Been a while i posted here, work and all that. I do hope we have been able to make good use of all the information we garnered here. I am particularly grateful for all those who have called constantly and happy that people have been able to start doing something.

For those who have been experiencing troubles, i believe it can only get better. We learn so that we can improve our lives. Keep trying.

I am looking at the possibility of starting a WhatsApp group to better help and effectively cater to our needs. The thought of the work involved is still scary but its possible. In the interim, keep the calls coming and i will try to help as much as i can. A training is in the works for the 3rd Quarter of the year.

I would also say that if any farmer has sows that savage their young, don't use that line for breeding to avoid heartbreak

Hi! Human females sometimes kill their babies after birth. With pigs and most mammals, it's the same thing and it happens for many reasons. One might be a genetic problem; it might be in her genes to murder her babies. It might also be stress related; she might be afraid or tense about her delivery- is it her first? Changes shortly before delivery can also affect her mood.

All in all, give her just one more chance. If she eats her next litter, she needs to be destroyed.

I have a poultry with fishpond I no Longer use due to Leakages. Am toying with the Idea of Converting the ponds to pig pens. But am scared because Of It's proximity to the poultry house. l normally raise broilers and Sometimes pullets in that pen

There is no danger in terms of disease spreading from one to the other. Pigs and chickens can stay together but please ensure that none can stray into the other's domain because I have heard funny stories of pigs killing and eating chickens.

Nice observations, but all what you listed varies cause of location. In Abia state, a kg of pork meat goes for #1100

Are you for real? If you are serious then Abia is d best location to site a piggery because raw materials will abound and cheaply too

Pls my follow pig farmer and those interested in pig farming Pls, do be careful when buying exotic breeds. 80% of exotic breed been sold to u are not pure breeds they are mixed. My advice to anyone venturing into pig farming or buying exotic pigs should insist on seeing the parent pig of any piglets or grower u are about to buy to avoid stories that touch.
