Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has issued a heartfelt apology to her colleague Mercy Johnson-Okojie and Senator Ned Nwoko, acknowledging that some of her past utterances and actions were hurtful and regrettable. This came following an invitation by the police after Mercy Johnson Okojie reportedly filed a petition against her over incessant cyberattacks and bullying. Angela’s apology to Ned Nwoko, Mercy Johnson “Hi beautiful people, these past days have been a period of intense reflection for me. Lately , having reminisced on certain events that had transpired, I can only thank God that I am alive. It’s no secret that there have been some difficult issues circulating on social media between Mercy Johnson and myself; Moving forward, I would like to address this matter. I am human, and when my emotions take over, I speak from the heart, often saying things directly as they come to me, especially when I felt hurt. Once I’ve expressed myself, I forget about it and move on, but I realize now that my utterances whether uttered from the place of pain or not was hurtful, some events that has happened these past days made me realize that I should have done better. I feel so sorry having realized how this gets to you, Mercy. Your mental health is very important now and ever & I wouldn’t wish you and your family worse, that’s not my nature, and you know it, Do find a place in your heart to forgive me. I’ve also been the target of lies, betrayal, and unwarranted attacks. Bloggers have spread false information, and people have created videos filled with blatant lies. The betrayal has been overwhelming, but I forgive everyone who has hurt me and leave them to face their own conscience. Furthermore, My sincere apology also goes to Senator Ned Nwoko, I understand that, my anger in trying to make a reply didn’t find you in a good state, it was as a reaction of an unprovoked bashing and attack that was blown out of proportion. I truly reacted in a way I now recognise wasn’t pleasant. I cannot intentionally disrespect you for whatever reason. To buttress this, I remember being part of your political campaign, the one you brought ZuleZoo , myself & other artists. I have also honored your family’s yearly children’s carnival when invited; All these have made me realize that being at peace is better than war or fight, I deeply regret my actions and am sorry.” Stay updated on all the latest Naija celebrity drama and trending news in on our Real Talk Lounge (in signature) 👇

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo’s recent office fire may not have been just a random accident after all. 👀 Her daughter, Priscilla Ojo (now Mrs. Mkambala), revealed via her Instagram story that a disturbing anonymous letter was sent to Iyabo's office on May 24 — weeks before the fire incident on July 8. Veteran Nigerian actor and comedian, Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, has revealed the reasons behind his decision to marry at the age of 40. Speaking during an interview on WithChude, the 61-year-old Nollywood star said he delayed marriage due to self-confidence issues and financial instability early in his career. “I did not have confidence. It took me a long time to start toasting. I got married late because of two major things. My profession and myself,” Saka explained. The actor, known for his humorous roles, noted that he ventured into theatre purely out of passion, without considering how to earn a living from it. “In my profession, which is theatre, there was no money to be made. Then, nobody recognised artistes. We were doing it out of passion. And the worst part of it is that they did not teach us how to make money from theatre. We were just acting,” he said. Saka also shared how his financial struggles affected his relationships. He recounted an encounter with a woman he once considered marrying, who insisted he must own two cars before she would agree to settle down with him. “When I finished, I had no car, nothing. Obviously, when you call a girl, they would look at you like there was no future for you. In fact, one of them told me one day that ‘Afeez you are wasting your life. Leave this theatre and go and do something relevant with your life’,” he said. He added, “The one I was actually supposed to marry was demanding that I have two cars before she married me. Then something told me, Afeez, this is not your wife. So, I ran away. It was not until I got to college that I got married.” Saka eventually found love and married his wife, Olaide Oyetoro, in 2003. The couple has three children. Afeez Oyetoro studied Theatre Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University and later at the University of Ibadan. He remains one of Nigeria’s most beloved comic actors, with memorable performances both on screen and stage.

Popular Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has broken his silence on his separation from his wife, Annie Macaulay, after over a decade of marriage. The 49-year-old music icon spoke during a recent episode of the 234 Mzansi Podcast released on Monday, where he shared personal insights into their decision to part ways, though he declined to go into full details. The couple, who got married in May 2012, officially separated in January 2025 after years of ups and downs that played out both privately and in the public eye. According to 2Baba, both he and Annie did everything possible to make the marriage work, but they reached a point where it could no longer continue. “I think both of us gave it our best. And why we’re not together today is not something I’m going to talk about publicly,” he said. “Me and her have our own understanding. She’s amazing, it just wasn’t working no more. Something wey una get before wey no dey again, that’s why I said I won’t talk about it here. “I think you should try to fix your marriage but if it’s beyond that, I don’t think anybody should force anything. Because this thing called ‘living in bondage’ is real and many people have gone to their grave very sad people. “So for me, if it’s obvious that people cannot work things out then I don’t think anybody should force themselves to be together.” 2Baba also sparked conversation with his controversial view on male sexuality, saying it is difficult for men to stay sexually faithful to one woman. “I’ll speak for myself, but a man is not built to sexually be with one woman. His heart, love, and respect can be with one woman,” he said. “But sexually, it is impossible for a man. An individual can decide not to go that route but I’m talking about the biology of men. “It has gotten so many people into trouble and it’s a simple fact that you need to accept. Because so many heartache and unnecessary stress will be avoided if we understand this simple fact.” Meanwhile, the “African Queen” singer has since found love again with Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly. The relationship was confirmed in February 2025 after 2Baba proposed to her, marking a new chapter in the singer’s personal life.

In an interview on the 234 Mzansi Podcast, posted on Monday via YouTube, 2Baba clarified that the song, which catapulted him to global fame and played a pivotal role in putting Nigerian music on the world map, was a collaborative effort between him and former bandmate, Blackface. “It’s a collab. Obviously, I love music, but I’ve always loved the arts in general. I’ve always been shy when it comes to acting and this is the first time in my life that I’ve been on camera, and I’m not singing and just acting. “Acting has been amazing. Disney and Pixar just dropped their newest animation, “Elio,” and the numbers are looking bad. Since June 20, the movie has only made about $35 million worldwide — that’s a record low for Pixar. The film tells the story of Elio, a kid obsessed with space and aliens, touching on themes like childhood and social isolation. But even with a fresh original story (not a remake or sequel), ticket sales in the first 3 days were just $21 million. Pixar reacted on Instagram with a snarky video telling people to stop complaining about the lack of original stories if they don’t show up to support them. One woman said in the video: “Stop complaining that Disney doesn’t make original stories if you don’t show up to movie theaters and support them in the first place. Who… who said that? Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only one in my car. But anyway, there’s a new original story. Look at that, from Disney-Pixar, called Elio. You should go ahead and support it, it comes out this Friday so yeah, you should go to the movie theater, thank you.” But many commenters fired back, saying: “Maybe actually market the movie then ”“Some marketing would’ve helped… but yes it deserves way better; it’s such a good movie!!” “I think what drove people away from this one was reusing that same animation style. So many people are wanting something different and we’ve now gotten it quite a few times with movies and shorts.” “Don’t get me wrong, I’m beyond excited to see this new movie! I think it’s just time to switch up the animation again. Also there was barely any marketing for the movie.” This isn’t the first time Disney has had a flop recently, but they still have hits like the “Lilo & Stitch” live-action remake, which pulled in over $945 million globally. So, what do you think? Is Disney dropping the ball on marketing? Or are people just tired of the same animation style?

Singer and producer Terry G has expressed concern over how veteran entertainers are treated in Nigeria, saying society is often too quick to dismiss those who once shaped the industry. In a recent reflection shared online, the ‘Akpako Master’ questioned the mindset that brands accomplished artists as outdated once they’re no longer in the spotlight. “I hear people say, ‘Your time don pass!’ — and it sounds like brain damage,” he said. “In the West, legends are respected for life. No one calls Jay-Z or Beyoncé outdated. Their impact is honoured.” Terry G, known for his unconventional style and energetic performances in the 2000s, criticised the tendency in Nigeria and other parts of Africa to discard cultural icons rather than preserve their legacy. “But here in Africa, especially Nigeria, we’re quick to discard our own. That’s why we believe our ancestors were evil, while Western ancestors are seen as gods. It’s time to break free from that mindset,” he added. He also noted that sustaining relevance requires intentional effort and continuous value creation, regardless of past achievements. “If you don’t keep adding value to yourself and those around you, your worth will fade no matter how great you once were,” he said. He concluded with a call for a cultural shift: “We must do better.”

Veteran Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, has fired back at online trolls who shame people for aging, especially the younger ones (mostly men) who throw around terms like "old woman" as insults. In a now-viral video, Kate made it clear that growing older is not something to be mocked, but a blessing that many don’t get to enjoy. She asked an important question: “Do you people want to die young?” Because the same people who celebrate long life on birthdays are the ones who turn around and use “old” as a slur. She called this behavior ignorant and hypocritical. "Nobody can shame me. Nobody." Kate said she has zero tolerance for such nonsense and emphasized that she won’t let society’s standards dictate how she should look, act, or live just because of age. She described age-shaming as a tired, outdated insult, and reminded her viewers that many people pray daily to reach the age she has. She also touched on how maturity gives you a kind of freedom that’s rare — a superpower to live truthfully and unapologetically. She didn’t stop there. She questioned the idea of “society” setting rules on how people should dress or behave after a certain age. “Who made you the principal, judge and jury?” she asked. Henshaw stressed that “ageism is dead” and the only people bothered by age are those who are insecure. Instead of seeking validation from people who barely know you, she encouraged everyone to: ✨ Face God. Face yourself. Be honest with who you are. ✨ Stop living for people. Life is short. ✨ Stand in your truth, your power, your awesomeness. Her final words hit hard: “God didn’t create us as a WhatsApp group. We’re all individuals—separate, but awesome all the same.” Wait till you see what [other celebs have been up to this week] 👀🔥 From clapbacks to red carpet drama — we’ve got it all! 👉 Check signature to catch the latest celebrity buzz!

Squid Game Season 3 enlisted an Academy Award–winning actor to help drive home a point: There truly is no stopping the games. Cate Blanchett cameos in the final scene of the hit Korean thriller as a recruiter for the deadly titular competition. “We thought having a woman as a recruiter would be more dramatic and intriguing,” says Squid Game Director Hwang Dong-hyuk. “And as for why Cate Blanchett, she’s just the best, with unmatched charisma. Who doesn’t love her? So we were very happy to have her appear. We needed someone who could dominate the screen with just one or two words, which is exactly what she did.” Hwang continues, “If Gong Yoo is the Korean Recruiter, I thought she would be the perfect fit as the American Recruiter, bringing a short but gripping and impactful ending to the story.” Picking up in the wake of a failed revolution, Season 3 continues to chronicle the physical and philosophical struggle between Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who’s determined to take down the dehumanizing games once and for all, and Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who desperately wants to break Gi-hun’s faith in humanity. In the aftermath of that battle of wills — and the last scene of the show — Front Man finds himself in a car in Downtown Los Angeles, and while stopped at a light, he hears some familiar sounds: the thwap of two ddakji tiles hitting the ground followed by the sharp crack of a slap across the face. Front Man rolls down his window and sees a suited Blanchett playing ddakji with a seemingly desperate man in an alleyway. Blanchett looks up and exchanges a knowing glance with Front Man, who pulls away as Blanchett’s attention returns to her recruit, who insists on playing again — because of course he does. Director Hwang was impressed with what Blanchett did with such limited screen time. “During the shoot, she reminded me of what true talent looks like. Even with just a few looks and lines, her performance was mesmerizing,” he says. “She was amazing at playing ddakji. I believe she successfully flipped the ddakji with her first try, and we were able to get that one long take right away.” For his part, Lee Byung-hun thinks the final scene is “truly an ending that fits the [show’s] name.” “Personally, I interpret it as, despite all of the noble efforts of so many people, the world still continues as it was before,” he says. Maybe there are some games you can’t win.

Controversial comedian DeeOne has stated that not being social media-savvy is affecting the brands of some Nigerian celebrities like actress Genevieve Nnaji. He claimed that celebrities with mysterious personalities don’t trend on social media and rarely make the news. To buttress his point, the reality star claimed that popular TikToker Peller is more relevant in the Nigerian internet space than Genevieve Nnaji. Speaking in a recent episode of Pulse’s Hot Takes podcast, DeeOne said, “Genevieve not talking much on social media is not helping her. Genevieve not posting on social media every time is reducing her brand. Let me rephrase it — anybody who is not posting constantly is not top of mind. “What makes her [Genevieve] different from other actresses? Number one from when? Since which year? Peller right now is more relevant on the internet space in Nigeria than Genevieve Nnaji.” Stay updated on all the latest Naija celebrity drama and trending news in on our Real Talk Lounge in Signature👇

A hot take from Apoorva Govind, CEO of Bestever, has gone viral, pulling over 10 million views on X (formerly Twitter), and it’s shaking up conversations on modern dating. Reacting to a Wall Street Journal article titled “American women have never been this resigned to staying single,” Govind claimed many single women in their 30s are looking for the perfect man that doesn’t exist. Her words: “All my friends still single in their 30s? They’re hunting unicorns. Somewhere along the line, a man stopped being just a man. Now he has to be your therapist, best friend, passionate lover, father of the year, financial provider, and probably a mind reader. All wrapped in one fine package.”She blamed media and dating apps for feeding unrealistic expectations, adding that the abundance of matches makes it seem like there are endless good options—when in reality, commitment and flings run on two very different rules. Her advice? Stop focusing on height, abs, or vibes. Look for a man with core values, financial compatibility, and long-term potential. This hot take has split the internet. Some say she's right, others say she's oversimplifying.
