Politics / #ENDSARS: Youths And Nigeria's Future by dtruth50: 8:30pm On Oct 22, 2020 |
In more ways than one, the Nigerian youths have spoken very loudly and clearly that never again will they remain aloof and watch the ruling class run the nation like a personal fiefdom. If for nothing, the #Endsars protest march has sent shock waves down the spines of the elites that indeed, power of the people is much more than the people in power. I'm indeed happy that the campaign to get things right in Nigeria is spearheaded by the youth population, a critical part of the nation. The youths have realized the dire need to take the driver's seat and get really involved in our quest to address the catalogue of woes bedevilling us as a people. The elites have for long taken advantage of our disinterestedness in governance and politics to perpetuate themselves and their cronies in power. We've spoken, very loudly at that, and governments across all levels have heard us and are willing to address our demands. This is a big win for us. #Way forward 1. The youths should harmonise all their demands and expectations for onward presentation and deliberation. Engagement. 2. Get a team of trusted, reliable, patriotic, capable and competent youths to present our demands and engage government on our behalf. 3. Another team of young Nigerians to monitor the activities of our reps dialoguing with government. 4. Begin the process of registering a youth-focused/based political party ahead of 2023. 5. Peg age limit and terms for membership. E.g. 40 years and below. 6. No form of alliance or partnership with any existing political party, especially the APC and PDP. 7. Don't accept financial donation or assistance from politicians. 8. Work towards retiring old politicians across all levels come 2023. 9. Watch against fifth columnists. God bless Nigeria. #MyTwocents https://web.facebook.com/abdullahi.yunusa.9?v=timeline&lst=100008198100285%3A100000506073563%3A1603394649&_rdc=1&_rdr

A twitter user with the handle @Morris_Monye have specifically demanded for 75% pay cut of their allowance. The youths have threatened to occupy the National Assembly if they fail to respond under 72 hrs. He tweeted, “Dear @DrAhmadLawan and @FemiGbaja We, the good people of Nigeria kindly ask that allowances of the National Assembly be slashed by 75%. You have 72 hrs to respond and get it slashed. Failure to do so might initiate #OccupyNASS God bless sirs. #NASSPayCutNow #EndSWAT” Netizens have expressed their anger and displeasure at the mundane things they get allowances for including newspaper, hardship, recess, etc. Sources: https://twitter.com/adekunleGOLD/status/1316201704124223488?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1316201704124223488%7Ctwgr%5Eshare_3%2Ccontainerclick_0&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.yabaleftonline.ng%2Fnasspaycutnow-trends-online-nigerians-demand-slash-lawmakers-salaries%2F https://www.yabaleftonline.ng/nasspaycutnow-trends-online-nigerians-demand-slash-lawmakers-salaries/

Health / Madagascar Sends Coronavirus "Herbal Medicine" To 15 African Countries by dtruth50: 6:05pm On May 04, 2020 |
- President Andry Rajoelina of Madagascar launched a herbal tea named COVID-Organics (CVO) on Monday, April 20 - The president claims the concoction cured COVID-19 patients - The island country had registered 135 infections of the pandemic as of Saturday, May 2, with zero deaths and 97 recoveries - The World Health Organisation (WHO), however, said there was no proof of a cure for the disease, warning against the widespread use of untested remedies Madagascar has sent its locally made COVID-19 "herbal medicine" to 15 African countries in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). President Andry Rajoelina launched the herbal tea named COVID-Organics (CVO), on Monday, April 20, claiming the concoction cured COVID-19 patients. On his Instagram page on Friday, May 1, Rajoelina said the "herbal medicine" would be availed to all coronavirus patients in all friendly countries across the African continent and around the world. "Madagascar and its African brothers are united in the response to the coronavirus. It is with honor that we send these CVO herbal teas to the 15 member countries of ECOWAS through Guinea Bissau," " Madagascar will make Tambavy CVO available to all coronavirus patients in all friendly countries in Africa, in the Indian Ocean and around the world. Madagascar had registered 135 infections of the pandemic as of Saturday, May 2, with zero deaths. Out of the total cases, 97 of them had recovered according to Worldometers, a real-time statistics website. The herbal medicine, which was developed by Malagasy Institute of Applied Research, contains Artemisia - a plant on the Island used in the fight against malaria. However, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said there was no proof of a cure for the disease, warning against the widespread use of untested remedies. Madagascar's national medical academy (Anamem) also cast doubt on the efficacy of Rajoelina's touted coronavirus remedy. Countries across the world are coming up with their own vaccines. Already some researchers at Oxford University in the UK are developing one and plan to test it in Africa. The United States (US) on the other hand approved the use of Remdesivir drug, saying a study showed it interfered with the replication of some viruses, including the SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for the current pandemic. In other news, a pregnant woman who tested positive for coronavirus in Miga local government area of Jigawa state has died. The woman, who was from Zareka ward, died at an isolation centre on Sunday, May 3. The woman's death was confirmed by a member of the state task force. The source said she had a miscarriage at the facility and bled to death. https://www.legit.ng/1326527-madagascar-sends-coronavirus-herbal-medicine-15-african-countries.html

Health / Treatment For Coronavirus Discovered, A Popular Drug Used In Nigeria by dtruth50: 6:36am On Feb 21, 2020 |
M It's been all about joyful expressions on social media this morning, most significantly on twitter since the news broke out that the anti-viral drug discovered for coronavirus is Chloroquine. Since the news broke out this morning, many have expressed their delight at the realization of the fact. It was an expert team led by an academician ( of the Chinese Academy of Engineering ) known as Zhong Nanshan who is a renowned respiratory specialist that made the discovery that Chloroquine Phosphate can be used to treat coronavirus patients. Nigerians react on twitter to the news and many shared how much experience they have had with using the drug and or it's injection before now. Those who complained about it's side effects even expressed how much they wouldn't mind to use the drug. Many always have their body itching after taking Chloroquine and some don't get freed from the side effect until they use Piriton or suffer the effect for a while. But now, irrespective of the wide effects, no one would mind using the drugs or taking the injections if need be. https://news-af.feednews.com/news/detail/1cc65c705019354a06cb90375ca1c1e3?client=news

Politics / Former Niger Commissioner, Katcha Remanded In Prison For Raining Series Of Abuse by dtruth50: 12:14am On Jan 01, 2020 |
A former Niger state Commissioner for science and technology, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Katcha has been ordered remanded in a Minna Prison pending a formal bail application. Katcha was charged to court based on a report by one Isah Lapaine to tudun wada, Minna police station, Lapiane said in a first information report that he was called on phone by Alhaji Abubakar Katcha and he (katcha) was “raining series of abuse on him over a reason better known to him” The presiding Chief Magistrate Shabafu haven denied the counsel to the accused, Mahmud Muhammad the opportunity to move an oral bail application after the accused has pleaded not quilty to the alleged offense, said the offense is ordinarily bailable and at the discretion of the court, considering section 341 of the penal code law and his counsel should come formally with a bail application. The case was then adjourned to 6th of January 2020, for further mention. It will be recalled that Alhaji Abubakar Katcha has been at logger heads with people in position of power, he was recently granted bail by a Minna Chief Magistrate court ii in petition accusing him of inciting public disturbance by his comments on Facebook saying Niger state has not fixed roads by the chief of state to the Niger state Governor Abubakar Sani Bello. Counsel to Katcha, Mahmud Muhammad esq, said “the offense is ordinarily bailable having recourse to section 341 of penal code law on the ground that the accused person was charged under section 399 of the penal code law punishable on conviction by 2 years imprisonment with option of fine” http://www.nigerwatchnewspaper.com/news/former-niger-commissioner-katcha-remanded-in-prison-for-raining-series-of-abuse/?fbclid=IwAR34zqy2-gsYh88XO8f3OjZqinvm6pxhMJaR-0oWIVRNW7Hj_V-ToxJ9Ic4
