Well your competition charges far less. The average domain name, .com. .net, .org etc cost an equivalent of N1,600 or less. That's a fraction of what one would pay for a .ng domain name. What's so special about a .ng that it cost 3 times as much? |
Why would you put the title as you are being harassed? Looks like you're the one getting ideas in your head. If the noise too much for you, leave now. YOu come off as a horndog and a potential home wrecker. |

Hi guys, So I recently made the trip back to my father's land, and having been around some places and seeing how things are, so many things shocked me about the culture here. Especially the nature and business of owning and developing a land. Here's the story: My dad purchased a land in the early 80s for around 4 digits x,Bleep. Today, the land is probably worth 7M-10M. But what I find interesting is upon developing the land, anytime my dad tries to build or add something to the construction work there, the so called "omo onile" comes with their crew to collect more money. Over the years he's spent about a quarter million paying these guys. Now today I actually went with him to go negotiate with the so called "omo onile" and I swear I was just in disdain. This man required my dad to make a payment of N800,000 to finish his roof and deck work. i thought this was absolutely ridiculous, and I was shocked to find out that there are no laws in place to protect buyers from this sort of extortion. On the way back my dad explained to me that this is the norm/culture here. This practice have been going on for decades he says. It's just the way it is. And according to him, you can never fight with this guys, your best bet is to make them happy and pay them so you can finish your construction. And the longer you take constructing, the more money you'll have to cough out down the line. I also asked around about this practice and again to my shock, the crazy stories that I'm hearing. I've heard stories of how the "omo onile" would sell a land to several people at the same time or they would first sell to one person, and then steal it up from under him and sell to a different party. Also you can't really take these guys to court because they are likely to win the case.. WHAAT? This is extortion in my view and Call me JJC, but this to me should be illegal. But this is just one of the many bad cultures I feel is bringing Nigeria backwards. If our first instinct is to extort and take from each other just to get ahead, how do you expect the country to move forward as a whole? yet we keep praying for a better change. |
If you stay abroad, Niaja go get worse and worse. Abeg come home. I was in a similar predicament, having spent the last 12 yrs in the states. I was always reluctant to come back home because of the the situation here. But the real is, this people here will never make it better. They are conditioned to extort and take from each other to get ahead. YOU've been exposed to a far better life, and it's time to come home and make a little change. This is my opinion. I wouldn't recommend just moving your family in all at once permanently. I would suggest going in and out from time to time, start a business here or something. Things that can help the economy and youth here. Trust me after sometime, you'll be comfortable enough to move around as you like. And don't pay attention to the constant negative news about Nigeria. Yes they are true, but crimes are committed in South Africa where you are too. I wouldn't make a decision, or change my mind solely on kidnapping stories. |
He prayed for the criminals that they should be successful in harming/killing other people? really this is too funny. |
I think you waited far too long. And I understand it takes courage to tell a sibling something like that. But it is what it is. I really wanted to say that some things are better left unsaid, but the TRUTH is secrets like this usually always comes out, and it will really SUCK for you if she heard it from somewhere else. The ONLY wrong you've done here is NOT telling your sister in time, we all have flings and you shouldn't be guilty of that. YOU SHOULD LET YOUR SISTER KNOW ASAP! |
She certainly has my vote. |
It may be your daytime running light. Most cars in the last decade already have it on automatically. So you may be wrong on your assumption that people turn it on just for the heck of it. |
Well for me, the Meat is the whole meal so I guess I eat it first and last. |
I speak to my mom every nite. She insists I call her @ least once a day. I mean for the woman who has always put me first, I don't think it's too much for her to ask. |
well damn. |
kokoA: Mtcheeww.. Na so dem go arrange appetizing poster, person go rush go buy the film e no go see anything.. Our actresses ain't bold enough jare.LMAO. Na truth u talk. |
From a film maker stand point I actually think it's somewhat of a step up. HERE'S THE BITTER TRUTH FELLOW NIGERIANS, UNLESS RULES ARE BROKEN, YOUR COUNTRY WILL NEVER MOVE FORWARD. I think it's a good thing for the industry. Nollywood is just not a localized industry anymore, I'm glad the film makers are taking notice. |
He was one of my fav players. Congrats. |
I feel bad for the kids. But he deserves every ridicule and damages the whole universe has to offer. STOP giving jobs to uneducated officials. A 6 year old kid could have answered that question correctly. The man doesn't know the simplest sh!t about web 2.0. I bet he'll learn a thing or 2 now. |
It's called Swinging. It's very open in the western world. |
free2ryhme: Know your fraudsters and their lootsWait since when Did Hyundai become an exotic car? Or Range rover for that matter? |
Orikinla: [size=18pt]Only a military administration can tackle the Boko Haram. No Dumbass. Past Military Regimes are guilty of far more crimes and killings than Boku Haram could ever amount to. I should know, I grew up when Mr. Gap tooth and Abacha were in office. A State with a strong and undivided Military presence can shut down Boko Haram in no time. You read the article. The country's sect being heavily divided only add salt to pepper. |
They all look the same cos They all copied The iPhone, what's new? The better question is which has the best user experience? |
She too lepa jare. |
lmao this too funny. |
coolkris: Hoes will always do what hoes know how to do bestYou sound like a Dumbass. And for all you attacking the girl I mean gee, se na your bodi? for those who get tattoos they obviously mean something. It's called Art people, abeg go skul. |
African Queen Hands down. I didn't even know about the song when it first came out until I heard some white girl singing it on the train. |
I see many posts about programming works and web applications, but nothing specifically On Games. And I personally don't know of any game developers out of Nigeria. So where are you guys? show your stuff. |
Electricity is NOT Nigeria's problem to becoming a super power, Its shallow and backward thinking Citizens are. I believe Infrastructure for 24/7 Electricity can actually be built within 3 yrs in the country. I mean over a decade ago, I remember when cellphones was just the wealthy thing, now just about everybody has one, and @ an affordable price. |
WOW, just WOW.. Appalled by some of the earlier responses I read. The fact that most of you morons didn't see the opportunity in this is seriously shocking. Accusing the man of trying to buy codes for cheap. Why? why? why? why? are we Nigerians like this? This is the reason your country is moving backwards in the last 2 decades. Money money money, owo sha. Let's just say, hypothetically speaking, that Seun did run a contest just to get some cheap codes, it's still an opportunity for you upcoming programmers to show your skills, earn some money and better yet get an opportunity to work on something bigger, and potentially climb the ladder to even bigger opportunities. I mean the guy owns Nairaland, do you think he needs your code to eat? Mark Zukerberg used to code for free, even offered cheap services back in college. You wanna know how facebook really got started with hiring it's employees? They host HACKATHONS, which is still a tradition in US tech industry today. The winning Prize? FREE BOOZE. You think the participants always b*%ch about what the winning price is or the motives of the contest owner? NO they do it for the recognition and eventually get hooked up with bank rolling gigs and opportunities. Seek the opportunity, NOT the money. Don't be a greedy dumbass like most of your country men. |
