Only 7% of the population is mixed-race and 3% is European, Chinese or East Indian. Compare that with T&T in which Afro-Trinis are only 35% of the population and you will see the bigger picture.

bayooooooo: What exactly is our past glory and how is that useful in today's world? Please since you are aware of what Africans accomplished in the past, please outline them for world to see? Let me tell you the simple truth: despite the fact that Chinese have maintained Nuclear arsenals for years, there was no respect until the economic conditions of Chinese people started changing for the better. The world is interested in stories that despite all challenges (because challenges are natural), this is what we have achieved. The story of self hating should be reserved for GEJ and his looting cronies. Because until we shun corruption, we can not develop and until we develop, the world will continue to view us as funny one.
This paragraph is against the logic you seem to be advancing. If the white are against the black as your post seems to suggest, why on earth did groom a black for president? What would have happened if he lost the election? As long as Obama ticks Africa America in every form, you argument does not hold water. Who should Obama make donations to: the corporations that contributed towards his opponents campaign fund? Why did Gbagbo lose and refused to hand over power? did they send troops to Ghana with no such issue? Don't you see there is a nexus between what happened in Ivory Coast and the seemingly orderly transition in Senegal?
Obama is not a president for US blacks, he is an American President. He did not get elected because he was loved by blacks, he was elected because US wanted him to be there at a point in time. His policies have been to improve the lot of Americans. To make the point more clearer: was GEJ elected because Ijaws loved and still love him or rather because Nigerians at a point in time felt he should be there? can Ijaws produce a president without help? I don't want to comment on Libya because it's a complicated issue. but the whole stuff was avoidable if Gaddafi had called for elections and put his cronies in power? Even if he stepped down without elections, the acrimony would have been avoided? The global power game is simple: those who have the power are demonstrating it for world to see and those that do not are trying all within their power to get it. It's the responsibility of each country not to turn his space to battle field. Syria comes to mind at this point in time.
This is where you get it wrong. GEJ's have just handed them-Indians you hate a political weapon to unite against your brothers. A more intelligent leader would have advocated publicly for an all inclusive society and channeled whatever help privately to his brothers. That's what Europeans and Americans that you deride so much do and it has been effective all the years. GEJ's approach is an empty rant that does not even change anything except brings so much hatred towards the black community in TT. Would the statement now make the Indians marry blacks? With the demographics in TT, would the statement make the politics of domination easier for blacks? GEJ made a very silly statement in TT.
You are wrong my brother. GEJ is there because Nigerians want him to be there. Simple. Gaddafi was killed because Libyans were fed up with him. Mubarak was removed because Egyptians were fed up. If Nigerians say NO to GEJ today, he's goner. American can only try to make friend with new guy in power. There is limit to all these conspiracy theories you spin on internet. Are you aware of US' Warships, Submarines etc right very close to China? Does China have same close to US? If China can not stand up to US, how can it protect Africans? In world politics, what matters is your interest. Nothing else. correct |

Gbawe: GEJ is now prime candidate for "black voice" because of an insensitive statement that, without doubt, would be offensive to many and coming from a man whose leadership only illustrates deceit, divisiveness and a penchant for polarising? You are simply incredible.
As has been mentioned already, T and T is fairly diverse racially. They don't need an unintelligent opportunist , empty on substance but long on rhetoric, throwing mantras about that is obsolete in 2012 and seeking to polarise alone racial lines.
Let the leaders of so-called black Nations lead responsibly, selflessly and dilligently. If that is done, there will be no need for a distracting recourse to feudalism and "black Nations" would naturally take their respected place in the commity of Nations.
Anyone who watched the Olympics opening ceremony will confirm that Zimbabwe's contingent was entirely almost white !!! How retrogressive, intolerant, unexposed and archaic would Mugabe sound if he then goes around talking of "black domination" in ways that disenfranchise some even in his own Nation?
Would it be acceptable for Cameron, Merkel or Hollande to talk about "white domination"? Fools like you are not intelligent enough to see that discernible changes means that our challenges our now different and our leaders must show the intelligence to respond appropriately instead of espousing empty sound bites that belong in the sixties.
Many Nigerians in the diaspora , living in the USA for example, would be up in arms if a white politicians spoke in ways that infers he welcomes white dominance instead of American dominance because this means that this politicians only sees white folks when he thinks of America. See and say what is obvious for once in your sycophancy-addled life. Cut the spin and admit GEJ goofed. Gbam |

cap28: There was nothing wrong with GEJ's statement.
In order to truly understand GEJ's statement one must first of all understand the history of trinidad, Trinidad's two major racial groups are the descendants of african slaves and the descendants of east indian indentured workers.
Both groups were brought to the island by the europeans - the africans were brought there as slaves and when slavery was abolished and africans refused to carry on working for nothing the europeans replaced them with indentured east indians.
This backdrop has resulted in a society made up of two imported groups who hate each other but co exist in a hostile environment.
The indians are economically dominant and occupy the plum positions in government and business while the blacks despite being slightly higher in population occupy the lower rungs on the socio economic ladder.
Goodluck's intention was to support and boost the morale of his fellow africans and i see nothing wrong with that.
I am not a fan of GEJ, however in this instance he did the right thing.
We are quick to jump to the defence of people who hate us, if you check the race of many of the trinidadian critics you will find that they are indians, these are the same indians who do not want to live among african trinis and would disown or even kill their daughters if they found them with black men.
Try researching the history of Trinidad and you will find that it is a society built on two SEPARATE CULTURES THAT NEVER INTERACT OR INTEGRATE.
Having said that Indians have no problem integrating or inter marrying with europeans or chinese but not with black africans. do u knw dat gej's comment can create another religious/ethnic extrimist group? U knw he didnt speak like a political or a national leader, he spoke in support of black and christians alone. What about those indians practising hinduism or islam? Should they leave their ancestral home and go to somewhere else cos they arent black? Common, lets admmit it , gej comment was absolutely racist, check the T and T website and see how they insulting nigerians. |

So it beggars belief with the racial background and present multicultural/cosmopolitan state of our country the powers that be would allow this man to chat such crap. There is also a clear racial divide in TnT and his statements could possibly stoke more tensions. He is also an slowpoke as well, so as to not research before he entered TnT.
