The Peoples Democratic Party has accused President Buhari of reducing ministers to his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari’s clerical aides with the directive that they (ministers) must channel all their meeting requests to him through Kyari.

PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement said it was an indication that Nigerians would not enjoy good governance during Buhari’s second term.

The PDP invites Nigerians to note President @MBuhari’s contemptible approach to governance and disregard to ministerial portfolios as portrayed in the recent degrading of ministers to clerical aides of Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari.

“The directive also suggests that Mr President as the Minister of Petroleum Resources will also go through the Chief of Staff on policy matters. He has abdicated his responsibility and ceded it to his Chief of Staff.”

Ologbondiyan also said such demotion of ministers was unacceptable, counter-productive, adding that it only reduced governance to a domestic affair.

The President had on Tuesday, at the close of the two-days retreat organised for the ministers, asked them to always go through Kyari for meeting requests and through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, for issues relating to the Federal Executive Council.

“As I said yesterday (Tuesday), in terms of coordinating communication, kindly ensure that all submissions for my attention or meeting requests be channelled through the Chief of Staff while all Federal Executive Council matters be coordinated through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in order to speed up the process of decision-making.”

Senator Elisha Abbo's trial at the Zuba Chief Magistrates’ Court, in Abuja, was stalled today as he failed to appear in court. Abbo is standing trial for assaulting a nursing mother at a intimacy gadget shop in Abuja sometime in May.

At the resumed hearing of the case today, his counsel, Adegbite Adeniyi, told the court that the Senator is ill and could not make it to court today.

”MY LORD MY CLIENT IS SUFFERING FROM ACUTE FEBRILE (MEDICAL TERM USED TO DESCRIBE A SUDDEN FEVER OR ELEVATION IN BODY TEMPERATURE)” HE SAID.

Adeniyi presented a medical report to the court and claimed Abbo was on admission in a hospital in Yola, Adamawa. 

The Magistrate, Abdullahi Ilelah, adjourned the case until September 24th for hearing.

The Osun Government has declared Tuesday, August 20th as a public holiday to mark the 2019 Traditional Worshippers’ Day, also known as ‘’Isese Day.”

Obawale Adebisi, the Supervisor for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Culture and Tourism , announced this on Monday in Osogbo. Adebisi, however, appealed to traditional worshippers to be peaceful and law abiding in their conduct during and after the festive period.

He enjoined the worshippers to use the festive period to pray for the state government and other stakeholders saddled with the responsibilities of moving the state to the next level of accomplishment.

Adebisi also appealed to them to continue to support government through prompt payment of taxes and levies for the development of the state. He further urged them to continue to live in harmony with other religious bodies in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has disclosed why Atiku Abubakar, the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was not declared winner of the February 23 election.

INEC told the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja that it was satisfied that Atiku did not secure majority of lawful votes cast during the election.

The country’s electoral umpire stated this in a final written address it filed before the Justice Mohammed Garba-led five-member panel tribunal, INEC, through its lawyers led by Mr. Yunus Usman SAN, seeking the dismissal of Atiku’s petition on the outcome of the 2019 presidential election.

Denying the allegation that votes were illegally awarded to the All Progressives Congress, APC, to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari was re-elected for a second term, INEC insisted that the petitioners failed to justify why a fresh election should be conducted.

It said: “We refer to the relevant paragraphs of the petition where the petitioners made the sundry allegations of deliberate wrong entry/falsification of election results by the 1st Respondent.

“Clearly, it can be gleaned that nothing concrete or specific has been offered by the Petitioners in this regard.

“For example, the petitioners pleaded wrong and deliberate entry of wrong results by the 1st Respondent in 11 states of the country, namely: Borno, Yobe, Bahchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger and Zamfara States.

“Thereafter, the petitioners proceeded to break down this allegation State by State.

“However, a cursory appraisal of paragraph 155(4) of the petition dealing with this allegation of ‘posting wrong results’ to the non-existent 1st Respondent’s server and not the wrongful entry of the results in the physical /manual Form EC8 series.

“The most astonishing part is that the petitioners failed to call witnesses who were at the various Units to observe these various alleged anomalies.

“We submit that allegations bordering on alleged wrong entry/falsification of election result are criminal in nature and must be proved beyond reasonable doubt.

“Furthermore, by virtue of section 150(1) of the Evidence Act, the results declared by the 1st Respondent enjoy a presumption of regularity. Accordingly, the petitioners herein are duty bound to rebut this presumption with credible evidence”.

The electoral commission said Atiku failed to show how the number of votes cancelled affected the votes he got.

It added: “We submit that it is trite law that not only is the petitioner duty-bound to prove each and every allegation on non-compliance; he is also expected to prove that such non-compliance substantially affected the result of the election. See BUHARI V OBASANJO (supra), NYESOM WIKE V DAKUKU &ORS (supra).

“We humbly submit from the foregoing that the petitioners have failed to prove the allegation of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, and indeed every other allegation contained in the petition. The petition, therefore, lacks merit and should be thrown out on this point and this honourable court is urged so to do.

“In the instant petition, the petitioners called 62 witnesses in proof of their petition. Only 5 were polling agents, while 5 were Assistant Presiding Officers, who incidentally had no problem with the conduct of the election but only came to assert that they transmitted the election result to a fictitious and non-existent server.

“The rest of the witnesses called are Ward, Local Government, State or National Collation Agents. And the aim of the petitioner is to use them to prove allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act during the Presidential Elections in 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. What a mission impossible!

“The eyes of the parties and candidates in an election at the Polling Unit are their respective agents and voters who were present to cast their votes. Consequently, in calling witnesses in proof of these allegations, these class of individuals are indispensable.

“Taking a rational, reasonable and critical examination and assessment of the evidence placed before this honorable court, one cannot but submit most humbly that the elements of the allegations of corrupt practices against the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Respondents have not been proved at all talk less of proof beyond reasonable doubt”.

The Senate Chief Whip Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has advised Igbo youth to respect their elders.

The two-term Abia state governor was reacting to the recent attack on the former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu on Saturday at the second annual Igbo Cultural Festival in Nuremberg, Germany.
Reacting to the attack, Kalu described it as uncivilised, unacceptable, barbaric and a slap on Igbo leaders regardless of age, party affiliation and religion.

He said the only way the Southeast region could be prosperous was for the Igbo you to respect their elders at all levels and “to embrace dialogue, peace and unity.”

The Abia Senator called on the Embassy of Nigeria in Germany and the German authority to bring the perpetrators of to book.

In a statement, Senator Kalu said, “After watching a viral video of the physical attack on former Deputy President of the Senate Sen. Ike Ekweramadu, I was not only disappointed but irritated and disturbed with the action of some members of IPOB, stating that the assault “is a slap on Igbo leaders.”

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, wrote an open letter to President Buhari yesterday, July 21, 2019, over the insecurity explosion in different parts of the country.

The Oyo monarch in his letter title “Yoruba Question in Nigeria Conundrum”, blamed the insecurity almost on all highways in Yorubaland on Fulani herdsmen. Maintaining that his confidence in Buhari getting the situation under control remains unshaken, the Alaafin of Oyo added that the Yorubas have all it takes to defend itself if the situation does not improve.

“This has to do with the incessant and increasing menace of Fulani herdsmen that have laid siege in almost all the highways of Yoruba land. Whether in Owo, Akure, Ilesa/Ife-Ibadan road or Ibarapa zone and Ijebu area of Ogun State, the story is the same.

“I have held series of consultations with opinion moulders and eminent Yoruba leaders across board about the menace of these cattle herdsmen with such assault like raping of our women and in some occasions, in the presence of their husbands. That is apart from massive destruction of our agricultural lands; which ultimately points to imminent starvation," the letter read in part.

There was pandemonium in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, when the people of Jimrawa village in the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of the state took the body of one of their people killed by bandits to the Government House to let the government know that the peace dialogue initiated to end banditry was not working. Thickmatch.com reports'

The sight of the villagers, who took several motorbikes to the Government House, made many people in Gusau to run for their lives, thinking there was a breakdown of security.

The people were received at the Government House by the state police commissioner, Usman Nagogo, as both the governor and his deputy were not in the state.

According to the villagers, despite the peace accord reached by the government, the bandits and the volunteer groups, innocent people were still being killed in the state. They said over 30 people from the village had been killed by suspected Fulani bandits within the last few days, with the peace accord in place.

They said unless an urgent action was taken, they would be left with no option but to flee from the village to avoid becoming victims of such attacks.

Nagogo, who attended the funeral of the murdered person, expressed disgust over the incident. He assured the villagers that something would be done as soon as possible to end the problem.

Peruzzi recounted how hard it was for him to believe that his distant cousin Chioma was dating Davido, as he talked about how his relationship with the DMW boss began.

According to the Peruzzi, he first got news of Chioma dating Davido after his mother's burial which was also when he noticed that Davido was always supporting his songs and brand on his social media platform.

He said, “After my mother’s burial; I was going home and someone sent me a message on Twitter, commending my song. The person asked if I remembered her. After she explained who she was, I remembered her. She told me Davido sent my song to her. I didn’t believe it. She further told me that they were dating and she is like my distant cousin, so I didn’t even see it coming.

“I felt like how can she be dating Davido and I wouldn’t know since. She was able to convince me after she sent me some pictures; she told me he was going to be around the next day. She invited me to his welcome party and I went there around 2 am at Club 57.

“Once Davido entered with his entourage, I was scared. He was facing me, but I didn’t know what to do. I moved to see him carefully. He looked at me and called my name. I was happy and I held him. He told me he loved my songs and that I should come to his house. That was the best night of my life. I sent Chioma a text; that I was with him.

“I couldn’t sleep that night because I was too excited. She (Chioma) is my mother’s cousin’s daughter. But she is my cousin; that is how we refer to each other. I don’t have a proper contract with Davido; he is my guy so I am not worried about that. Some people have lived with him for years without any contract.”

On how he felt after he was insulted for wearing Davido’s clothes, Peruzzi told Saturday Beats;

“How would you see something you like and you can’t tell your male friend that you like it? I told him I liked an outfit and he gave it to me. I have come to realise that no matter what I do, people would talk. I don’t let it get to me.”


He also talked about selling his car to buy some drugs for his ailing mother before she died, and completing his degree in medicine and surgery:

“When we realised my mother was diagnosed with cancer; I had to put my car on auction immediately. I wanted to quickly send money to people to help me get the drugs she needed. I could only get the drugs from India but they still didn’t work. I still see myself going back to complete my degree in medicine and surgery but I don’t see myself sitting in the hospital.”
