My Grandmother's cataract was removed, back in 2010, in an eye surgery completely operated by robots. It was only supervision and monitoring the doctors did.
Now imagine what they could do today. Perhaps heart surgery?
They (the robots) already babysit in Japan and South Korea That's great |

Calitoscassius: Yes,
I agree. I would like read the book too.
In terms of our emotions spiritualities. Well hopelly might improve for the better or as i said we might end up depressed for not engaging our brains and bodies more. Some people feels better emotionally when they are busy at work, take that away they b be so bored they d end up using susbtances to kill their boredom. People would interact less. I mean, look at what social media has done to us, people hardly interact physically. Friends that i would bother to visit before would just watssap or facebook me and vise versa.
Very interesting times, am glad to around also. Good point but then again think about it, phone calls and emails changed the way humans communicated and we adapted to it. Now that social media is here to stay, we must learn to adapt to that as well. Communicating with people physically is essential no doubt and my guess is that VR will help fix that in no time. We can't go backwards. Best to fix any underlying concerns with better technology |

Calitoscassius: I agree...
Humans would end up depressed eventually for not using their brains much and doing anything physical. I actually do like to think that when that time comes, humans would be better for it since robots will take care of the mundane things/hard labour like cooking, farming, construction etc giving us room to worry less and connect more with our emotional/spiritual side. Think of it this way. If a Nigerian is always worried about consistent power supply, what happens when he leaves for UK or US? Well when he gets there, he no longer needs to worry since it is always there and so his interests shifts to other things. If we have robots and AI practically doing everything for us, then our interests will radically shift towards what the AIs cannot handle which is our emotions and spirituality and hopefully the world will be better for it. I must confess that my idea is not original. Two decades ago, I read a sci fi book that practically describes what we are all concerned about now and more. You should read it too. The book is Abduction by Robin Cook who incidentally is also a medical doctor and a visionary. The book also alluded to a concept called Uploaded Intelligence which the animation Pantheon in Netflix shed better light on. Uploaded intelligence is yet to be a thing but maybe some day. Intereting times we live in and I am grateful that I get to witness some of it |

Calitoscassius: I believe you.. Banks are shutting their branches, co's customers hadly visited branches in the last 5 years. Everything can be done online.
I don't think robots can look after babies. But i am not completely disputing it. It could be possible in the future.
Really? You think robots can do better jobs at surgery? Interesting. Yes I do strongly believe that robots will do a better job in surgery. I think what the world needs right now is time to hone AI/robotics to solve day to day problems. Already, it appears we are on it with self driving cars and large language models |

Calitoscassius: Yes, manual labours like factory work. Robots can not cook or babysit,
Also as i said, office work would be gone in few years it is already happening now. Systems can be programmed to type messages, send, recieve and store. Make phone calls, recieve, arrange appointments, send letters.
So what would I need human assistance for in my office for.
Even Doctors like you, would not be needed in the near future. We are already self diagnosing over here. Just ask google, what our symptoms are and it would diagnose, besides, many doctors or GPs that i have seen recently googles symptoms anyway. Thesedays they do not wanna get their hands dirty. One time i had pile, went to my local surgery the doctor was a female Indian, after explaining to her my problem she said, lie face down on the bed, take your underwear off. I am was like huh? anyway , i complied, she put put some gloves on,before i could say hey! her middle finger already inside my butthole. After the examinations. She said i had pile, said, just eat plenty of fruit and vegetable, drink plenty of water, chew your food properly before swallowing, eat some fibre food and you would be fine.
That was the last time a doctor bothered to do practical examination. Thesedays they don't bother. Oh believe me when I say that all of our jobs are at risk. I would rather a robot performs a surgery on me than an actual human. As for robots cooking and taking care of babies, I can assure that that they will do a far better job than humans as well |
