Romance / Re: Why is it that only Girls are asked to keep their virginity? by drbre(m): 8:47am On Aug 06, 2015
@Gurgle and Mrs Phyno...kudos to u girls...i can see u had a sleepless nite doing sister talks...

yes @ gurgle, she's beautiful...hoping all NL could upload dere real pics..theres no need to hide, except dere reasons im not privy to....

Books recommended to read for everyone above d age of 25...SUBORDINATE , and MR FANTASTIC both by Fela Durotaye..Excellent for singles who r getting groomed for the next level...

As for the talk bout virginity, its really a non issue, my friends laffed me to scorn when @17 and fresh frm sec sch, i reveald that i was...that prompted my desire to speed things up...and so, i dont really see y guys crave for virgins, i dont..infact am scared of them cos i wont know ow to deal with them..@ punkyveer, i feel u...i had someone i was almost getting married to who was a virgin and dat in itself was a prob...she was sooo naive plus other matters...if a lady is loyal, she doesnt av to be a virgin before she gets my approval...afterall every virgin gets disvirgined...someday, somehow...

In the final analysis, what really matters is the character.

We should get to understand the concept referred to as the degree of error. This is a margin that is allowed for mishaps in any human activity. As you will most likely agree, there is no human institution that can be said to be 100% perfect, hence the degree of error. Prof Atahiru Jega, an accomplished intellectual publicly acknowledged some of the issues of the last electilns i.e. Underage voting, voters intimidation etc. However he made it crystal clear tht these were isolated cases and they are not substantial enough to nullify the entire process. Here is where the degree of error concept becomes very helpful. God bless Nigeria ..if its in His will to do so.

I like Jega. He strikes me like a honest man with integrity. But I don't know why he keeps praising the last elections. They were a sham. Faulty card readers nationwide. From underaged voting in the north, to voter intimidations in the south. From abundance of fake result sheets to foul play and compromise by so many electoral commissioners. Jega should stop fooling himself. He's a good man but his elections were a sham.

Having listened to both sides of d argument, here is the jury's verdict :

1. Everyone is entitled to his/ her opinion and biases. In the light of this, no one is either a hundred percent correct or a hundred percent wrong. Its your opinion and you are entitled to it in light of your experiences. That does not make the other person immature.

2. We may all never agree on a particular point of view but we may agree on certain parameters to judge our decision. The pertinent question therefore is 'WHY DO I WANT TO KEEP BEING FRIENDS WITH MY EX?'

3. In response to the question raised in point number 2, we may want to be friends with an ex for certain reasons some of which maybe mundane or noble. The mundane may include 'accidental sex' and the noble maybe for the Sake of quality interpersonal relationships.

4. The next question is 'WHY DON'T I WANT TO BE FRIENDS WITH MY EX?'

5. In response to the poser above, i may decline any form of friendship with my ex on d grounds that i have
deeply seated hurts that emanates from the relationship. In my experience, this may include wicked intentions on the part of the ex or worse still infidelity, disloyalty , consistent lies.

Meanwhile special thanks to lalastica, seun, ikenna351 and afam4eva and all nairalanders...
Better things are coming.

Now to the topic....
I think what binds many tribes in Nigeria is a common hatred for the Igbos. This hatred i believe is hinged on the purported dominance of Igbos. What is it about Igbo dominance? Here is what a fellow nairalander has to say...

Great point. Fear of Igbo domination as my father
would say is a sign of weakness on the part of
the fearer and lack of confidence in their ability. In
other words, for someone to dominate you in a
non physical way whether economically, socially, educationally, in any way, shape and form as long
as they are not holding you hostage physically
from succeeding but solely by intelligence in a
level playing field, then the conclusion is that
person or group of people are smarter than
you...this has been scientifically proven. So any tribe that fears Igbo domination are less smarter
than the Igbos otherwise compete with them. The
reason why Igbos do better in everything that
they do, which is often mistaken as domination is
because they are smarter than the rest of other
ethnic groups in Nigeria. When I mean "smarter" I
don't mean individually as a Hausa man can be
smarter than a yoruba, yoruba smarter than an
ijaw man an ijaw may be smarter than an Igbo,
e.t.c., however as a whole in terms of an ethnic
group, the Igbos lead the pack in Nigeria and
some tribes see it as a domination but actually it
isn't...they are just more smarter and have more
drive than others. Dr. Thomas Sowell detailed this
in his book and actually mentions Igbos as the
most successful ethnic group in Nigeria despite
the civil war set back.

If Nigeria wants to be truly great, we should not trifle with any tribe, especially the Igbos.

Politics / Re: Chimamanda Adichie's Article On The Oba Of Lagos Saga by drbre(m): 7:53am On Apr 11, 2015
Whatever is written here is not seen by Chimamanda cos d last time I checked, she's not on nairaland.

While we may all be quick to judge and jump to conclusions, the truth is that we all operate from a certain level of bias. It is called worldview.

What I see and approve as right or wrong is determined by my set of beliefs and philosophy, essentially known as worlview.

The critical question I have asked since the outburst of this regrettable episode is 'Who is a Nigerian?'. As Professor Wole Soyinka said long ago, Nigeria is an idea that exists only in the head of some people.

Are we truly a nation with one people that share a common goal and a set of collective aspirations? I honestly doubt it.

We all have a God given right as different nationalities to decide the terms of our mutual existence in the geographical expression named Nigeria.

Some of us have come to increasingly appreciate the beauty in our diversity but we must insist that the terms must be openly dicussed and enshrined in the constitution for the purpose of equity and justice.

Oba Akiolu's unguarded statement will certainly (and indeed has) go beyond Lagos elections and it should serve as a rallying point for all asundry to renew the calls for a soveriegn national conference.
I want to see a Nigeria where our worldview will first be as Nigerians without any recourse to tribal sentiments be it Hausa, Ibo or Yoruba.

God bless Nigeria.

The statement of Kabiyesi is highly regrettable just, as the stool is highly reverred. I will appeal to all to bury the hatchet and give peace a chance. We should rise above petty tribalism by all means. This further justifies the age-long call for a sovereign national conference where our togethernes will be put in the right perspective. We all have a stake in Nigeria, and together, we are stronger. God bless Nigeria.

Anyone that reads your post without first reading the Mr Wife Seekers poat would be misguided towards believing that by any means you are speaking the truth. You sound very 'alright' but I have reasons to question your rationalisation. I agree with you that a man must first find a means of livelihood before thinking of a woman. However, do u recall that this same Mr Wife Seeker said that he earns between 60k and 70k per month. That's moderate by any Nigerian city standards. Except you live in another clime, I should ask how much you think he should earn before contemplating marriage. You sound like omo ti won ko, I plead that you should not misguide people. Taking care of a home can never be quantified successfully in naira and kobo and a man must be man enough to start..much more with a decent income. Selah!

Religion is the trade in stock of petty minds. The Bible says that ' we are the salt of the earth' and if as salt we lose our flavour, of what good are we then?

I speak as a child of God..not what you may call ' Christian'. If a christian is in power via PDP and corruption has reached unprecedented levels in the nation, then I ask you ..of what good is that?

The mistake u religious bigots keep making is your failure to realize that Christ never preached the 'gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ' .His message was all about ' The gospel of the kingdom

' ..When asked to teach how we should pray, He said ' Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name...YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN'..
The will of God as concerns the earth is that of repentance and orderliness, coming to the saving knowledge of Christ.
When a people are truly seeking Christ, then corruption will not thrive in their midst.
The Bible says in dealing with one another, let your yea be yea and your nay be nay. If we keep to that simple truth, we need not be afraid and fly ethnic kites or throw religious cards in our polity.
We need not be afraid as Christians if muslims are in key offices, our major concern should be that whoever occupies the office should bring justice to all people.
Romans 13 says that rulers are ministers of God for good.

Therefore, we should rise above this pettiness and stand up to the very many challenges of nation building.

emmydeep: Iyabo, Obasanjos daughter confirmed in her leter that Obj has been a member of APC. It is not new.

The bad people in Nigeria have all joined APC and some shameless rascals are calling them progressives?
Progressives when they have placed only muslims in key civil service positions in Lagos, Osun and all other APC states.. What im saying is verifiable..

All those christians supporting APC today will surely cry tomorow because the main agenda of APC is to islamise Nigeria. A word, they say is enough for the wise.

APC e-Rats tantrum is expected as always in there attitude.

DISCLAIMER::: THIS IS A PRODUCT OF A FICTITIOUS IMAGINATION..IT IS JUST FOR LAUGHS!

Revealed! How Chelshit's Jose Mourinho Jinxed Manchester United's David Moyes...Impeccable sources reaching our fictitious mind has revealed that the man behind the current trials of Manchester United's Manager is none other than the self acclaimed 'happy one', Jose Mourinho. At about 10:45am bst, the imaginative conjurer who Mourinho consulted strolled into our studios claiming that he can no longer hold the hitherto top secret. The Jewish conjurer who goes by the name Istifanus Moriah narrated how Mourinho stormed his residence in faraway Tel Aviv sometime in June claiming an irreparable damage to his ego and aspiration as SAF had named David Moyes as his heir apparent on perhaps the most glamorous throne in world football. Not the one to forgive, Mou decided to cast a spell on the Chosen one..this spell, although fictitious, would take a discerning mind to PUSH away..after narrating his ordeal, Istifanus was taken to an undisclosed clinic for further examination..Meanwhile the surreal allegation continues..
