The issue of fuel scarcity in the country has been worsened by a growing uncertainty which is connected to the payment of oil subsidies to marketers.
According to an industry source who spoke to The Cable, these are three reasons why you will keep queuing for fuel:

Banks have become hesitant to finance imports of petrol and kerosene and have now tagged the transactions as a “political risk”.
Recent payments to marketers were sourced from a loan taken by the federal government, a development that effectively shook the confidence of the financial system on the immediate future of subsidy in the country.
Most oil marketers have decided against importing fuel until the incoming government of President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari settles in and defines its direction on the deregulation of the downstream sector.

Wildlife experts were shocked to discover the 'fattest snake you will ever see' in tropical Queensland.

According to DailyMail, the scrub python, found near Kuranda in far north Queensland, is more than five metres long and weighs in excess of 50kgs. Two workers at the Rainforestation Nature Park discovered the snake in the middle of the road, after first thinking it was a tree branch. It has now been nicknamed 'Scrubby'.

General manager of Rainforestation Nature Park Chris Grantham told the ABC:
'Because it was quite cool it was quite docile. So they grabbed it and put it in the back of the ute so it didn't get run over. We have heaps of scrub pythons up here - they're very common in this part. But nothing that size, that was just incredible. You find them two to three metres long ... sometime a bit bigger. But never one that fat.

The Norwegian and Philippine ambassadors to Pakistan, along with 4 others have been killed in a helicopter crash in the northern region of the country.
BBC reports that the wives of the Indonesian and Malaysian envoys and two Pakistan army pilots also died in the crash, while 5 others were injured including the Polish and Dutch ambassadors.

The military helicopter reportedly crashed during an emergency landing in the Naltar valley region.
The group was reportedly enroute part of the disputed Kashmir region to attend the inauguration of a chairlift project built by the air force for tourists in Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan territory.
Confirming the incident via a Twitter post, military spokesman Asim Bajwa said 11 foreigners and 6 Pakistanis were on board the MI-17 helicopter.
The Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was scheduled to inaugurate the facility, but his aircraft turned back from Gilgit after reports of the crash.
The cause of the crash is currently unknown.

President Goodluck Jonathan is said to have held a secret meeting with President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.

The night-time meeting was reportedly held inside the President’s office at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.


It is not clear what discussed during the meeting, which was the third of such since Buhari was declared winner of the March 28 presidential election.

“I heard there was a meeting but I have no idea where or when it held or what was discussed,” Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu said.

The meeting reportedly started at about 9pm and lasted for only 30 minutes.

Jonathan is set to handover to Buhari on May 29, 2015.

There has been rumors that US First Lady, Michelle Obama will be present during the inauguration of Muhammadu Buhari, but the expectation was turned down as President Barack Obama and Michelle disclosed that she will be absent during the inauguration ceremony, rather, a delegate would be representing them.
It was earlier rumoured that the First Lady would be part of the delegation but the White House has said that she won’t be in attendance.

Sources indicated yesterday, that a sizeable number of the rescued girls from Boko haram in Sambisa were visibly pregnant, even as unofficial reports put the latest number of pregnant girls in one of the camps in Borno as at last Saturday at 214.

Giving this indication in Lagos, Executive Director, UNFPA, Prof. Babatunde Osotimehin, also disclosed that in the last one year, the organization had taken deliveries of over 16,000 pregnancies in the troubled North East part of the country.

Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, had in the wee hours of Monday, May 4, 2015 commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Sullivan Chime of the state.


According to Daily Post, fourteen lawmakers, led by the Speaker, Eugene Odo read a notice of impeachment against Chime during a sitting.

Dolapo Osinbajo is the wife of Buhari's vice, Prof. Osinbajo, and the grand-child of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Dolapo is the leader of the Ladies Fellowship of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus House Paris, Banana Island, Lagos.

She has testimonies as a humble and submissive wife by those who are close to her family, she supported her husband in 2007 to establish ‘The Orderly Society Trust’, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to the promotion of Christian ethics and orderliness.


While others sought political offices to touch the people’s lives, Mrs. Osinbajo yearned for a different avenue to reach the larger society, especially the poor. She invariably wrote a book, They Call Me Mama.

Having been admitted to hospital for heart attacks and septicemia in the last three years, Carl is facing death unless he drastically changes his diet. But unlike Paul Mason, previously Britain's heaviest man, Mr Thompson said he does not want to undergo gastric band surgery.



'I need to go somewhere to lose my weight naturally because I can’t do it on my own,' he said. 'I don’t want a gastric band, they’re dangerous. I’d like the help of a dietician and a psychiatrist to help shift the weight.”
He is confined to the ground floor flat where he lives alone in Dover, Kent, kept company by a team of NHS carers who come to bathe him and cook for him every day.

Peter Okoye has denied reports that he and his brother had separated.
Two weeks ago, Paul Okoye made claims to fact that he wrote a number of Psquare's hits. A lot of people interpreted this to mean that Peter and Paul were splitting up.

Muhammadu Buhari has commented that terrorist sect, Boko Haram is a fraud.
Buhari stated further that the sect can be defeated by denying it its recruitment base.
The President-elect made the comments on Monday, April 27, 2015, at the Defence House in Abuja while receiving a delegation from Nasarawa State which was led by the state Governor, Tanko Al-Makura.
“The fraud called Boko Haram can be defeated by denying it a recruitment base. No religion allows for the killing of children in school dormitory, in markets and places of worship. They have nothing to do with religion. They are terrorists and we are going to deal with them as they deal with terrorists anywhere,” Buhari said in a statement issued by his media aide, Garba Shehu.

Buhari had earlier said that Boko Haram would feel the strength on Nigeria’s ‘collective will’ once he is sworn into office.
He however urged Nigerians not to expect miracles from his administration.

A thirty-five-year-old Kaduna-born cyclist and supporter of the president-elect, Mohammed Kabiru Jafaru, yesterday embarked on a journey to meet with the vice president-elect in Lagos State.


Mohammed, a resident of Hayin Malam Bello in Rigasa district of Igabi local government area of Kaduna State, took off on his journey to Lagos at exactly 6: 35am at the palace of Sarkin Hayin Malam Bello, Alhaji Kabiru Isa Gangarida.

Speaking to newsmen before embarking on the journey, Mohammed said:


“I have decided to embark on this journey to Lagos because I want to go and thank Yoruba people for their immense support and contributions that led to the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari during the March 28 presidential election.

The decision to undertake the journey came to my mind after analysing the votes cast for Buhari by the Yoruba people and after I discussed my intention with my immediate family and friends, they encouraged me to go on the journey.”

Mohammed, a father of four who lives at Goro road in Hayin Malam Bello, further said:

“I have never been to Lagos before; this is my first time and only God knows how many days I will spend before reaching Lagos”.

Asked whether he has any fear about the journey, Mohammed said:

“I don’t have any fear because I believe in God that nothing will happen to me on the road; all I want is people’s prayers so that I will reach Lagos safely.”

Also speaking, an APC chieftain in the state, Hon. Kailani Mohammed, said Mohammed Kabiru will be received by the vice president-elect, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and other prominent members of the APC in Lagos on his arrival, and wished Mohammed a safe trip.

President Goodluck Jonathan has prayed for the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari and his incoming governent. He also urged Nigerian leaders to be ready to make sacrifices for the growth of the country.

The President made the comments on Saturday, April 25, 2015, while speaking at the fifth presidential prayer breakfast held inside the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“We continue to pray for the country and of course, we pray for the incoming government and also pray for us who are leaving to have the opportunity to serve humanity in different phases,” he said.
“I remember in 2009 when I visited the Nordic countries, they told me they were celebrating 200 years of peace that has enabled them to develop. Nigeria was 49 years as an independent nation in 2009. If the Nordic countries, well developed technologically and otherwise, it means crisis really retards development,” the president added.

The President also said that despite the many problems faced by Nigeria, the country would overcome.
“So we have challenges, today we are talking about Boko Haram in the north, kidnapping in South-South, South-East. At times you are forced to think that the nation is ending, definitely this country will overcome this challenge. That is the reason for these prayers. Just like prayers helped Nehemiah to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, our constant prayers will help us rebuild this nation,” Jonathan said.
“For me, I have to thank God and Nigerians for the privilege and opportunity given to me this past 16 years. I served my state as a deputy governor and governor for eight years. From government house in Yenagoa and then I came here to the state house, Abuja served the country as vice president and a president. That is a reasonable length of time and so I have to thank God, first because if God did not will it, it won’t have happened,” he added.

Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo has said he visited six African leaders since the March 28 Presidential election and they are all happy that incumbent, President Goodluck Jonathan was defeated at the poll.

He said some Nigerians likened Jonathan to a moving train that was going to crash Nigeria if not stopped.
Obasanjo said this to an audience at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington
“I have visited six countries since the election, they are as happy about the results. It is good not only for Nigeria, it is good for Africa and I believe it is good for the world,” he said.
Obasanjo advised African leaders against ‘do or die’ politics. He cited Togo, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon as examples of African countries with leaders refusing to give up power, fearing they might “land in prison or in the grave.”

A military facility in Plateau State reportedly witnessed a bomb blast at about 9:45 this morning, April 25.
The bomb exploded at the Nigerian Army’s 3rd Armoured Division barracks at Bassa Local Government Area of the state.
Casualty details are still sketchy, but witnesses and security sources have confirmed the incident. Some reports say it is fatal.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal believes Ryan Giggs will be his successor.
Fourty-one year old Giggs, was in charge for four games last season after David Moyes's dismissal and was appointed assistant manager to Van Gaal in May 2014.

Van Gaal, 63, is coming to the end of his first season in charge and has a contract until 2017.
When asked about Giggs, he told MUTV: "I expect that he will be the next manager after I am gone."
He added: "Now I have the responsibility. He has tasks that he has to perform like the players [do]. What he has to do, for me, he does it very well."
Giggs said it was "the proudest moment" of his career to take charge of the club after Moyes's sacking last season.
The Welshman, who made a record 963 appearances for the club as a player, won two, drew one and lost one during his time in charge.
Meanwhile, Van Gaal says United have offered goalkeeper David De Gea "a lot of money" to keep him at Old Trafford.
De Gea's fine form this season has seen the 24-year-old linked with a move back to Spain, with reports European champions Real Madrid are lining up a move for the former Atletico Madrid player.
His contract at United expires at the end of next season.
"It takes a long time now," Van Gaal said when asked how negotiations with De Gea were progressing.
"It can always happen. I am not the boss. I want him to stay. The player is the boss - he can say 'yes' or 'no'.
"He has to sign. We have offered him a lot of money."
De Gea joined United from Atletico in June 2011
