This shameless Mayaki guy was a journalist before he was appointed Chief Press Secretary to Obaseki.

A friend told me that the reason why some of them behave the way Mayaki is currently behaving is because, while in government, they had acquired 'a taste for greed/unreal lifestyle' (free money, a retinue of aides, access to contractors who pay bribes, etc, etc), which they cannot maintain when they are out of office!

The simple advice for any professional who got appointed to any office in government is to ensure that their "first address" (their initial professional calling) remains intact and also refuse to acquire any 'taste for greed'!

In fact, some Benin people told me that Obaseki's open and undisguised disrespect for (and humiliation of) the Oba of Benin was the MAJOR reason they voted APC!

Besides, when Atiku and others ruined PDP in 2014-2015 and defected to APC, which was the beginning of the death of PDP, it was this same Nyesom Wike that funded PDP and enabled it to stand.

Unless PDP solves the 'Atiku problem', the party would continue to go from one crisis to another.

N20,000 is a monthly stipend. For anyone who is indigent, especially in the hinterland, a financial support of N20,000, every month, is a big deal! I worked in retail banking in the past, I know a few things about some challenges we (who live in the major cities- Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Kano, Kaduna) see as 'small'. I know men (husbands, fathers, uncles, etc), in certain parts of Nigeria, who have never held as small as N5,000, in bulk, in their hands, in their entire lives, some as old as 60 years of age!

In addition to this monthly stipend, the Federal Government, through NELFUND, pays the TUITION FEES DIRECTLY into the accounts of the higher institutions, on behalf of the indigent applicants. This is a big deal!

It is not every time we should criticize Tinubu/FG. He did well with this one!

Good deal? Did you know the salary of a University lecturer in 1983? How old are you? LOL! In that year, in 1983, more than half of Nigeria's population could not afford the N200 bag of beans you termed "good deal"!

Truth is, from at least under Gowon's profligate (wasteful) regime, where salaries of workers were arbitrarily increased and backdated (even when Chief Jerome Udoji, the Chairman of the Wage Review Committee, did NOT recommend any back-dating), inflation in Nigeria started a flight and our country never remained the same!

It was after this stupid salary increase by General Yakubu Gowon, that the average Nigerian started buying tonnes of foreign goods and our taste for imported stuff changed! FOREVER!

The items this current generation thought were cheap (because they used current prices to compare) were NEVER CHEAP! Just as it is today, majority of the population could not afford those items!

When an uncle bought an Opel Record card for about N300, he was the ONLY ONE who had that car in the entire city he lived at that time!

When school fees were less than N100 per term, majority could still not afford it.

If Canadians and citizens of those countries our young persons run to had fled their own countries, would they be able to run to those countries now? NIGERIANS MUST DEVELOP NIGERIA!

Nigeria needs a reset!

Peter Obi, a former Chairman of a commercial bank (Fidelity Bank) has just spoken like an illiterate idiot!

First, any current or former banker; or anyone who knew anything about banking would have known that Heritage Bank had long been on "intensive care unit (ICU)" in terms of bad loans (poor asset quality) and very weak liquidity since 2017 and only CBN had been "managing" its financial health, which for all intents and purposes, was irredeemably bad!

Second, CBN or NDIC could NEVER have paid depositors 100% of their funds, no matter the emotional nonsense Peter Obi wrote here; because, by law, NDIC can only pay a maximum of N5 million per depositor. It is so clear in the NIDIC Act. In fact, the figure was much lower, until a few months ago, when the National Assembly passed an amendment to the NDIC Act, and increased the threshold payable.

How could Peter Obi make this stupid statement, all in a bid to make the Federal Government bad, and tantalize the illiterate wing of his Obidient crowd?

This is so disappointing, coming from Peter Obi, who should know!

Kudos to Governor Dapo Abiodun. Anyone familiar with that route would agree that this is a road with HUGE IMPACT. The Governor might have been docile in his 1st term; but he seemed to have woken up in his 2nd (final) term.

When they do well, we will praise them; when they do not do well, we will rebuke them- that is the way it should be!

Okezie Ikpeazu, the immediate past Governor of Abia State, a PhD. holder, did absolutely nothing but shared free kerosene to Abia people, before the 2019 election and he was re-elected! How dumb could a people be? They kept voting PDP based on pure sentiments, even when other parties presented far better candidates.

It was the same pattern of sentiment that most South-East states continued to vote PDP...Now, they are apologising for a wasted period of 24 years! A whole 24 years!

Thank God that Dr. Alex Otti, a proven banking czar, and a man with the fear of God, is Governor of Abia State. The glory of that beloved state of entrepreneurs would rise again, under Alex Otti!

Anyone who had any of secondary school or University education in the North would attest to the futility of this nonsense from the elitist group called Northern Elders Forum.

These are some of their complaints/bases for their anger:

1. How dare Tinubu appoint a South-South Christian as FCT Minister (the elite see the FCT Minister position, both during the military and civilian governments as their birthright). Before you shout about bias, I am a Muslim. Being Nigeria's capital, Wike has gone ahead to appoint top officials from ALL parts of Nigeria, a thing that was strange before now!!! He recently appointed a woman from Rivers State, a Professor, as MD of Abuja Investment Company Limited (AICL). It had NEVER happened before. We, almost 90% of the time, had male, Northern Muslims as MD of AICL. The only time a Yoruba man was MD of AICL, he was the son-in-law of Abubakar Atiku. His name is Tolani.

2. Spread of national appointments: Tinubu's FG has demystified certain assumptions that says that certain positions MUST go to the North. A particular person wondered how a non-Northerner was appointed Director of Banking Supervision (DBSD) at CBN after the Northerner Yemi Cardoso met their was redeployed to another department! Imagine the daft entitlement mentality! The current Acting DBSD is a PhD holder.

3. Stoppage of CBN's Anchor Borrowers' Programme: This was a well-known conduit for absolute corruption, which former CBN Governor, Emefiele, allowed the Northwrn elite to enjoy, without paying back, because he wanted their support for his dead Presidential ambition!

4. Stoppage of under-the-table payment to some "core Northern stakeholders", through MDAs and certain "cash-awash agencies". The list of those "stakeholders" is long!

5. The general feeling that Tinubu's FG seemed to be empowering Southern Nigeria with power, as opposed to the lazy enjoyment of the Northern elite regarding power.

6. Bureau de Change (BDC) Licensing: The elites of the North see BDC licence as their special national cake. They are angry that the current CBN Governor has clipped the wings of BDCs, who are well-known as the conduit for attack on our exchange rate to the US Dollar.

There are MANY other reasons I cannot share here. Please note that in ALL OF THESE, THE ANGER OF NEF WAS NOT ABOUT THE MASSES IN THE NORTH, BUT THEIR OWN POCKETS!!!
