repeat again is tautology. Cutting down on sugar intake is different from cutting sugar out entirely. The body still needs a certain quantity of sugar to function.

For me, how accurate are these digital health machines compared to the manual. Especially the BP scanner.

Exactly what I told them at the drugstore few days ago. Manual reading with a stethoscope is far more accurate than this digital whatever. Lazy health professionals don't want to pass thru the hassle of using a stethoscope.

I believe in regular BP and blood sugar checs. However, i have noticed there is a lot of faulty BP monitors around. Even if you are told you have high readings, do another check. For example, in the picture attached, the man's heartbeat shows 106. Why should a resting heart rate be 106? Except the man had just exercised before checking his BP.

Anyway, people should learn to double check. I once called out a hospital for saying I had high BP. My BP machine at home gives me a steady average reading and the hospital's BP showed my BP was high. On my next visit to that hospital, they had changed their BP machine. Imagine how many people are taking unnecessary BP medication because of fauty readings.

That being said, know your numbers, so that you can detect a faulty reading when given. Do your checks regularly.

you are very right. That's how my mum took bp medicine because of a wrong reading from a nurse neighbour. That night my mum nearly passed as she suffered hypotension. It is only by God's grace that she survived that crisis. Faulty readings are another death threat. Don't even rush to start taking bp drugs because that is another sentence on it's own, rather amend your lifestyle.

What of daily exercise? What of buying a BP monitor and bathroom scale? Prevention is better than cure is not just a saying, it is a mantra. Many are in this thread chanting health is wealth while they consumed green and brown bottles earlier in the evening.

one bottle of beer is ok but more than that is an abuse. Exercise should be regular and sedentary lifestyle should be avoided. Lot's of fruit and zero processed food except stuff like sardine. Whole meal is top of the list and of course regular check ups.

Yes, I did something to my diet. No bread, very minimal soft drinks, I eat early, no late night meals. I trek a lot too. Those things are not easy to do because there will be relapses but you gotta keep your focus on your goals. I even lost some weight, though not much.

I have cut out all processed food since. Only bread occasionally pass thru my mouth. No fries unless homemade with "safe" cooking oil. I trek, do strength training, eat a lot of fruits, no sugar, eat beans more often, cut down on beef, soft drinks are only administered when I run very low on sugar in order to avoid passing out, and the list goes on.

Something like a Health Day was organised by my church and the medical personnels were checking vitals. I decided to check and it was 175/100 or something. Alarming! The nurse said if it were in the hospital that I checked, they would've admitted me straight. Meanwhile, In my body, I felt nothing. I felt healthy, I was even hurrying them cause I wan go minister upstairs. Irony!

After the check, they counseled me and gave drugs. You know what I did? The drugs that were specifically BP drugs, I didn't use them. I am too young to be on BP drugs cause they said once I start, I can't stop!

Now, I still don't use BP drugs but it's normalised by itself. I still checked last week. The idea is to keep checking.
