any form of rigging will be resisted. Ademola Adeleke is winning in landslide victory. By evening period the INEC will announce the winner. Almost all the local government results are collated.

Politics / At Least 86 Killed In Twin Bombings In Turky Near Train Station by Earthwide: 4:29pm On Oct 10, 2015
(CNN) -- In an address to the nation, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called for three days of national mourning after Saturday's deadly bombing in Ankara. Davutoglu said that two suicide bombers were responsible for the attack, which officials said killed at least 86 people and injured 186. He called for the country to fight terrorism. "This is an attack that does not target a specific group; it is an attack on the entire nation and an attack on our unity. Turkey is a country that has managed to maintain peace in the region," he said.

[Original story published at 10:50 a.m. ET]

Two powerful bombs exploded near the main train station in Ankara on Saturday morning, targeting a peace rally and causing carnarge, killing at least 86 people and injuring 186 others in the deadliest attack in the Turkish capital in recent memory.

The explosion, which caused chaos and bloodshed, took place during a peace march involving, among others, the pro-Kurdish HDP, or People's Democratic Party.

The casualties, reported by the interior ministry, consisted primarliy of people gatherrf outside the main train station to attend a lunchtime demonstration to call for an end to the renewed conflict between the Kurdish PKK organizationa nd the Turkish government.

About 14,000 people were in the area.

The attack also came before national elections scheduled for November 1.

A video on social media showed a ring of young people dancing and singing before an orange blast erupted in the background.

Following the attack, for which no group has claimed responsibility, bodies lay in front of the station on Hipodrum Street and paramedics tended to the injured as a police helicopter circled overhead.

Video showed bodies strewn on sidewalks, with injured people lying on the ground with bystanders trying desperately to help them.

Protest banners and flags littered the ground. Members of the public helped carry the injured to ambulances and buses to take them to hospital.

The blasts were so powerful they shook high-rise office buildings at some distance. The death toll is expected to climb.

Politics / What It Means For Nigeria To Be Kicked Out Of The JP Morgan EM Bond Index by Earthwide: 2:54pm On Sep 09, 2015
http://nairametrics.com/jp-morgan-index-list-of-possible-implications-when-nigeria-is-evetually-kicked-out

Political Capital
The current Buhari Government has been taking credit for some of the policy initiatives carried out by Goodluck Jonathan Government such as stable power, the Treasury Single Account, tax initiatives, war on terror, renewal of strong diplomatic ties with the US etc. The Buhari Government is also not relenting in calling out the past government for its bad policies and alleged corruption. This development will now give critics of the current government, the opposition party and sympathisers of the past government enough armory to blame the current government. They will surely blame the Buhari government for not acting swiftly enough to stop the decision of JP Morgan considering that it issued the threat about 9 months ago. They will also say it is because of the slow mode of operation of the current government (which for example has not announced a cabinet more than 100 days after being in office) that has made the CBN Governor act alone thus portraying the country as one without an economic direction. This will cost the president a lot of political capital as even his supporters must now be jittery.
Bond Yields

When Nigeria borrows money by selling bonds they pay investors based on the on prevailing bond yields. For example, a unit of a bond priced at N1000 may have been originally sold at an interest rate of 10%, that is N100 per N1000. With Nigerian thrown out of the index holders of that bond could dump it and sell for lower than N1000 per paper just to exit. If the average price drops to N800 due to high volume of sellers then that interest rate of 10% is now 12.5%, that is N100 dividend by N800.
This means the next time the Nigerian Government goes out to borrow it will no longer attract a 10% yield but will now borrow from investors at a yield of 12.5% or even more. This will cost the government more money in servicing interest thus taking money it could have used for capital projects for debt servicing.

Lack of foreign demand
By taking Nigeria off the index, there will be little or no demand for our bonds from foreign investors. Already, since JPM threatened to yank Nigerian off back in January, foreign holding of our bonds has dropped from a peak of $11 billion in 2013 to $3 billion today. It is therefore likely that this may even shrink further thus affecting the demand for our debts. A lack of demand for our debts means yields may even get higher as fewer investors will now sought for our bonds
Gain for other emerging markets
With Nigeria out of the scene, other emerging markets in Africa like Ghana, Kenya and even South Africa could now be more attractive to investors. They will simply now move their funds to competing countries leaving Nigeria in its wake. Since investors like to follow the money, it is also likely that other forms of investments may elude Nigeria because of this singular move.
Prestige and Clout
With the above happening, Nigeria will lose its prestige as not just the largest economy in Africa but the economy attracting the most foreign investments. This will be damaging to an economy that has been thumping itself as the destination to be for foreign investors.

Corporate Bonds

Local companies and banks also borrow money from foreign investors by selling foreign denominated bonds and also Naira bonds. Now that the Federal Government is likely to see their borrowing cost go up due to this development, it is likely that banks and other corporates seeking to borrow may have to pay more in interest as well. Some companies may not even have the courage to borrow with bonds again due to high lending rates and may result in some companies gets starved of funds so much that they may start to incur losses or even fold up. For those that have even borrowed refinancing such loans will now be expensive as yields have already gone up.

Higher lending rates
For the banks that are lucky enough to borrow, they will have to pass on that cost to someone else. Small businesses which rely on banks for small loans such as overdrafts, local purchase orders, letters of credit etc. may also see their borrowing rates rise even higher. For individuals with consumer loans they may also be expecting a letter from banks telling them that their loan rates have gone up.

Foreign Currency Cost
It is also likely that foreign currencies will cost more to use due to this action. Holiday makers or business travelers who use their cards abroad for foreign denominated transactions may also see themselves paying more whenever they spend their naira debit cards. Since some banks also channels some of their foreign borrowings in the forex market it is likely that they will charge end users more to recover the higher cost of borrowing.

Shallow market
With the exit of most foreign investors the long term plan of the Debt Management Office of ensuring that our bond market is deep is now in jeopardy. With little demand, it is unlikely that the government and other private companies seeking foreign currency loans will use the bond market as a possible source. This will make the market shallow and unattractive and could even throw some companies out of business. For example, Fund Sourcing Companies, Legal Advisers and other consultants may witness a huge reduction in deals thus affecting their revenues.

Ripple Effect
The Nigerian stock market which has seen some bullish trends in recent days may also be negatively impacted. With this announcement it is likely that this may hurt the confidence of foreign investors which make up about 45 to 50% of transactions in the Nigerian Stock Exchange. If they decide to exit the market because of this then the market may just be primed for another long bearish run.

Devaluation
If this situation is not handled properly it may also trigger another massive devaluation. This could be caused by foreign investors who have had enough and will now use this decision by JPM as a reason to pull out their funds. Pulling out their funds creates demand pressure on forex and may result in a devaluation of some sort.

Any Fraudster that has organized Biafrans in U.S.A to embarrass Buhari at White House, is the baddest.

Any fraudster that can make FG withdraw their statements on bombing of Calabar, after FG boasted of it, is a fraudster that has never been known to man.

Politics / UK Says Falkland Self Determination Is A Universal Right Enshrined In UN Charter by Earthwide: 6:11pm On Jul 27, 2015
UK says Falklands’ self determination is a universal right enshrined in UN charter

The UK will not negotiate the Falklands/Malvinas Islands sovereignty “until the Islander so wish to” said on Wednesday a spokesperson from the Foreign Office.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Falklands conflict when Argentine military invaded the South Atlantic Islands (April 2) to be ousted 74 days later by a British task force, but the exchange between Argentina and the UK has been escalating significantly as the anniversary approaches.

The officer was responding to a question on the Caribbean Community, Caricom, statement agreed last Sunday in the Caribbean island of Grenada which included a 16 points plan, among which a specific support for the Falklands right to self determination.

http://en.mercopress.com/2012/01/25/uk-says-falklands-self-determination-is-a-universal-right-enshrined-in-un-charter

“To support the principle and the right to self determination for all peoples, including the Falkland Islanders, recognising the historical importance of self-determination in the political development of the Caribbean, and its core status as an internationally agreed principle under the United Nations Charter”, said the declaration.

The Caricom move by the Foreign Office is partly seen as an effort to counter the latest support decision for Argentina’s Malvinas sovereignty claim from Mercosur members (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay) agreed last December in Montevideo and which consists in barring Falklands flagged vessels from docking in regional ports.

The Argentine government insists in its sovereignty claim over the Falklands and has adopted a policy of isolating the Islands from South America.

Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & Grenadines, Surinam, Trinidad-Tobago and Montserrat are members of Caricom.

“The relation of the UK with the Overseas Territories is a modern relation based on partnership, shared values and the right to self determination and if they so wish to retain a link with the UK”, pointed out the Foreign Office spokesperson.

And “this is so much valid and true for the Falklands as it is for any other territory”.

“The Falkland Islands are British citizens and will continue to be free to decide on their future, both politically and economically, and all have the right to self-determination enshrined in the UN Charter” indicated the FOC spokesperson.

“Self determination is a universal human right and respect for this right is consecrated in the Charter of the UN as one of the main purposes of the organization”.

The meeting, held in Grenada, was held under the theme “Prosperity Towards Sustainable Growth” and was attended by the UK Government and members of Caricom. Numerous Caribbean Heads of Government and Ministers attended the meeting, with the UK represented by the Foreign Secretary William Hague and Overseas Territories Minister Jeremy Browne as well as Home Office Minister James Brokenshire and Minister of State for International Development Alan Duncan.

Few years back, In the heat of our politicking, some opposition politicians in APC (one of them is a Governor now) were sending false information to the international community about the Nigerian army.

They sent videos of Boko Haram members wearing army uniforms and beheading innocent civilians and the they claimed they were members of the Nigeria armed forces killing innocent civilians. They sent some to amnesty international, thinking they were fighting Jonathan.

Some youths in Yobe beheaded an innocent operative of DSS while those of Bornu were wearing t-shirts with inscriptions like "I love Boko haram". They refused to support the military, they were supporting their brothers. The northern elites weren't left out as they openly and covertly gave support to boko haram thinking it will further their desire to take back the presidency.

Jonathan was confused but tried to be calm.

The Bornu elders brought all sort of charges against the military and Ihejirika while they were shielding boko haram and in fact a leading northern leader once said killing boko haram fighters was injustice to the North.

Petitions fell upon petitions at Amnesty international from the Northern elements. To them, they were doing politics. Jonathan must go and it doesn't matter how we do it, power must just return to the North.

Our military was accused of human rights abuses by Amnesty International while boko haram continues to unleash terror. The military lost credibility and some of our army chiefs were threatened with prosecutions of war crime while no one asks Shekau why he is killing.

United States and her allies were compelled by a particular Leahy law not to sell sophisticated weapons to militaries with human rights abuse tags like the current Nigerian army.

All efforts by the Jonathan administration to lobby US and UK governments to sell weapons to Nigerian military fell on deaf ears while boko haram continued its killing spree in the face of our poorly armed military.

And Jonathan looked eastwards after the south African mess (also courtesy opposition politicians) and found help in China, Parkistan and Russia. But time was against him. The elections are close, the deed is done. The clueless, weak and corrupt tag stuck on him. He was labelled a failure for not being able to protect his citizens. That's politics.

He got the weapons, shifted elections by six weeks amidst all sort of mischievous allegations and the military found its rhythm and in six weeks, boko haram fell and it's armies were chased tail in legs out of sambisa forest.

And he lost the elections despite that.

Now, those who destroyed the Nigerian military in the name of politics have taken over the government. Boko haram is back in full force and those who promised to lead from the front are no where to be found.

Boko haram have been able to regroup and now controls five local governments again and our press who were very active in spreading boko haram gospel back then are suddenly quiet. It was all about Jonathan before now.

The citizens now watch helplessly as the killings continue and those who have the courage to ask questions are labelled as unpatriotic by the idol worshippers who worships men like gods.

The APC led government delegation was in America but to the surprise of some, America bluntly refused to go into arms deal with Nigeria. Those who blackmailed the Nigerian army and accused them of human rights abuses are now the ones begging US to sell arms to them.

And like I wrote yesterday that "those who intend to live in glass houses should not throw stone from their mud houses because karma is a bitch, she respects no one"
----------

Personally, I urge those that created this mess to clean it up. You propagandists that allowed GEJ-hate make you sabotage your own country, please, clean up your mess, I'm not going to clean it up for you, I'm not going to help clean it up for you. Label me whatever you wish, I have no issues with it, just CLEAN YOUR MESS! You are now complaining about Leahy Law? Drag your stupid asses to China and Russia for crissake and stop spoiling our already spoilt name further. Trust me, that last thing you need is U.S. fighting you. Unfortunately, you have started the diplomatic row by blackmailing them on their own soil. No no no no, you made a grave mistake there

These fellows below are the people they deemed fit to represent Nigeria on the U.S. trip, no wonder it failed! Them dey talk say you no get sabitikate, na him you carry a rumored 419ner and another rumored sabitikateless clown follow body. Just look at them! No photoshop, them be like this! Tufiakwa! I don't know between una brainlessness, 419ness, bad human rights record and worworness which drove Obama out off the U.S. But the guy had to escape for his dear life. If na me, I won't stop at Kenya o. Na New Zealand or North Pole I for go take cover. Was Oshiobaba repping Benin witches? As for my efulefu governor, we just lent the U.S. our perpetual court fool!

Politics / Patrick Leahy Blasts Buhari Discrediting American Law by Earthwide: 6:42pm On Jul 24, 2015
Patrick Leahy Blasts Buhari For Discrediting American Law, Calls The Nigerian Military 'Rapists'

“I strongly agree with President Buhari about the need to defeat Boko Haram, and I have supported tens of millions of dollars in U.S. aid to Nigeria for that purpose. But rather than suggest that the United States is at fault for not funding murderers and rapists in the Nigerian military, he should face up to his own responsibility to effectively counter Boko Haram. He should direct his attention to the Nigerian military, and the Nigerian courts, and clean up the units implicated in such atrocities.”

Patrick Leahy – sponsor of the Leahy Law (or Leahy amendment) that prohibits the US Department of State and Department of Defence from providing military assistance to foreign military units that violate human rights with impunity – believes that President Muhammadu Buhari’s opinion of the effect of the law on the war against Boko Haram is “misdirected”. Speaking at the United States Institute for Peace (USIP) on Wednesday, Buhari had lamented that the law “aided and abetted” the campaign of bloodletting of Boko Haram, urging the US government to review it so that it could provide the needed assistance to Nigeria to crush Boko Haram.

“In our efforts at combating the activities of Boko Haram, the new government has sought and obtained the support of not only our neighbours other international friends and partners. Regrettably, the blanket application of the Leahy Law by the United States on the grounds of unproven allegations of human rights violations levelled against our forces has denied us access to appropriate strategic weapons to prosecute the war against the insurgents,” he had said.

“In the face of abduction of innocent school girls from their hostels, indiscriminate bombings of civilians in markets and places of worship, our forces have remained largely impotent because they do not possess the appropriate weapons and technology which they could have had, had the so-called human rights violations not been an obstacle. “Unwittingly, and I dare say, unintentionally, the application of the Leahy law amendment by the U. S. Government has aided and abetted the Boko Haram terrorist group in the prosecution of its extremist ideology and hate, the indiscriminate killings and maiming of civilians, in raping of women and girls, and in their other heinous crimes. I believe this is not the spirit of the Leahy Laws. I know the American people cannot support any group engaged in these crimes.”

Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, subsequently attempted to harp on the innocence of the president’s comment, but Leaahy has now responded, saying neither he nor the law could be blamed for the atrocities committed by the “murderers and rapists in the Nigerian military”.

“It is well-documented by the State Department and by respected human rights organisations that Nigerian army personnel have, for many years, engaged in a pattern and practice of gross violations of human rights against the Nigerian people and others, including summary executions of prisoners, indiscriminate attacks against civilians, torture, forced disappearances and rape.
Rarely have the perpetrators been prosecuted or punished,” he said “This abusive conduct not only violates the laws of war, it creates fear and loathing among the Nigerian people whose support is necessary to defeat a terrorist group like Boko Haram.
“President Buhari ignores the undisputed fact that most Nigerian army units have been approved, under the Leahy Law, for U.S. training and equipment. Only those particular units against which there is credible evidence of the most heinous crimes are ineligible for U.S. aid. And even those units can again become eligible if the Nigerian Government takes effective steps to bring the responsible individuals to justice.

Politics / Obasanjo Set To Expose Buhari by Earthwide: 9:07pm On Jul 23, 2015
Former President Obasanjo is the only one to rightly expose Buhari’s negative past records of public accountability, and “Baba is watching every move and might hit the blogs at the right time with documents that would shock the nation,” a source disclosed.

A reliable source told International Guardian that “Baba is watching every move and might hit the blogs at the right time with documents that would shock the nation.” For instance, Buhari as the chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) between 1998-99, Buhari failed to account for a missing 25 billion naira, confiscating all related documents and obstructing all investigative channels. Buhari’s refusal to corporate with investigators, and again, confiscation of related documents jeopardized any attempt to immediately probe him.

On assumption of office in 1999, Chief Obasanjo disbanded the PTF and found that the funds that accrued to the PTF stood at N 181 billion. It was also found out that the consultants appointed by Gen Buhari as the Executive Chairman had fleeced the country of funds running into billions. In 2000, Obasanjo’s regime set up a provisional committee to probe the affairs where Buhari’s fraudulent activities were blatantly exposed. Information from Obasanjo’s camp thus far indicates that the current drums of war over “who-stole-what” may not look good on the general, it was gathered.

Obasanjo’s dossier also included documents linking key Buhari allies and colleagues in his administration to major fraud related tom other affairs of the government. In a reaction to the current issues, an informant close to Obasanjo’s camp simply told International Guardian’s reporter in Abuja, “Baba dey kampe,” a common phrase about readiness for action, often attributed to Obasanjo.

Tompolo should better NOT embark on a suicide mission, it's a War he can not win.

He is dealing with an ex-Military man as a Commander In Chief of Armed Forces NOT a Former Lecturer of Zoology.

I guess he just wanted to Test-run the 5 or 6 Gun Boats he purchased last year.

There was concern in military circles in the Niger Delta region on Thursday following the planned meeting of leaders of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).

The meeting, slated for Izon House in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, is being convened by MEND leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo.

A terse invitation, a copy of which was made available to our reporter, reads: “My dearly beloved Commanders and Leaders of various wings of the Movement of the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), I greet you all.

“It is my pleasure to humbly invite you to a very crucial and urgent meeting as follows: Venue: Izon House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
“Date (of the meeting is) Saturday, July 25th, 2015. Time (is) 2pm Prompt,” concluded the letter, which was signed with Tompolo signing off with his traditional title – Izon Ibe-Ebidouwei of Izon nation.

Contacted, Tompolo said the meeting was to deliberate on recent developments in Nigeria as well as the fate of the Niger Delta region in the current political dispensation.
Speaking through his media aide, Comrade Paul Bebenimibo, who did not divulge further detail about the meeting, said the MEND leaders would chart a path for the progress of the region.

However, the news agency, The Nation, gathered that the planned meeting is a source of concern for top military commanders in the region. Tompolo, a known supporter of former President Goodluck Jonathan, was the founder of the deadly group that crippled oil production in the region from 2005.

The Nation also gathered that he was placed under security watch following the defeat of Jonathan in the March 28 presidential election. The former militant leader had maintained a low profile since after the election and subsequent inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29.
