konoplyanka: have you forgotten that he was jailed for corruption? And how can I forget that his principal Alh. Shehu Shagari was placed on HOUSE ARREST. |

TWoods: 1. Saying someone is pan Nigerian is the same as saying that someone is breathing air. It is a meaningless statement that adds zero value to anyone.
2. He selflessly fought for return of democracy how? We only got democracy because Abacha died of natural causes, simple. I find it odd that you say he "didn't bother" after he lost the PDP presidential ticket. So was he "fighting for the return of democracy" because he cared for us or because he was more interested in achieving high office again so he could enrich himself? So it would be ok for him to not fight for democracy unless there is some political office he could gain? Strange.
3. Ekwueme may not have enriched himself, but he did nothing to fight for better living conditions for you either.
4. Staying true to character is another one of those empty statements that convey nothing of substance. True heroes are remembered for tangible achievements that impact the lives of others, not for "Staying true to character" as if the rest of us are staying false to character. In one breath you just accused him of looting pensions and now he didn't enrich himself? I told you earlier that your Hatred will consume you. |

TWoods: My brother, at what point do we start to learn our lessons and stop this superstitious nonsense? Speaking the truth isnt the same as speaking bad. Alex looted your pension so he can treat himself in london, only to die anyway. What happens when you fall sick? You start shopping around for miracles because you're too poor to afford common drugs? Look at what you just spewed because of hatred. How, when and where was Alex Ekwueme ever associated with Pensions or looting? A man who left government over 33 years ago and has been out of government ever since. How in your dreams did he commit the crime of pension looting? |

TWoods: Oh so he has no legacy other than that he's died? Shame then... sorry, RIP is the most meaningless word of all time. It does zero to help the dead. It's simply a feel good piece of noise that people throw around then promptly forget. For a minute let me agree with you. But you came into this thread attacking Alex Ekwueme as if he stole personally from you. I will like to know why you had that view of him? |
Politics › Re: Ex-vice President Alex Ekwueme Is Dead by eagleeye2: 6:47am On Nov 20, 2017 |
TWoods: Please list his legacies as VP. I'll wait... breaking glass ceilings does not count. This thread is about a man passing on. Some of us feels RIP is in order, but you saints believe that we should all hate the man and shun RIPs. So lists the reasons why you think he is part of the rut in the system? |

TWoods: I think you're thick to be honest... you don't seem to have read the Rick Warren blurb that you quoted - let me explain to you... i don't hate you simply because i criticize your lack of integrity, incompetence, corruption and complete indifference to the plight of the common man. Please lists Alex Ekwueme's sins as a second republic vice president? |
Politics › Re: Ex-vice President Alex Ekwueme Is Dead by eagleeye2: 6:42am On Nov 20, 2017 |
anonimi: Let me help you out. The death of anyone is an opportunity for those remaining alive to review his life and take lessons therefrom. Shipping an 85 year old man to London to essentially die is a waste that characterised the life of Alex Ekwueme and his politics with Shehu Shagari, NPN, PDP etc. It is because of his bad choices and not being principled ENOUGH to raise the consciousness of others that many Anambrarians are dying on their way in Libya or being sold as slaves as they try to escape poverty inflicted by Alex Ekwueme & co. I hope that you get it now instead of shouting hatred upandan. He was taken to London with his family's money. Please let this rest. Alex has been out of power for over 33 years and the man who took over power from then has been invited back to rule again. List the sins of Alex if you are really reviewing his life? |

TWoods: You don't want to hear what i have to say about Buhari... lets wait till he dies too. Say it now that he is still living. The dead can do nothing anymore, but the living can still change and amend their ways. |
Politics › Re: Ex-vice President Alex Ekwueme Is Dead by eagleeye2: 6:21am On Nov 20, 2017 |
TWoods: Oh please cut it with the incoherent blather. I have consistently called out the "political elite" of which Ekwueme was a key player. He happens to be the subject of this thread, which is why i mention his name... it could be anyone else. One would think you would be smart enough to have figured that out. He is dead. Now channel that hatred to the elites who are still living and ruining this country. People like Buhari, Osibanjo, OBJ, etc. |
Politics › Re: Ex-vice President Alex Ekwueme Is Dead by eagleeye2: 6:19am On Nov 20, 2017 |
TWoods: Like humanity cares about a people who either don't realize when they are being openly raped by a rapacious elite or don't care because they themselves have the same mindset. Keeping quiet is why you're being sold as slaves in Libya in 2017... and you're pretending that everything is ok. When it comes to Buhari being in London for months, we see people from somewhere justifying that wastage. But an old man who just passed away in the same London and not funded by the FG as it should have been, is being blamed because he is from a certain part of the country where it's normal to lay all the blame. |
Politics › Re: Ex-vice President Alex Ekwueme Is Dead by eagleeye2: 6:15am On Nov 20, 2017 |
TWoods: If being the vice president is being a useless figurehead then why are we here pretending like he was anything consequential and that he did anything to advance our cause? Nigerians are bandwagon RIP greetings. How many vice presidents have you and your likes blamed for the rut in the country or you want to start with Alex? He broke the glass ceiling placed on his tribe to become the number two man in this country. It is important to us. And he was a respected voice in Igbo land at least. So whatever hate you have in your heart, doesn't change the fact that it's your hatred and don't use it to infect this thread. |

TWoods: The point isn't whether old age is good or not... the point is why are we falsely lionizing someone who never cared for any of us? This is why Nigeria is never going to progress... here is a guy who had the chance to change our nation for the better, but he prefered to loot the public till so he can treat himself in London while you and i deal with fake drugs in Nigeria... and all you can say is old age is a blessing? He is the reason many Nigerians will never get to old age. He was just the VICE PRESIDENT. Please channel your anger to the President then Shehu Shagari. |

laudate: You have been out of circulation in Lagos, and your visit has been restricted to specific parts of Lagos. Instead of those brief periodic annual visits, stay in Lagos for several months at a stretch. What men do you have running things in APC Lagos? Akoka Yaba does not reflect the whole of Lagos.
Listen, I have spent many years living, working and studying in different parts of Lagos and I am still impressed by the changes made by the Fashola-Ambode administration. I only listed a few for you. Talk to different residents who have lived in Lagos continuously over the past 10 -15 years and ask them for their opinions. You Win |

laudate: Whether you grade Tinubu higher than Fashola, or lower.... It doesn't make a difference. At least, both of them improved the fortunes of Lagos state. If the residents of Lagos, had decided to boycott elections, would these men have been voted in to change the state? Given Nigerian ranking, Fashola, Ambode and some of the APC governors are trying, at least better than South East governors. But, we deserve better. |

laudate: Same for Akpabio. Without him, Akwa Ibom would not have an airport, stadium, great roads etc, that they can boast of today. In the past his people were known for providing most of the houseboys and house girls in Nigeria, but all that one has changed. Go to Uyo and talk to the residents, before coming back in here to share your views. Come to Ikot Ekpene axis of Abia, Uyo indigenes have graduated to riding bikes and Tricycles. Uyo is our neighbors. I will even grade Tinubu higher than Fashola, because despite what he saw in the hands of OBJ he was able to lay a lasting foundation for his people. |

Same for Akpabio. I schooled in Lagos. Spent over 10 years of my life in Lagos before relocating back to the east and still frequent Lagos regularly. I have been to Uyo severally, and like i said before we have been so abused in this country that we will gladly accept mediocre as our Messaiah |

laudate: The right person is not there because your people have refused to search for him ABD support him, to get into power. How come states like Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Kebbi etc, have been able to get governors like Fashola, Ambode, Akpabio, Donald Duke, Bagudu etc , to pilot the affairs of their states, and improve their infrastructure? You think it was by boycotting elections? Of all the names you mentioned above, I believe Donald Duke is the only one i can give a pass mark. Like someone said elsewhere, standards differ. We have so adapted to mediocrity that we don't know any better. |
