The atmosphere is different from where you come from and Nigeria. You travelled to a country that's economically equal to yours and I'm guessing it was solely for touristic purposes. And if it doesn't work out, you just shrug your shoulders and choose another destination when next you plan to vacation. In Nigeria however, the purpose of traveling is mostly in search of greener pastures for bettering your life. Failing to do so as is the case when deported can be a huge source of shame especially when people close to you and were aware of your initial sojourn get to know of it. When my Uncle traveled to the US and we couldn't hear from him for a while, there were lots of silent mockery from the extended side of the family that made its way to our ears. If he had failed and was eventually deported, he would have been a laughing stock.

The few days I spent in the South West last week have made me extremely wary and reluctant to get in a car that will be driven by a man from that region ever again in my life. They throw caution to the wind while behind the wheel. It doesn't matter if the driver is aged with lots of experience and grey-haired or young with optimism and hope of what life has to offer, the end thereof is the same—a straight rip-off of Vin Diesel racing Paul Walker in Fast and Furious 7.

No lies told. And there lies the reason for my disdain of the North. As far as I'm concerned, it's a lost cause entirely and I wish we weren't saddled with them. There would still be difficulty, but at least we would not have to carry along a group of people so hopelessly backward with no desire for even a little bit of positive change.

I watched a vdeo on Twitter few months back that showed someone dipping his hand in a bag of rice, scooping some and throwing it on the floor like it was meant for animals, and Nigerians —mostly from the North, I recall— ran hastily to pick up the raw rice from the sandy floor to eat. Kids and adults alike. From their actions, you could easily tell that they were so hungry and had barely eaten for days. It was such a dehumanizing video that strong-hearted me with disdain for the North almost teared up. Yet, nothing will be done to fix this issue.

My bus passed there yesterday. I saw it live and felt the intense heat as the vehicle drove past. Three was also another one which happened very near there as well that I also witnessed. The vehicles involved were equally engulfed in flames as the ones in this post.
