yourboss:
Pls I need your help!

I have been searching for apartment for some weeks and then finally my uncle helped me get one so I relocated to this 2 bedroom flat apartment, there are 2 buildings in the compound, one at the front which is 4 bedroom flat and I occupy the one at the back which is 2 bedroom flat, after 2 days of occupying the room my uncle came to visit me and fortunately he knew the man living in the other flat and then told him I'm his brother and all those introduction but his wife and daughter weren't around that time because they traveled for an occasion and spent like 1 week.

During my first week in the apartment it was toward the ending of the month which was environmental sanitation day, I was out cleaning the environment with the man living the other flat, and starting from that day we keep talking and whenever he's back home he will call on me to keep his company before since he's the only one at home.

The issue now is that his wife and his daughter are back home and both the wife and the daughter won't stop disturbing me, the daughter will come to my room when I'm at home at noon bringing their playstation so I can fix that to my TV and teach her which she always seduces me to the extent that the girl will always call and text me even when it's not up to 5 minutes after leaving my apartment, when the daughter is not around and her mom come home to do some chores, she would come to my apartment saying she wanna check on me and doing some seductive stuffs, she even calls me on phone.

Please, should I tell her mom I don't like all those stuffs or I tell her husband or what do you think I should do??
don't say anything to anybody it might be they r just trying to be friendly since non said they wanted u xpect u got something else in your mind.

How do you react when you have a young child that steals? You've talked to him/her several times, told him/her everything that has to be said about the consequences of pilfering. You do ALL you can to provide his needs and wants. But he keeps 'doing it'. How do you help or stop such a child? A reader sent this in yesterday:

Hello,

My son steals from me, my husband, my mother, his grandparents, his friends, everybody!! Please, let's discuss this here because I'm sure I'm not the only mother having this problem. If it's not money, it's things as small as tiny toys and games from neighbors. Sincerely, it's gotten so bad I don't know what to do with him anymore. My husband and I now have locks on our bedroom door to keep him out.

Problem started when he was 11 and got into boarding school. He is 13 now. I've threatened him that next time he steals, I would have the police involved. Of course I don't want to or plan to do that but I don't know what else to do.

Politics / Re: 150 Drowned, Others Shot Dead While Running ‪from ‎boko Haram‬ In Yobe by Dynaman(m): 10:36pm On Aug 18, 2015
auntysimbiat:
Residents of Kukuwa-Gari village in Yobe state were thrown into pandemonium as gangs of militants arrived on motorcycles and a car and opened fire of them, local residents said on Tuesday.

Up to 150 people drowned in a river or were shot dead fleeing the insurgents who attacked them on Thursday last week. “They opened fire instantly, which forced residents to flee. They shot a number of people. Unfortunately many residents who tried to flee plunged into the river which is full from the rain. Many drowned,” Modu Balumi, a resident of the village, told newsmen.

“By our latest toll we have 150 people either (shot dead) or drowned in the attack. The gunmen deliberately killed a fisherman who tried to save drowning residents of the village.”  Balumi said the bodies of many of the drowned were picked out by locals several kilometres away.

News of the attack was slow to emerge because the militants have destroyed telecom masts around the village, around 50 kilometres (30 miles) from Yobe State capital Damaturu, since the insurgency began in 2009. “Most residents, particularly women and children, ran towards the river in confusion,”said Bukar Tijjani, another villager, who confirmed the death toll.

“They were pursued by the gunmen who kept firing at them. In the frantic effort to escape they jumped into the river, which was full to the brim.” A local government official confirmed the attack but put the death toll much lower, at around 50.

Massacre

The ambush came during the region’s peak rainy season, when most waterways in northeastern Nigeria are swollen and can flow with dangerous speed. The village was still reeling from a raid by suspected Boko Haram militants on July 31 when at least 10 people were killed by gunmen who burned homes, food silos and livestock.

‎The Gujba area of Yobe state, where Kukuwa-Gari village is located, has been hit hard by Boko Haram violence in the past but had seen relative calm since troops reclaimed it in March. In September 2013 scores of students of an agricultural college in the area were massacred as they slept in their dormitories.

In February last year dozens of students of a boarding secondary school in the main town of Buni Yadi were also killed in a gun attack on their hostels. Boko Haram claimed responsibility for both attacks. The jihadist militia, which has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group, has waged a violent campaign for a separate Islamic homeland in the northeast which has seen more than 15,000 deaths since 2009.

The military under President Muhammadu Buhari’s predecessor Goodluck Jonathan was heavily criticised for poor handling of the insurgency and its failure to free more than 200 schoolgirls abducted from the northeastern town of Chibok in April last year.

Nigeria’s new leader, who came to power on May 29 vowing to destroy Boko Haram, replaced his military chiefs last week, ordering them to end the insurgency within three months.

Anti-terror force

Since May, the militants have stepped up their campaign with a wave of raids, bombings and suicide attacks which have left more than 1,000 people dead in Nigeria alone, according to an AFP count.  The Islamists have also carried out deadly ambushes across Nigeria’s borders and in recent weeks suicide bombers, many of them women, have staged several attacks in Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad.

A five-nation regional force of 8,700 troops from Nigeria and its neighbours has been set up to fight Boko Haram and is expected to deploy imminently. Buhari told a national security gathering in Abuja on Monday his government would employ “at least an extra 10,000 police officers” and set up a federal anti-terrorism task force to crush the rebellion.

Chadian leader Idriss Deby declared on August 12 that efforts to combat Boko Haram had succeeded in “decapitating” the group and would be wrapped up “by the end of the year”.

Deby told reporters in the capital N’Djamena that Boko Haram was no longer led by the fearsome jihadist commander Abubakar Shekau and that his successor, whom he named as Mahamat Daoud, was open to talks. But Shekau dramatically rebuffed the claim in an audio recording released on Sunday and authenticated by security analysts, dismissing the Chadian head-of-state as a “hypocrite” and a “tyrant”.

How is it that these people get their weapons even tanks and armoured vehicles undetected!! How did they get the shipment through the boarders of same Nigeria!! Come on! this is just a war business where arminition companies in US and around the world are trying to sell their commodities you know and it is been said that war business is the only business where profits are counted in Us dollars and loses in lives so the investors has nothing to loss.
So from my own view of boko haram it is an influenced business war like many wars going on around the world now.
These types of war are difficult to resolve because of the huge profit made by these companies from the war where both conflicting sides can be buying arms from same company unknowingly through contactors. May God help us all.

It is about 5 years I completed my NYSC here in Lagos and since then I have been so uncomfortable with my life. I studied Physics & Electronics and Master’s degree from State and Federal institutions. I have been teaching Physics, Mathematics, Further Maths, and Chemistry from private home teaching to private schools to sustain myself since 2012. It has never being easy but as a Christian I keep my hope in God. I have spent a lot of money on attending conferences, travelling, tests, interviews, and scholarship applications for Ph.D abroad.

Now, I am to resume work in an engineering firm as a Technical/Product sales engineer with a car next month. Same day, a school offers to employ me as further maths subject teacher with a self-contained accommodation. The confusion now is that the school offers 80k/month while the sales job is 60k/month plus commission on each sale. My highest pay so far per month is 32k.

Dear Moderator, I'll be grateful if my post is on the front page.

I will appreciate your contributions. Thanks a lot.
the sales job is better since there is car and commision on sales involved then 60k/m, I think its better.

Religion / Re: 7 Reasons Why People Dont Go To Church by Dynaman(m): 9:53am On Aug 16, 2015
XavierBlue:
Back in the early 1990's when Christianity was dominating others forms of religion, a lot of people flock to church. But those numbers seems to reduce over the years. The reasons are put below, though some are assertions.

1. CHURCH ARE FULL OF HYPOCRITE.

No need to debate on this fact as its all clear and decipherable. Perhaps, even in-eradicable. We all say one thing and do the other, we all criticize people and still turn around to indulge in the same acts we were vehemently against. The church is full of this set of people, thus making people lack the desire to go to church. Yes.. I am an hypocrite, but with all due respect, you are also an hypocrite.

2. THE CHURCH IS BORING.

You could chose to debate on this. Since when was the church meant to be entertaining?. Well! The church has witness a dramaticall change over the years, and to some people, this assertion is true.

3. THE CHURCH IS EXCLUSIVE.

The church has an exclusive message, which is for everyone. The thing is, every one knows the message, "jesus brings salvation" etc. So why bothering going to church to hear a repetition of it?. This is also one of the reason why people stay back from church, to them, they know the message the bible and church is relaying.

4. THERE DON'T HAVE TIME.

This is undoubtedly any major point. Simple, they don't have the time or are two busy. People who are on work shift during the weekend also fall into this category. This is priority issue, but a valid reason nonetheless.

5. THEY DON'T HAVE CLOTHES.

Though this shouldn't be an excuse for Christians to stay back from church as they worship the Lord and not men, it is a reason why some people stay back from church.
I know of a church that laughs sadornically at members that repeat clothes and attire. The act alone is appaling. Instead of being laughed at, some people choose to stay at home and avert such mortification.

6. LIFE IS BETTER WITHOUT RELIGION.

This is an assertion but With that perspective, people tend to neglect church since its the "pillar" of religion. Going by the norms and commandments of the church by being a Christian are hectic for others. For me, i don't care much about religion but a better relationship with God. Some people that neglect church also hold to this assertion.

7.THE CHURCH WANT YOUR MONEY.

This is undoubtedly another congent reason. If you go to a church that talks more about offering and ransom than sermon, you'd found this a valid point. Maybe the church is faced with financial difficulties.
I think The Leaders should do more about praying and trusting, for God will provide.
However, am ain't advocating that members shouldnt give to the church but It appalling for leaders to "CHALLENGE" members into giving, it should be a thing of the mind.

If you have a different perception of the amazing nature of the God who created you, you should find ways to reorganize your priorities around such a wonderful God.

Romance / Re: How A Lady I Was Supposed To Dump Skillfully Dumped Me by Dynaman(m): 8:52pm On Aug 15, 2015
unyours:
I had misunderstanding with this lady i called my girlfriend. Don't want to start telling long stories but It was all her fault - she cheated on me.

At first i felt like ending the relationship but i later decided to stay away from her for a while. She seem to have felt it so she kept calling me while i refuse to pick. She sent me an sms saying she is sorry that she has not been able to eat ever since.

She called me the next day which i picked this time around. She begged me let's meet in a fast food restaurant. I have already made up my mind for a reconcilation so i agreed and we chose 4pm. Meeting me at the fast food joint, she hugged me saying she is sorry that i should forgive her. I told her i have forgiven her. Just like the story of the prodigal son in the bible, i spoilt her with food and gift that day. After everything, i accompanied her home and later went to my house.

Not long after i have settled down at home, my phone rang...it was her. I picked with all the smiles on my face until she began to speak saying..."I won't like to hurt you in future. Please let's end this relationship. It's over." She hung up.

I called back immediately, she busied the call and kept on "busying" the call. She wouldn't pick my call. I sent sms pleading which she never replied. Then i realised i have been scammed. I couldn't sleep that night and nights that followed.

That was how the relationship ended leaving me as the loser and the one to shoulder all regrets and had-i-known.

I can only smile and share this story today because it's a thing of the past.

I regretted my action so i decided to share so my dear nairalanders don't fall victim.

Family / Re: 6 Things You Can Learn From My Mum's Death. by Dynaman(m): 12:43pm On Aug 12, 2015
thecreativeguy:
There are two dates in every year which i don't use to forget. The first is April 23 (my birthday); while the second is December 23 (Christmas day). But this year, another date has being joined with these two dates which I can't forget every year. The new date is June 10. It was the day i lost my mother. Though i don't like remembering what happened on that day, i will try telling you bits about it.

It was a wednesday. She woke up early before many others, like many other days, and after preparing herself, went to her shop for the day's business (her shop is beside our house). That morning, she talked to people, washed her clothes, and attending to customers. In fact, when she finished washing her clothes, she was happy because the sun shone that day (the previous days were rainy).

Well, I was just recovering from malaria. I was inside and she called me. I answered her by coming to the balcony, while she was downstairs. She ask me to come and help her call those that will supply water for her tank, and I told her am coming. Before going to meet her, I decided to relax a bit.

Few minutes later, when I went downstairs to her shop, I saw her siting on the chair in her shop, in a posture that made me feel instantly that something is wrong somewhere. I was relutant going in at first, because I was feeling 'What if it's what i'm thinking? But soon, a young girl want to buy something and i use that medium to go in to where she is, telling her 'Mummy, they want to buy something.' But she's gone (though not totally gone then). But when we get her to the hospital, she's gone.

It's a painful incident. But there are lessons we all can learn from her death.

1. The Distance Between Life And Death Is Just A Step Away: You wouldn't know the real meaning of this if you haven't experienced it. Someone you talked to just few minutes ago, and in the next minute, the person is gone.

2. People Will Talk About You When You're Gone: My mum's death was a big loss to not only we her immediate family, but everyone that knows her. Why? Because of her good deeds. She's known by some as 'Iya Alaanu' (a mother who pity and help). She's a good woman. There are many people she had helped and still planned to help. When she died, everyone (ibos, yorubas) keep lamenting how good a woman she was.

What would be said about you after you are no more is determined by how you live your life today. If you want people to talk good about you when you're gone (in a way that will make life easier for your children you're leaving behind), do good always.

3. When Making Plans, Think Death: My mum's old mother died this year (during the elections) and the final burial ceremony is being scheduled to hold in early Septemeber. She's already making preparations for it (buying shoes and other things). But lo, she didn't even live to withness the final burial ceremony of her mother!! What a world!

Thus, in every plan you make, always think about death. And if you make plans and you live to execute it, thank God for it please.

4. Don't Hide Things From Your Family, You Don't Know When You'll Die: My mother rarely hid things from we her children. Infact, few days before she died, she do tell us about the types of dreams she do have (i wished i've taken them much serious) When my mother died, before many consolers and outsiders came, myself and my sister had cleared her money with some important documents of she have from where she keeps them.

In anything you do, let your family know about it- you don't know when you will die.

5. You Will Die, But Your Legacy Lives On: My mother trained me and my siblings using what i will call a 'classic approach'. There are certain things i see others do to their parents, and i wonder if i can dare try that with my mum. My mum trained us in a 'no-nonsence' way, making me and my siblings to be outstanding (though not perfect).

Now that she's gone, her legacy lives on. You know, even now, when doing something, i do think about her opinion (like, 'Will she like this if she's around?)

Thus, everyone of us should strive to live lifestyles of good legacies so that when we are gone, our good legacies will live on. Parents should teach their children well; in a way that, when you are gone, your legacies will leave on.

6. Life Is Vanity: My mum is working on her own house project- she couldn't complete it. Many sees her as a 'big woman'; but she take none of her money with her. She had lots of clothes, shoes, bags (you trust women), but they were distributed. In fact, the one she put on the day she died was burnt with fire- she takes none along!

Life is vanity. There is nothing we bring to this world that we will take along while leaving. Don't make wealth and success a do-or-die affair. Don't look for money in wrong ways. Women, don't sell your body for money. Guys, don't do wrong fradulent things to get money. They are all vanities!!!!

Ha. Mummy, so you've left your boy alone. You really suffered for your children, but didn't wait to eat your labours. I want to make you proud. I have lots of plans for you. But if you are seeing me wherever you are now, by God's Help, i promise to make you proud. Ha. Life is not just fair. Ha. Good night ma.
