What your friend needs to do is to continue to prove him wrong and to continue to do what a good kid will do for his father. He should not even argue with the father.
The more he is at loggerheads with the father the more he is giving the father an oppourtunity to justify his actions.

Your friend should continue to do well and treat his father with respect and love. In the end its guilt and conscience that will make the baba call his children and make peace with them.

Do not make the mistake of directly comparing your man with "other casual friends/RELATION". It reduces their self esteem and could warrant such undesirable feedback to the lady.

At this point, you might wanna take an inventory of your relationship with Him. Is He really worth the fight or struggle?
I know of a couple who used to have this "you didn't call me ish"......but the Man was always there to listen to her rantings and would always apologise for as many times as she complained. The indicator there is that He's still loves her. Whenever he calls her eventually, he tries to make it worth her while (in the way he can).

Have you been nagging too much about the issue? Did you call back? (please don't if you haven't)
Right now, you need to learn to have a life outside of Him. Don't talk about it anymore and just live your life without being dependent on him to love and validate you.
I'd have said point-blankedly that He's no longer interested, which might not be far from the truth, but, He might still love you, just be for the moment, say two-1 month and observe/analyze. Eventually, it'd be your call to make, not ours.

Insecurity, excessive insecurity's a big turn off for men and women alike in a relationship.

Things can only get better for you.
