Family80-year-old man imprisons 70-year-old Wife Over Alleged poisoning by DyshApp(op): 8:10pm On May 11, 2025
An unusual domestic saga has unfolded in Abia State, where an 80-year-old man allegedly served his wife divorce papers, sparking outrage and disbelief within the local community.

The incident was brought to public attention by Ochiegbu Marvelous, a human rights advocate on Facebook, who intervened after the 70-year-old woman was reportedly detained by the police on the orders of her husband.

According to Marvelous, the man accused his wife of attempting to poison him five years ago, and used the allegation to have her taken into custody.

In a post shared on social media, Marvelous narrated the bizarre sequence of events:

“80-year-old man from my village served his wife of 70 years divorce papers last week from the high court in Abia. Their first son is in his 40s.”

He revealed that he and his team were able to secure the woman’s release from the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Abia State.

Marvelous further alleged that the man sold off 20 plots of land in an apparent effort to “show his wife pepper.” Matters escalated when their son challenged his father over the situation, only for the father to allegedly include his son’s name in a petition, labelling him a kidnapper.

“I don’t really know the person engineering this, but I’m disappointed.
Accusing someone with no questionable character of being a kidnapper is just too much,” Marvelous wrote.

He praised officers at the State SCIID for their professionalism and swift handling of the case, saying they kept his team well-informed throughout the ordeal.

CelebritiesNigerian Celebrities Slay The 2025 Met Gala – Tems, Burna Boy, Chimamanda & More by DyshApp(op): 11:10pm On May 08, 2025
Once again, Nigerians made us proud on the global stage — this time at the 2025 Met Gala in New York City!

Our stars didn't just attend the world’s biggest fashion night, they owned it! Afrobeats stars Tems, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr were in attendance, alongside literary queen Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and celebrity fashion designer Swanky Jerry.

The theme this year was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” — a tribute to Black excellence in fashion, culture, and creativity. And trust Nigerians to show up and show out!

Tems rocked a stunning Aso-Ebi inspired outfit with a modern twist — repping Naija like royalty.
Burna Boy wore a custom-made outfit by Ghanaian-British designer Ozwald Boateng and called it “specially made.” The guy even trended after a video of him chilling with UK rapper Central Cee went viral!
Ayra Starr brought her “sabi girl” energy in a bold but elegant floor-length dress that turned heads.
Chimamanda Adichie was a vision in red! She was even part of the official 2025 Met Gala host committee — now that’s legendary.
Swanky Jerry came through dripping in culture, rocking a bold Deji & Kola design and reminding the world that African fashion is nothing to play with.
Even American-Nigerian actress Ayo Edebiri paid homage to her roots with a look inspired by Benin heritage — blending African pride with Western elegance.

The Met Gala, held every first Monday in May, is the biggest night in fashion and is led by Vogue's Anna Wintour. But this year? Nigerians really stole the spotlight!

What do you think about the looks? Whose outfit was your fave?

FamilyLady Calls Out Younger Sister Over Affair With Her Lover by DyshApp(op): 9:21pm On May 05, 2025
A Kenyan lady, Akinyi Hellen, has shared her story of alleged betrayal by her younger sister, whom she described as “jealous.”

She wrote …

“How do people deal with jealous sisters? This lady is my younger sister. We share the same mum. I’m 13 years older than her. So I’ve always considered her like my daughter

“A lot happened during my teenage days and our parents separated. I decided to take my siblings and live with them. I educated my sister until she graduated.

My sister repaid me by sleeping with my man. That’s why I low-key hate marriage because part of me feel men are just evil people. Who does that? I forgave my sister but then her jealousy continued growing each day. She recruited her friends to hate me. On my face she acted innocent, very soft spoken but behind the scenes, she told people I was an evil sister.

I started using sea salt October last year and by December my sister couldn’t hide the hatred she had towards me anymore. I had even paid for a vacation in Mombasa and I ended up leaving her there.

Recently, she was all over texting the father of my kid asking for money and I let it slide. She made it a habit and I had to put a stop to that nonsense. This lady is now very salty trying to ruin everything for me.

When I say I don’t want kids anymore. I don’t want my daughter to go through the bullshit I go through in the name of siblings. What do I do to this lady? I’m posting here because I got no family to share this with. I’m a loner.”

RomanceOutrage As Lady Reveals Man Paid Her Rent Just Two Days After Meeting Him by DyshApp(op): 5:26pm On May 05, 2025
A young Nigerian lady has sparked a wave of mixed reactions on social media after revealing that a man she met only two days ago paid her rent in full.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), user @jessicdutchess_ shared her astonishment at the unexpected generosity. According to her, the man offered to settle her rent after a long and deep conversation during which the topic came up naturally.

“This man paid my rent after two days of knowing him. We spent almost 20 hours together speaking about things. I don’t even know how we spoke about my rent, but he just asked how much do I pay and I told him. When he dropped me off, he gave me a stack,” she wrote.

The post quickly went viral, triggering a flurry of reactions from users who either questioned the nature of the relationship or criticised the situation as transactional.

@CHace_gemini commented sarcastically, “He was like: Oh, so have you paid your rent for the month/year? Don’t worry I’ll sort that out. Oye Olorun.”

Another user, @snowbtc001, criticised the claim of a budding romance: “’After two days of knowing’ 😂 You guys weren’t dating, ma’am. How do you start dating a man just after two days? May your brother do such for women he just met.”

RomanceLady Rejects Lavish Wedding For N18M Capital, Then Kneels To Receive Ring by DyshApp(op):
Na wa oh! Social media is buzzing after popular skincare vendor Marymic finally had her white wedding on Saturday, May 3, 2025 — and one dramatic moment has set tongues wagging!

Some months ago, Marymic revealed that her man gave her two options:

A big, flashy wedding Or N18 million to invest in her skincare business

Guess what? She chose the money!

They quietly did a moderate traditional wedding back then. But this weekend, they sealed it with a grand white wedding that got many people talking — not just for the glam, but for one major thing she did.

During the ring exchange, instead of stretching out her hand like most brides, Marymic shocked everyone by going on her knees in her sparkling white gown to receive her ring!

Some people are hailing her for showing humility and respect. Others are saying it’s unnecessary or “doing too much.”

Let’s be honest — how many ladies today would:

1.Pick capital over an Instagram-worthy wedding?

2.Kneel down publicly in their wedding gown just to receive a ring?

What do you think?

Was kneeling for her husband a deep sign of respect or just drama?

Did she make the right call by choosing N18M over a lavish wedding?

Would you do the same?

Drop your thoughts below. Let's reason this matter like mature Nigerians.

FamilyChimamanda Adiche Reveals How She Had Twin Boys At 47 by DyshApp(op): 12:25pm On May 02, 2025
Popular Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, recently shared some deep truths on the #WithChude podcast live edition. She spoke on how society puts too much pressure on women when it comes to fertility and childbirth.

According to her, women carry unnecessary shame when they face issues like fibroids or difficulty getting pregnant. She even revealed that she had her twin boys through surrogacy and spoke about how many women are silently battling these issues because of the fear of judgment.

In her words: “There is so much shame around issues of fertility... I just think it’s too much of a burden for women.”

This is a powerful reminder that everyone’s journey is different, and as a society, we need to stop making women feel like they’ve failed just because their path to motherhood isn’t “conventional.”

What do you think? Why is there still so much shame around fertility issues in Nigeria?

CelebritiesHow Football Is Giving These Female Prisoners A Fresh Start by DyshApp(op): 11:33am On May 02, 2025
Imagine going to prison and coming out not just with regrets, but with a professional coaching license!
That’s exactly what’s happening in Sierra Leone right now.

Thanks to a groundbreaking program called Football for Reform, launched by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), 26 female inmates at Freetown Female Correctional Centre recently completed a coaching course and earned CAF-accredited D licenses. Five police officers also joined the program.

One of the inmates, Marie (not her real name), shared how much the opportunity changed her life. In her words:

"Life in prison right now, the only thing you need is respect. When you have respect, it's like you are not in prison."
The goal of the program is simple: give these women hope, dignity, and real career opportunities after prison.
And it’s already spreading! After the success in Sierra Leone, similar programs have been introduced in Ghana and Liberia too.

At Dysh, we covered this powerful story in detail and shared more on how football is literally transforming lives behind bars.

What do you think about programs like this? Should Nigeria adopt something similar in our prisons?

Politics"Sorry For Having Dignity" – Natasha Akpoti Apologizes To Akpabio Over Harassmen by DyshApp(op): 8:55pm On Apr 28, 2025
The drama between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio has taken another twist. After accusing Akpabio of harassment earlier this year, Natasha has now made a bold public statement, saying, “Sorry for having dignity.”

Quick backstory:
Last year, during a Senate session, Akpabio interrupted Natasha when she tried to speak, telling her, “This is not a nightclub.” The comment sparked outrage across the country, with many accusing him of being sexist and disrespectful. Under pressure, Akpabio later apologized to her on the Senate floor.

The situation escalated in early 2025 when Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of sexual harassment. She alleged that Akpabio had made inappropriate advances, including suggesting that a motion she was advocating could proceed if she "took care" of him, and inviting her to spend time at his residence. Akpabio denied these allegations.

Akpoti-Uduaghan submitted a petition to the Senate detailing her claims. However, the Senate's ethics committee dismissed the petition on procedural grounds, citing that it was improperly filed. Subsequently, the Senate suspended her for six months without pay, citing "unruly and disruptive" behavior during an unrelated incident. This suspension was met with criticism from women's rights groups and civil society organizations, who viewed it as an attempt to silence her and a setback for gender equality in Nigerian politics

In a move that combined defiance with satire, Akpoti-Uduaghan issued a public apology to Akpabio, stating

“Dear Distinguished Senate President Godswill Akpabio, It is with the deepest sarcasm and utmost theatrical regret that I tender this apology for the grievous crime of possessing dignity and self-respect in your most exalted presence.

“I have reflected extensively on my unforgivable failure to recognise that legislative success in certain quarters is apparently not earned through merit, but through the ancient art of compliance — of the very personal kind.

“How remiss of me not to understand that my refusal to indulge your… “requests” was not merely a personal choice, but a constitutional violation of the unwritten laws of certain men’s entitlement. Truly, I must apologize for prioritizing competence over capitulation, vision over vanity, and the people’s mandate over private dinners behind closed doors.

“I now realize the catastrophic consequences of my actions: legislation delayed, tempers flared, and the tragic bruising of egos so large they require their own postcodes. For this disruption to the natural order of “quid pro quo,” I bow my head in fictional shame.

“Please find it in your magnanimous heart — somewhere buried deep beneath layers of entitlement — to forgive this stubborn woman who mistakenly believed that her seat in the Senate was earned through elections, not erections. I remain Yours in eternal resistance, Senator Natasha H Akpoti Uduaghan Unafraid, Unbought, and Unbroken.”

CelebritiesNigerian Women Date For Survival, Not Romance” – Erigga Drops Bombshell by DyshApp(op): 10:43pm On Apr 25, 2025
Popular Nigerian rapper, Erigga, has stirred serious controversy online after claiming that most Nigerian women don’t date for love — they date for survival.

In his usual blunt style, Erigga posted on social media saying:
"If na because e get money make you date am, na still prostitution – no vex!"

According to him, many relationships today are transactional, with love taking the backseat while financial gain drives the connection. He even went as far as saying:
"90% of women don’t marry who they love, they marry who is ready."

Erigga believes that relationships these days are more about solving problems — especially financial ones — and less about genuine emotional connection.

As expected, his take didn’t sit well with everyone. Some people are agreeing with him, saying he just voiced the harsh reality of our society. Others are dragging him, saying he’s generalizing and disrespecting women who truly love their partners.

Is Erigga saying the cold truth, or is he just chasing clout?

Let’s talk — are relationships in Nigeria more about survival than love?
