Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana has fired back at the Department of State Services (DSS) over its claim of no one coming to pick #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore after it acknowledged a court order for his release.


Sowore's lead counsel, Femi Falana disclosed that other lawyers representing the media personality waited in vain for his release for over four hours at DSS headquarters in Abuja.



“On 6/11/19 the bailiff of the federal high court wanted to serve the reproduction warrants issued by the court on the Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS). But the SSS asked the Bailiff to call back at 10.00 am on 7/11/19. The bailiff did and was able to serve the reproduction warrants on the DG of the SSS,” he said.

“Upon acknowledging the service of the reproduction warrants the SSS assured the bailiff and five lawyers from the defence team that our clients would be released yesterday. But the SSS decided not to release our clients to our lawyers who waited in vain in the agency’s headquarters for not less than 4 hours.

“When Sowore said that he would not make a statement without first consulting with me the SSS management called me on phone on 6/8/19. Assuming the SSS had wanted to release our clients since yesterday the management would have contacted me.

“It is pertinent to point out that the meaning of reproduction warrant issued by a trial court is that the defendants be produced for the purpose of releasing them having met their bail conditions. In the instant case, the
federal high court did not order the SSS to hand over Messrs Sowore and Bakare to any person but to produce them for the purpose of releasing them having met the suffocating bail conditions imposed on them by the trial court.

“Even though the SSS disobeyed the order of the Honourable Justice Taiwo for the release of Mr. Sowore on 24/9/19 it has turned round to announce its readiness to comply with the order of the Honourable Justice Ifeoma Ojukwu for the release of Sowore and Bakare from illegal custody.”



The Senior Advocate of Nigeria who urged Sowore to call off his hunger strike said they've been directed to contact the DSS on Saturday November 9, for the release of the #RevolutionNow convener.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom
Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue says he has dismantled all devils in the Government House and the state that hinders progress.

The governor said this during a Special Thanksgiving Service organised in his honour by the Independent Print-Media Publishers Association of Nigeria (IPPAN), at the Chapel of Grace, Government House, Makurdi on Sunday.

He said, “Since my arrival, I have dedicated a special time on daily basis to be with God because He works in miraculous ways; those working against me are wasting their time and will never succeed.

“I have dismantled the devils in Benue Government House; they cannot come near us again. The devil does not have a place in our government house again.

“I am not afraid of any human being. I once heard that some people are planning to kill my security aides, kidnap me and dismember me parts by parts until I die, but I have told them that God will not allow that to happen.

“I have brought myself close to God; there is no turning back. When people plan against me, l will always floor them because God is with me,” he said.

According to the Twitter user, the young man quit his bank job to become a surf instructor for tourist. When queried on why he quit, the young man stated that he is tired of the fiercely competitive struggle in the job.

An acquaintance recently quit his bank job as SBO, moved out of his 3 bedroom apartment at Ikeja and relocated to Tarkwa Bay to smoke weed and be a surf instructor for tourist. Far from the life I want but damn you can hear the genuine happiness in his voice when he speaks. Dude said he was tired of the rat race. Plus the tranquil, clean oxygen, the relaxed vibe, etc the beach rings.

Wednesday dawn birthed torrential rains that spanned for over six hours amidst heavy winds and thunder.

The effects of the rain have had devastating impacts on various parts of the campus as many hostels that houses students and major road paths leading to the campus were practically left defunct.


The rain, as reports indicate started around 1.00 am Wednesday dawn.

At the time of writing this report, the rain was still pouring which is indicative of even further rain and a worsening of the flood situation.

The devastating nature of the rains led to the flooding of several hostels and major roads. Affected communities were Ayensu, Amamomaa and certain parts of the main campus including Valco Hall and the areas from Casford Hall to the banks located around the Casford field.


Additionally, lectures have been cancelled and students have been advised to stay safe indoors. The SRC has issued a communique to this effect.


The hashtag #uccstayindoors was widely shared across multiple social media platforms which prompted the Directorate of Students Affairs to issue an official communique to that regard.

Barely 24 hours after video of a fight between police officers and Vehicle Inspection Officers over vehicle inspection right had gone viral, another video of a vehicle information officer collecting bribes in Jos emerges.

The incident occured at British road, Jos, the capital of Plateau state.

Inside the video, the Vehicle Inspection Officer is seen making calls to a superior officer, asking the amount of money he should collect from the driver as bribe.

Both the driver and the Vehicle Inspection Officer could be seen conversing in the video as the driver hands over little amount of money to the Vehicle officers which was rejected by him but he later collected the sum of #3000 as bribe from the driver.

According to the aggrieved lady, her friend had an accident in the frontage of a hospital located in Abuja.

However, when he was rushed to the nearby hospital for immediate treatment they reportedly rejected him which led to his demise.

A former minister of works, Adeseye Ogunlewe has said that Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has achieved more than any prominent politician in the south-west.


The former minister said this in an interview with Daily Independent, saying that Tinubu has achieved more than the late Obafemi Awolowo and MKO , acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

He expressed optimism that Tinubu would lead well if he gets elected as Nigeria’s president.

“He (Tinubu) is the most prominent Yoruba person that has paid his dues and is knowledgeable about the politics of Nigeria. I am confident he can lead Nigeria well if he becomes president,” he said.

How can I say that the north will deny Tinubu and he will end up like MKO Abiola? All these people are enemies of progress… Hasn’t he (Tinubu) done more than MKO Abiola? Hasn’t he done more than Awolowo?”

” Maybe not in terms of perfomance but he has more in terms of skills, wisdom. Look at the way he has been able to cover all parts of Nigeria.
