What are the modalities of this so called war against indiscipline . . . .If it involves reckless harassment of citizens by the security forces ala 1984 then it is DOA . . . . .

If it is going to involve a more subtle social crusade in terms of jingles and strengthening of our institutions to carry our their statutory functions devoid of interference from any fool's body language . . . . then am in full support of it . . . . . .
Has anyone asked for your support?

Don't be deceived, EFCC is acting on a script given to them. Who was there when he return the money? who is in possession of the money? Show us evidence of the money being returned before I believe you
To prove them wrong, just ask Mettuh to return 60 or 70% of his own share and let's see if he will be released or not.

You may need to re-read my post again without self-inflicted prejudice.
Why release a man who stole public funds because he returned some & promised to return the rest?
Punitive measures, are they not supposed to punish offenders & deter others?
What does our laws say on arrested criminal offenders, if not to arraign them for prosecution?
And where in any of my post have you seen me call prosecution of any politician, Dasuki inclusive "a witch-hunt"?.
And is actions like this not making people assume it's a witch-hunt?
The real offender in this DasukiGate is Dasuki. The recipients didn't know the source of the fund and as such it should be enough for them to return whatever they got haven known the fact. Anyone who remains stubborn in returning his own share is the thief who needs to be prosecuted.

The bottom line is: who won the election,PDP or APC?
You don't understand that election outcome of just eight local govts of Bayelsa cannot be used to determine the one of Rivers with 23 LGAs.

APC is more entrenched in Rivers than in Bayelsa. It's an undeniable fact.

@topic, this is a nice development. It worked then and it will work now. Just as it was then that only corrupt and undisciplined people were against it, we should expect that ONLY same set of people will be against it now.

In case you are not aware, there is a hate factor around the Judas of ubima and the time is now to pay him in the same coin. Zombies stay away oh.
Remind me of the presidential election result in Bayelsa state, compare it to that of this gubernatorial election, perhaps it tells you something differently from what you're thinking.

Last presidential election (2015) - PDP 361,209 APC-5,194
2016 gubernatorial - PDP 134,000+ APC - 86,000+

Smell the coffee and you will understand that results cannot be written in SS/SE as was the case in the presidential election.
Politics › Re: Dickson's Re-election, A Clear Warning To The Dark Force's --gov. Wike by DropShot: 8:18am On Jan 11, 2016
If anything, APC's showing in Bayelsa should worry Wike and PDP in Rivers. APC is far more entrenched in Rivers and it is far bigger than Bayelsa. GEJ factor in Bayelsa is far less a factor in Rivers where Amaechi has gotten the upper hand over all his enemies.

I really expect APC to win Rivers by a wide margin.
Politics › Re: Nigeria Will Not Be The Same If Anything Happen To Nnamdi Kanu – IPOB by DropShot: 8:12am On Jan 11, 2016
Just like "Nigeria will burn if GEJ lose the election". It's ten months since GEJ lost the election and PMB is going on with his government unperturbed.

Just as "Nigeria will be destroyed if Kanu is arrested". Its two months plus and nothing has happened.

Just like "Release NK within 3 days or else we crash Nigeria". Kanu is still eating watery beans in prison even after several weeks of the ultimatum.

The earlier these chest beaters understand that PMB is not GEJ who will abandon governance because of some ultimatum from militants or any groups, the better for them that they acquire needed wisdom. PMB has seen real wars and faced "death" many times. Your threats will not move him a bit.

Better start to beg him secretly and openly. If not, Kanu will start to swear for you guys for compounding his problem. grin grin

The moment Amaechi rubbished the Wike White paper of the so called indictment during his ministerial screening by bringing the panel's report and challenging his detractors to prove with it that he was indeed found guilty, I knew Wike doctored the white paper.

Also, the fact that over five months have passed since and no court prosecution of Amaechi or RSG submitting the report to EFCC for taking necessary action, I know it was all nonsense.

Unfortunately, wailers have no common sense.

4Play:
The claim that 240bn Naira would have been generated from those banned items is not a fact but an opinion or a hypothetical. Facts matter more than hypotheticals. How is the 240bn Naira even arrived at?

If you are going to use hypotheticals, have you pondered the implication of policy incoherence which your acceptance of the Cusoms boss views entail? The CBN, with the blessing of the FG, banned the import of 41 items to preserve Naira value as it concluded that failing this, it would cause a collapse of Naira and grave economic hardship. If that position is right, then it is inconceivable we would be able to afford to import as many products as we have so far with the ban in place. The implication would have been lesser import duties.

Has anyone also considered the implications of currency depreciation and inflation in judging these nominal amounts? 970bn Naira in 2014 is not the equivalent of 970bn Naira in 2015.
Based on historical facts of what was generated by those 41 items in the past, what was "lost" due to the ban on those items could be estimated. I don't expect anyone to argue against that position.

To improve income from Customs will not necessarily be from increase in the size of our imports. Blocking porous channels, improving efficiency as well as full implementation of TSA will do that.

Bringing time value of money to this discussion is out of point and will unnecessarily complicate the debate.

977 billion Naira in 2014 and 903 billion Naira in 2015. Revenues have clearly dropped and this fits in with my long-running theme that there is little evidence that revenue collection is improving now we are suppossedly in or moving towards a zero-corruption era.
Have you considered that 41 items have resulted in loss of over N200bn in 2015?

If that fact is taken into consideration, the customs has done better in 2015 than in 2014 and we should expect even better performance in 2016.

It would be nice to know what was collected during the same period of time under his predecessor. ..
It was N977bn in 2014. However, we have to factor the fact that 41 items were banned since August of this year which the NCS says has cost them over N200bn in revenue.

I believe NCS will bring in more than N1tn in 2016. Fingers crossed.

NA wa o! So, PDP/GEJ practically shared our common wealth among a previledged few and they expect us to forget about it?

Where was the moral principle of Falae, Ladoja and other leaders who collected this blood money?

If GEJ was a good candidate, why did you have to collect money to offer your support?

These people are the primary reasons Nigeria is where it is. Unfortunately, the "leaders of tomorrow" have proved to be worse than them.

In a sane society, the youths will demand public execution of these shameless leaders who mortgaged their future for selfish ends. But in Nigeria, it's the same youths whose future and that of their unborn children have been sold off by these people that still defend them with narrative such as "ït's political witch-hunt", "it's fight to silence opposition", "it's a means to fight his perceived enemies" when attempt is made to bring the wicked to justice.

Btw, SDP has come out to say that Falae declared only N5m while the shameless old man poketed N95M. And he had the effontery to lament his kidnapping? Who else should be kidnapped if not people like Falae and Ladoja?

naijaboy756:
other things you said didn't make sense but the last question you asked sounded nice. The answer is this.. Fighting corruption is good. The problem here is that Buhari is punishing his enemies with the fight against corruption as a cover. If not, why is the fight selectivehuh Until you involves Aragbesola,Amaechi, Tinubu, Fashola etc, then you are not a genuine fighter!!! I say it now that APC is killing 3 birds with a stone. Fighting political enemies, eliminating opposition and diverting the attention of Nigerians to hide their cluelessness about governance. All in the name of *paitin kwarapcion*. Time will tell
The fight against corruption will always be selective. It will only be targetted at those who corruptly enriched themselves while in position of trust and not at those who didn't. So, in that sense, it has to be selective.

Save us the overused narrative of punishing enemies, it's not working!

If you have any case against those names you mentioned, take them to ourt or reveal their specific offences. Mere saying they're corrupt will not suffice.

Btw, you still failed to answer the only question that made sense to you.

Nigerians standing with Buhari are more than those against him. So, save us the preaching.
Politics › Re: Is Buhari Fighting Corruption Or His Political Enemies? by DropShot: 6:51am On Jan 09, 2016
This epistle is needless.

The question is: Has any of those arrested so far denied receiving arms money from Dasuki? The answer is NO. They only claim to have carried out some form of task to justify receiving the blood money. Let them prove their case in court.

Is the OP suggesting that for Buhari to prove he's fighting corruption he must bring all past corrupt people to justice at the same time? It is not possible and it will not happen. It is the president that will choose how he fights the corruption war and if you're caught in the web and you think because you belong in opposition, it will be a good defence to let you be, you're joking.

If PDP had fought corruption of the then opposition APC, we would have gone father than this in the fight against corruption. But instead of doing that, the party shamelessly and senselessly looted whatever was in our treasury.

Lastly OP, would you have preferred PMB allows those looters go scot free while he and his team engage on their own looting spree and exit after four/eight years as usual?

Buhari campaigned on three fundamental promises:
1. Fighting corruption
2. Fighting insurgency
3. Improving the economy.

So, should he have left bringing those looters to justice just so that people like you don't cry? Besides, about two three months back, you guys were mocking him saying he's balless; he couldn't arrest anyone; he's not bold; bla bla bla! So, what has changed now?
