Hello
Please proceed with your TB test with the soon-to-expire passport.
But kindly note that when your new passport comes out you'll have to go back to IOM to update the passport number on your certificate. THIS SERVICE COST 8,500.
And also note that the TB certificate has a 6months validity, so plan accordingly.
Cheers...... (duchess90 hope I spelt the "cheers" correctly?) I speak from experience. The person can proceed with his/ her old passport for the TB test. No need wasting N8,500.I entered the UK with my new passport and my TB certificate containing the details of my old passport without any issues at passport control. |

I want to thank everyone here. I can’t thank you guys enough for insights and directions. All the information I used came from here alone. I followed 2 threads from page 1 to the last page and kept following up. I made a lot of screenshots and saved them on my phone so I don’t have to ask when I eventually get to the stage. God bless you guys! Congratulations. Saving of screenshots is a very smart thing to do. I used the same approach. It is quite annoying when people keep asking the same questions over and over again when someone else has already answered those questions. |

Adunnishugar: Good evening house Please is it true that a dependent can’t board a flight without PTA And does this apply to students too That is so untrue. I travelled with my dependent daughter without PTA. Nobody (students and dependents) is required to buy PTA. It is optional. |

OluAjo: Hello Everyone,
This will be quite a long read. Collection Mail: 13th January, 2022. Visa Granted!
I applied for student visa August 2020 but it was refused because my CAS was cancelled by the University. I called the University to tell them I couldn't meet the resumption date since I had not gotten my Visa and I was informed I'd be deferred to January 2021.
I called the UKVI to inform them that my CAS had been cancelled and the lady on the phone asked if I wanted to withdraw my application. I told the lady that the withdrawal will take a while before I get my passport back but I'm okay with a refusal so I can get my passport back immediately.
Two days later, I was refused but I wasn't bothered so I reapplied with priority in November 2020 so as to avoid the long processing time.
I was scheduled for a phone interview on the 5th day and I answered all the questions but I was refused.
The reasons given were blatant lies saying I didn't know much my fees was and didn't know what my sponsor did for a living.
I applied for AR and it was refused, did PAP - the refusal was upheld.
I proceeded to Judicial Review then the lies were upgraded to "the applicant states NEVER to return back to Nigeria." The Judge asked for the recording of my phone interview be presented the following week.
By the following week, the transcript of the phone interview shown I clearly stated how much my fees was and what my sponsor did for a living. No where was it stated that I'd never come back to Nigeria. Instead I said it was my plan to return back to Nigeria to open a Consultancy firm.
The legal representative for the Home Office reached out to the Barrister representing me and myself (email) asking to settle outside court. The Barrister asked if I was okay with a settlement, I said Yes but wanted them to pay all the cost I incurred during the JR process and a new decision be made.
It was agreed and signed.
July 2021, a new CAS was requested for September 2021. I was asked to provide it within a week.
The University took a while to reply, before they provided a new CAS I was refused again. I WAS LIVID. I sent the Home Office an email telling them I'd follow it up to JR and this time THERE WOULD BE NO SETTLEMENT OUTSIDE COURT.
I applied for AR and it took 3 months before it was successful. I got several emails of apologies and passport was requested for November 10.
I submitted my passport 10th November, 2021. Collection email: 13th January, 2022.
This journey started August, 2020. [quote author=OluAjo post=109337612]Wow. Now if that is not a fine example of a breakthrough. What a testimony. I say a big congratulations to you. All the best for the remaining hurdles. |

orshore: Good morning . Please advice , My wife’s passport will expire by December 2022 and she’s going for September intake . Can she apply for visa with the old passport before renewing it ? What do you suggest please If she is going for the September 2022 programme, I would advise her to renew her passport before travelling. She can however choose to apply for the visa in her current passport latest June 2022 because one can only apply for visa with a passport with at least 6 months validity at the date of application. If she cannot apply by June, then she would have to get her new passport first before applying for the visa. |

Damatik: My own passport is also expiring June 2022 but still awaiting Visa decision. I have also applied for another passport. But my main concern is that to collect the new one when ready, they will stamp the old one with Visa as cancelled. so can we present that at airport to any immigration officer. Hope it won't raised any red flags. Has any one been able to travel with old passport containing the visa vignette. I travelled with my old passport containing my vignette and the new one. It is not an issue as the new passport always references the old passport number in the data page |

OluAjo: Please advise.
quote author=OluAjo post=109277632]Please I need your advice.
My passport is going to expire by June 2022. My visa vignette is on this passport.
I'm thinking of getting a new passport here in Nigeria (getting passport in the UK is quite expensive) before I travel to the UK but I'm afraid this might cause immigration issues.
Please, What do you advise? If you have time on your side, please process it in Nigeria before you travel. My vignette is also in a passport expiring in April this year.I did a bit of research about how long it takes to process it at the Nigerian Embassy in London and was informed that it may take 4 to 6 months because of backlog of applications arising from Covid. Since there was a lot of uncertainty which meant I would not be able to travel without a passport while in the UK, I processed the new one in Nigeria and received it within 8 days. |

justwise: Its not only couples that come to the UK to study, single mothers also do, the only difference is how you present your case
A mother can travel with kids without their daddy IF and IF you put in place a plan for those kids, consent letter alone is not enough.
The biggest question you need to answer is...who will look after those kids while you are at the university?
Did you make childcare/school arrangement for them? Have the money? Have evidence of all that? [quote author=justwise post=109266092]Hello Justwise. I believe we are on the same side of the argument. I never said single mothers cannot come. They can come to the UK with the children but they still have to show proper evidence that they have sole custody of the children. In most cases a document authorising or endorsing that from the Court is what the ECOs look out for. I know this because I sought paid professional advice for this. The living arrangements is also equally important like you rightly pointed out and I did have to show evidence of arrangements of such too. Thanks for adding your voice to the matter. |

I really am not a regular here but when I see enquiries and/or responses that are similar to my experience, I like to just lend my voice to the debate before a costly mistake is made. It is up to the viewers to take it or leave it. I learnt a lot from this page when I was processing my student visa and it is my own way of returning the favour. Ciao. |

LuchiBianca: I did and I see no where it was said a mother cannot travel alone with the kids with the father's consent. Take it from me first hand as I went through this experience recently. YOU CANNOT TRAVEL WITH CHILDREN ON A STUDENT VISA IF THE OTHER PARENT IS NOT COMING EXCEPT THE OTHER PARENT IS DEAD, THE STUDENT SHOWS PROOF (court evidence) THAT SHE HAS SOLE CUSTODY FOR THE CHILDREN OR THE ECO IS CONVINCED THAT IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILDREN TO TRAVEL WITH YOU (This particular test is very subjective and open to different interpretation). I emphasise here a consent letter will not suffice. I submitted 2 different consent letters (one signed by my daughter's father solely and the second signed by both parents) and I still received a NSF mail. In conclusion I had to involve a UK immigration lawyer to sort out the application before things were messed up and here we are now in the UK. |

meeday07: It depends on your study gap. If your study gap is 5 years or more, I will advise you upload them to avoid delay in your visa bcus they might ask for them. I don't think they will ask for extra document once you upload your employment history with your application. But whatever you upload, avoid uploading your pay slip I never submitted anything related to my employment history even though I had a 15 year gap and I still got my visa. But then again everyone's case is different |

Also, its a family of 4 but the 1st child is American so the dont want to do a visa for her but she will go with them is it possible Asking for a friend!!! Am already in uk, but i know this is the plaxe to get all the answers. I will really appreciate a prompt reply cos the want to start asap. Thanks. To your question about the American kid, the answer is yes she can go like that but note the following. My daughter is also American and I had to apply for a visa for her because she is staying in the UK beyond 3 months which is the same as 'your FRIEND'S KID.' Save yourself or your FRIEND as you put it, the stress of trying to get your daughter a visa in the UK because the immigration officer would definitely raise that at the point of entry even if they let her in. If you don't get her a visa by the fourth month, you/ she would have breached the immigration rules. Do you want that to happen? I guess Not. |

SpencerX: Good evening, please I need information on UK student visa ,I want to sponsor my fiance for master in UK and I want to go as dependent maybe 4month after and we're not married yet and planning to get married after the apply for her visa and visa granted (All on God) Please can anyone enlighten me on the process Can I actually be her sponsor then get married after visa result is out(All on God)
Thanks Civil Partnership is recognised in the UK and I believe this is where your fiance and you currently fall under. As long as you can show evidence that you are in a committed relationship (pictures, chats, joint ownership of assets and/or evidence of living together), you can even apply as her dependant before the marriage. If you however you want to wait to apply after the marriage, just make sure you don't apply later than 6 months after her visa was issued. |

jobinto: How someone came here and said he got PTA with one way ticket by presenting his admission letter and some people have been deceived to think it was true, booked one way tickets and now banks are telling they need a return ticket to be eligible for PTA is fucking crazy. Not sure that person had actually purchased PTA that way. I believe he/ she was advising based on CBN's directives which Banks don't necessarily adhere to. I went to 3 different banks to ask if I could use a one way ticket and my student visa to get PTA and they all said NO. So I was forced to buy a return ticket just so that I could get PTA. When I calculated the cost of changing at black market vs buying a return ticket, it made more economic sense to buy a return ticket. The good thing is one can use the ticket up to one year after purchase. I really would advise anyone that wants PTA to just buy a return ticket. |

Uzonma: Hello house Please which bank can give me pounds for PTA Instead of dollars? Most bank claim that dollars is what's readily available to them Banks no longer give Pounds for PTA since about July this year. You can only get pounds from the Black Market or you travel with your dollars and change it with a BDC when you arrive the UK. |
