donphilopus: Keep deceiving yourself man!! How many states from the SW voted against Jonathan in 2011?? Only one which is Osun voted against Jonathan, yet CPC still tried.

2015 Election would not be based on any foolish southern agenda! So Jonathan would hardly win one state in the SW, which is Ondo. Come to the SS, PDP would try all their best in Edo, but we'll tell them that gone are those days where ballot papers would be taken to Anenih's house, so just expect a landslide victory for APC.

As for the North, Jigawa would be very hard for PDP, Plateau and Kaduna would also be very hard for them to win. The votes of Lagosians, and the entire Kano are more than the votes of the entire SE, including some parts of SS. So do not deceive your self, come 2015, we would say Goodbye To Goodluck (GTG).
Nairaland analysis. Continue counting votes from state to state like it matters. Hope u won't get heart attack wen Jonathan wins in 2015.

kbdrim: We all have our bias and its obvious from my write ups...whether they are sincere or not is what we really cant say to a definate conclusion. You sound so sure of your own assumptions but i think you should leave room for what ifs....The analogy you give for atiku in 2007 is different because Yaradua was a a northerner and so it was easier for the north to vote one of theirs. Besides the masterstroke from OBJ was the YARADUA family made Atiku politically so it was always going to be difficult to fight Yaradua as he was perceived as nice and a gentleman. If you lived and understand the mind of the average northerner then you should be scared for the PDP if you are a sympathizer. 2011 was a typical example..PDP did not win in any north west or North eastern state in the presidential elections. These nPDP governors have nothing to benefit this time around from the PDP since there are in their 2nd terms. Does it make any logical sense for Kwankwaso, Wammako and others to announce a merger and then come back because they have sorted their differences? It doesnt make any logical sense...Lamido and Babangida are only bidding their time..they might still remain in PDP but they would most likely join their colleagues in APC if you understand the mind of an average northerner
Do u seriously think the northerner nPDP governors will allow the APC eat into their already solid political base just because of Jonathan? I believe the nPDP and the APC are at the same stage the ACN and CPC were shortly before the 2011 elections where they both agreed in principle to merge but ended up falling apart. The kinds of alliances that this merger will potentially throw up are just ludicrous and impractical. Aregbesola, oyinlola and omisore in d same party? Belgore that has spent the last 2yrs calling abdulfatha a thief will now merge with his party? Its just impossible. And please explain to me what the most vociferous members of the nPDP, Aliyu and Lamido are still doing in the PDP? IMO, Its a family problem that'll soon b sorted out.
PoliticsRe: 49 House Members Decamp To APC by duni04(m):
kbdrim: You are also forgeting that this is the first time someone from a minority tribe is ruling Nigeria. You are also overestimating the intellectual capacity of GEJ. I dont think he commands the same respect OBJ had in 2003. remember that in 2011, none of these northern Governors(north east and north west) delivered their states to PDP. It is only worse right now especially in the north. There is no guarantee that even if GEJ accedes to their demands, he wont change his mind after 2015 and start hounding them into jail (GOV sylva comes to mind). The OBJ scenario also differs in 2003 because all the Governors were also looking for a 2nd term in Office. All the current G7 governors except kwara are in their second terms and therefore have nothing to loose. Money doesnt always sort it out as can be seen in 2007 Third term problem. This was also because most of the Governors were also serving their second terms in office and so still went ahead to mess the third term up. Lamido and Babangida Aliyu backtracking might actually be because they feels they stand a better chance of actualizing their ambitions in PDP instead of the APC. You can trust the average northerner...They would not be cowed by the use of force especially by a president from a minority tribe. There has never being a time when a sitting President has been this challenged and it hasnt gone unnoticed.
Seriously I think the only people being deceived here are the APC heirachy and uninformed Nigerians. Haven't u found it rather odd that the 2 governors that were at the forefront of the whole npdp saga, babangida aliyu and Sule lamido have chosen to remain in d PDP? This whole merger thing is a charade. Babangida aliyu and Lamido are using the other nPDP governors to buy leverage from Jonathan. When Jonathan finally accedes to their requests, don't b shocked wen Lamido and Aliyu start telling u it was a family disagreement that has been sorted out and pull the others back to the PDP. Its very cynical to think that aliyu and Lamido are staying behind in d PDP cos they stand a better chance there. Who will support them in d primaries? PDP delegates from Bayelsa or Akwa Ibom? The idea of having belgore, abdulfatha ahmed and saraki under the same roof in Kwara or Aregbesola oyinlola and omisore under the same roof in Osun is just laughable and impractical. Same goes for the other nPDP and APC merger states. Its a leverage thing. The joke is on d APC. Sadly wen d reconciliation thing goes down and the nPDP governors return, it'll b too late for the APC to mount any opposition in 2015. The only losers here will b the APC and Amaechi whose problem with Jonathan is more personal than political. In 2007 wen obasanjo was persecuting Atiku, Atiku tried to use the victim card to coerce the northern PDP into dumping OBj. OBJ simply chased Atiku out of the party to the ACN, swept the party structure off his feet and got influential northerners to lure aggrieved Atiku loyalists back into the PDP.
PoliticsRe: 49 House Members Decamp To APC by duni04(m): 3:27am On Nov 27, 2013
kbdrim: The beauty of what is happening right now in PDP is that balance of play is shifted to the centre. Even if the opposition does not win in 2015, the margin would not be too much which keeps any winning party on its toes. Nigeria is gradually moving to a two party state and that too is good for the country.
One of the attractions of the APC to the 5 governors is that the APC would recognise their worth and contribution as both the APC and nPDP need each other to make progress. Anyone who thinks these governors do not have a major influence in their states should think long and hard. Past governors who have started their own parties(Orji Uzo Kalu, Ladoja and Gbenga Daniel) have shown that it is still possible to upset the cart. The advantage the current defecting governors in the north have is that for the first time they would also be riding in the same party with Buhari who still has a cult following in the north. 2015 presents a very interesting challenge for Nigerian politics.
I will not be shocked if other smart governors join the ranks of the APC especially in the North as it is easier to ride with the mass movement than against.2011 comes to mind
This kind of analysis is meant for an already established democracy where politics revolves around the people and service. In everything you wrote you failed to acknowledge the power of incumbency and money. Jonathan has the resources of the state at his disposal including the security agencies that are already hounding some of these npdp governors. I still maintain that all jonathan has to do is accede to whatever requests these npdp people are making or just open the treasury for them and they'll run back to the pdp before 2015. We saw drama like dis one prior to the 2003 elections where atiku and orji kalu thought they controlled the PDP and obasanjo taught them that the power of a sitting president supersedes anything else. Obasanjo settled his own house drama with Ghana must go politics on the floors of both legislative houses. Shebi its just to sack tukur, allow the npdp governors select their successors in 2015 and beg wike to leave amaechi alone. Then probably dump sambo and replace him with Lamido. Let's watch

Going by how Nigeria works, next thing now is to blackmail the president into making compromises or else they'll impeach him. The dumbass won't want to b d first Nigerian president to b impeached so he'll play ball and open d treasury for them to come and chop. Wen they chop belle full, they'll sit down again and say it was only a family disagreement and Jonathan is still their man. 2015 will come and the sick people called Nigerians will still go and put their fingers beside umbrella and say they're not voting for PDP but Jonathan. The dumbass will win and rule for another 4years. Story finish

safarigirl: Yep. In fact, in 2011 i paid #1,500 to watch Guilty Pleasure...and there were at least 13 others watching with me. Certain Nigerians would pay to watch a good Naija movie. How else did Figurine and Ije gross as much as they did if people didn't watch? You just won't get as much of an audience as an foreign movie cuz a typical Nigerian would rather watch a poorly produced foreign movie than a Nigerian movie of world standards

TV/MoviesRe: Will You Pay To Watch A Nigerian Cinema Movie? by duni04(m):
I'll pay 2 watch a nigerian movie if they reduce it to 200 naira. Its not fair to charge 1500 naira on a hollywood movie that was shot on a budget of more than $50million and charge the same 1500 on a Nigerian movie produced with a budget of 5million naira. If u want to rake in the same as hollywood movies, scale up d production and quality of ur movies. The disparity in the quality of hollywood and nollywood movies is very stark. We definitely shouldn't b forced to pay d same.

Florida Cop Buys $100 in Groceries for Woman Caught Shoplifting Food

A struggling Florida mom who was caught trying to shoplift hundreds of dollars of groceries ended up with food and a ride home from a kind-hearted police officer, instead of a ride to the stationhouse.

When Miami-Dade Police Officer Vicki Thomas, 55, was dispatched to look into a shoplifting case at a Publix grocery store, a store manager led her to Jessica Robles.

“She was crying. I said, ‘Okay, what did she take?’ And he pointed to a grocery cart that was full of groceries,” Thomas told ABCNews.com. “I’ve been on [the job] 23 years, and I went, wow.”

“She just filled up the grocery cart and she just walked out, which shocked me and I asked her, ‘Why?’” Thomas recalled. “She said, ‘My children were hungry.’ And that immediately impacted me.”

PapaBrowne: Its bad enough that they do all that, but isn't it even worse that we allow them define us before we define ourselves.

There's this saying I love: The power of an oppressor lies in the ignorance of the oppressed!

While I totally agree that the western media paints Africa bad, truth is Africans usually paint a horrid image of Africa as well such that it gives so much credibility to the antics of the west. When I lived abroad, I knew people that did all they could to disdain Africa just so they can get working papers. People told crazy unbelievably horrid stories about violence in thier communities just so they could get immigration papers.

There is many reasons why the west would not want to see Africa progress. They can manage an Asian progress but would not tolerate an African progress.

The number one reason is Economic. Imagine what has happened to western economies as a result of developments in China, Brazil and many other developing countries. Imagine how the demand for resources resulted in increasing prices. Now think of what would happen if 1 billion Africans suddenly have to drive cars(Fuel Price), build houses and skyscrapers(steel prices), eat more meat(water scarcity, yes water scarcity),etc. The consequences would be devastating for the west first because the resources currently available to them literally free from Africa would have to be used in Africa. Imagine a situation where Nigeria has to consume all the 2 million barrels we produce? Where will UK get its supplies from?

The other reason is the maintain a sense of superiority. If Africa can keep being painted in bad light, then aid is what it needs and not investments. If more money goes into aid rather than investment, then Africans would remain dependent on handouts and see no reason to fix themselves.
Ur livin in a fools paradise if u think d UK gives a shit about ur oil. The UK has oil in d north sea and also recently discovered shale oil. Africans should just sit down and think up ways of developing their continent instead of constantly creating imaginary enemies for themselves. If u don't want the bbc to show slums and pot holes, get rid of them!

ROSSIKE: Millions of Chinese and Indians have emigrated overseas as well. Even more than Africans. So that's no excuse.
Its no excuse to show us the reasons why millions of Nigerians are running away from their country and flooding theirs? U think the BBC or the CNN for instance don't owe it to their home countries to explain why they are being inundated daily with the influx of econimic migrants from Nigeria? Maybe its even good for them to show high rises and excellent roads so potential asylum seekers from Nigeria will have a harder time explaining why they want to escape from their 'high rise utopia' to Europe and America.
