ivandragon: those who want to stay away are free to do so...
if my memory serves me right, the highest percentage of voter turn in Nigeria is about 42%...
so people not turning out in numbers won't be anything new or revolutionary except of course voter turnout is less than 10%... now that would be an eyebrow raiser...
but forcing voters to stay home should not be permitted... Of course, intimidating or forcing them to stay away is a No No. But if the voter apathy is less than 10% as you said, then the politicians may sit up and take the masses seriously next time. |

ivandragon: I think they have, whatever relevance they have now is the momentum from the early part of the agitation when the group was putting its message across in a fairly intelligent & fact based manner...
the moment they started insulting other tribes/ethnic groups, boasting, issued threats & turned kanu into a tingod, the struggle deviated from its noble trajectory... The bold. That was Kanu. But concerning this election, I think the masses should stay away. It's high the political class earn the respect and admiration of the masses. |

EricIyke: Am not an IPOB member but that doesn't mean I shouldn't support them. I won't sabotage nor betray the struggle, its all stage by stage. Lets try this one first and see. I don't wanna be among those that castigated Nnamdi Kanu but never came up with any other strategy or idea. Have you not been voting for years? We've been voting but nothing has changed. We've tried voting, it didn't work, lets try boycotting. The man you are arguing with benefits from the current government. So it's in his interest to see that his principal wins. But like I said earlier, this election should concern the political class, the political jobbers, their families and friends. They should go out there and exercise their franchise. Afterall they benefit hugely from skewed system. |

Politics › Re: Photos:ipob No Election Campaign Hits Streets And Villages In Anambra by eagleeye2: 5:04pm On Nov 12, 2017 |
ivandragon: ipob are contradicting themselves & the relevance of their struggle has been corrupted...
if you are agitating from a society where your rights & freedoms are valued & respected, why then are you threatening others who have a different view of things?
or is it a matter of 'my way being the only way'?
you claim to fight for freedom, but you don't want others to be free...
ipob should just take a back seat & reinvent itself...
it has lost relevance & is now under the influence of miscreants... I agree with you, that they shouldn't force or threaten anybody who actually want to vote. But saying they have lost relevance is far from the truth. Enugu LG election should have corrected that impression. To the topic, I am of the opinion that it's high time the political class and the family fight amongst themselves for who should rule or not. Let the masses take a back seat while those who benefits most from winning elections go out there and vote in whomever they want. Maybe things may actually change. |

Partnerbiz: Yes you pay all.
After expiration of your tenancy, you will now pay what they call mesne profit.
Mesne profit is equivalent to rent.
Btw, put yourself in your Landlord's shoes ooo.. u no wan pay rent abi? You were the only one that mentioned Mesne profit. I was already thinking that Nairalanders are daft. Back to topic. A landlord does not run a charity home. So any day spent in his premises is meant to be paid for and no court in Nigeria will ask a tenant not to pay. Mesne profit is the money you pay to your landlord for the duration of your quit notice or while you are in court trying to get more grace period or while looking for another place to stay. |

Boycott or not, someone will emerge winner. But what those advocating for boycott are saying, whether they vote or not there isn't going to be a change in the way things are done. Thus, let's boycott this election, and let the political class slug it out among themselves. In simple terms, let the best rigger emerge winner and take all the bounty. |
Politics › Re: The Significance Of Anambra Election Boycott. by eagleeye2: 10:49pm On Nov 04, 2017 |
Unik3030: if u like boycott election n even everything till thy kingdom comes, all I know is that election will hold n a winner must emerge simply because the aspirants must have relatives and well wishers who will come out to vote against all odds. all I see here is an advantage for apc to rig using federal might n install another okorocha in anambra state n that will surely frustrate all ipob agenda in anambra because the new apc governor must satisfy his paymasters. so who is d looser? is it d fg or d igbos? Believe me APC... Winning the Anambra tuber polls will be a wake call to Igbo political class, to start thinking more about their people's interest. |
Politics › Re: The Significance Of Anambra Election Boycott. by eagleeye2: 10:47pm On Nov 04, 2017 |
Initially I didn't support this election boycott of a thing. But then, whether the masses vote or not, things are not likely to change. So let these guys boycott the elections and let the political class struggle among themselves for who will win. Maybe, just maybe, things might change. I will even be happy if a Party like APC.... wins in Anambra so that Enugu, Ebonyi, and Abia political class may know that their people's interest really matter. It's just shameful that the Nigerian Army will lay siege in Igbo land and non of the leaders will ask questions. |
