Please I need help. What do i use to reduce my document to CIC accepted size ie 4MB.
well, in my own case when I faced the same issue merging POF docs, I used a scan app (iScanner) from my ipad to scan my docs....thus the size of each doc became bout 200-350kb then I merged them with 'ilovePDF' app.
Maybe u can try this out.

Or reduce the resolution before u scan using PC. For mine (even the smallest resolution was still large about 1.2mb per doc), maybe I was using an old program....who knows...

But Elders in the house will have better solutions....

All the best in your application.

Please post it here and yours truly would update page 1

This is just a guide for doctors. It is subject to change and contributions....(copied n modified alil bit)

For medical doctors, verification of your certificate is done through MCC (Medical Council of Canada). Check out their site for info. www.mcc.ca.

Verification of MBBS certificate for ECA is outlined below.

1) Open an account on www.physiciansapply.ca. About $290 CAD non-refundable fee is charged.

2) Request for a source verification (svr) of your qualification on the physicians apply site (this is done through ECFMG). It costs about $170CAD.
NB payments can be done with MasterCard. I used first bank of Nigeria MasterCard.

3)Send your Documents to MCC
a) notarized copy of your mbbs degree certificate,
international passport.
b) Four downloaded docs
i) certified identity confirmation page (The notary
lawyer fills this form also, and he also certifies
the upper passport photograph.
You will need just two
passport photographs (50mmX70mm) for this
page.
ii) Cover letter for your medical certificate.
iii) Cover letter for your international passport.
iv) Consent Release form.

All 4 docs above (i-iv) are downloaded from your physicians apply account after paying and filling the page for SVR.

Package and send (a) and (b) via courier (I used UPS) to

Medical Council of Canada
1021 Thomas Spratt Place
Ottawa, ON Canada K1G 5L5.

NB for females who are married and have different names on their medical certificate and International passports, you will need to add evidence of change of name (marriage certificate, affidavit for change of name) to the documents being sent to MCC.

4) 7-14 days days after receiving no. 3, MCC forwards your degree certificate to ECFMG who inturn sends a request for a source verification of your degree to your school via regular mail which takes an average of 6-8 weeks to get to your school (with a copy of your degree, a form to be filled and a pre-addressed envelope).

NB at this point, you will get in touch with your medical school to be on a look out for your documents. So they can inform you when it arrives and u pay the necessary fee for your school to send it back to ECFMG Philadelphia
.

If the school does not respond within 60 days, they will send another request to the school. At this point you can opt for a courier delivery to your school. They will only repeat this step 4 up to a maximum of 3 times.

5)ECFMG responds to your school and processes your verification within 20 working days and then you can proceed to step 6.

6)Request for an ECA from MCC. this would cost about $106 and would take 21 working days to process. ECA certificate appears in your physicians apply account afterwards. But this certificate is without the official stamp. Some say you can't use this (upload) for EE, as it doesn't have the official stamp.

7)Pay a courier fee for delivery of your ECA to Nigeria (about $146). This is your official ECA document.
NB some people opt to request that ECA is sent to friends or family residing in Canada to save cost.
These friends/family inturn scan and send the scanned ECA to you via email. This you can use for your EE process (Upload Post ITA).

Note that this process may take as long as 100 days because of Step 4 as most Nigerian schools claim not to receive this mail. To speed up your process, you will have to keep tabs on your school right after ecfmg requests for a source verification and ensure they check their mail and then you pay for a courier delivery back to ECFMG.

I hope this helps... Like I said it's just a guide from experience....the Payments (CAD) are subject to change/upgrade. So please confirm the current amount from their site. God bless us all as we forge ahead in this journey. Amen
Thank you.

I want to request that you share the PEBC assessment process and timelines so that it can be included in page 1. I actually believe the PEBC and MCC process should feature as separate posts on page 1. @ drcynthia... can you also help with MCC.

So that newbies wont come asking for it again.

@smslive.. what do you think??

Cheers.

@raphrulz sure I can....were do I post it?

Long post alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will give the type of testimony that I benefited from in the past.

After being visited by two "ghost updates", I said that if I miss out on the next PPR rain, then there may be trouble cooking in my application .

My two greatest days on this journey was the day I passed my IELTS and PPR. The feeling was like being a born again for Christians. Let me quickly give my timeline before my long story starts.

Desicion to travel was at the peak when I read on the news late last year that Canada will take over a million immigrants between 2018/2020. Then I said to myself, it is time to try through FSW, as I have been looking for admission with schorlarhip all these while.

IELTS (1): 24th march
IELTS (2): 24th May passed on 6th June( My happiest day on this journey).
ECA: 20th June
EE profile: 22 June
Hubby IELTS : updated 13th July
CRS:448
ITA: 25th July
AOR: 5th Sept
MED: 27th Sept
BIL: 28th Sept
ADR: 17th November
Ghost Update 1: 27th November
Ghost Update 2: 4th December
PPR : 7th December dated 6th December
Family size : 4
VO: Ottawa
Travel experience: Nil
Province picked: Sask and Alberta
AOR-PPR: 93 days

No, there won't be a need for extra adults if they have clocked two years.

Children less than two years travel as infants so they are not allocated seats which means they are sitting on someone's laps and the rule is one adult per infant. Children between 2 and 11 years travel as 'children' - they get their own seat on the plane pay the child fare of 75%. Any child 12 and above travels as an adult - seat on the plane and 100% of the airfare.
Ok....so no way to travel with three under 2 yrs kids and two.adults.....its not fair o

Indeed it is and while not trying to prejudge what you will be told, you may need to start looking for another family or friend that you know may be travelling and plan with them for backup. I just saw this.

hmmmm....what if they are above 2 years? No need for extra adults

Any child above two years old has to buy his/her own seat so yes, you need 3 seats. A child between 2-11 years old is however paying 75% of your full adult fare.
please help ,me check also...two adults and three babies under age 2...God bless u....All airlines r saying an adult must accompany the child...na wa o

Airlines typically do not allow a passenger to be responsible for more than one child under the age of two so they state that any passenger under two must be accompanied by an adult. I now do not know if they would allow you to buy a 3rd seat without the 3rd accompanying adult. Maybe they would make exceptions for special cases e.g. parents with triplets? Who knows? Because how would they expect them to fly? Just thinking aloud..... You should call them and find out.
thank you, i will call them then, cos my case is perculiar grin

One adult per child? Never heard anything near this? IMO, board with your family and off you go. What you might want to consider is early check in so you can have a complete roll to your family while others are close by.

As for Cheap Airline, ET or Egypt air while serve you. If you are flying from Lagos, try Royal AirMoroc.

#graceahead
ok thanks. The thing is all the kids r under 2 yrs. So d rule is one adult can only lap a child....so I am thinking of buying a third seat...

Yes, for renewal, your existing passport has to be less than 6 months valid before the Nigerian passport office of the Immigration Service can approve issuance of a renewed passport to you. Visit www.immigration.gov.ng for more information.

Meanwhile, you can submit your PR application with your existing passport whilst waiting for the new one to come out(I'm sure the renewed passport should be out before your PR application gets approved),when you receive the new passport, then raise a Case Specific Enquiry (CSE) webform (search for the webform on www.canada.ca) to update CIC on the new passport and you"ll just be fine.

It will end in praise IJN!

Wow... bless your heart for this. My application just reverted to 1P1 yesterday after being on default 1P2 since AOR 8th OCT. Been waiting to start the passport waka next month but at the same time believing God for an early PPR in December too wink But if yours was expiring in May and you were asked for a new one in November, then for mine which is June, hmmmm... I'd go try my luck with the renewal thing asap. hearty congrats once more, and thanks for the timely response too. Meanwhile, I just got off the phone with an immigration Officer who's saying I can't initiate the process of getting a new passport till January as that is what the Law stipulates. All my efforts to persuade him for me to start by next month proved abortive. Have you got any contact that can turn things around for me or do I just wait it out till January and pray I don't get an ADR for that?
would pm u.....it is about writing a letter to the PCO stating Ur case and attaching a document.... alternatively get the process for renewal started online, pay online and register ...so once it's Dec/when and if u get ADR..u can apply and do express.

In all...i don't think they would stamp a passport with less that 6months validity. So just prepare for the inevitable....I wish u a speedy and hitch free ppr
