A 13-year-old runaway boy who took his father's car and drove nearly 1,000km (620 miles) across Europe is being re-united with his family. The boy fled after a reported row with his parents in Italy. Having driven from Italy into Austria, he proceeded to Germany where he was stopped by police after his family had alerted Interpol. The boy, who had been adopted two years ago, was reportedly heading to his original home country, Poland. The teenager lives in the northern Italian town of Montebelluna. After an argument with his adoptive mother - allegedly over a mobile phone payment - the boy, a keen go- cart racer, left on Thursday afternoon. And he seems to have been completely confident at the wheel of his father's high-powered Mercedes car. The boy was said to be comfortable behind the wheel His parents say he was probably heading for Poland - he was said to be missing his sister who lives there and to have been in touch with her via the internet, according to Italian media. The car was eventually tracked and stopped near Moisburg, in northern Germany. Police said it was "incredible" that the boy-driver had managed to cross two international borders and filled up with petrol twice without anyone en route raising the alarm. The teenager's parents are understood to have gone to Germany to bring him home. Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has been flown out to Germany on another emergency. This development comes less than 24 hours after SaharaReporters revealed that she was billed to depart for Spain to attend to her health. Medical sources in Abuja said Mrs. Jonathan had to be flown out earlier than expected due to new health concerns that developed overnight. The urgent nature of her departure for Germany led to cancellation of her appearance at a presidential event scheduled for 6:00 PM where the president hosted foreign ambassadors to Nigeria. There is no official word from the presidency regarding her trip. Her principal media aide Ayo Osinlu told SaharaReporters by phone that he couldn’t tell of her movements because he was not in Abuja at the moment. In August 2012, Mrs. Jonathan was airlifted to Wiesbaden, Germany, where she spent several weeks in a hospital for an undisclosed ailment. The presidency did not confirm her condition or whereabouts throughout the period. She returned to Nigeria on October 14 and denied having been hospitalized in Germany or having any terminal condition. “I don’t even know that hospital they are talking about,” she said. “I do not have any terminal illness or cosmetic surgery.” www.saharareporters.com/news-page/nigeria-first-lady-again-hurriedly-flown-out-germany |

“There was never a time like that (5,000MW generation capacity), never. The highest peak generation of 4,517.6 MW was achieved on December 23, 2012,” Mr. Ifabiyi said. “Now, we are generating more than 5,000MW,” another false statement by President Jonathan? |
President Jonathan lies again, TCN faults power generation claims Bassey Udo - 22 hours ago INVESTIGATION/SPECIAL REPORTS, NEWS “Now, we are generating more than 5,000MW,” another false statement by President Jonathan? The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has said that at no time has the country’s electricity generation capacity reached a peak of 5,000 megawatts, MW. This contradicts President Goodluck Jonathan’s claim during his third Presidential media chat last November that the combined average power generation capacity from all the power plants in the country moved from less than 3,000 MW in 2007 to a new peak capacity above 5,000 MW. The President had listed the 5,000MW power generation capacity as one of his administration’s major achievements under the Power Sector Reform agenda. “Power is one area Nigerians appreciate we are moving. We are yet to get 24 hours of light in our cities, but you would agree with me the difference is clear,” the president told the panel of interviewers, which consisted of Muhammed Abubakar of Nigerian Television Authority, NTA; Martins Oloja of the Guardian; Ikedi Isighuzor of Vanguard and Gbemi Olujobi of the National Mirror. “We moved, in 2007, from about a little below 3,000 MW production average. “Now, we are generating more than 5,000MW (of electricity). “But because of weak transmission infrastructure, we cannot evacuate,” the president said. As at the time President made the claim, TCN, the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, successor company in charge of monitoring electricity transmission data in the country, had given 4,321.3MW as the country’s power generation capacity as at August, 31, 2012. President’s Spokesman, Reuben Abati, and the Special Adviser to the Minister of Power, Garubadeen Mohammed, did not respond to calls and mails sent to them seeking clarification on the source of the President’s controversial figure. But, the Assistant General Manager, Public Affairs of TCN, Dave Ifabiyi, said on Wednesday during a telephone chat from Abuja that at no time had the country’s power generation capacity neared 5,000 MW. “There was never a time like that (5,000MW generation capacity), never. The highest peak generation of 4,517.6 MW was achieved on December 23, 2012,” Mr. Ifabiyi said. Click the orange button bellow to listen to Mr Ifabiyi. The TCN spokesman, said in a previous statement, that a new peak power generation capacity of 4,502.2 MW was achieved on December 21, 2012, an improvement on the 4,454.1 MW achieved on December 19. He attributed the achievement to the commitment of the President to fulfill his promise to Nigerians on improved electricity supply. Mr. Ifabiyi dispelled any insinuation that the TCN was probably not evacuating all the generated electricity when he said that transmission and distribution companies would continue to harness “every available generation to ensure delivery of stable electricity supply” even as more National Integrated Power Projects, NIPPs became functional. This is not the first time President Jonathan would be making a public statement that turned out to be false. In his Independence Day broadcast to Nigerians on October 1, the president had claimed that “In its latest report, Transparency International (TI) noted that Nigeria is the second most improved country in the effort to curb corruption.” The claim turned out to be false. Following a PREMIUM TIMES enquiry, Transparency International stated that it “does not have a recent rating or report that places Nigeria as the second most improved country in the fight against corruption. The latest Transparency International Corruption Index report later released placed Nigeria as the 35th most corrupt country in the world. The president is yet to apologise to Nigerians for that goof, just as he may not apologise for this. TCN to improve operations The TCN Chief Executive Officer, Olusola Akinniranye, said the company would not relent in its efforts to ensure that the transmission grid functions effectively for greater efficiency. Mr. Akinniranye said part of that effort is to restore the Benin-Egbin 330kV line as well as complete the new transmission/distribution interface projects to further enhance the company’s power evacuation capacity. He appealed to electricity consumers to continue to partner with TCN in protecting electricity installations and forestall vandalism, which he said was constituting a major setback to efforts to improve electricity supplies. www.remiumtimesng.com/news/113699-jonathan-lies-again-tcn-faults-presidents-power-generation-claims.html |
It’ s an incredible list holding equally incredibly powerful music celebrities who have steadfastly remained at the peak of their careers, ending the year 2012 with a deafening roar! *Flavour According to Google’s annual Zeitgeist list, the top ten most searched music celebrities for the year ending 2012 are: 10. Asa 9. Flavour 8, Tuface 7. Tiwa Savage 6. Ice Prince 5. Timaya 4. P Square 3. D’banj 2. MI and 1. Davido. Three out of the list (Asa, P Square and D’banj) had kept their acts well alive on local and international stages, while the others had concentrated more on holding their fans hostage back here in the country. Tiwa Savage had re-branded herself and her music; moving from Flytime to being a Mavin and then Timaya who had jumped in just in time with his controversial music video “Bum bum” Interestingly or rather surprisingly, wonder star Wiz Kid didn’t make the list, neither did Marvin Crew boss Don Jazzy. Both of whom had endless issues tied to them the entire year especially Don Jazzy who severed business and perhaps friendship ties with D’banj before going on to float his own music label Mavin Crew. Did your favourite artiste make the list? hit us with your comments… www.vanguardngr.com/2012/12/see-nigerias-most-searched-music-celebrities-of-2012-as-released-by-google/ |

I saw this on Nigeria Info 99.3 fm Facebook page. We are taking an analytical look at the 2013 budget today. The amount N4.9tn was earlier passed by Nigeria's National Assembly as budget for 2013. We have a procurement expect in the studio, who has reavealed that according to the the World Bank, out of every N1 allocated in the budget of Nigeria, 60Kobo goes missing. That's 60% of the national budget wasted. WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO? |

We're talking of people who're going to school and not those that passed. Btw, do you have a proof that people from these states fail more when compared to their pairs from other states. Why do you always move the goal post when it does not favour your belief system.you failed to see this from the link abi? At the news conference, Ojerinde, the JAMB Registrar, listed Abia, Benue, Cross River, Delta, Imo, Lagos, Nasarawa and Rivers as the affected states, due to malpractice such as extortion of money by some examination officials. “In 2012 UTME, we had some disturbing news of extortion of money from innocent candidates by greedy proprietors and supervisors all these persons will be brought to book,” he said, adding that the outcome of investigation would determine if more results would be released.. |

shymexx: Ibadan looks so dirty and medieval, to be honest...thats a construction site. |
Realtol: the ppl from other parts of Oyo state also voted for him. For that reason alone they deserved good things in their domains too that is what I am saying. In fact that would facilitate quick and even development if d projects are distributed across various parts of the state like Oyo. Ogbomosho, Iseyin, Ipapo, Saki etc. because these cities are not enjoying d dividend of democrary for which they assiduously and doggedsly worked for right now which I think they deserve to enjoy. Ajimobi should look into those cities and develop them too and stop being a bigotry who only cares for his own native town. Mind you some of these cities votes for Ajimobi are more than that of Ibadan in d last general election. Thank you!Guy read this: OYO TO DUALIZE 5 ROADS WITH N29.3B The Oyo State Government has awarded the contract for the dualization of five major roads that cut across the state, at the total cost of N29.3 billion. The construction of the roads was announced at a joint news conference at the end of the weekly executive council meeting in Ibadan on Monday. The news conference was jointly addressed by the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Bosun Oladele, his Works and Transport counterpart, Alhaji Yunus Akintunde, as well as Special Advisers on Media and Information and Orientation, Dr. Festus Adedayo and Gbolagade Busari respectively. According to the state government, the roads include the four- kilometre Ibadan-Oyo Expressway/Iseyin-Oyo Junction to Owode, as well as the expansion of the 2.5 kilometre Owode-Akesan- Palace Road and the sectional repair of a 3.8-kilometre portion of the old Ibadan-Oyo Road at the cost of N7,785,840,123.47. Another project, the government said, included the dualization of the 6.32-kilometre Ilorin Expressway Junction-Ikoyi-Takie-Palace- Ogbomoso Grammar School in Ogbomoso at the cost of N5,695,147,363.60. The contract for the dualization of the 6.2-kilometre Ibadan-Oyo- Iseyin Junction-Iseyin/Okeho Junction Road in Iseyin was also awarded by the state government at the cost of N6,092,448,322.40 to take care of the major entry to Oke- Ogun zone of the state. The dualization of the 7.4-kilometre Dugbe-Magazine-Eleiyele Road with spurs to Aleshinloye-Onireke/ Agbarigo Road in Ibadan was also awarded by the state government at the cost of N7,066,762,166.86. The state government also said that its executive council had approved the construction of the dilapidated Ijokodo-Apete Road, with its associated two bridges, including the Apete bridge whose contract was revoked earlier, at the cost of N2,649,420,593. The state Information Commissioner said that the projects, all of which would be completed within the next 18 months, were in fulfillment of the Ajimobi administration’s promise that entrances to major towns and cities would be dualized to enhance access. The Commissioner for Works also explained that the contract sums for all the affected roads were inclusive of cost of compensation to those whose properties would be affected, relocation of facilities such as water pipes, electricity poles and telecommunication facilities, as well as cost of consultancy. |
SaharaReporters has learnt that French law enforcement officers detained a private jet conveying a Nigerian businessman, Jide Omokore, in Paris. Mr. Omokore is one of President Goodluck Jonathan’s closest business associates. The Abuja-bound plane had arrived in Paris from Monaco. A French police source who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity disclosed that the plane was detained for two days. The source did not disclose the make and model of the jet nor the exact date the aircraft was detained, but disclosed that the private jet was detained as part of an investigation into its ownership. Even though the source refused to reveal more, stating that further disclosure could compromise their investigation, a source in Abuja told SaharaReporters that French authorities seemed interested in finding out if the jet belonged to a Nigerian official. The Abuja source stated that Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke may be the focus of the French investigation. SaharaReporters was told that the detained jet was flying Mr. Omokore and two women when it was impounded for two days. The jet was later released and was then flown back to Nigeria with Mr. Omokore on board. The name of the Kogi-born Jide Omokore has featured prominently in the recent fuel subsidy scandal that rocked the Nigerian economy. In Abuja circles, he is well known as a front man for President Jonathan and Petroleum Minister Alison-Madueke. An Arlington woman says that a new iPad she thought she had bought at a great price turned out to be a fake. Jalonta Freeman said she bought the item from a stranger who approached her at a gas station near Highway 360 and Green Oaks. "He pulled up beside us, and he was like, 'Hey, I've got some iPads and stuff, and I've got some laptops if you all are interested in buying,'" she said Wednesday. He offered to sell a brand-new iPad worth $800 for just $200, Freeman said. With Christmas coming up, she and her family thought it sounded too good to pass up. They gave him the cash, and he quickly drove off, she said. New iPads begin at $399 for Wi-Fi- only models. The iPad 2 that connects to cellular networks retails for $529. The recently announced iPads with retina display start at $499 for the Wi- Fi models. The cellular models range in price from $629 to $829 and will be available to ship in mid-November. When Freeman's sister opened the package, it turned out to be a mirror about the size as the tablet. "If you turn it on the back, it actually looks like an Apple iPad," Freeman said. "And when you turn it to the front, it has the prices and stuff." It even had an Apple logo stuck on it. "That's so messed up," Freeman said. "That's so wrong. I would never do anybody like that. Get a job." Freeman said she became angry when she realized she had been conned. "I just started cussing," she said. "I was upset. Anybody would be upset if you found out you just got scammed, you know what I'm saying? You just lost $200." Freeman reported the crime to Arlington police, but she never got a license plate number and she admits that investigators have little to go on. She said she now feels stupid but has learned an important lesson. "Don't buy nothing on the streets from nobody," she said. Arlington police spokeswoman Tiara Richard said she had not heard of any similar incidents but added these kinds of crimes always increase in the weeks before Christmas. Last year, Grand Prairie police warned North Texas about groups of people who were selling fake iPads and MacBooks out of their cars for several hundred dollars. Police then said that investigators knew of more than a dozen incidents. Police in other states, including Georgia, Florida and Mississippi, reported similar incidents last year. m.nbcdfw.com/nbcdfw/pm_108133/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=MvPGoV7A |
