Cool! During the subsidy protest of 2012, kerosene was scarce too and I was doing my NYSC in Cross River state. I had to gather firewood one morning and started cooking cos I could not find kerosene to buy.

Same day, all the corpers in the lodge joined me in using the firewood. I equally discovered where we got plenty of cocoyam, ogbono seeds, banana, plantain and hot leaves all from the bush nearby. Every morning, the other corpers joined me and we explored our environment and it helped us to conserve money and eat some delicacies that hitherto many of them did not know including tapioca.

Sometimes in the midst of want and necessity, the explorative spirit in us comes to fore and as they say, "necessity na the mama of invention"

Wow! Had similar experience. Mine's been dead 16 years now and it was just last year I stopped seeing her. She would cook for me and set the table and once I was about to eat the meal, I would wake up. I never ate her meal but I always saw her in my dreams.

There are hawkers everywhere abroad, they are called sales men. Many of them don't carry goods on the head and run after traffic. Much as it is a laudable idea if there is arrangement to keep them off the streets and engaged in something useful, it will be much better because if all these guys enter street to do evil, that one be say the gobe don dey go Mowe.

But the truth remains that if these hawkers are put off the street, Lagos will lose a part of its 'flavour' and identity and also, pple fit dey die from thirst and hunger when stuck in traffic.

I am a Nigerian; I know there are two sides to a story and I do not hate policemen either cos I tried joining some years ago. Do you think its possible for a soldier to open fire on the vehicle if they stopped? Do you think the soldier would have stayed after he realised he had shot the wrong people? Some things cannot be explained but we must be security conscious at all times.

Reckless behaviour. The policemen should have known better than to stop when flagged down by the soldiers. The level of insecurity in the country now calls for a high level of discipline and carefulness to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.

Even as a civillian, if I am on patrol or security duty and I flag a person or vehicle down and they refuses and I have a gun, I will fire them right away.

On a serious note, given that poverty is rife and unemployment rate leaves much to be desired, robbery of any form is a no-no. Instead of stealing, engage in something no matter how small.

After my NYSC, I needed money very badly to attend a burial but none was forth-coming so I had no option than to go to a building site, offered my services and made some money. I had some bad guys who were into crime and making cool cash but I passed. Some of them now are on the run and some are in.

Bottom line: crime does not pay; you will get caught someday.
