I am beginning to change my mind from Dallas to El Paso. Having a great thought
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by dyout: 7:48am On Jun 19, 2015
I read it some where, but can't remember where. They were apologising that they are upgrading their saver. That it will be sorted out soon

dunwun:

Thought I was the only one. I'm having same issue, in fact i just sent them an email.

I guess it's due to the global IT issues they are experiencing. I suggest you keep trying.

Thank you noted also

akindolz:
Did I hear chicago? U say watttttt.....? Please don't dare use chicago as ur POE o....talking from experience please.

God forbid if her husband attention is needed in the US how will they resolve it? The VO reason outside the box. Even though her hubby is not joining her on the trip let him go with her to get the visa.
Thank u some much I have noted the Chicago POE.

Nogen:

Like she has right to choose VO herself. Her husband should be a tie she has back home. Don't even go through Chicago. It's worse than Houston for pregnant women.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by dyout: 12:57pm On Jun 11, 2015
Hello, I will advice u to go with ur hubby wen next u reapply. These are the possible reasons;

1. The VO will be wandering what will ur hubby be doing without assisting you.
2. Secondly make sure u use another VO wen next u go.
3. Don't use Texas as ur POE use New york, Chicago etc

Good luck!

dunwun:
Hello travels gurus
Had my visa interview yesterday but was refused; worst part is can't seem to place my hansd on what went wrong, so I'm skeptical about reappling for fear of rejection.

I really wish I knew what I shouldn't have done or should have done. Was pretty confident from all the learnings I had garnered here.

Background:

Applied for B2, used Lagos, married, self sponsored, travelling alone, budget of about 12.1K , Oakbend medical center, precious cedars for 10 weeks accommodation, Dr FF. SOA balance of about 3.5M in 2 banks with very good inflow and outflow. First time applicant to US, previously travelled for holiday to Ghana and Dubai. Work for a multinational.23weeks gone.

Transcript(in no particular order):

It seemed like I was her first interviewee or she just came from a break cos she had window blinds half way down her window and was settling down with a cup of coffee or something. Quite formal Black woman, no smiles etc. Hardly had eye contact, cos she kept typing, her fingers were so fast.Seemed to take forever, cos she kept typing.

where are you going to in the US? Richmond texas

Why?Vacation and child birth.

Who have you contacted? FF of OBC

How longdo you plan to spend? 10 weeks

Wherewould you be staying? Precious Cedars.

Where do you work? Xyz

What do you do there? Bla bla bla

how long have you been there? ...yrs

How much do you earn? Xyz

do you have a birth plan? gave her + FF correspondences and Precious Cedars emails.

CanI see your statements. Sure, passed them to her she studied and studied and studied.

So you are going for 3 months. No... 10 weeks.

I see you are married. Yes I am

Do you have any children. No, this is our first.

Have youtravelled outside? Yeah, UAE.

And kept typing and typing and typing.

I'm sorry bla bla bla, gave me the blue paper with 214b reasons for refusal.

...that's as far as I can remember...

I had a portmanteau filled with proofs, but you don't prove what you weren't asked, rightHow do I prove strong ties, thought my place of work, job role and the fact that my husband wasn't travelling with me was good enough.

Ireally do not know what to do differently?
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by dyout: 5:47pm On Jun 09, 2015
The most important thing is for you to pay all ur bills without any aid and also Doctors and hospital correspondence. You can tell the VO of ur accommodation verbally.

hotstuff1:

Thank you so much for your reply dear.
i see...so the VO will not request for like hotel reservations and all that?Cuz that was my initial worry. If thats the case, i have close family in Indianapolis...would rather go there.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by dyout: 1:40pm On Jun 09, 2015
If you have not committed your Dr, you are free to change your doctor when you get there. Also tell the VO the truth that u want to stay in Dallas and have your babe in Houston. I also travelling to Dallas by October.

hotstuff1:
Hi everyone,
I'm super new to all this but just reading one or two post I feel so informed. Thanks everyone.
I need some advice, Im due August and planing to go for my interview last week in June. What bothers me is that I'm using doctor Fagbohun who is in Houston and I have family in Dallas. From reading through i'm guessing I have to get like a hotel some weeks before my due date...
How do I present this when interviewed?
Also, im just recently married and my passport is still in my maiden name, will this be a problem?

If anyone is going for an interview this month let us plan together please...i feel so lost..lol

Please it's urgent, I need help
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by dyout: 11:13am On May 12, 2015
That is why i am recommending travelstart, they will give option of change of date with cost price of 15k, but dont want about infant, you call them for that.

modath:

From many mums experiences, one can deduce purchasing tix through 3rd party agents may create a bottle neck when it comes to adding infant tix or a date change.

Anyone with a different experience can help shed more light.

@mamatobenna,
Seconded.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by dyout: 10:47am On May 12, 2015
Try using Delta or BA through agent like travelstart or wakanow. But travelstart is preferrable becos of the options of +-3days also there price is far cheaper than wat u stated earlier.

Beryl15:
@modath and @chloe7.
Thanks ladies for your responses. I'm traveling with a toddler so it would really be a journey of life grin with Qatar. 10 hour wait + belle would not be fun at all.
I had delta in mind but the fare no be here, almost 500k. Last time I used delta I got awoof ticket 198k smiley

I've travelled Turkish airline before and the wait was 6 hour to & 23hours on return leg!

@hotmummy2015, Please how much is the cost of the hospital? A frd of mine just told me about the hospital today in Atlanta. i am thinking of using the Hospital.

xxxx

hotmummy2015:
After struggling to find decent accommodation in Cunming Georgia, and reading some horrible reviews of the few extended stay hotels I found that were closest to my hospital ( Northside hospital - forsyth campus) I also couldn't get an apartment for lease cos the minimum lease term was 6months with strict cancelation rules and I only needed three months!!!

I have now found one in Alpharetta Georgia via www.airbnb.com at $697 per month cheesy very fantastic in my opinion, anyone who doesn't have close family can try the site as well as other extended stay hotels that have fair reviews - not the type that has drug dealers etc

just thot to share

xxxx

Subject: Change in travel plans

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to notify the embassy of a change in my travel plans. I have a B1/B2 visa which was obtained for a family vacation. I am pregnant and we have decided to have our baby in the USA. I have contacted a hospital in the USA for this purpose and we have adequate finances to cover all expenses.

I understand my visa covers for this purpose but would like to request you kindly update my records to reflect this change in travel plans. Also please advise if there is any other thing i would need to do.

Thank you.

@Newmum15 Thank God for you, that must have been very tiring.
Refuelling in Accra! Na wa o!

I have been spending a lot of my time watching Homeland security on youtube out of boredom and have become more sympathetic to CBP officers. They encounter a lot during the course of their duties! I think oyibos can't really differentiate us blacks from us or each other (the way we can't differentiate blonds and chinese) and Africans have this nasty reputation of capitalising on this to try to deceive CBP by swapping passports. that's why they called our brothers to come and identify you. Lol!

Hope you are well rested now
