Fact is that 80% of people who communicate on nairaland are negative minded people. Unfortunately, the number keeps increasing on a geometric progression.

They attack those who try to bring in positive perspectives to discussions. Its a Big problem. This gives credence to the prediction that Nigeria will breakup in 2015. The level of despondency, hate is so alarming.

Lets be honest for ones.

How has a senatorial position affected the man on the streets after election? No one should mention political party here; because it goes to all political parties.

yesterday, I saw solar street light credited to our senator madam at Jakande; lekki area. I don't need to state what has happened to the street lights because we all know.

Attaching much importance to the delta central senatorial elections is like trying to make a man out of a monkey.

RIP to the former DPP senator; but how did his position affect the average Isoko and Urohbo man and woman.

The ones who have refused to think will attach it to political parties

There is a systemic problem in the land and no Political party will solve it.

Can't you reason, Peter Obi brought the zoning mantra because he wanted to foist his stooge after calculating he's from the area and went on to promote the zoning mantra like a state policy. Nobody cared about zoning in Anambra before now. APGA never zoned before now. why can't you understand this simple scenario.
Are you saying that people from that zone never wanted to produce a governor for the state? you mean people from the zone don't have interest in governance? did the people from the zone object the idea? besides they would have said OK, let another person other that Obiano run for the position. but they accepted and supported him. I mean if indeed he is a stooge the people from anmbra north can replace him with another. or are you saying the zone don't have other credible persons?

Do not be deceived, every leader is interested in who succeeds him . fact. so don't tell me Obi should not be interested in who succeeds him. It's normal.

Now Some one has emerged . If you don't like him disgrace him at the polls. SIMPLE. You don't like zoning Vote for those who didn't do zoning. SIMPLE.(we all know there is zoning every where in nigeria)

Please I don't want to go back and forth on this. besides I'm not from the state.

Peace.

your comment is the one that lacked objectivity, you are not from Anambra, we don't do zoning in Anambra, every true Anambra person will identify with the article. it is not for people like you stuck in the stone age with primitive thinking to advice us.
Look, I don't do the kind of political analysis folks on this forum engage in.

You said Anambra, don't do zoning, but APGA has zoned its candidacy to the north. should that be a problem for APC? why engage in mudslinging? huh
we understand you want ngige; but some don't. any problem with that? even if ngige wins. can some one from his local government succeed him? you should know that answer.

APGA has zoned, that shouldn't be a problem for APC.

I maintain, their is no objectivity in the above write-up.sentiments aside. At least from a neutral observer.
PoliticsRe: on Zoning In Anambra state by duality(m): 6:56pm On Oct 11, 2013
No single objectivity in the write-up.

The candidates have emerged. Let the votes count. simple!

People emerge in politics based on various sentiments you either accept or you don't

I personally believe in zoning. even if ngige wins; when he is done the issue will still come up.

I'm not from anambra state. for me let the best man win.

If APGA wants to zone their candidacy why should that be a problem for others?

vote who you want, unless you feel APGA will win irrespective of their candidate.
EducationRe: ASUU Strike: A Lecturer Speaks by duality(m): 5:11pm On Oct 11, 2013
Prof femi,

Honestly, which of these sectors do you really think the govt should spend more money on Now.

- University education? (ASUU)
- Primary and secondary education?
- The power sector ?
- Health sector?
- Road infrastructure?
- Security? (Or do you like the policing in Nigeria?)
-Agriculture?

Do you think these areas need attention as much as ASUU does?

Which of them should we apply the " alternative forgone " theory we learnt in economics. If you want to compare Ghana and Nigeria in the areas of University education and use that as a hold for a prolonged industrial action; should we also forget other areas that contribute to the indices of development? because of the perception of their university system?

Now the govt may not have the type of money to make ASUU call off the strike, at this very moment. Which of these sectors do you think we should sacrifice for ASUU.

Firstly, are you the same person as dady12?

My point is on the highlighted part of his post.

dady12: if asari claim he is in a strugle to liberate niger delta region ,why did he not establish one in the region? they are all fighting for their private pocket and always cry out if their pocket is running dry,in fact, where did he have money for that white elephant project?he should arrested and tried by any competent court to prove his source of wealth than he calling on the arrest of innocent nigerians
Look at the highlighted very well and you 'll see my point. If you are the same person, you 'll see that this last post does not follow the thought pattern of the first.

Note; I don't make baseless criticism because I think broadly. Fact is, you'll condemn him anyway, even if he establishes it in Nigeria.

bloggernaija: Mr man, read that post properly .
Less than 12 months was enough for them to loot the equivalent of more than 25 geregus.
He started with the advantages of OBJ's ending
He started with a bank balance with significant reserves.
He drained the excess crude account with nothing to show for it.
Massive foreign exchange reserve.
A declining recurrent to capital ratio.
With all this advantages and bearing in mind how the excess crude account was depleted from $22 billion to almost 0 ,fuel subsidy fraud etc,
The nation should be talking about 20000MW today.
Like I said earlier ,I dare him to build only 5 geregus right now without borrowing .just like obj.continue living in darkness
I'm out.
The earlier you realize that all these negative commentaries is nothing but a dead end, the better for you. If Nigeria should be talking of 20000mw, why was 1 watt not added to the grid since 1970-1980s-90s you want to hold one man responsible for it?

anyway rejoice;!!! smiley we just added 434 MW today. that's a mile stone; even if it was commissioned by your foe.

Do you wan't this administration to succeed? or you want this administration to fail so that you can prove you feelings right? If you keep thinking like this, it will affect other areas of your life. so watch it.

Take this fact to the bank. ..Those who always see negatives about others can never be positive.. reason; Humans see things the way they (themselves) are.

FYI

Geregu-II
Location: Kogi
Operator: Niger Delta Power Holding Co Ltd
Configuration: 3 X 145 MW SGT5-2000E gas turbines
Operation: 2012-2013
Fuel: natural gas
T/G supplier: Siemens
EPC: Siemens, STEAG
Quick facts: In Sep 2010, Siemens won a turnkey contract worth €230mn to build Geregu-II. The plant was turned over in Jun 2013 to schedule.

Siemens Energy said it has received an order from Niger Delta Power Holding Company for construction of the Geregu II gas turbine power plant in Ajaokuta, about 200 kilometer south of Abuja. The order volume is approximately E230 million (about N43.24 billion).

The gas-fired power plant is scheduled to start commercial operation in late 2012.
Geregu II is a follow-up project to the Geregu I power plant, which Siemens built back in 2006. The company will supply three SGT5-2000E gas turbines, the electrical equipment and an SPPA-T3000 instrumentation and control system for the 434MW plant, which it will build as a turnkey project, the company said.
Michael Suess, CEO of the fossil power generation division of Siemens Energy, said: "After construction of the Afam and Geregu I power plants the order for Geregu II marks a further milestone for Siemens in Nigeria and in Africa. With the latest project the number of Siemens heavy-duty gas turbines in Nigeria will increase to eight."
The Geregu power plant, established under the National Independent Power Project, was among the plants inaugurated by former President Obasanjo shortly before he handed over power in 2007.Nigerian Geregu Gas Turbine Power Plant 1, the first brand new power plant funded and commissioned by his Obasanjo administration was built at a cost of euro 195m ($256 million ), it has the capacity to generate 414 megawatts of electric power.
Would you want to compare an 8 yer administration with one barely 2 yrs old. your reaction is unnecessary. Govt is a continuum and not a stupidd competition as you think it is. Its about the people. In Lagos The rail system was conceived by Jakande. the housing estate all-over is still credited to Jakande. If Fashola does something about it, wouldn't we give him credit?

FYI, geregu 2 was never fully paid for by the OBJ administration. Besides how many of such contracts are FULLY paid for before it starts. If you are talking of Geregu 1 ie the 414MW that has been operating as an island for years I'll say fine. But not Geregu 2. I worked at Ajaokuta so I am well informed about things. I don't need any twisted media reports.

Now I agree with GEJ that there is politics everywhere. Guy, That plant is for the good of Nigerians Let's celebrate. even if it was built by Lord Luggard.

As the president, there are tactical statements that makes more sense than rushing to make comments like our dear president has been doing. Firstly, I'll instruct the security chiefs not to make unconfirmed assumptions like proclaiming Shekau dead without visual evidence.

considering how forceful nigerians demands are for information regarding the operations of JTF the security chiefs may be compelled to give information. I don't need to tell you but I believe you know the JTF spokesman had to plead with journalist to be circumspect with information immediately the state of emergency was declared. At the same time they have to show nigerian that they are working and successful too. and they did that within available evidences. Besides, you should know that it took almost a month between of the time shekau was shot to the time the statement of his death was released. I don't need to explain the reasons to you. ( they simply wanted to be very sure and also to get evidence. but from their judgement he was shot and could not have survived) but Nigerians need to know.

How much does a drone cost? with 5 million USD you will get a predator drone, i can not begin to expantiate on the effeciency of this piece of invetion, a single Predator drone would conveniently carry out intelligence and reconnaissance-gathering, for up to 14 hours. We need to invest on the intelligence department in this country. We only make purchases when its inevitable that we need them , in most cases we panic-buy; Our fleet of modern fighter jet 12 in number was purchased by OBJ, out of which 3 have been reported crashing at one time or the other, what happens to the option of continuity? why cant we consistently invest in our defense department.

Can you kindly explain how a drone would have prevented the two Yobe student killings. I'd like to know. and please be very sure of your facts.

Another thing is the issue of the PR guys being used by the president, they are simply pathetic. Constantly making wrong utterances as they have successfully done a shoddy job at protecting our nelipot president, that they are best described as unprofessional, based on their maledicent pronunciations. It is quite Jumentous that the office of the president can not afford to employ the right set of PR guys apart from a failed politician and a journalist. What does a journalist know about PR? (no offense intended) The only thing they are good at is writing rejoinders and articles, no wonder they sound inaniloquent when making statements because they are simply incapable. They are not to be blamed, because a man cannot function beyond his level of exposure, hence their constantly gambrinous misdemeanor which betrays the level of sophistication required of the post which they occupy.

If you are honest with yourself, you'll know that Nigeria has not faced this kind of hostile environment since the inception of this country. Looking at it both politically or security-wise.I see it as cultural shock. we have never had a vocal opposition party like we have now and our security forces have never been this stretched. you should know this.

Let's not be so negative it would lead to despondency.People are working ; and you know it. I won't blame you because people outside a playing pitch always feel they know better than those on the pitch.

Why does the president make utterances that are unbecoming to his office as the GCFR of Nigeria?

This comment shows ineptitude on his part and its mind boggling that the president makes prosaic comments that it seems like he is constantly being quoted out of context. This is the kind of statement you hear in a beer parlor or among the market women. A whole President who has under his command the whole machinery of the Nigerian Security forces, showing signs of weakness and not only that, acting helpless and displaying cluelessness as he has just performed and act of skoptsy with this statement
If you were the president, what exactly will you do. while stating what you'll do kindly state the possible implication of the action. please be broad minded. believe me, you are not a military chief so i'll understand your limitations. but be broad minded.

taharqa: Even in respects to Total Install Capacity, 6000MW by 1990 is still impossible.... Egbin is 1320MW (and I doubt it was even fully functional at this time); Kainji, Shiroro and Jebba are together not up to 2000MW. These were d major Power plants at that time, so where did he get his 6000MWs from??
You know in Nigeria, people speak authoritatively on things they have little knowledge of. even here on this forum.
PoliticsRe: Power Generation Was 6000MW In 1990... True?? by duality(m): 6:51pm On Oct 01, 2013
The Chairman, Electric Power Foundation, Mr. Otis Anyaeji, speaking, recalled that the total installed capacity in 1972 was 523.6 megawatts. By 1990, this had increased to 6,000MW.
Total installed capacity is not the same as what is being generated and transmitted. most of our stations work below installed capacity for some reasons.
The aim of this topic is not clear to me , hence defeated.
