D OP asked a simple philosophical question n everyone is dropping quotes from religious texts. I'm sure we had rules on sexual relations in Africa before the advent of the abrahamic faiths and these rules were influenced by experiences and myths about sex. Women were traded and exchanged or even given as gifts and men were allowed to have sexual relations with as many women as they liked, most times after certain rites and rituals would have been performed. The notion that whoever doesn't stand before a pastor or imam before taking a woman as his wife and has sexual relations with her has committed adultery/fornication is just ludicrous. Although its a generally accepted convention which makes it a norm, its not necessarily as arbitrary as condemning anyone who doesn't abide by it. Though it has helped reduce d spread of disease and allowed for a generally accepted convention on sexual relations, at the end of d day, its still a simple principle that people have agreed to live by I.e a norm and not d "abide or hell" dogma that people are spewing here.

Its just my own opinion sha but everything has to start from somewhere. Do u know the number of revolutions and changes these countries u mentioned, especially russia and china, have had to go through before achieving economic prosperity? Even with all their wealth, they still have internal conflicts between their various ethnic nationalities. Unless congo wants to be ruled as a communist state or a dictatorship, where the centre exerts all the power over the entire country, there is no way the country will be stable under a democracy. They will ultimately go the way of Sudan.
