Gentlemen, Paul Biya and Idrys deby have been spoiling for a fight with nigeria for some time now.

This aggressive francophone posture, while officially doing business with nigeria comes from the top. Not junior overly ambitious officers.

PMB, general buratai and the Nigerian congress should please wake up to this threat

We cannot control what the francophonies and the French do but we can control our own actions.

QUIT the ostrich mentality, and re equip our armed forces for potential war

They are driving up their Chinese made apcs to scare our border guards because they know that ours are in disrepair, sputtering in the north east or in boko harams junk yard.

Corruption and a poor national security orientation has conspired to bring us to this lowly state we find ourselves

Only a very effective, all encompassing military build up/ spending would reverse our current humiliating state.

We and stupid conspiracy theories sef Fulani dis and Fulani dat, yet the police are being sent on a counterinsurgency mission with no armored fighting vehicles.

These are Mopols or police comandoes , they are supposed to be kitted with attack helicopters and armored fighting vehicles Not thin skinned hiluxes Ak-47s, and their dick in their hands.

The Nigerian president, the senate and our entire security sector should go to Egypt or algeria to see how serious nations with serous def sector issues equip themselves

Nollywood make una no pass up this naturally gorgeous Nigerian lady. She is based in the US and can easily take some acting lessons here.
Then in the hands of a premier nollywood studio, that invests in script writers and quality directors, I will guarantee you she will be a global star in 2 years.
And that means big bucks.
Nollywood needs proper organization and talent. This Uchenna MBA girl is "TALENT".

Great write up @supremecourt.
I was one of the lone voices crying in the wilderness, when this theft was taking place. All one had to do then, was note our military budget, then look out for our purposely opaque defense expenditure.
I railed daily about this theft been the same as treason. For the exact reasons you listed in your article.
I don't know why PMB chose to spare the lives of the culpable military brass Amosu, Badeh and the rest. By retiring them then letting Efcc handle the case. He should have let the military court martial and then shoot them all for treason.

If anyone can retrieve our archives from the beegeagle's blog circa 2011-2015, it's a treasure trove.
PoliticsRe: Autonomy Of Local Governments In Nigeria: A Notion In Need Of Reiteration by doziex: 6:06am On Jul 31, 2017
This is a very timely article.
from my observation living in the US, we should take advantage of the time honored lessons America has learned operating our style of government for close to 300 years.

There is no need wallowing in missteps, trying to reinvent the wheel.
Case in point, LGAs should be governed by an elected recognizable mayor, rather than an impersonal local government council.
The mayor would be responsible in raising IGR from his/her towns tax receipts.
The personality cult of the mayor could rival, or even exceed that of a sitting governor.
Adversarial or cordial, this relationship of equals would checkmate the excesses of state governors , and would bring governance down to the local level.

Yeah, and we gladly pay for it.

So the minister is right. If there is any forex to be earned from any product we are so dominant in the production, nigeria should be rightfully earning it.

If yam scarce for naija, then we keep up with the demand, or chop cassava instead.

Yeah, these born to rule folks would remain this aggressive and destructive if the other 5 regions in the country chooses not to stand as one.

Firstly, South east and south west must quit this our useless mutual suspicion.

I beg we are both accomplished and progressive people but our frivolous competition has blinded us to what the big picture is.

Also none of the south south states need fear being usurped by the SW or SE. (We are interested in mutual progress, not your oil )

The middle belt has a serious choice to make. The core north includes u in the power structure as a way of using your numbers against the rest of us.

When the others 5 regions unite and stand on progressive principles, then may be the moderates in the core north will finally stand up and take a stand against their feudal overlords.

The core north can't bully Nigerians into submission, unless we let them.
CrimeRe: Herdsmen Battle Police On Falae’s Farm by doziex: 10:43am On Jun 20, 2017
Nigerians, the solution is simple. Militia for Militia, fire for fire. Haba !! state governments should stop whining for federal help, as the federal authorities are paralysed by the hausa/Fulani hijack of their leadership structure.

So do the following.

(1) gather able bodied men of fighting age in your states. (all volunteers)

(2)inquire about isreali or south African (ex SADF) Private Military Companies.

(3)Start to train a state funded Gendamarie skilled in crime fighting, anti terror and counter insurgency tactics.

(4) Call the federal governments' bluff, and raise state funds to equip this unit with counterinsurgency weaponry. used cheap Russian mi-17/24s, turbo propeller planes that can be upgraded to effective aerial counterinsurgency platforms that would come in handy.

There is no state in the federation that cannot afford at least one battalion of 800 men.

(5) And together with your PMC advisers and any of our willing federal police/ army units, HUNT DOWN THESE FULANI HERDSMEN WITH A VENGEANCE.

Kill them and impound their cattle if they come armed. Track them down and ambush then in your own lands.
When they start crying for federal troops to save them , we will know they are ready to talk sense.

Sorry, their is no room for such wanderers in the 21st century. So they either evolve into ranchers, or it's combat.

PoliticsRe: Photo Of Another Nigerian Soldier Killed By The Boko Haram by doziex: 3:22am On May 07, 2017
President Buhari is now breaking all the promises he made to Nigerians and our armed forces concerning this war. He said he would provide sufficient funds to win this war.
Yet, the funds or the weapons to fight this war effectively have slowed to a crawl.

Nigerians you MUST remember come election time, that the senate and the house have chosen to engage in political intrigue instead of coming up with the funding our troops need to protect our own nation more effectively.

In the 2017 budget, for a nation facing several existential insurgencies, 1.7 billion total for all security outfits is a joke.

Mind you that the entire budgets encompassing 2007 to 2015 was stolen by military officials and politicians under the nose and care of GEJ.

So all our army has is painted hilux trucks, and repainted/resuscitated armored vehicles from the 60s and 70s. What a shame.

Even our neighbors Chad and cameroon are not this bad.

They have at least invested in affordable ,up to date, Chinese APCs and other cheap desert armored cars that at least keep their soldiers from dying like flies or in Nigerian like numbers.

Boko haram's strategy is to strangle the traffic and trade in the region to cause a famine. They have already succeeded.

Our troops have to run convoys risking life and limb to keep the roads open, and all Nigeria can afford to equip this brave men and women with is the death trap known as the hilux truck.

RIP my brother.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Army Parades In Hausa Language - Video by doziex: 11:26pm On Feb 27, 2017
This might be the former CJTFs that has fought gallantly with the army, being put thru their paces.
Also the COAS mentioned that some IDPs were requesting to join the army.

The PROS is that they are likely already proven in combat, and have demonstrated the requisite discipline under fire.
This is unlike many fraudulently selected recruits (i.e employment seekers) and the like. Who have embarrassed the NA in this war, dumping their weapons and out racing civilians to the Cameroonian border.

The CON however, is that it plays into the designs of the ethnic bigots in the north.

The niger delta militants are also proven in combat (some are ) And have acquired discipline under fire, so after reform, and retraining, they should also be offered combatant positions in the NA.

Governor Obiano when are you going to provide modern fire fighting services to Nnewi and Onitsha ?

Anambra raises it's tax revenue, mainly from the self made businesses in these industrial/ trading towns. These revenues should be rightfully used to improve fire services in these towns.

Industrialization without modern firefighting tools is what is meant when we say that a little bit of scientific knowledge is a dangerous thing.

We must embrace scientific improvement holistically.

The Chicason gas plant explosion, the wood market fire, several gas stations and now this one in Onitsha.

Governor pls let's do the needful.

Alhaji Dokubo, Mend, Oga Tompolo, fight don land O.

I beg make una show this herdsmen, who be boss.

And the Nigerian army, police and civil defense should stay out of this fight. Since your oga's at the top seems to be biased in favor of these cattlemen terrorists.

Also, Oga general Buratai, una don disappoint O.

In response to this slaughter in the middle belt areas, you have chosen to go after imagined cattle rustlers with dane guns, rather than these roving mad men.

You are laying the building blocks for future army barracks, rather than sending our best counterinsurgency troops after them.

NA is again betraying it's sworn oath to protect Nigerians lives and property from enemies foreign and domestic.

The Fulani elite should be made to embrace the future and ranch their cattle or deal with the collective might of the nation expressed in our armed forces.

You can then seize their cattle and start your Army ranch project.

But if you choose to protect their feudalistic interests against that off the rest of the nation, all hell would break loose and NA as an instituition would probably not survive.

Naija nah wah for you O. We always cut of our own nose to spite our face.

Gov. Ambode is a hard working governor, but he failed this one.

Does anybody here think IVM will win any indian govt contract over TATA ? The answer is HELL NAH !!!

The governor should have partnered with IVM on this venture. If the contract is too big for IVM, they could have partnered in a win-win ppp format. That would establish IVM assembly plants in lagos, creating thousands of jobs.

Dealing with TATA only makes sense, if TATA is willing to manufacture/assemble the buses in lagos.

Like Dangote's deal with sinotruk. They will jointly build a plant in lagos, in order to manufacture 10,000 trucks for dangote cement distribution.

Also, dangote had previously patronized IVM for his distribution network in Ghana.

This is what happens in a country, where tribalism supercedes Patriotism.

FYI, IVM has manufactured and donated 4x4 jeeps to our military, while our military patronizes Toyota hilux trucks and ford trucks.

IVM, has found local solutions to NAF's Alphajet brake assemblys, whereas NAF purchases "Honker" trucks from Poland.

Just saying.

This Shilka and the truck it is mounted on seems to be from the booty captured by the Al barnawi group in Bosso, Niger republic.
Cameroon, Niger and Chad all field this "technical", But the Nigerian army only just started to field smaller caliber AA guns on their hilux trucks.

That's why almost anywhere this shilka shows up on the battle field, NA troops are outgunned.
I believe this BHT unit armed with a number of shilkas are responsible for routing of the NA unit at Kangarnawa on the border with niger.

Think about it, how does a dug in tank battalion get routed by advancing BHT. Some jumped into a river and swam across to Niger, 15 troops and their commanding officer were just found dead.

NA should also field these large caliber gun trucks and also acquire ATGMs to neutralize them from a safe distance.

Yeye Nigeria, there are no guided missiles on this so called warship. No ship to air nor ship to ship missiles. instead we installed some contraption that was meant to clean up oil spills.

Gambia has 4 missile boats they received for recognizing Taiwan at some point. A version of the isreali Dvora fast attack boats. If they were functional, they would sink that crap we call a warship from beyond the horizon.

Our leaders, always willing to flex muscles that we don't have. One day, some African country will really humiliate Nigeria on the world stage.

Actually, I guarantee you this would happen.

If you want to be a big boy, then spend like a big boy. Or just mind your business at home.

We keep oscillating between corrupt regimes like GEJ's that loot money, rather than adequately invest in the military, and those like the present one, who don't have the vision to improve our military even though security crises are multiplying daily.

Buhari wants to resuscitate our junk weapons from the 60's and 70's, While our neighbor Cameroon is wise enough to just take low interest loans from china, and load up on modern day equipment. (SMH).

Oga bidexiii, you guys are not opining much about this pending Gambian adventure abi na misadventure ?

I can see from our buddy beegeagle's twitter handle, that he is Gung ho aka hawkish about a military assault.

Methinks, that the only valid reason Nigeria has for getting mixed up in another west African adventure, is to re exert our political and military leadership in the sub region, and eventually, Africa as a whole.

But the buhari government has not made our military prowess a priority, even though internal and external military challenges are multiplying by the day.
And just in case folks have not been paying attention, they are as follows.

(1) The Fulani herdsmen and their mercenaries (the actual killers) versus All the six regional zones in Nigeria. This is actually the number 1 threat facing Nigeria, and it could escalate and spread like wild fire if all relevant authorities don't sober up.

(2) Nigeria versus BHTs. This is now a regional threat. Our military under general Buratai is finally on the ball. They have BHTs on the run but it ain't over. If given space to breath, they will reconstitute and hit back harder in no time.

Here, we need resources helicopters, APCs, MRAPS, turbo prop COIN planes etc.

(3) The NIGER DELTA.
(a) The rebels vs oil pipelines (i.e our economy )
(b) Ijaw versus other ND ethnic groups.
(c) rebel moves against economic interests in Akwa Ibom and Lagos states.
(d) The political party inspired cult problems in rivers state elections.

(4) In the south east, crime, kidnappers and the IPOB issue.

(5) Shite versus sunni ( The authorities )

(6) Banditry and cattle rustling in the north west.

And the list goes on.

I understand that PMB is dealing with a cash crunch caused by the plummeting of oil prices, and the last administration spent and looted us blind, instead of invest in infrastructure in a meaningful way.

BUT a state has to at least be militarily strong to survive the myriad of challenges facing us. No 2 ways about it.

I mean the entire security infrastructure, has to be well equipped and competent.

Oga PMB, ask the Chinese about an additional 10 billion USD to the 40 billion that we are already requesting of them. And apply the loan to solely Chinese weaponry.

It would be for them, the best security on all their investments. Betting on a security apparatus that depends on refurbishing and repainting 1970 era weapon systems is a fools errand.

As for gambia, all our armor seems to be in the north East. So, either we spend the money on arms to support a foreign policy that befits the giant of Africa, or we sit home, mind our business, and let other more ambitious nations lead.

Great. There is now a new US ambassador from the new Trump administration.

In my humble opinion, Obama's Africa policy was self contradictory, and tied it's self all in knots.

Give Nigeria demining equipment to demine the access routes to sambisa forest to free the chibok girls, but don't sell them tucano COIN planes to help achieve the same goal.

Letting amnesty international dictate their Nigerian policy, but not letting it guide their Saudi, Egyptian, Chadian, Cameroonian relationships.
One would think only Nigeria had human right issues to deal with.

Also, Obama snubbed or lectured African leaders, even though he criticized G.W. Bush for doing likewise to Iran and North Korea.

Dude was sensitive enough to bow to the Saudi king, but dissed a whole continent just because he was displeased with corrupt leadership.

I hope he is not hoping for many African speaking engagements, post his presidency.

GW bush will be forever known and appreciated for his 15 billion usd HIV drugs funding.

Obama on the other hand was to leave his legacy to Africa in power generation. But of course they won't fund Coal fired plants or other so called dirty sources. Even though these are still employed in US and Europe.

Just as in the case of Nigeria and amnesty International, he would let the greens hold his Africa energy policy hostage.

Other then that, he is a very smart guy.

Gentlemen, their is not one army on this earth that would not mutiny if they get exposed to the usual abuse NA gets all the time .
That is deprivation of the basic necessities of life after they have been budgeted for, just because some corrupt brass is looking for a quick buck.
This has been a decades old cancer in our army, and very catastrophic consequences would occur if the practice is not rooted out.

This happened to our ecomog troops, fighting and dying in foreign lands. It happened in Darfur when the UN threatened not to reimburse our nation because of the operational unfitness of our troops.
Even in the north east, in our existential war against BUTs, common air conditioned tents, MREs and water is allowed to become a mutiny level problem.

2 solutions, courtmartial any bloody officer or enlisted personel that is misappropriating ALREADY BUDGETED FUNDS meant for troop welfare. NO SACRED COWS.

Privatise these none combat, logistics functions. The US did it in iraq and Afghanistan. The profit motive will ensure our troops are well catered for. So they can focus on the war at hand.

That aircraft is an alpha jet, which belongs to NAF

American intelligence sources has credited their ISR donated assets, their drones , plus the fact that NAF now has 16 alpha jets and 22 mi-24/35 attack helicopters with turning the tide of this war.

So the 16 operational alpha jets come from air America, at least 4 with night vision and Russian style rocket pods.
The others are being maintained by innoson vehicle company .
NAF has never had this many alpha jets operational since the 80s.
The color coating doesn't say much. Notice the color scheme changes with other NA equipment

Oga gen Buratai and Oga president, this is a very serious issue that threatens our national security.

You see there is either a breakdown in our army logistics and plans, or the unit has not been sufficiently funded.

Was it napoleon that said, that an army moves on it's stomach.

Denying your soldiers water and food at the front is tantamount to sabotage. And whoever sabotages our troops while at war, is committing a treasonous act.

Since the army is a govt institution, and govt institutions are inefficient at carrying out certain tasks, because of the perceived lack of profit motive.
Let us employ the PPP way. public-private-partnerships to run some army services, such as feeding, logistics, hospitals and training.

If dangote or any Nigerian businessman was paid a fee for these troops to have water and supplies in alargano today, these soldiers would have water, soft drnks, ice cream and more than what they need to survive regardless of the difficult terrain.

Use the profit motive to provide these ancilliary services to the army, and let the army just focus on fighting.

The americans have done likewise. It's the wave of the future.

Until about 10-15 years ago, NPF used WW2 era bolt action rifles. They have since graduated to AK-47s, as they were being routinely outgunned by armed robbers.

NA for it's part is transitioning from the FN-FAL to the various AK's, Tavors, Beryls and what have you.

The FN-FALs and some older AK's seem to be going to the civil defense force. Which if trained properly, can morph into a proper reserve service to assist our armed forces.

The civilian JTF are now receiving uniforms and are being incorporated into our security infrastructure. They should be given those ex NPF bolt action rifles, to be more effective.

Also, captured BHT AKs should be given to their squad commanders.

The Nigerian armed forces and intelligence services should now be experts at selecting promising candidates from the CDC and the CJTF.

The same should apply to ex niger delta militants that have surrendered their arms and gone thru demobilization and rehabilitation courses.
Some ex militants, used to be employed in pipeline protection and anti bunkering activities.

Rather than having them return to their old habits, they should be incorporated into CDC and CJTF type units to assist the army. They are rich in necessary intelligence, knowledge of the battle space and combat experience.

Of course, it must be stipulated, that betrayal of their new formations would attract a court martial, and the firing squad.

While I support PMB's war against corruption, he screwed up this time, and owes the army an apology.

1) He campaigned against the use of private military contractors aka mercenaries when the last administration finally saw the light and contracted STTEP.

2) He terminated their contract or did not renew it upon assuming power without 1st evaluating their initial impact.

Where does he think the new counterinsurgency strategy is going to come from, when you refuse to learn from the experts ?
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by doziex: 10:38pm On Nov 26, 2016
bidexiii:
NOP..... shocked
Colonel Eeben and Angela's general de Matos circa early 1990's. angola had figured out that Cuban Soviet tactics and all the tanks in Africa wouldn't defeat savimbi's sometime conventional, sometimes guerilla army.
So awash in oil money, and badly in need of peace, he recruited his former SADF enemies of the last decade ( the 80s )

And they delivered. They taught that angolan the tactics that worked against UNITA.

Later in sierra leone, Eeben and about 250 men from the executive outcomes, a PMC outfit. Checkmated the hit and run tactics of the RUF rebels.

So after I cajoled our armed forces to hire the guy as an advisor for years on the then influential beegeagles blog, they hired him for just 3 months before the last election or did PMB terminate the contract ??

Anyway, war is a science. Counterinsurgency is probably it's most difficult sub set.
Colonel Eeben's pedigree with the SADF and subsequent exploits in EO and STTEP puts him on the level of US generals Petraeus and Mchrystal.

And time and time again, the nigerian armed forces had a chance to learn from one of the best, but our foolish pride got the best of us. We suffered massive losses in the ecomog wars, because we didn't know counterinsurgency. Twenty years later we are losing our best men and our citizens are being savagely butchered, because we refused to learn . especially after sierra leone.
Now we wonder why the chadians and the Cameroonians ( at least the BIR )field better combat units than us. They too learn from experts when they get a chance.

We think we can just send a batallion to belarus and abracadabra microwave style we gots special forces.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by doziex: 7:09am On Nov 20, 2016
Our armed forces seem to excel at institution building. Which is a great thing. Recently, pictures on bidexiii's threads have been about base visits by military brass, showcasing investment in new housing, gym and other troop welfare facilities.

We have seen our able COAS on frontline visits with the troops boosting troop morale. These investments in "institution building" which includes recruiting the best able body and sound minded men and women Nigeria has to offer both in the non commissioned and the commissioned ranks ;would pay great dividends in the near future.

Our armed forces should be the tip of the spear, not an institute for social engineering, or constituency youth employment.

The resumption of the BMATT activities is also a great thing. As the british are the best at military institution building.

Having said all these, the business end of a fighting force is also equally as important. Issues of our true "combat power" is what we need to improve on. This involves all Nigerians. The electorate, the citizen, the blogosphere, our print/TV/internet journalists and of course our elected officials.

The US DoD defines Combat Power as the total means of destructive and/or disruptive force which a military unit/formation can apply against the opponent at a given time.

The combined resources and ingenuity of the Nigerian people, has to be reflected in the combat power of our armed forces. But hitherto, we all abandoned this crucial responsibility up to the military alone.

It is our military, our sons and daughters bleeding, our nation that is shamed or made proud by their actions. we should be in all of their business.
Also, our armed forces has to drop their "bloody Civilian" colonial mentality.

Imagine what a group comprising of Innoson, proforce, dangote, and DICON can achieve in terms of effective provisions for our armed forces.

Imagine the impact our press would have on educating the populous, if they themselves are educated on military issues and correct terminology. (lol)

Study how your counterparts in UK and the US cover their military.

We should all know what military equipment is lacking in the NE/Niger Delta. And we should all be full of ideas/suggestions on the best practices in the solution to this decades old problem.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by doziex: 1:23am On Nov 15, 2016
Guys, If NAF loves these Alpha Jets so much, why don't we just acquire them in sufficient numbers?
At least 3 squadrons of 15 jets each, a wing of about 50 jets.

At least our strike missions would be squadron or half a squadron sized raids. Saturating BHTs with bombs and rockets.

Our best source, would be the French or the germans who use them as jet trainers.

We still have 21 L-39s, languishing in the Czech republic. All the while, wearing NAF's Roundels. The Syrian air force, is making good use of this very type.

The MB-339CD NKO ? it was supposed to be undergoing an upgrade by the Italians.

NA wa O ? How serious are we about prosecuting this war ?

As I have said before, it is a tactical error for a single Tank crew to be racing from firefight to firefight .

The Tank depends on trained infantry or a tight formation of other tanks and infantry fighting vehicles for it's survival. A lone tank would be easily disabled by an RPG or a mine.

Mi-35Ms, the likes of the turboprop Tucano and attack jets should be providing the relief that mortars and artillery can't provide.

Those who frequented that blog would remember that I was vilified for always advocating our use of Professional Military Companies as military advisers.

Such as Colonel Eeben Barlow's STTEP former linked to the Executive Outcomes of Angola and sierra leonan fame.

Unfortunately GEJ waited till 3 months before the elections to buy weapons, and hire STTEP as a sub contractor. They advised, set up and fought with our 72 special forces MSF.

This became our most effective unit in the theatre. But after 3 months of work, their contract was terminated by PMB's administration, who campaigned against the use of "mercenaries" during the election.

I said then it was a huge mistake. 3 months is NOT enough. NA needs embedded advisers for some years to come.

Well, the aforementioned "senior officer" interviewed by the premium times is sadly proving me right again.

A sound counterinsurgency strategy would not only adjust as the insurgents evolve, it would anticipate their evolution. And acquire the equipment to execute the necessary strategy.

The land bound tank shouldn't be rushing to hotspots to provide relief, air assets such as the Super Tucano, Mi-35Ms and heavily armoured attack jets like the Su-25s should be providing emergency relief to troops under fire.

Tanks without the protection of infantry in a structured formation are easily ambushed and disabled by mines and RPGs.

NA needs the right military advisers and the right equipment and of course tactics to win this war.
