal tussle?
Elders and experienced bosses, abeg I need your contributions.
Thanks and Regards.

koonbey: That has lapsed. It was for the Covid Winter period, IIRC.
donplus1 - the landlord has no obligation to extend your rent whether or not you find another place in so far as the term has expired and they've given you notice, which by your narration they've even exceeded.
The landlord cannot come and boot you out immediately but they can initiate eviction proceedings and secure a court order to evict you by force if necessary, and they might also be awarded costs against you, to cover their expenses in initiating the case.
Bear in mind that in the scenario above you'd have destroyed your chance of getting a good reference.
Ultimately, the only thing you can do is to step up your efforts to get a new place, and engage with your landlord to get them to extend you more time. Thanks for your input, I'm actually not relaxing, have done scores of viewings and still have one coming up on Wednesday this week , You know how accommodation issue can mess someone up real bad. May God help me! |

bigtt76: You never get you never get be that naaaa ...they can't come and throw out your belongings like they do in Naija. Besides winter is fast approaching, there's a law against a landlord evicting tenants during that period. Let them begin the legal process to evict you. But you need to also step up your effort in getting a place, no go de try use Naija style here oooo Thanks very much for your input. I'm just been extra careful to be on a safe side. Gracias sister! |
