torres2: secondary market should be completed within hours now. It doesn't extend to the next day IMO. My experience with first secondary market is what I speak from though. FBN always slow in Treasury Bills. My own department [ Diaspora department ] is even worse. They can spend 30 days before they reply |

I have offended so many people like friends/relatives even during my recent visit to Nigeria. I will always bluntly tell them: ''No, i can never deliver anything for anybody from Nigeria to anywhere in abroad. Is either you accept me with my policy or fvck off'' |

mashaun: Kudos to all Gurus in this house, Wonderful job...I read A-Z practical operation of TB investment in Nigeria here, Yes here ! and just yesterday i decided to put the lessons into practice. I approached 1 FBN branch, i got 78 days @ 13% (500k investment). I submitted the form immediately since i bank with them. Until this moment my account has not been debited to indicate actions.
I hope all is well ? If yes, when is my returns likely to be credited?
Thank you. They will debit it. Just be patient. |

Investnow2017: Even as the rates are going down. Anything less than 15% is low. Unacceptable. It does not make any financial sense to go to the Primary Market, when all you are doing is 91days or even 182days, when you can always get something reasonably better at similar tenors in the Secondary Market.
We have always harped on this in this Forum: From experience, to get favourable bargains, the following are good banks:
Stanbic Bank - Primary Market First Bank - Secondary Market (endeavour to be at the bank possibly before 9am, but not Fridays, you can still get 16-17% or thereabout)
If you ask me, Primary Market is best when you are looking at 364days tenor. Why wait for an auction when all you are doing is 91days or 182days when you can get better rates at the Secondary Market at comparative tenors. Apart from the yields involved, always know too that TIME is equally an asset in Money Market investing.
Just my loud thoughts, though . Exactly! |

emmanuelewumi: It depends on what the seller got in the primary market and the initial tenor of the investment.
A person who got 13.5% for 91 days in the primary market and decided to sell after 4 days leaving the secondary market buyer with 87 days, is different from a person who got 364 days at 18.5% in the primary market and decided to sell after 277 days leaving the secondary market buyer with 87 days.
In the first instance the 87 days may yield 13%, while in the second example 87 days may yield 18%. The 87 days at 13.5% FBN was in the secondary market not primary market. Think its too low? |

skydiver01: Agree rates of 18% are over for now... Don't agree sub 10% is possible before December 2017... Inflation would need to be back to single digits... not likely this year. I think long dated TB discount rates will be at worst inflation rate minus 2%. And that even would be an anomaly in the TB market. ''Agree rates of 18% are over for now''Does that mean i was lucky to have invested 5m on 18% 177days in July? |

priscaver: Hello fellow investors I need your suggestions and advice please. I sold my shares up to 120k and told my brokers to reinvest in treasury bills but they said they are not into it. They suggested skuk and FGN bonds. Am not conversant with these investments my questions are 1. They said I can't buy TB on my own cept I have up to millions and I hear others talk of secondary makts here. Can that amount buy in sec mkts? 2. If am buying wit sec mkts must I go thru my brokers?
3. From the explanations and risks mentioned here do I go ahead and accept d 2year FGN bonds suggested by my brokers?
4. If an individual can buy TB in sec mkts do banks like GTB and UBA sell or its done only in some banks mentioned on this thread?
Thank you all as I look forward to your contributions Don't mind them O!. I'm sick and tired of exposing those bankers when it comes to Treasury Bills. The moment they hear you want to invest your money into Treasury Bills they start hating you, they just hate that because thats where they will also invest your money into. Just walk in to your bank and insist you want to invest your money in Treasury Bills, period! . Pretend as if you know much about it and you know what you but you don't just want to talk too much but all you want is Treasury Bills application form. Chikena! |

Houstency: Be very wary of firms or wonder Investment houses that offer rates that look too good to be true. Do your due diligence on them very very Well Sir, to avoid stories that touch! With your kind of money to be invested, shop around for banks and branches, that can give you very good rates for treasury bills in the secondary market. Regards Ill rather go to Bank than any other private Investment House that offer rates that look too good to be true |

megacontrol: Guys in thinking short term (about 60days or so) which direction should i be looking to invest a fund that i don't quite need for now. T-bilss vs MMF vs Fixed deposit (good rate)
Fixed Deposit: So far from my little research renmoney could do 20%p.a. on 10m, this will fetch me about 313k in 60days. I don't know if other institutions will beat that but that profit of 313k will form my minimum/base for comparison.
So my question to the experts in the house is: Can i do better than that with T-bills or MMF given the short tenure? If yes, how?
Note: I am definitely liquidating at the end of the 60-70days tenure to utilise the funds.I need to make a decision quickly and push the funds out.
Thanks a lot Treasury Bills is the best! Your money is safe. |
