Poverty drives some Kenyans to rent out their wives Poverty and unpredictable tourism industry forcing men on the east coast to send spouses into prostitution. by Osman Mohamed Osman Kwale, Kenya - It's a cloudy day morning in Kenya's Kwale county and Sande Nikra just woke up to get ready for another weekend of work. Wearing a green vest and khaki shorts, he washes his face and proceeds to the living room where his wife Janet Wambui serves him breakfast. "Thanks for waking me up, I hate being late for my client," the dreadlocked father of three tells his wife. "She asked me to be with her until next weekend," he adds as he sips black tea. Nikra is a male sex worker. Wambui, his tall dark-skinned wife, works in the same industry. She came back home two nights ago after spending 10 days with a German tourist in an expensive cottage house, a few kilometres from Maweni village where the couple resides. Nikra and Wambui have been married for 20 years now. But it wasn't always like this. One day in 2006, nikra was hawking clothes to tourists along Diani Beach in Kwale town, 30km southwest of Mombasa, when a German tourist approached him. He wanted a lady to spend some time with until his holiday ended. The 37-year-old, who speaks fluent German and teaches his wife the language, promised the man he would introduce him to his sister. "My husband came home that evening and asked me if I can act as his sister and take up the offer. After a few days of deliberation, I agreed," says Wambui, 38, sitting near Nikra while tightening her black scarf. Wambui saw how life changed for other women who entered prostitution. She was a housewife who depended on Nikra's income, which was too little. "Life was tough for us. My husband's unpredictable income was not enough and when he asked me to accept, I had no choice," she says. The family can now afford three meals a day and the children's school fees. Young men in tourist-dependent coastal towns say they can no longer make ends meet [Mohamed Aligab/Ali Jazeera] In Kenya's coastal towns, such stories are not new, especially in poor neighbourhoods such as Maweni. Husbands agree to rent their wives to rich tourists, mostly from Europe, without them knowing the women are their spouses. "Why would I make another woman rich while I have a wife at home?" Nikra said. "This was an opportunity for us to make some cash to pay our bills." Tourism reliance The East African country received more than one million tourists in 2016, according to the Kenya Tourism Board, a government corporation. This number translated into $100m earned in taxes, making Kenya one of the top tourism destinations in Africa. In 2017, TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel website, ranked Kenya's Diani Beach in Kwale, where Nikra and Wambui live, the seventh-best beach in Africa. But all these accolades do not translate into success in the villages where locals survive solely on tourism. Nikra Juma, 43, has been a beach operator for more than 20 years. It's a sunny Saturday afternoon and Juma is at Diani reflecting on existence with his colleagues. "Life is becoming difficult by the day," he said, wearing his black sunglasses to fend off the glaring sunlight. On a good day, he earns about $40 by helping out tourists navigate the blue waters of Indian Ocean. But nowadays, he complains the situation has become desperate. "We have been neglected. We depend on tourism as a source of living. Since most of us do not have a constant income, my colleagues go to the extreme and give away their wives to have a good living," said Juma, who also chairs the Diani Beach Boys Association. More than one million tourists visited the East African country in 2016 [Goran Tomasevic/Reuters] Kwale County's chief tourism officer Anthony Mwamunga says the local government is training beach vendors and guides to gain skills to help them earn a decent living. He adds there's not much that can be done about prostitution. ©Al Jazeera

MORGUE WORKER ARRESTED AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO A DEAD MAN'S BABY Kansas City, Missouri| A 26-year old morgue worker was arrested this morning after a DNA test revealed that her newborn child was the result of a necrophiliac intercourse with a man she was supposed to autopsy. Jennifer Burrows, an assistant pathologist with the Jackson County medical examiner services, is accused of having sex with dozens of corpses over the course of the last two years, a behavior which led the birth of a baby boy on January 7. According to the Kansas City Missouri Police Department, her baby is the son of man who died in a car accident in March 2015, and whose body she was supposed to autopsy. They allege that she Ms. Burrows sexually abused more than 60 other dead bodies, belonging to males from 17 to 71 years old. “We opened an investigation about this case in October after we were informed that the suspect may have been sexually abusing corpses,” Police Chief Forté told reporters. “We accumulated enough evidence over the last few months to obtain a warrant for a paternity test on her newborn son. It confirmed our suspicions, that the father of her child was, indeed, a 57-year old veterinarian from Texas who was driving through the county when he had a fatal car accident. All the evidence that we have gathered suggests that he had never met Ms. Burrows before his demise and that he was already dead when the baby was conceived.” kansascitypolice The KCMO Police Chief, Darryl Forté, briefly commented Ms. Burrows’ arrest this morning during a press conference, calling it “one of the most sordid case he has seen in his career”. There are currently no laws (state or federal) governing or explicitly outlawing the practice of necrophilia, since the corpse is considered human remains and no longer living. Therefore, it is technically legal in the state of Missouri, and Ms Burrows’ actions are judged as an indecent treatment of a corpse. She is facing a total of 158 charges, including indecent treatment of a corpse, disorderly conduct, indecent exposure and possession of illegal drugs. The psychologists and experts that we interviewed were divided in their interpretation of Ms Burrows’ case. Some, Like Professor Isabella Ramirez of the University of Missouri, believe that the young woman was suffering from a psychosis and had, at least partially, lost contact with reality. Others, like Dr Gerald Porter, a well-known psychologist and expert in sexual disorders associated with the Institute of Psychological Sciences, believe that the accused is clearly a compulsive necrophiliac, and that her choice of profession was inspired by her sexual deviation in the first place. All seem to agree, however, that the 26-year old woman was suffering from mental problems and that she will probably register a plea of insanity.

Without an iota of doubt, I am still alien to the god of the Boko Haramites ( and their related terror groups). The Lord God that I know, believe in and worship, Allah, is the one and only God of Islam. Like every other thousands of religion in the world having descenting hypocrites, deceptive pirates using certain links to copy certain ways of such religion, the B.Haramites have chosen to use some aspect of Islam as Islamic names, use of language, and aspects of Quran to claim affiliates, but that necessarily not make them Muslims as Islam is one of the most Guided, cautious & restraining religion in the world with norms & doctrines. One among the numerous doctrines of Islam is THERE MUST NOT BE COMPULSION IN RELIGION....YOU MUST NOT BE FORCED TO JOIN, OR LEAVE OR STAY IN ISLAM. Any of such actions must be act of self conviction, thorough research and with due diligence all without an iota of force. This is so important that Allah (SWT) in his Holy Quran dedicate a whole Chapter to the fact that THERE SHOULD NOT BE COMPULSION IN RELIGION. ( Q: 109). So how then do someone commit such heinous crime and still claim being Muslim or doing it for Islam? .... Boko Haram & their likes are far from Islam. They like other miscreants are jobless youths with little knowledge & understanding of what they are doing being penned by some evil self centered elite( probably from within / outside our territory. My Islam believes both the Quran & the Bible, in Muhammad (SAW), in Jesus (ASW) and all God sent. I Therefore wish our dear heroic Leah Sheribu. the only left dapchi captive a save and sound return .... With love from MILLIONS OF MUSLIMS AROUND THE WORLD.

The leaders spoilt it all... The only hope and solution are the few educated & wise youths, but bad enough those ones too are proving to be worse off. There gifted brians are rather on fostering discord, hate, lies .... And masses takes shits without discernible minds. Can someone prove to me how this looks like d truck said to have brought d kids? Where is at least one of the girls in d said pic? Internationally at war time there is ceasefire... Fine we can question how d terrorist kidnap d girls cheaply , I love that but as for returning them it would have agreed that d militant shouldn't be attached in their to & fro of returning d girls. & I think d govt too was stupid to have accept d kidnappers returning d girls themselves . I bliv they should rather have gone to the Bush to collect them by themselves ... That would have save atlest half of all this public masturbations. Well what do I know ...let me get something for my child. |
The Zimbabwean government on Monday published a list of state funds stashed in foreign accounts. The government called such funds “Externalized Foreign Currency and Assets.” According to a release signed by the president Emmerson Mnangagwa, there was an estimated amount of $827 million yet to be recovered. It said companies and individuals had returned $591 million in such funds after a 90-day amnesty to bring back the money was issued by the president late last year. The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe is ready to process transactions where the concerned parties can show proof of declaration and/or repatriation of funds without prejudice given that the burden of proof lies with the concerned parties, the statement read. The three broad categories of defaulters were: Funds externalised through non repatriation of export proceeds Funds externalised through payment of goods not received in Zimbabwe Funds externalised to foreign banks in cash or under spurious transactions. In total, the government had expected over 1.4 trillion dollars to be surrendered. Category one per the record had over $526 million to be retrieved but a little over $289 million was received. Category two with $177 million produced $52 million whiles Category three which had $714,204,171 produced $250 dollars. The state-run Herald newspaper in December 2017 posted a video in which the president is heard saying, “Under the new administration, we have given three months for those who had taken money out of this country to bring it back. I did not say that without knowledge, I have a list of who took money out. “So in March (2018) when the period expires, those who would have not heeded my moratorium, I’ll name them,” he added. He also called for party and national unity and the unconditional removal of political and economic sanctions imposed by the west on his government. Mnangagwa, 75, became leader of the southern African nation last month after the military and ruling ZANU-PF turned against Robert Mugabe. “Going forward we call for the unconditional lifting of the political and economic sanctions which have crippled our national development. “We realise that isolation is not splendid or viable, as there is more to gain through solidarity and mutually beneficial partnerships which will help us realize our unique national interests. Government will thus pursue a robust re-engagement process to fully affirm our belonging to the family of nations,” he added. While the European Union removed sanctions on ZANU-PF officials, members of the military and some government-owned firms in 2014, the United States has kept a travel and economic embargo on several ruling party elites. See attachment for the list. Africanews |
Zimbabwe President Releases Names of 'Looters' The government has released a list of companies and individuals who allegedly externalised foreign currency and have not heeded President Emmerson Mnangagwa's call to return the funds. Days after assuming office last November, Mnangagwa issued a three-month ultimatum for those who externalised funds and assets to return them with no questions asked. He added that he would publish the names of those people who ignore his call and then the law would take its course. http://allafrica.com/view/group/main/main/id/00059635.html |

Am sharing this for us to see this Fulani herdsmen crisis from another perspective. That it is not peculiar to Nigeria only. They also have a reason ( though not enough to take law into their hands ) and, the herdsmen generally are mostly illiterate and fond of resulting to jungle justice. That the we should all desist from politicising the issue, ignore our ethno- religious sentiments and honestly call on the government to take a holistic steps into protecting lives and properties of the citizens . HAPPENNING IN GHANA NOW. The Fulanis shot some members of a military patrol team in the Agogo area of Ashanti Ghana Nomadic Fulanis in the Asante Akyim Agogo have been justifying their decision to shoot some members of a military patrol team in the area. According to the nomads, instead of enforcing laws in the area, the military are rather collaborating with local residents to secretly kill their cattle and sell to local ‘chop bar’ operators. Speaking in an exclusive interview with the dailyheritage.com.gh, a Fulani man who identified himself as Fullo said, the media has not been fair in its reportage on the Fulani menace across the country. Fullo laments the media has succeeded in creating a very bad image for the nomads for which reason no one is ready to listen to their side of the story. He was speaking to the dailyheritage.com.gh in response to reports that the Fulani men have shot and wounded five soldiers at Agogo in the Asante Akyem North District of the Ashanti Region. The incident happened around 2:30 pm Monday when the soldiers stormed the grazing area where the Fulani Herdsmen feed their cattle. The soldiers were shot during an exchange of gun fire with the Fulani Herdsmen and two of the Fulani men have since been arrested. But Fullo argues, ‘if you want to be a criminal with license to kill and go free, then you have to join Ghana police or the army.’ ‘There were widespread news reports all over the media landscape that we have attacked and opened gun fire at a joint patrol of police and the military team leaving five of them critically injured, but nobody came to speak to us and I thank you for calling us now.’ ‘Look, those security officers always collaborate with the boys here locals and go into the bush pretending to patrol and then when they see cow,s they will start shooting and killing them,’ he revealed. ‘Check your WhatsApp, I will send you all the pictures and you can see clearly in the photos if I am lying to you,’ Fullo said angrily. ‘When they kill our animals, they will convey the meat into the Agogo Township by KIA cars and sell it to the local chop bars owners…tell me if the security people are not thieves and what do you do when the thief comes to steal,’ he added. According to Fullo, the practice by the security operatives has been going on since December last year and anytime the case is reported to the police for action to be taken, nothing happens. ‘So yesterday after the soldiers went for their routine hunting for cows, we also laid ambush and opened fire on them in their own equal measures, then the media and the security officers stationed there diverted the issue and gave it a different headline.’ Source: dailyheritage.com
