Culture / Street Carnival Or Street Mayhem? by e9teen(m): 11:16pm On Dec 30, 2013
OK,I searched for the best section to post this and I settled for culture,my reason been that this street carnival thing has been like a norm in our todays society.
It is very common during the months of December and January to find these hoodlums in various areas blocking roads with all sort of stuffs(bamboo, tyre, etc) to extract money from motorist to finance their rather evil deeds they call carnival.
I call it evil deed because of experiences I have had passing through the venue of these carnivals and they are rather unpleasing. I remember very clearly on the 1st of January,2012 at about 1am,coming back from cross over vigil with my family members in the car, these guys put up quite a show, refusing us passage and when they eventually did, they were hitting the car from all sides.
They do all sort of things in these jamborees, they smoke all sort of weed, drink all sort of drinks and as a friend reported to me three days back one of the party rockers at Adeniyi Jones area had a short gun, displaying it to the pleasure of all.
The straw that broke the camel's back was 2 nights ago at my area, pictures below would show u the damage done. Thank God for the newly constructed bridge connecting my estate, all car users before now in my estate would normally park their cars just at the street where this jamboree took place. It would have been serious gbese. Shops around were bungled, a tailor had his shop visited and all the cloths wey e sew for people to use for new year, bobos pack all the 'ASHO ODUN'.
Heard a young man was killed at one organized in shomolu area.
I think its high time the Nigerian Police Force looks into this and ban the organisation of these carnivals.
Please do share your experience, if you have any.

smileyInteresting topic! My name is Emmanuel,at the brink of graduation from the Noble department of Estate Management,University of Nigeria,Nsukka. Having gone through the best hands for 5yrs cum my 6months Industrial Training am well equipped for the realty bizness. My story(grin which ll be 1 of success soon) started when ASUU started showing off few months back. Went home, lagos with the hope of putting up with an Estate firm, but mehn,no job! Just then decided to start something on my own. Registered a real estate coy(KIEO Realties) with CAC. As fate ll have it I got a 4no,3bdrm flat at Ikorodu to superintend over for the olopa landlord, though its still under construction but ll be ready by January. God had his way as I was contacted by sleek studios who built a mall at the heart of Victoria Island to help source tenants. I waka lagos ehn! Chaii! But glory to God I got for them 3clients,2paid the rent and my fee(good money) the other 1 na alaroro. I quickly use the money print business cards for me and my partners of KR,print letter heads and other logistics to help the bizness grow cos that's the only investment I can think of. 3 landlords called to give me their ppties to sell. Na now wey UNN kon call us to come defend project, quickly packed my baggage and ran to Enugu where I am at the moment. When am done with the defence am heading back to lagos to market the properties in my portfolio, thinking of placing an advert on castle magazine.
No vex say my own story long o! Just couldn't help but to share it all. Real Estate,Real Business.

Education / An Analysis Of Road Pricing (tolls) For Management Of Concession In Nigeria by e9teen(m): 2:19pm On Mar 18, 2013
Good day Nairalanders,am a final year student of Estate Management carrying out a research work on the above stated topic. The aim is to analyse how road pricing (toll) can be used to manage road concession in Nigeria, reviewing cases outside the country, lekki epe expressway toll zone and other similar schemes in Nigeria. Then make appropriate findings and recommendations in its application on other highways in Nigeria. I would really appreciate any information that can help in the research.

Indeed Williams Shakespeare said it right when he noted in 1 of his books that 'hell is empty, all the devils are here on earth'
My early years in Lagos were filled with such gory sights of pple resorting to cruel jungle justice to serve as precedent to conflict resolution, including that of a 12yr old dragged on the streets of Ojota and later set ablaze. Haven clocked 52 nd such is still d order of d day with people filled with hatred for neighbours,am afraid Nigeria is but a failed Nation.
Watching the video of the slained Aluu 4 has filled me with so much sorrow that word will fail me to express,in my heart rest an unimaginable sorrow. If i feel dis way,wat abt dose closest to dem?i jst pray d good lord grants them the comfort to bear such loss.
Injury to 1 is Injury to all! We must all stand tall and see this as an avenue for public protest over the insecurity situation all over the country.
RIP Aluu 4.
