I have read some very simplistic analyses of the Kogi election, largely by people who do not have any knowledge about the undercurrents, beyond whatever they read in the newspapers! APC's Ododo WILL LIKELY WIN THE ELECTION, on the following bases: 1. Yahaya Bello, the smart politician that he is, picked an Igala man, who is also the current Chairman of Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) as Ododo's running mate. The man he chose is well loved by teachers and civil servants and anyone who knows Kogi State well enough would know that the decision was a political master-stroke! 2. APC also deliberately picked someone from the Central Senatorial District, Ododo, as candidate, with a view to guaranteeing an uninterrupted 16-year tenure for that District, because should it go to Kogi East in November 2023, other two Senatorial Districts might not get near Lugard House in the next 50 years! 3. Leke Abejide, the House of Representative member representing a large chunk of Okun (Yoruba-speaking) part of Kogi State, has won his elections back-to-back on the ticket of a small party called ADC. His philanthropic gestures, including purchase of SUVs for almost ALL graded traditional rulers in his Federal Constituency, scholarships, free school buses, etc, etc had endeared him to many Kogites, especially in the Yoruba-speaking areas. He will take significant votes from Dino's so-called vote bank! 4. Every other major party picked an Igala man or woman (in Dino's case) as running mate. This would mean that this disunity among the Igala would lead to needless share of votes among the major parties, which favours APC. 5. Muritala Ajaka of SDP, an Igala man, would, ordinarily have been a formidable opponent of Ododo's APC. However, feelers out there suggest that his Igala peeple have NOT queued behind him because of the many running mates across other parties. The consensus meeting that was convened by Igala elites failed to endorse Ajaka; hence every candidate was told to go and test their popularity at the polls. This is a disadvantage to Ajaka. 6. I read the very simplistic opinion, where one Nairalander, simply allocated votes to each candidate on the basis of their local governments; hence awarding Ajaka victory! Politicis do not go that way! In Kwara State's 2023 Governorship election, PDP's candidate, Yaman Abdullahi, LOST ALL HIS ENTIRE SENATORIAL DISTRICT, INCLUDING HIS HOME TOWN AND HOME LOCAL GOVERNMENT! His own people- from Kwara North- voted an Ilorin man, the current Governor. Politics is about negotiation and deal-making; it is not necessarily clear-cut for tribal games. 7. Yahaya Bello's decision to build a magnificent church in Government House (Lugard House) has been a game-changer regarding his hold on Kogi politics. Only yesterday, the CAN Chairman of Kogi State, publicly held a press conference, with ALL members of Kogi CAN Executive Committee, and said that they will vote APC's Ododo, because they preferred continuity and because Yahaya Bello was not only the first Governor to build a church in Government House, a thing he accused ALL former Governors, who were Igalals, of refusing to do; he also said that it was under Yahaya Bello that Christians have had the highest number of Jerusalem pilgrims sponsored by Kogi State Government. Owing to the fact that political choices are NOT ALWAYS RATIONAL, religion takes a major place in Nigerian elections. 8. Being an off-season election, the odds favour APC's Ododo, who would ride on the back of a very tough politician, Yahaya Bello. in terms of logistics, funding, mobilization, etc. Only yesterday, ALL Zonal and Local Government chairmen of Ajaka's SDP defected to APC. |
Didi2d:You are IGNORANT!!! No such thing exists. Bukola Saraki and many other politicians, including Chimaroke Nnamani, Chris Ngige, with dual citizenship, once declared, won such cases in court. The obviously ignorant witness even showed her crass naivety when cross-examined by Hamzat's counsel. This is dead on arrival. It's a senseless case. . |
samonak:There is...Please check again. One is from Enugu, Enugu State; and the other is from Obudu, Cross River State. |
successfulaboki:You and your family are in serious trouble, not my own country, Nigeria! You vain lot are always cursing and wishing your country bad! Are you so evil and daft? |
Almost 6 hours after this thread was opened, it had extended to only 4 pages, ONLY because the Governor of Taraba State, who committed this obvious fraud is a PDP Governor! If it was an APC Governor that did this, children of hate, dunderheads, clowns with 'sawdust brains', supporters of PDP (and their side chicks, Labour Party supporters) would have shouted consistently and the thread would have reached 20! And to those who wrote that the incoming Governor would probe this fraud or take up the outgoing Governor, have you forgotten that the outgoing thief (Governor Darius Ishaku) imposed the incoming thief (incoming Governor Kefas Kigbu) on Taraba State! It's like asking Fubara to probe Wike in Rivers State, or Eno Umo to probe Udom Emmanuel in Akwa-Ibom, or Sen. Otu to probe Ayade in Cross River, or Bago to probe Bello of Niger State, etc, etc. Hypocrites! |
Now, I know that Peter Obi is an idiot! It is known to even the dumbest newspaper reader in Nigeria that INEC DEFENDS EVERY ELECTION RESULT IT DECLARED, since 1999! One didn't need to be a Law student to know this simpe fact! The same INEC is defending ALL the elections it had declared, including those of Peter Obi's LABOUR PARTY, PDP, APGA, SDP, ADC, etc, AGAINST petitions by APC and its candidates!!! As recently as March, INEC DEFENDED Governor Adeleke of OSUN STATE- a PDP Governor! It has nothing to do with any ruling party. How Peter Obi labelled INEC's defence of Tinubu at the Tribunal as partisanship (and forgetting its role as an umpire) is beyond stupidity! It is ludicrous!!! |
Brighton's wastefulness and Kepa Arizabalaga's heroic saves are the two reasons Brighton are not leading 7-1 already... I hope Brighton won't regret these many wasted chances in the end... Chelsea is gone! Limp. Tame. Weak. Hopeless. What a pity. |
These daft clowns at NLC have just woken up after so much pains, after many had died (remember the pregnant woman in Kano who died because the doctor couldn't start birth procedure until he got bank credit alert and the old Ibadan journalist who died while trekking for a very long distance owing to lack of cash?)! And they gave a rather long 7-day ultimatum! Why not just 2-3 days? Any legacy Buhari had before now had even obliterated by the twin evil of fuel scarcity and "cash confiscation" policy. Nigerians couldn't access their own money- not gifts!!! May God reward Buhari and Emefiele accordingly! |
Fear Nigerian politicians! Her husband, Babagana Kingibe, is Buhari and Tinubu's very, very close friend! Elites are one and the same. It's a class thing! And Nigerians continue to kill one another for politicians! |
dre11:Idiot! You are working in cahoots with Atiku, a die-hard Muslim. You dine and wine with many Muslim friends in PDP, but when Labour Party and APC defeated your handpicked candidates, you started spewing rubbish about Aso Rock Chapel! Few politicians will see God's favour! Only the gullible would believe this clown! |
"Worst election"? Worse than the one his beloved PDP conducted, under President Obasanjo when he (Atiku) was Vice President, in 2007; where ballot papers were being printed in South Africa, BUT results were already being announced by Prof. Maurice Iwu of INEC? Till today, the ONLY Nigerian Presidential election that had NO SINGLE RECORD OF ANY FIGURE, in the history of our country, since 1979, was the 2007 Presidential election!!! We forget too easily in this country! Atiku is talking about "worst election"! Amazing oxymoron! 🤣🤣🤣 |
How did Peter Obi's Labour Party expect to have won the election WITHOUT a strong presence in the heart of Hausa, Fulani and Kanuri of North West and North East? How? The constitutional requirement for the Presidency is that a candidate must win 25% of votes in 24 states! Even if ALL the entire 17 states of Southern Nigeria, including if Yorubas of South-West abandoned their son, Tinubu, Obi could NOT still have won! Let us be honest. The greatest mistake PDP (and I dare say Atiku and Ayu) made was to have allowed BOTH Peter Obi and Kwankwaso to defect from PDP to Labour Party and NNPP respectively! They divided PDP's traditional votes! In an election where so many heavyweights and long-term "political principalities" lost their elections, some idiots still claimed rigging! HOW?? |
abiolag:Nigeria is NOT a joke! The Electoral Act is clear! NNPP's so-called replacement of Shekarau with another candidate was too late; and Shekarau benefited from the lacuna. The law is the law! |
Yaribanzaonic:You are very ignorant and shamelessly confused! When did The Punch and The Tribune, well-know PDP supporters, become "Agbado Newspapers"? Those two newspapers hate Tinubu and APC so much; yet, you falsely claimed that they support him and his party! You probably have no money to read those two newspapers and their agenda since 2015! |
Truthisunique2:Idiot! Is Ondo, where the first riot occurred a PDP state? Is Kwara, where riots broke today, a PDP state? These are APC states... Some of you are damn too daft and unintelligent at the same time! Nigerians have been pushed to the wall by a useless CBN Governor who bungled a good policy via a failed execution. People cannot feed due to lack of access to their own money in the banks and you linked riots with Tinubu and APC! How stupid could some of you get? Tinubu will win the Presidential election and there is nothing nincompoops like you can do about it! It's only 10 days away! |
F117nighthawk:You do not know Femi Gbajabiamila and you do not live in Surulere! This is NOT election gimmick. He had always done this and many more, all year round. Facts are sacred, opinions are what they are- opinions! FEMI GBAJABIAMILA IS THE BEST HOUSE OF REPS MEMBER EVER TO REPRESENT SURULERE 1 IN THE HISTORY OF THAT FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY! Ask some of us who live there... Ask those who lived there before Femi was elected. Femi's impact has been beyond phenomenal; it will take me many pages to explain them... |
Malory:Idiot! Col. AbdulAzeez Yar'Adua is one of the three APC Senatorial candidates for Katsina State, in the upcoming 2023 elections. He has always been a very committed APC member, even when he lost the same APC senatorial ticket in 2019. Must you idiots insult everyone who support incoming President Bola Tinubu, just because we refused to support your "lying machine", who is bound to end in 3rd or 4th position, Peter Obi? Get a life, nincompoop! |
Bola Tinubu and the Yar'Adua family have had a long-term relationship. Tinubu, together with the likes of Abubakar Atiku, Dapo Sarumi, late Femi Agbalajobi, Yomi Edu, learnt politics under the tutelage of late General Shehu Yar'Adua's PDM, long before IBB 'decreed' the two parties (NRC and SDP) into existence in 1992... Today, Yar'Adua's younger brother, Col. Abdul-Azeez Yar'Adua, is the APC Senatorial candidate in one of the senatorial districts in Katsina for the February 2023 elections . This is home-coming for Tinubu- no issues/drama about it... |
These idiotic polls are an anathema to reasoning! How could you conduct a poll of only 3,000 respondents, knowing that the voter population, according to INEC, is over 93 million? Even if we discount the actual voting population by as much as 50%, that still gives about 47 million voters; so, how could a very, very insignificant sample size, of 0.00000000000000001% represent anything that made sense? Aside the very, very low sample size of only 3,000 people, the outcomes are insane! Regions are being given to Peter Obi like toys being given to a child. Majority of the projections do not make sense. Pathetic. It is disappointing that Patrick Okigbo, my friend and a cerebral guy, allowed the name of his firm Nextier, to be used for this funny, wishy-washy hatchet job on behalf of certain politicians! |
frankson1:David Moyes qualified modest Everton for Europa League. Ole took Molde, in his native country, to Europa League too. Where has Graham Potter EVER TAKEN ANY CLUB? No where! From the foregoing, there is no basis for you to compare hiring David Moyes and Ole to Graham Potter's appointment... |
Buddha3:I wrote, here, a few weeks ago, that how Chelsea, an illustrious British club, hired Graham Potter, a mediocre manager, who had NEVER WON ANYTHING (NOT EVEN A SPOON!!!) in his career, was surprising; but so many Chelsea fans insulted me to no end... How could you hire Graham Potter, a mid-to-lower-table Manager, whose best career height was manager of lowly Brighton, and expect wonderful results? Would equally big clubs, such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City hire managers in the mold of Sam Alardyce, Sean Dyche, Tony Pulis, Alan Pardew, Steve Cooper, etc, etc, and win anything or play beautiful football? |
Says Daily Independent, a newspaper owned by corrupt ex-convict James Ibori...This report is 100% speculation. Nigerian newspapers practise too much "cash-and-carry" journalism! The so-called Northern Elders Forum (NEF) members who said this fake nonsense were not mentioned. The newspaper hid under "reliable sources", the convenient euphemism for covering "fake news"! Believe this thrash that was planted by Atiku's people; and you could believe anything! |
Say what you may, this was an improved Arsenal side, having played in this manner, away, at City's Etihad Stadium. Arsenal started the game with 5 non-starters- Turner, Tomiyasu, Holding, Vieira, and Trossard; yet played 0-0 with Man City throughout the first half, whereas Man City started with their strong first 11, except their goal keeper. The single goal Man City scored was from a defensive error, and it took a defender, Ake, to score the lone goal. Haaland was completely marked out. In years past, Man City could have won this game 4-0, 5-0. On this basis, should Arsenal start their first 11 in the two league games at the Emirates and Etihad, they will WIN at least one (or even two) of those games! This is a DIFFERENT ARSENAL SIDE THIS SEASON. THEY WILL WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE!!! |
Petyprince:Arsenal defeated Man City 2-0 at their Etihad Stadium, and booted them out of the FA Cup in 2021; only 2 years ago. Aubamayeng scored the two goals. |
Not surprised. Anyone who knew Naajatu Mohammed very well should be surprised that she even joined ANY political party in the first place! She was the FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT OF ABU ZARIA STUDENTS' UNION GOVERNMENT. She had always been an activist all her life. She IS LEAVING PARTY POLITICS AND SUPPORTING INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATES. THIS WAS NOT ABOUT TINUBU. |
The idiot, who was SACKED by Buhari as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) , and who was arraigned by EFCC for grand corruption, having used hundreds of millions to CUT GRASSES is no longer corrupt because he joined the camp of the impending failure called Peter Obi and Datti- Baba-Ahmed? Wonderful hypocrisy!!! |
This amorphous, anonymous contraption of failures with no address or any notable membership, is apparently a creation of Atiku Abubakar, the corrupt "SPV merchant". Hear them: “How do you want us in the North to trust someone who had in the past been calling for Resource Control and True Federalism? So, in the mind of this faceless Atiku group, who no one in the so-called North reckons with, Tinubu's fight for resource control and true federalism was a fight against the North? How could a people so much dislike progress and development? HOW? Was resource control not meant to make every region of Nigeria grow and develop on its own terms, thereby engendering competition? Is true federalism not meant to make the states stronger and Abuja more efficient? Is this not what the Niger Delta region had been fighting for, for which the great writer, Ken Saro-Wiwa was executed by Abacha's government? Is this not what discerning people, with brains, have been advocating for since a long time ago? Atiku should continue sponsoring and creating mushroom unknown "Northern groups", such as this group of clowns, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a man with well-known capacity for innovation in governance, capacity to attract talents, and capacity for taking tough decisions that would benefit the majority of citizens; will be elected Nigeria's President on February 25 2023; and sworn-in as Nigeria's President on May 29 2023!!! God bless Nigeria and its long-suffering people! |
Please relax and read comments made by hypocrites; people who have always loved and praised Okocha to high heavens, have now started cursing him ONLY because he said a good thing about Tinubu! Comments are being written by hateful, condemnable, rabble-rousing hypocrites. Jay Jay Okocha's honest testimony is true for many people who left our home states to live and work in Lagos. Bola Ahmed Tinubu WILL be sworn-in as Nigeria's President on May 29 2023, and there is absolutely nothing any deranged, biased, confused, tribal and religious bigot can do about it! May God bless Nigeria and her great people; and bless Nigeria's next President, Mr. Capacity, Mr. Technocrats' Finder, Mr. Innovation, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Amen! |
conyema12:Really? I laugh...Last week, I wrote how wrong it was for Chelsea, an illustrious club, to have hired a manager of lowly Brighton, who had NEVER WON ANYTHING IN HIS ENTIRE LIFE, GRAHAM POTTER, as Manager; but Chelsea fans drew daggers and attacked me viciously and defended Potter! You, Chelsea fans, should stew in your own juice! You deserved Graham Potter and his failure! You haven's started yet! Your club had WON only ONE (1) GAME OUT OF THE LAST TEN (10)! Long may it continue, until your owner is able to use his brains and sack the Potter clown. LOL! |
This takes the prize as the worst form of sycophancy I have ever read about! What? LOL! |
Governor Ugwuanyi has always been a gentleman. I noticed that he is the ONLY Governor who celebrates birthdays and achievements of leaders of ALL political parties in Nigeria in major newspapers, without recourse to political differences. I do not know whether his administration is a good one, only Enugu State people may judge him; but on being fair to all shades of politicians and opinion leaders, he scored an A grade. |
43Ronin:What did you expect? How/why did Chelsea, a whole Chelsea, hire Graham Porter, a manager that has NEVER WON ANY TROPHY IN HIS ENTIRE LIFE? How? Why? It's like Arsenal, Man Utd, or Liverpool hiring the manager of lowly Deportivo La Coruna. It was a befuddling decision to hire that Porter guy. He fooled the owners of Chelsea, with Brighton's offensive football; but they stupidly didn't think that he never won anything anywhere, even with his Brighton club! In this 1-1 game, that just ended, but for atrociously poor finishing by Forest's very poor players, and the goal post, Nottingham Forest could have easily won the game 3-1! |
Nigeria is a joke. Someone abandoned a party and party already replaced him but INEC still recognised him and declared him a winner. I can never understand naija politics
