Hello All,
I have to create this account for anonymous purpose because some of my colleagues are on NL. Here is my situation:

I just got a permanent job in Lagos with N4.8m/annum ( i had to relocate from where i was working before i resigned), i have been working in this environment for a little more than a month, i enjoy the environment, the people are friendly and willing to share knowledge and information, my 2 major issue with this office is their exit policy which got me scared and thinking of leaving before long.

I got another offer in another location where my family is based (iam married) for N6m/ per annum (net) through one of my former boss, he is putting pressure on me to accept the offer (he likes me alot while i was working with him), my issue with this job it, its a CONTRACT job (2 years and renewable) with a government parastatal, though he said they are most likely going to convert to permanent before the end of the 2 years.

Though i have not done contract job before, im kind of confused about it, and then the security of the job, etc. But the money/offer is tempting.
I just want your advise based on people with experience with contract jobs.

if fuel price goes up because of current exchange rate, then we are in really big trouble, cos if they increase price of fuel today and the marketers wants to import tomorrow and decides to source for their forex from BDC again, that will increase the present exchange rate again, because they will buy millions of dollar and since it's scarce to find, the rate will increase, and this is how it will continue to be till $1= 1000 naira and 1 liter of fuel is 900 naira.

Wow. So let me get this straight. I might be wrong but capitalism is when factors of production is owned by private individuals. I might also be wrong, but I believe Nigeria is running a mixed economy and private individuals own majority of the factors of production. Are u telling me that we are In recession because buhari wants to turn our economy into a socialist economy? Seriously? I wasn't born 1983 so I don't know what happened then but this excuse of yours is just sickening. So you mean to say the falling oil price can't drive us into recession? What even determines exchange rate? Let me tell u. Supply and demand of our currency. The higher the demand for the naira, the stronger it would be. With the falling oil price and since oil is the only things we export, demand for our currency has dropped. This has made imports relatively more expensive and so demand for dollars high. What we are suffering is imported inflation because we import everything we consume. This can't be solved by spending our way out of it because that will only mask the problem. The only way to solve this is diversification and it takes time. I don't even want to go into corruption of past governments because that has been over flogged. U can get a quick solution now, that is government releasing money and we spending our way out of recession, but do u know what? We will still import everything and we will still have the same problem in the future. Or we can take the long hard solution which is diversification and start to export products we have comparative advantage in thereby strengthening our naira. This is the route this government has taken. I might not be too smart, but I think this is a better explanation than your socialism one. Cheers

It has been predicted that Nigeria may experience economic difficulties in 2016. I want economist in the house to pls come in and recommend what the poor and an average man can do to survive. Bellow is my recommendation:

(1) If you are an entrepreneur, invest in the area of basic need. E.g food, shelter, transportation, etc. Reduce ur investment in the areas of luxury goods. Even our big men will be affected because their dependency ratio will increase as a result of high unemployment rate. So if your job is still intact, don't re joys because many is going to depend on u to survive.

(2) Pay attention to DIY which means ''do it yourself'' you must not buy everything. You can provide some of ur basic need by urself. Do u know with little or no money you can provide for urself an orchard where u can have vegetable farm in your yard, do u know you can provide ur chicken, and so on. Before u buy any product or services, ask urself can I provide it for myself considering time and cost. My advice: do not buy what u can provide for yourself.

(3)Learn from the ant. It is know that the ant save during the dry season to eat during the rainy season. Reduce your spending. Pay more attention to ur basic need. Now is the best time to bring out pain and paper. Write down what u thing you need next year. Don't be carried away by Christmas song. Store or make a provision for food first, next is house rent but if u can pack in in your uncompleted building with little additional cost, pls do. Budget for ur transportation. If you have a private car, u can pick while going to work and when coming back to reduce your monthly fuel and maintenance cost, but do it wisely. Consider families and friend who will likely depend on u. Off ur appliances when u are not using them to reduce the cost of nepa bill, cut down your spending like partying and drinking.

(2) Start a home business with what u have: u can sell through ur window. If u have a home use deep freezer, load it with either iced block, cold drink, pure water, or even chicken and turkey, the profit can at least pay ur nepa bill. As earlier said, if u have a private car, pick to reduce monthly fuel and maintenance cost. If u ar unemployed or u are sacked from job, pls just inter ur house now. Look around. What do u see? Think about how you can convert ur property to business tools or equipment. U can use ur generator to charge phone for people in the night while it will still serve ur house. Ur can us ur television to start a game house, ur laptop can do online business, even ur phone is an assets.

(1) I may be wrong but I thing anything export is the best for now. Either good or service can be exported. Any business u do that u ar paid in dollar is the best for now. I think is this the little I have to offer. Note: there is also possibility of national crises in some state like kaduna. So u also need to make financial and security provision for that. Pls u can add ur own. It is not going to be easy, but God will see us through.

you guys really need to learn how to read and understand before rushing to comment. Tambuwal just called for fiscal federalism that will put more of the oil revenue into the pockets of oil producing states and you are here abusing him. Do you even know the difference between geographical restructuring and fiscal restructuring? Niger Delta states are calling for fiscal federalism and Tambuwal just supported that call, still, you are ignorantly calling him an illiterate. Are you not the illiterate here?
