The next day, i stole a thousand Naira from my mother's purse...and to my dismay, she found out where i hid the money. I ran out of the house to sleep with a friend. Hmmm. At 2:10am we heard a knock at the door. It was my mother, traversing the length and breadth of our area in search of me at the 2am!. She took me home, placed a food before me and told me that she knows it was a mistake, that i never intended to steal again, but that i needed the money and that next time i need money, i should ask. That act of passion moved me.
***permit me at this juncture to write a poem for my mum.

'In the cold of the night
you engaged me in a fight
Not one to lay waste
but one to make great

who is like a mother
or who is like a father

A girl can leave when love wanes
A guy can leave after sex
but a Mum stays forever
