Now you are talking

Withdraw the civilians and shell the area before entering

Bomi: That story does not stop there! There is problem in Nigeria, the other day Chief of Army Staff alleged that he has problem accessing money ment for prosecution of this war, that he has to bribe from table to table in Ministry of Finance. Do you know that now for an Army officer to go on course -Senior Div, you have to bribe the senators!
And you believe this story

Pls

Why didn't Ihejirika complained of this since the present Finance minister was the same minister during Ihejirika's era

tit: I read about General Grant and the US civil war yesterday. The NA has to stay in contact with BH for sustained periods. They can replace their losses. BH cannot do so as rapidly. The losses, sabotage, ambushes and mistakes should be anticipated and planned for. I do not call for wholesale adoption of Grants WW I strategy.
In Sierra Leone, the NA fought against the Sierra Leone Army which defected and joined the rebellion against Tejan kabbah(?). Like Biafran officers, the "Sobels" doctrine was dictated by their conventional training in Sandhurst and Poms(?) etc. This must have made it easy for the NA officers to understand the enemy and deal with them.
Against BH, you are against a doctrine incumbated by the Americans in the mountains of Afghanistan. This has morphed with experience from all over the world: Chad vs Libya, Long Range Desert Patrol, Hezbollah, Aideed, Hamas, ISIL. The NA red-necks better sit down and start taking notes.
God bless you

It seems you are fast learning warfare from past wars and their major players

atlwireles: Boko haram is not fight a war, they are veterans of nothing. When we are ready to put down boko haram. We will cut them to pieces in hours. Just no complain of slaughtering northerners., because that what its going to take, to bring peace to the northeast.
The issue you failed to see is that this guys have studied our military and discovered how to overcome them

Let me help you out

Do you know that military superior Libya lost a war to military inferior Chad

How

The French taught them how to exploit Toyota mounted Anti-aircraft weapons to over Libya armoured units

These guys are using the same strategy in a modified form against our troops and we keep responding in old fashion tactics.

Have suggested the creation of a Guerrilla Division armed with specially made long range guns to move in small numbers at night , search and snipe BH commanders only and call in long range rockets to destroy BH camps scattered in the North East

tit: Bh is not foolish.
They have battle hardened veterans from the ME. This is the information age. BH is getting info about tactics and strategy from Hezbollah, Hamaz, Al Shabab, etc. They are not just ignorant peasants.
The NA should stop trying to fight ECOMOG in the NE.
They should study our enemy and defeat him.

atlwireles: Superior weapons used against boko haram terrorist dressed like a woman hiding in a market? Okada riders shooting from behind schools and people's house. Hamas comes to mind, we have to decide what we call victory with boko haram. Most of boko haram fighting is done in villages, towns and cities, with high civilian population . New superior weapons will not help. If we are are not ready, to live with very high collateral damage.
What of Gwazo Damboa etc

What of the attack on Giwa barrack

Sir

BH are now fighting in conventional style

In Borno

BH are now attacking in regular military styles

atlwireles: The Nigerian army killed without looking back in Liberia and sierra lone. Imagine gwoza been Liberia, Everybody will either be dead or the whole place burnt down. That was how we won in Liberia. Odi kind of invasion. Most Liberians would tell you today, Nigeria forces were worse than the rebels. If Nigerians want a victory over boko haram, there is an army template ready to carry it out.
Comrade

Have being studying the Nigerian military for years

Nigerian military has not fought a military/rebel that cared to neutralise her key assets which are 1) airpower 2) tanks 3) artilleries 4) mass attack.

BH has studied the military and has seen this weakness which they are exploiting to the fullness

Mark my words

If you buy the army the weapons used by BH, victory is not certain

What the boys are asking for are superior weapons because they know from experience that if they are on the same technology with BH, their chances of winning is slim.

Nigeria military has won are wars with superior technology/numbers. This is the second time they are facing an enemy that have found a way to neutralise their strength.

The first enemy to exploit this weakness to their advantage were Niger Delta militants.

bushdoc9919: I haven't....but I am the son of lecturers...and I know that there is more to the story (Farooq Kperogi has a good set of articles on the matter).

But let's be honest.....facilities are bad....and facilities need money. Which govt does not have. (If they did...then the N3trillion promised universities in 2009 would have been no problem).

In earlier posts....I have established that Lagos may need to spend up to 25% of its budget on just the university to ensure that fees stay low. (We have not even mentioned the other state tertiary institutions it owns like the polytechnic!). That's money it does not have...corruption notwithstanding.

So it is either fees go up....or we raise taxes...or we raise education's share of the budget to 30%.

A student on a N25000 BSc cannot compete with a Nigerian with a foreign degree worth N6million per annum.

As Mark Amaza put it in this article: Rich Kid, Poor Kid: The Fallacy Of Educational Subsidies In Nigeria
I don't know your parents field of study. One thing I know is that most lecturers are old fashion when it comes to education

Sir

As an engineering-technologist I can authoritatively tell you that real/computer simulated videos which are cheaper/effective/efficient can replace real engineering-technological equipments to a large extent

For the sciences it can partially replace it. I used the word partial because of the compulsory experimentation skills that must be acquired in order to sharpen ones laboratory skills. But remember, that watching the video is better than the present lecturing system of not having mental picture of what one is being taught.

So my brother

ASUU is unknowning asking the govt to improve an old fashion educational system which is expensive and less effective/efficient.

Finally ask yourself

Why are private higher institutions not yielding desired graduates we desire to see in our nation.
PoliticsRe: Big Shame About LASU by EasternLeopard: 2:59pm On Aug 11, 2014
bushdoc9919: Well...the problem is that in 2009 ASUU agreed with FG that FG would give them N3 trillion in extra funding for universities.

Fast foward to 2013...and not only was the money not paid...but Govt told ASUU that they would give them 1 trillion over five years.

Thus.....high fees became inevitable.

Truth is...we cannot subsidize students like we used to in the 70's when the total number of students nationwide was just 90,000. So its fees go up....or taxes go up.
You are not seeing the bigger picture

Higher school fees do not translate to effective/efficient education

Look at the graduates of private higher institutions how many of them if given 100 million naira can open a small/medium scale factory that produces state of the art marketable products, creating wealth/jobs

My friend

Have you ever worked in the educational system

When you do, this doctrine of higher school fees you hold unto would be discarded
PoliticsRe: Big Shame About LASU by EasternLeopard: 1:39pm On Aug 11, 2014
Am ashame of you guys who thinks increasing school fees is the solution to our universities/polytechnics

Fellow Nigerians

If you like increase the school fees to. 10 000 000 naira per year it won't achieve much

How educational system is faulty faulty faulty

Teach our kids - undergraduates how things work/ how they are produced, and in 20yrs, we would have people opening small scale production businesses that creates wealth/jobs for employers/employees

Finally

Nigerians think

How many graduates of private higher institutions can compete with graduates of other nations

How many can design / produce useful things
PoliticsRe: Wives, Children Stop Military Trucks Conveying Soldiers To Fight Boko Haram by EasternLeopard: 12:06pm On Aug 11, 2014
prophetone: The only reason you claim soldiers got their jobs through'Man-know-Man' is because it's the NIGERIAN army. Yet you forget it is this same NIGERIAN army that restored peace in Sierra-Leone, Liberia, Darfur and were the backbone of ECOMOG, yet you debasingly call them 'inferior troops'. Our boys are still Deadly Fighters that are crippled by apatesian corruption and high-level sabotage and heaven knows what else in the Army.
Nigeria military was fortunate to fight with rebel groups that failed to acquire Anti-aircraft guns to neutralise the airforce.

If they had done so, the Nigerian military won't have won the war or the military would have won it at great price/time

So in your myopic mind you think a well armed South can be overrun by BH

For your info

BHs are still fighting inferior troops who got their jobs through Man-Know-Man system

Their main aim is to take over borno ,this issue is no longer about apc or pdp but a real war against a rebel movement
What you and I should pray for is that BH take over the far North and declare Arewanistan republic

seguntijan: The acronym APC and PDP are popularly known and represent the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party respectively. For clarity, the immune system is a system of biological structures and processes within an organism that protects against disease (for example, the white blood cells) while an antigen is any substance which provokes an adaptive immune response.

An antigen is often foreign or toxic to the body (for example, a bacterium, even Ebola virus).

The immune system acts by gathering information. When a bacteria or virus attacks the body for the first time, it takes the immune system unawares, over powers the immune system and harms the body, but once the immune system is aware of the bacteria or virus by gathering information, it develops the capacity to resist the bacteria or virus.

This is exactly the case with the APC and PDP. In Ekiti state, PDP which is the antigen (virus) attacked the APC (Nigerian immune system) with its military, thuggery and resource powers. The PDP used security agents to arrest, abuse and intimidate leaders of the APC and Ekiti people. They used the national resources to buy bags of rice, salt and even Indomie which they shared with people in exchange for their votes taking advantage of the hunger and poverty they afflicted Nigerians with.

Before we could say “Jack”, the PDP moved to Adamawa state where they illegally impeached the former governor, Murtala Nayako, in a Gestapo style. They deployed the national resources and military might, as usual. It was another virus that the immune system was not aware of and so it was able to do havoc. Nigerians suffered another loss.

They PDP moved to Nasarawa state to strike with its deadly virus, but the APC (Nigerian immune system) has developed enough strength to withstand the onslaught. The impeachment plot failed woefully as the people of Nasarawa resisted them while the Governor proved he was not in any way guilty of the frivolous allegations against him.

Yesterday, it was the turn of Osun state to be snatched in a commando style with the same Military might and national resources. Little did the PDP (virus) know that the APC (Nigerian immune system) has positioned itself to fight against any future attack. The people of Osun stood their ground and defeated the PDP.

The people are no longer afraid of the guns. The people have learned that the resources belong to them and are ready to collect the billions of Naira shared with them with gratitude and still vote for their preferred candidate. This is the beginning of a new era. The dawn of a new day and the viral attack will no longer cause havoc in the body. Nigerians are free. Congratulations to Osun people and all Nigerians.
Let's thank God that GEJ respected the choice of the people unlike OBJ who imposed candidates

Up GEJ

wizzy11: If you were to ask me, I would suggest Elections should be conducted this way in this Country.
Since there are 36 states, Then INEC should cut out 4 Saturday's, and break the states into 9 states each Saturday.

Thus it becomes easy for every one (the entire country) to zoom in on the various 9 states per Saturday, with enough Security/ Observers to oversee The election, hence there won't be so much chances of rigging or falsifying election results.

Well for the Presidential election, INEC can come up with another formula.

With Osun and Ekiti attracting so much attention from Observers around the country, we all can see the outcome.
If Elections are being conducted with less Security on ground, and not so many observers, to oversee the remote areas.

Election would no doubt be manipulated.

I am not a party supporter, or a fan of any of these politicians because they are all the same water boiling in different kettle.
But i would give credit to The president, because i can remember vividly the experience i had during OBJ's tenure.
I can tell you that then, It was a forceful leadership. You either take it or leave it as the ruling party would win.
After that, they head to the tribunal and then it takes another two years for the true winner to be declared (if he is lucky).
Wisdom in full galery

We need to divide our states elections into 12 saturdays in order to conduct election in 3 states per saturday making it possible to put more security/observers on ground.
