mekaprime: My goodness, how did i sour the movie?
Did I drop any spoilers?
It just my review & was in no way meant to discourage folks here from seeing the movie. Or so i should say what isn't, cause saying what is, would end up souring the movie for folks here?
microscope?.. you're funny, for that movie, you don't need a microscope to see all I've stated above.
Am not saying a few plot holes in a movie are bad, but when it becomes too much, there's basically nothing to enjoy, cause the movie is ruined, you basically see yourself angered(instead of being entertained) by the poor choices taken by the characters as a result of bad writing.
If you want to see a movie, do your best to ignore what other people say, cause if you do pay attention to what folks say, you might end up missing out on some very "good movies", what's displeased to me, might be appealing to you. Matured response. Respect....... |

mekaprime: The invisible Man(2020).....5.5/10 Genre:Horror, Mystery, Sci-Fi
It wasn't all that awful, neither was it any good, it was just there. Hmm..The plot holes were something else, infact, i used to think Bloodshot had lots of plot holes, but good Lord, this was massive, I wonder who wrote the script, and to think that a director gave a go ahead for this flick, without proper scrutiny is very unprofessional on his part. Some scenes were very much predictable. As for character development, asides the lead, all the other characters were zero. On the bright side, it did have quite the thrills & the jump scares, the soundtracks were also ok. All in all, the flick sure feels like a real wasted idea. My goodness, can't you people watch a movie without attempting to sour it for the rest of us? Do you take a microscope to the cinema? Enjoy movie jare, na entertainment |

jugger: History is written by the Victors and USA will definitely tweak the narrative to justify the use of the A-bomb. What really happened was Japan was ready to surrender provided they are allowed to do so with "minimum loss of face". Only stumbling block was that USA wanted post war Japan to eradicate their Monarch style of governance which Japan wasn't ready to do because it will go against everything they stand for. Guess what? After nuking Japan and accepting their surrender. Japan was still allowed to retain its monarch. Japan wasn't nuked because of surrender, it was nuked to make a statement to Soviet Union who was already expanding its territories in Eastern Europe and is becoming a threat to the US. Virtually all US major top military officers active during the WWII were against the use of the A-bomb because Japan was already overwhelmed by conventional bombs, why bring in the big boy? It was called Little Boy. |

justli: That would have crushed me to bite. Hope you Shaked it off? Sure. Took a while though. The invaluable lesson here is that I learnt to forge friendships which overtime may develop into relationships. In fact, I had a whole conveyor-belt of friends who are ladies, all hoping I would ask them out. The bolder ones got their wish though. lol And yes, I encountered that lady again some years later, but by then this bird had flown. I found her a bit shallow and uninteresting........ oh well |
Romance › Re: My First Experience In Wooing A Lady, An Edo Girl by DrDax: 12:14am On Feb 16, 2020 |
My first experience taught me to respect myself.
Beautiful girl, the stuff of wet-dreams, I was only 20.
We met at a movie rehearsal, and discovered she lived quite close to me.
So, we became friendly-strangers, the type that greet each other, say "how are you", and engage in short small talks.
After monitoring this lady for months and gathering info from friends and neighbors, I decided to approach,
Shout out to my cousin, my coach. lol
So there I was wobbling and fumbling, and wondering what I had got myself into while she just kept smiling and shaking her head.
"what say you?" and the classic response "I'll think about it"
Well, the following week was her birthday and I had emptied my piggy bank to get her the most expensive perfume I could find as well as a classy birthday card to buttress my point.
On D-Day, I got into my sunday best, sprayed some of my cousin's perfume, shined my shoe till I could see my reflection on it, and mustered all remaining confidence, and yes a little prayer before stepping to her house around 4pm.
Please picture this nervous wreck, holding a gift pack, and knocking on his prospect's gate while muttering to Cupid to please shoot his arrow into her heart and make my day. Infact, cupid told me she would jump right into my arms on seeing me.
Well the mum appeared on the balcony, took one look at me, and joined two and two together. She peered back into the house and called her daughter, "you have another visitor oooooo. Hmmmmmmm"
To cut a long story short, the girl of my "wet-dreams" came sauntering out in all her innocent beauty with some handsome tall dude. They both walked right past me into a car parked across the street.
And while walking towards the car, she uttered the sentence that would change my life forever.
She said, "give the package to my mum", and they zoomed off.
There I was standing at the gate like Charlie Chaplin feeling like an idiot, and her mum at the balcony trying unsuccessfully not to laugh out loud.
I swore to never try that nonsense again.
Till date.
End. |

DandeNumeruno: nigga, try to reason like someone with a brain box biko.
dani lost her parents and her sister earlier in the movie, but wasn't able to grief openly and properly because she didn't want to scare off her boyfriend, whom by the way was planning to dump her prior to her family tragedy. now he felt that he's stuck with her, and her female intuition felt his dilemma and hence didn't want to make the situation more unbearable.
then she got invited to a vacation/research trip by her boyfriend's swedish friend. since she didn't want to be alone and needed the company of of people she knew, she accepted.
but what she really needed is a support network. people that will share in her pain, and grieve with her openly. people that will share the pain of loss with her selflessly.
in that swedish cult/commune, she finally encountered the support network she needed.
the commune women grieved with her, cried with her, danced with her and laughed with her. https://cdn.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/midsommar-florence-pugh-slice-600x200.png
for the first time since she became an orphan she didn't feel alone. she felt loved and appreciated and when it finally dawned on her amidst the gory sight of her boyfriend's burning flesh, she felt liberated and smiled. With that your first line, you are an id.iot. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by DrDax: 11:45am On Jan 19, 2020 |
oyaskii: I think i buy into DandeNumeruno theory, She has certainly lost everything and she had no life to go back to, the only thing connecting her outside was Christian, whom she wasn't really sure if she sees him as a boyfriend or an emotional support system (Why can't he be both tho), and remember the call she made at the beginning, he even forgot her birthday, i think her ties to Christian was severed finally with that sexual ritual thing..and now she's "May queen" and has a family in Hårga...so that last scene she's was like feeling sorry for Christian then probably remembered all what he has done and was like bleep this mf...hence the smile
In some wierd way i think Pelle knew Dani was destined to be "May queen". On the flip side, She was on a mission to bring them MEAT for sacrifice in cahoot with Pelle. And her reward was May Queen. Every other happenings are just distractions.... |

oyaskii: Finally got around to see "Midsommar"...first of this movie was down right disturbing.. secondly the cinematography was stunning... thirdly the idea tho not fresh was refreshing...but i think the movie could have been so much more plot wise, seeing the director's cut i thought i will get more perspective but i would say it ended abruptly..
Like am so on the fence on this movie certainly not first choice to recommend to people because you can easily throw up seeing this movie but again the cinematography is breathtaking...
Finally was Ari Aster channelling his inner Christopher Nolan with that cheeky smile at the end scene? What did that mean? Liberation for Dani? I suspect she was in on it from the beginning. Mission accomplished.... |

mekaprime: Yeah there was a message, a strong one at that quite alright, but it was poorly conveyed, because the mumbled up ideas which made up the plot was gotten from different sources. The genre of the movie was mostly fantasy & not thriller, so why should there be a hidden messages in the first place. The message they were trying to pass across to the audience ought to have been in synchrony to the events of the movie on a superficial level. Ok, considering it was rated PG, the question is how many youngster/kids or even adults can comfortably sit through the movie & immediately deconstruct the plot to find the hidden message. Its not so hidden. My 8 year old got it spot on. |

A thoroughly entertaining movie. I found Wesley funny in that old movie "To wong foo. Thanks for everything! Julie Newmar", where he played a drag-queen. The mannerism is just the same with this movie. You should see it. |

Fast moving action flick, lots of explosions and gore. Number 3 is quite a mad man. Gave me some good laughs. And those chicks, ah! The constact flashbacks were a bit tedious sha. Love Ryan. 7.5/10 |
Romance › Re: Is It So Impossible To Forgive A Girlfriend That Cheated? by DrDax: 2:19am On Dec 12, 2019 |
Butterscotch92: I know I'm going to receive a lot of bashing here but I don't mind as I'm looking for solution. I've been following other related threads on the topic and it seems most men don't forgive women that cheated on them.
I cheated on my man. This happened over a year ago when the relationship was going through a rough patch. Actually I didn't set out to cheat and never planned it.
In fact the person it happened with was a person I was confiding in when I was trying to get solutions to my relationship issues.
This person was my married colleague that I joined to work in his car. I thought I could get mature advice by telling him. I was weak and emotionally down and on one of such days of crying to him it happened in his car.
It happened like 3 more times because I go to work with him and come back with him. But I was overcome with guilt (because he was married and for cheating) that I had to stop. But my mistake was that I didn't cut him off completely.
I remained cordial friends with him since he is a colleague and I stopped joining his car. He also moved to another branch. He called occasionally to try his luck but I never gave in. Somehow my man became suspicious by his calls and one thing led to the other and I had to confess.
My man said he has forgiven but can't get back together again. I have been following other threads with similar topics and I saw that men find it very hard to forgive a woman that once cheated. In this case I'm truly sorry, I have learnt my lessons and I can never make that kind of mistake again. I don't love the man in question, I never wanted anything from him apart from advice from the onset, I stopped on my own, I only remained friends because he was my colleague. I love my man and will do anything to keep him and win his trust back. I'm not a cheat by nature.
I'm heartbroken and filled with guilt and regret. I can't talk to anyone in my circle for fear of condemnation because I'm wrong in every area.
Please is there any hope for me? How do I go about winning him back? How do I convince him that I truly regret my actions? How do I help him heal? Please forget him and stop being so emotionally needy. Start a new journey on a clean slate. But my best advise to you would be to LEARN TO ENJOY YOUR OWN COMPANY. That is the foundation of self-respect. |

toluxe0075: Please, what is the point of the whole Once upon a time in Hollywood movie? QT fall my hand for this film ooo. Asides the cinematography, cool music and great acting from Capri and Pitt, nothing else was ticking for me. To add to my frustration, Margot Robbie decided to take a pointless role where she practically did nothing. Anyways, maybe The reason I didn't feel the movie was because I had no idea about the Hollywood culture. Nevertheless, it was still pointless. 10/10 please. Chronicles the fears of an actor to remain relevant in the industry. Sheds some light on the lifestyle and people in tinsel town. It is a masterpiece. And I love the Bruce Lee beating. Rumour has it that he was a pompous a.s.s in reality. Good movie. |

And they're now autonomous because there's lack of adequate funding by the government. Intellectuals are supposed to be REASONABLE people, but not in ASUU's case. When the universities become autonomous then they can come back to the negotiation table. Until then...... IPPIS it is. |
