According to tezzyblog, the man in a blue T-shirt is identified as Sunday Matias Ekeogu from Umunwachukwu village in Oboro-Umueze Community in Ogwa town in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State. The young man that is unclad is his son by name Chimereuche Ekeogu while the young pregnant girl is his daughter from a different woman. See the reactions below;

Though Mr. Sunday never married any of these children’s mothers, he is a super single father(SSF). The saddest and abominable story is that Mr. Sunday alongside his son Chimereuche has been sleeping with his own daughter/ sister to an extent that they got her pregnant. It got to the ear of the chairperson of the youth forum of the said village. After thorough investigations by the youths, men, women and children of the village, they decided to banish the three from the land.

The Supreme Court has nullified the election of a member of the Ondo state House of Assembly, representing Okitipupa constituency-2, Hon Sina Akinwumi.

The Apex court dismissed an appeal filed by Akinwumi and subsequently upheld the judgement of the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure that set aside the election of the APC lawmaker.

The Supreme Court unanimously validated the Certificate of return earlier issued to Hon James Ololade-Gbegudu by INEC as the lawmaker representing the constituency, for being the authentic winner of the APC primary.

Students, who reside in Auchi Polytechnic hostel, Estako West Local Government Area of Edo State have described the current situation within the institution as worrisome, calling on the school management to urgently arrest the ugly trend that may cause grievous harm to students, especially with the current alleged invasion of the hostel by reptiles.

The hostel inhabitants, comprising students, canteen operators and business owners, told our reporter that they now live in fear as they don’t know who may likely be the next casualty concerning the recent discovery of snakes that now fall from the hostel ceilings.

According to sources, “We now live in fear over the recent discovery of snakes in the hostel.

“We are living in fear in this hostel, snakes were found and killed yesterday in one of the girls hostels. Snakes are now everywhere and nothing is being done about it.

“Somebody (one of the girls) was bathing in the bathroom and a snake almost fell on her. She ran out naked. She was very lucky.

“Snakes are just everywhere as you see this hostel, even in the portals offices, snakes have taken over, we are just confused. They will not give us light to see or read despite the fact that some of us are writing examination”

“We are begging the school management to come to our aid and fumigate everywhere so we can be peaceful. Although management sent some persons to come and cut the grasses but look at it now, they don’t even look like grasses that were weeded. Not only the hostel, but they should also cut the grasses in the learning areas like Area 1, 2 and 3, ” he said.

Meanwhile, a quick check at the polytechnic premises from Area 1 to 3 shows that the institution needs special attention.

Reacting on the issue, the institution Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Osahiobugie, however, denied the narrative. He said the school hostel is placed on priority on the scale of preference as it concerns the students.

“Whether there is BEDC power or not, we have two giant generator set aside for students alone so that they can have adequate power supply. I’m happy you are an ex-student of the school, our hostel building is two storeys. We do spot check every the weeks and non of our ceilings is compromise, the roofs are ‘parafect’ well covered, how a snake we now fall from the ceiling, i don’t understand. So that is not correct maybe the students that told you do not reside in the Hostel”

“On the environment as it relates sanity, the horticulture staff are fully in charge but i will inform them right away to go and check the sports complex and every area concerned,” he added”

The Federal Government has approved a reduction in visa charges payable by United States citizens from $180 to $150.

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, explained on Wednesday, that the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, had been directed to implement the decrease in the visa charges with effect from Thursday.

The development was sequel to the new visa regime announced by the US Government on Tuesday, stating that Nigerians applying for US visas will be required to pay a visa issuance fee, or reciprocity fee, with effect from August 29.

The US Mission in Abuja had said that the reciprocity fee will be charged in addition to the nonimmigrant visa application fee, also known as the Machine Readable Visa fee, which all applicants pay at the time of application.

It explained that the reciprocity fee was applicable to all approved applications for nonimmigrant visas in B, F, H1B, I, L, and R visa classifications, noting that Nigerian citizens whose applications for a nonimmigrant visa were denied would, however,not be charged the new reciprocity fee.

The Mission explained that both reciprocity and MRV fees are non-refundable, and their amounts vary based on visa classification.

But the ministry in a statement by its spokesman, Mohammed Manga, said a committee set up to conduct due diligence in line with the ministry’s extant policy on reciprocity of visa fees had earlier engaged with the US embassy on the issue, adding that the implementation of its recommendations was delayed due to “transition processes in the ministry at the policy level.”

It said, “The committee had concluded its assignment and submitted a report, but the issuance of authorisation for its recommendations was delayed due to transition processes in the ministry at the policy level.

“The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has approved the decrease of visa charges payable by US citizens in line with reciprocity policy as recommended by the committee.

“Accordingly, the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, has been directed to implement the decrease in Nigeria’s visa charges to US Citizens with effect from August 29, 2019.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has attributed the partial closure of Nigeria’s border with Benin Republic to the massive smuggling activities especially of rice, taking place on that corridor.

The Nigerian leader gave the reason during an audience granted his Beninois counterpart, Patrice Talon, on the margins of the Seventh Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD7), in Yokohama, Japan on Wednesday.

Buhari, who expressed great concern over the smuggling of rice, said it threatened the self-sufficiency already attained due to his administration’s agricultural policies.

According to him, “Now that our people in the rural areas are going back to their farms, and the country has saved huge sums of money which would otherwise have been expended on importing rice using our scarce foreign reserves, we cannot allow smuggling of the product at such alarming proportions to continue.”

The Nigerian President said the limited closure of the country’s western border was to allow Nigeria’s security forces to develop a strategy on how to stem the dangerous trend and its wider ramifications.

Responding to the concerns raised by President Talon on the magnitude of suffering caused by the closure, Buhari said he had taken note and would reconsider reopening it in the not too distant future.

He, however, disclosed that a meeting with his counterparts from Benin and Niger Republics would soon be called to determine strict and comprehensive measures to curtail the level of smuggling across their borders.

Earlier, President Talon had said he called on the Nigerian President as a result of the severe impact which the closure of the Nigerian border was having on his people.

Buhari also received in audience, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa during which issues of common bilateral relations especially the killings of Nigerians in South Africa, were discussed. The matter will be further examined during the Nigerian leader’s official visit to Pretoria in October 2019.

The younger sister to the wife of Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, has been kidnapped by gunmen in the Asaba, the state capital.

Elizabeth was kidnapped at Temple Clinic junction, along Awain road close to the Government House in Asaba on Monday Night.

She is according to reports, the immediate younger sister of Dame Edith, Okowa’s wife.

She was driving around the metropolis in a black SUV when she was kidnapped by the gang.

The incident is said to have thrown the Governor, his wife and her entire family into trauma. This was said to have been the reason for the low key celebration of the 28th anniversary of the state.

The kidnappers are yet to contact the family or any government official as was quoted from a source by THE PUNCH.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has shifted its governorship primaries in Bayelsa State earlier scheduled for August 29 to August 31st.

The postponement was contained in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and acting National Secretary, Victor Giadom.

The letter explained that the shift was caused by planning and logistic reasons and apologized for inconveniences the development could cause the commission.

The letter said: “We wish to advise that due to planning and logistic reasons, we have rescheduled the conduct of our primary election in respect of the Bayelsa State Governorship election to now hold on Saturday, 31st August, 2019.

“While apologising for any inconveniences in your arrangements, please accept the assurances of our highest regards”.

The letter is, however, silent on the stormy issue of whether the party would adopt direct or indirect mode of conducting the primaries.

Party leaders and aspirants are divided on mode of primaries with some pushing for direct and others insisting on indirect.

There was pandemonium in Abakaliki on Wednesday as traders at the Abakpa main market clashed with revenue officials over Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) which allegedly led to the death of one person.

Incensed by the death, the traders rioted and were on the verge of vandalising shops of some the market leaders allegedly working with the government when Police intervened to disperse them.

A source at the market narrated that trouble started when the Special Adviser to Governor David Umahi on IGR, Martin’s Okwuegbu and the Commissioner for Internal Security and Border Peace, Stanley Emegha led some youths to collect the IGR from some traders in the market.

The youths it was gathered, were members of Ekubaraoha Youth Assembly (EYA).

The source alleged that the ‘revenue collectors’ were using the IGR collection as cover to close down the shops of some traders who took the state government to court over the leadership dispute in the market.

According to him, the traders had gone to court to challenge the removal of the market leadership before the expiration of their tenure and imposition of a new interim leadership on them by the state government.

“They came to the market and were taken to the shops of the traders that took them to court and they started closing their shops accusing them of not paying IGR”.

Reports reveal that a romance scam which kicked off between a Japanese woman and a Nigerian man who introduced himself as a US Army Captain stationed in Syria led the FBI to begin the clampdown on the scam ring.

According to the report, the man gave himself away as Captain Terry Garcia.

The report has it that after 10 months, the interactions between the man and the Japanese lady blossomed into romance for the woman who is listed as ‘F.K’ in charge documents – but this only ended up making her $200,000 poorer and nearing bankruptcy after she had had to borrow money from relatives and family members to meet up with the requests of ‘Capt. Garcia’.

The plan from Captain Garcia ran thus; he had sold the story of his plans to smuggle diamonds out of Syria and thus needed funding for the project.

But the truth, in reality, was that there were no diamonds anywhere and the whole charade was just a front to swindle her of her dollars.

According to the report, FBI began the probe into scam in 2016 with just one single bank account and victim but it spiralled off from there into a vast network of hundreds of victims, some of whom like FK had lost hundreds of dollars of their hard-earned money.

‘F.K. was and is extremely depressed and angry about these losses,’ the federal complaint states. ‘She began crying when discussing the way that these losses have affected her.’

Her relationship with ‘Garcia first began on March 2016, but soon after her digital pen pal began making ‘romantic overtures’.

He had convinced her that they could only chat and couldn’t talk by phone because he wasn’t allowed to use one while on military duty in the Middle-East.

The report states that FK made around 35 to 40 payments to Garcia to support the Syria diamond sham, receiving as many as 10 to 15 emails a day requesting her to send money to bank accounts in the US, Turkey and the UK.

It got interesting at a point as she was even threatened with arrest by the fraudsters if she failed to meet their payment demands.

At a stage, FK travelled to Los Angeles because a Russian bank manager had embezzled $33,000 of her money.

Each of the 80 defendants named in the indictment is charged with conspiracy to commit fraud, conspiracy to launder money as well as aggravated identity theft. Several also face additional fraud and money laundering charges.

According to the criminal complaint, the schemes used by the believed syndicate included fake business emails, online romances overtures and targeting of the elderly to steal at least $6 million, with attempts to take an additional $40 million from victims in the US and across the globe.

‘Those fraud schemes have evolved and become much more sophisticated. Nigerian fraud networks now target individuals and businesses alike,’ said U.S. Attorney Nick Hanna.

Paul Delacourt, the FBI Assistant Director in Charge, added: ‘The romance scams prey on vulnerable populations, but the BEC (Business Email Compromised fraud) victims are often reputable companies and conscientious employees who have been fooled by sophisticated cyber frauds into transferring money.’

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ‘Fia’ singer posed the challenge to his fans through his Twitter account @iam_davido on Thursday.

He tweeted, “Gimme a name for my Album. Three songs left to record !! I want a fan to name my Album.”

Fans went on to give their opinions on what the new album should be named, often debating among themselves.

Most of them, however, asked that the album be named Psalms after that bible book written by his namesake, King David.

@Jaymiller1 said, “You can also use ‘psalms'cause guess who wrote it? King David.”

@Badass_Nigerian wrote, “Psalm. Psalm was written by king David. This would be an album mad by a king named Davido.”

The 2012 album also contained six additional singles, ‘Back When’, ‘Ekuro’, ‘Overseas’, ‘All of You’, ‘Gbon Gbon’ and ‘Feel Alright’.

The album won Best R&B/Pop Album and received a nomination for Album of the Year at 2013 Headies Award.

The same was also nominated for Best Album of the Year at the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

In 2018, Davido became the first African-based artist to have received his award on the BET Awards main stage.

The Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria, has described as embarrassing the listing of the Church by the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, as one of the tax defaulting companies.

It was gathered that the Government revenue agency had listed the church alongside 19,901 other accounts that were yet to regularise their tax status.

A statement it posted to that effect had read: “This is to notify all Companies, which had their Bank Accounts placed under Lien by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) pursuant to Section 31 of the FIRS Act, but are yet to regularise their tax status with the FIRS, that if they fail, refuse or neglect to pay the tax due within 30 days of this Notice, the FIRS shall in accordance with Section 49 (2) (a- d) of the FIRS Act proceed and enforce the payment of the said tax against all the Directors, Managers, Secretaries and every other person concerned in the management of the Companies and recover the said tax from such persons without further notice.”

Reacting on Thursday through a statement in Enugu by its General Secretary Rev Dr Godwin Amaowoh, Assemblies of God Church said its listing among the category of tax defaulters was a height of official recklessness.

While describing the development as an act fueled by ignorance, the Church demanded the immediate retraction of the said publication.

“We received with bewilderment and embarrassment publications classifying the Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria among tax defaulting companies.

“It came to us with huge surprise considering that at no time had religious organizations been taxable in Nigeria, and how the Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria, now became an exception beats our imagination.

“It is either the person who did this categorization and fueled the publications in some online media outfits did so out of ignorance or it was an act of mischief. We say ignorance in the sense that the person who listed the Assemblies of God into list of defaulters may need to be taught that Churches are not taxable, or mischief as the person may have chosen to deliberately embarrass the Church.

“Either way, we demand that for whatever intent and purpose, the said misleading and embarrassing publication should be retracted by the FIRS.

“The Assemblies of God is a law-abiding Church and would not allow its name to be dragged into an act of lawlessness and disobedience to the extant laws of the land.

“For the avoidance of doubts, The Assemblies of God Nigeria as Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission is a non-profit making Organization and the Law respects That”

“While we await the FIRS to do the needful in this regard, we urge all our members to remain calm as there is no cause for alarm,” he said.

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, on Thursday, released its report on the investigation into the rape scandal surrounding the Senior Pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo.

CAN had given the PFN two weeks to submit report of its probe into the rape allegation against the Senior Pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, Biodun Fatoyinbo.

Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, PFN’s National Publicity Secretary, Bishop Emma Isong disclosed that Fatoyinbo ignored the panel that was set up to investigate the accusations against him.

PFN, while declaring the investigation ‘inconclusive’, stated however that Busola and her husband, Timi Dakolo appeared before the panel.

Recall that Busola, wife of Timi Dakolo had in weeks past disclosed details of how Fatoyinbo allegedly raped her when she was a teenager.

Fatoyinbo, however, denied the allegation, saying he has never forced himself on any woman in his life.
