Since your friend is going as a tourist, probably they'll tell him to provide hotel bookings and bank statement. So it is wise to still maintain healthy bank account.

SportsRe: Arsenal Or Super Eagles: Which Is Worse? by dotcomnamename: 9:35pm On Jan 04, 2013
Johnnoah1st: “Gunners for life”!!! ... Are
you freaking kidding
mehuh Chant not that
phrase at me any more if
you don’t want both
hands of mine shoved
down your throat. OK, I'm
kidding. But on a serious
note, please don’t. ?
Sometimes, I ponder which
is worse; being a
supporter of Arsenal FC
or of the Super Eagles (or
Nigerian football in
general). Both teams are
high-end distributors of
hypertension.
You know, growing up, I
had no choice but to love
football. I was born into a
family where my father
had so much passion for
football; all I had to do
was follow suit.
Once I became a lover of
football, supporting
Nigeria was no more a
choice, it became an
obligation.
I remember Atlanta 96
(Olympic Games), I and my
Dad (funny enough, I’m
the only one of 5 kids,
who has love for football)
stayed up all nights to
see our games including
the 4-3 defeat of Brazil in
the semi-finals and later
on Argentina in the
Finals.
Those were however,
some of the rare
highlights of being a fan
of Nigerian football as far
as my age is concerned
(not too old neither too
young cheesy).
Further down memory
lane, being a fan has had
some exciting moments
but it only gets worse as
the years go by. Nigerian
football (Under17, 20, 23;
Super Eagles, Super
Falcons, Falconets,
Flamingos) has become a
hyper-giving sport for
passionate lovers of the
game.
Well, the reason for
decadence in Nigerian
football is not far-fetched
as I wouldn't expect much
from a country with bad
governance.
Arsenal Football Club are
not far different from the
Super Eagles. Both teams
get your hopes so high
and then dash them when
you thought “this is it”.
But the only major
difference would be
management.
You see, I became a fan
of the North London Club
by choice and it’s still by
choice although I find it
difficult bowing out (I
perceive the use of
voodoo a.k.a illuminatti
syndrome).
How I got myself involved
with this “next season”
English club, is something
I wouldn’t thank Nwankwo
Kanu (the hero of Atlanta
96) for.
Nigerian football Legend,
Kanu, made me like the
Gunners. His miracle at
Stamford Bridge against
Chelsea FC in 1999 was
the “liking point”.
The Gunners have had
their own good spell of
glorious moments. But just
like Nigeria and every
other team, they have
also had their
“blackouts”; with the
blackouts steadily leading
the contest.
Only just recently the
North London side were
treated to their regular
eviction party as THEY
(no more referring to
them as WE) were
bundled out of the Capital
One Cup. Guess who
knocked THEM
out...........BRADFORD CITY!!!.
No disrespect to the
Division II side though,
but you would’ve
expected a club like
ARSENAL to make me
proud. THEY never did.
Now the question on my
mind is “being a fan of
Arsenal, is it good or
bad”?
The answer is......................it
is BAD!!!
I will start by pointing out
the key features of this
club or should I say what
every has now known the
club to be in the past 8
years, no thanks to the
Frenchman, Arsene
self-servicer, sorry... I meant,
Arsene Wenger.
Inconsistency: Ever
pondered why a team
would win a game by as
much as 5, 6 goals and
lose their next game with
a dismal performance and
not even to a better
team? Ponder no more,
it’s Arsenal. It’s become a
trademark for the North
London team. The
Gunners are more
confused than the wind or
should I say MTN.
Please don’t let your life
be that way. Be consistent
in success. Yeah, they
won 7-3 against
Newcastle, good! Let’s
pray they win their next
match.
Trophy-less in 8
seasons: As an adult,
living for eight years
without achieving a single
thing? Deliverance will be
advised.
“Next season” chants:
Arsenal fans are fond of
the “next season”
phrase. “Next season we
will win a trophy”. That is
something I call ”hopeful
hopelessness”.
You expect things to
change but you don’t
change the way you do
things...Are you a
learner? What are you
expecting... divine
intervention right? Keep
on waiting, it is coming.
Being contented with
finishing second, third or
fourth to the
champion: Wenger was
quoted to have said that
finishing fourth in the
league and securing a
Champions league spot is
better than winning the
league or FA cup. What
the heckhuh
My brothers and sisters
please reject that for
your life. It is a loser’s
spirit straight from the pit
of hell. Why would you
always want to walk in the
shadows of a champion,
don’t you ever want to be
in that Hall of fame? Once
again, bind and rebuke
such spirit.
Buy inferior players and
expect Messiless delivery
from them: For goodness
sakes, Arsenal is the fifth
richest football club in the
world. THEY have the
money to spend on
Cristiano Ronaldo
(including his manicure,
pedicure and hair salon
expenses) if they want to.
But nooooo!!! They would
rather buy a “Chinko
blackberry and expect it
to ping”.In life, you are
expected to always go for
the best when the money
is there. Imagine Dangote
driving around in Gulf 2
(no offence to owners of
that cool ride...Just an
illustration) O_O.
Sell Gold and buy dozens
of Copper:Who does this
better than Arsene
self-servicer?...sorry once
again, I meant Arsene
Wenger.Everyman is
expected to have a good
taste for awesome things,
but the North Londoners
do exactly the opposite.
They sell craftsmen and
replace them with “make
believe” craftsmen (Van
Persie ? Giroud; Nasri ?
Gervinho; Fabregas ?
Ramsey; Song ?Arteta;
and many more). There
are other salient features
of the Emirates Stadium
club side but I’m done for
now. If you still deem it fit
to be a true and
passionate supporter,
good luck! As for me I
think I’ve had enough of
their loser’s instincts.
And if you think the Club’s
way of life is not affecting
the way you reason, think
again, because you need
to start reasoning like a
champion and not 2nd,
3rd, or 4th to nobody.
I’m club-less (a lil bit
attached to the ‘next
season’ club though) for
now...waiting for good
offers.
However, I’ve been
thinking Manchester City
and Real Madrid. cheesy
Na only u go remain on this thread till further notice. Idiotic & Stupidity. Gunners 4life.

Davedavy: Yes I know someone who was denied, appealed and eventually got the visa. He was sponsored by his company for training, all costs covered by his company yet he was initially denied until he appealed. Though the process took a very long time(i cant remember precisely how long, but i know it was more than 4 months),he missed the training and had to register for another one.
So that means my friend's appeal might be considered unnecessary since he wanted to travel for only 7 days between January 2013 ending and early February 2013, so the Appeal Board & french Embassy might said the intended date of travel has passed already... or it does not matter?
CelebritiesAnother Open Letter To ''Tonto Dike'' by dotcomnamename(op): 7:00pm On Jan 04, 2013
I got this email this afternoon, happy reading eventhough I don't enjoy mails like this type.

Hello Lady super star Tonto Dike,

I have seen so much about your type to be able to say you and iyanya will not last for obvious reasons. I am not saying you may not last but I am saying both of you will not last.

Life is like a seed, what so ever a man sows, the same he or she shall reap. You have no business talking at Yvonne the way the press has reported you to be saying, I am in Nigeria now and from all I read, you are feeling like an angelic star just because you have iyanya now. If iyanya is dating you currently, face iyanya and not yvonne. Let iyanya be the one to clean his own mess. Its not in your place to clean it for him. You did not date Yvonne, Iyanya did so
stop talking back at her its not in your place to do that.

Also, your talking the way you do may suggest that you stole him from her. If that is the case, some one else will steal him from you either today or later but yours will be like a double jeopardy. I want to believe Iyanya left her and moved on and not because you had a hand in the break up.

Tonto Dike, you must know that Iyanya is a young musician and as they perform at events, they change cloths. Hold on to him well because he will change and replace you like another cloth.

It is not in our place as Nigerians and Africans to celebrate the tears of another. Here is your African sister suffering not just from a heartbreak but from an open heartbreak and all you do is mock her, that is a bad seed you are sowing. I hope she does not get the last laugh.

As you date iyanya, I hope he stays because from what I know, that song still says 'All I want is your waste' I hope yours is strong enough because he may have moved to you because that of Yvonne was not.

Have fun and I hope you keep him Lady super star.

Susan P.

The pilot was able to control d situation with one engine and we took a U turn back to Lagos Airport. Wot am I trying to say here...it's not about Aero or Arik or even KLM. It's God dat protects and we must add it up with a good safety culture. If not for God and d courage of d pilots...it would have been another news God forbid.I remember hearing dat was d same experience with d DANA flight but the pilot kept goin since most aircraft can fly with one engine. But unfortunately, the only available engine couldn't land in Lagos. Dat was a total deviation from safety standards. If they had turned back to Abuja like we did this morning, perhaps doz 160 souls wud have been alive today.Aero actually has a good maintainance culture....but in the long run, Safety is in God's hands.

UK appeal is very straight forward and easy if you have more evidence.. I got my woman's UK visa base on appeal. And some of my friends got theirs through appeal too... So UK appeal is straightforward, and i love it because they wont biased, they will decide your appeal base on evidence you submit. Not like the French Embassy that are so racist...

What took me to prison? The person who even said it knew my background, we all grew up together in the academics here in Lagos and in terms of family background. What did Justice Oyewole say we stole there? He said no kobo was missing, but that we disobeyed a Federal Government circular in Lagos State Court. If it were not political then what? Then you now have the mind to say that would denigrate me and allow me to disappear in a hole so that they can take over the party. But the people said no, I didn’t force myself. shocked shocked shocked

EIGHT months after one of the aircraft in its fleet crashed in Iju/Ishaga, Lagos, killing over 160 people and leading to the suspension of its licence, Dana Air will today, recommence flight operations to Abuja.

According to information gathered, the airline would have resumed flight operations two weeks ago but had to postpone it due to its inability to get approval from the Ministry of Aviation despite receiving the go-ahead from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

NCAA had given the condition that before it could commence flight operations, it must commence the last payment of $70, 000 compensation to the families of the victims. The airilne met the condition two weeks ago.

The Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah on Monday, gave approval for Dana Air to resume flight operations.

A letter personally signed by the minister and addressed to the Director-General, NCAA, Dr Harold Demuren, on 31st December, 2012 with reference number FMA/ATMD/502/S.835/11/56 and entitled Re: Release of Dana Airline to return to flight operations, gave approval for the airline to return to flight operations.

The letter, which was made available to some journalists, however, gave a proviso for the airline to return to operations.

Oduah, in the letter stated that the airline should complete payment of all insurance obligations and claims within two months to the dependents of the victims of the crash.

She also ordered the airline to abide by the safety regulations of NCAA.

TravelRe: Appeal Or Reapply For France Schengen Visa by dotcomnamename: 8:32pm On Jan 01, 2013
Davedavy: The advice you quoted was purely an advice on how things should be done to stand a better chance and not a promise of 100% visa issuance once done, when it comes to visa matters, it’s a lot more complicated.

Issuance of visas are at the ‘discretion’ of VO’s,if things are done right, you stand a better chance of issuance but regardless of any amount of documents you submit or how well you convince the VO of your worthiness for the visa, the ambiguous word ‘discretion’ might still come into play.

My sister and her friend applied for a US visiting visa few months ago, they work in the same company, submitted the same type of documents, they even booked the same hotel, my sister was issued while her friend was denied. Both were first time applicants.

VO’s are human beings like the rest of us, sometimes their decisions are based on emotions, discriminations, partiality rather than the laid out procedure, which is why the appeal process is there to checkmate unfairness to visa applicants.
Yes you're very correct... I understand that VISA is not a Right, but privilege, and to meet it up applicant must meet the requirements... But you've said it all that sometimes their decisions are based on discrimination, partiality rather than the laid out procedure

Have you any idea time scale for their appeal? And have you seen or heard of anyone issued visa through appeal at the French Embassy?

Thanks for your contribution !
