JahMan1: I am still in Nigeria because they omitted my son's passport/visa when our own came out. So my wife had to leave with other two to resume school. Yes, I was advised it is better to apply with the whole family or the student alone first. However, we have stories of people who didn't apply with spouse and still got visa. You need the father to sign a consent form that you can travel with your daughter.
All the best. Thank you. |

Patnuel2015: There is no rule that state all of you must apply at same time. You can do that if you want, it's your choice. However, you alone can apply then you family apply later. Also you and you child can apply at same time while your husband applies later. It all depends on what you guys want. Although you should know that if you are not applying together with your husband but with you child, a consent letter must be sign by both you and your husband. So choose which is convenient for you. Thanks once again for your input. However, Kindly review ST 34.2 carefully to understand why I am cautious. I have been travelling for visits with my daughter alone without any issues previously but this is a student dependent application and the rules are clear on the requirements. Consent Letter may not be sufficient here. The subsection (c) clause is not an objective test and i do not want to risk it because what may be serious and compelling to me may not be to an ECO. I also do not have sole custody neither is her father dead so I do not meet the exceptions listed under (a) and (b). Hope you now understand.

Ebalafaa: Honestly, your comment is spot on!!! People that are doing the honest and right thing are being denied, while those 'arranging POF' are being granted. Strange stuff right there.
Thanks for your advice. I plan to contact the school on this on Monday. In my case, I sent the letter from Prodigy Finance to the Finance team and they have ticked off the finance condition for me earlier this month. I am optimistic that by God's grace, the school would give me a receipt evidencing receipt of that amount (though disbursement is not till October) so I can use in lieu of the loan letter.
This is why I am grateful for this thread and everyone who is willing to contribute and share their experiences (positive or negative). God bless you all.
I would keep the house updated on developments so that others can also be guided.
@Tolvin hang in there. Do you still have some time for late resumption? Please speak to your school....I believe it is not yet the end. I agree. Thank you. |

harrrry: Thanks for the link. It stated that ...... or one has permission to stay in the UK , meaning the main applicant must be in possession of valid UK Visa. Yes I know that. In my case I did not intend to apply with my daughter's father - none of the parents is in the UK, hence my question. |

Tolvin: For Prodigy Finance to disburse the funds to the school, you'd need to have arrived on campus to sign the loan agreement. So, no disbursement till you get to the university and there's no way you can get to the school without having received your visa. Hence, the visa application. A friend of mine used Prodigy for Netherlands visa application and he got it. But the UK is different from the Netherlands.
I honestly want to believe it's an error from the ECO and I would have applied for AR but I had to return the funds in my bank account and my passport had exactly 8months to expiration when I applied for my visa. If I had applied for AR, my passport would be less than six months to expiration. However, you can get a letter from the university attesting to the Prodigy Finance loan letter.
I have deferred my admission to January entry and I will get the full funds in my bank account to present to UKVI.
I actually had thesame loan letter and I presented it to them. You can go ahead to apply with an additional letter from the school if that could help or you decide the get the full funds, wait for 28days and apply. I pray everything comes out successful Thank you for your detailed response, Tolvin. You seem like someone who is solution oriented. I really pray everything works out well for you and you make it in January by God's grace. What school is this anyway? I would reach out to my school for a receipt because they have ticked off the financial condition for me on pegagus and I have been attending lectures. I also signed the loan agreement online and Prodigy has acknowledged receipt advising me that they would disburse to the school and the school has also confirmed this. It is just my visa that is pending for me to complete online registration and I plan to pay for super priority next week when POF for my maintenance would have reached 28 days on Monday. |

Dammyope126: @Justwise and all, I was the one who that shared my refusal letter some weeks back. I got very useful advice from here. At a point I wanted to give up but God came through. Got a new CAS and re-applied, decision came out positive in 7days. Thanks to everyone and particularly those that suggested I apply for a new CAS rather than AR.

JahMan1: My wife and kids flew Turkish Airline Thursday night and are in the UK since yesterday, even earlier than expected. Thank God for a safe trip. Please I need some clarification from you....Are you still in Nigeria? Did you apply with your wife and children? I know the rules require both parents to apply with the children at the same time or one parent must already be in the UK. Just want to be properly guided on how best to go about this to meet the 'serious and compelling' condition under the UKVI rules why my daughter has to travel with me without her father. I originally wanted to apply with only my daughter but seems I cannot do that with ease. Kindly reply. |

Jaylo79: People that are actually getting real loans are being sidelined… making the buying of POF dominant. I believe you should actually get a letter or advice from the school. Honestly, your comment is spot on!!! People that are doing the honest and right thing are being denied, while those 'arranging POF' are being granted. Strange stuff right there. Why not explore the option of an administrative review on the strength of FIN 9.2 (f) and (g)? ECOs are humans who are susceptible to mistakes too and perhaps this was an oversight on the part of the ECO. Perhaps the interpretation the person gave was myopic and experience has shown even on this thread, AR have subsequently overruled their previous decisions. Just my two cents on this. |

Tolvin: Prodigy Finance What ?? It is the same one I have. But the UKVI rules say you can use a student loan letter as POF. Is it because of the condition in foot prints on the attached letter you were refused? I think you should get the school involved and/or ask for administrative review. I am really sorry about this for you. This is making me unsettled because I planned to apply on Tuesday. So that I and other people here can learn from your experience, please I would need additional clarification from you. Prodigy Finance is regulated by the FCA and the rules say the company granting the loan should be regulated by the FCA. Why then are they rejecting it? What then is the way forward? Would an additional letter from your school confirming acceptance of the loan from Prodigy Finance and advance disbursement help or would have helped?

Please can you shed more light on the student loan letter because I intend to use one.Which company approved the loan for you and what reason did UKVI give for refusing to accept it? |

aamey15: Good day everyone, please i am abit new here so kindly bear with me. I did my masters in UK ( Business Analysis) in 2011 and i intend to proceed for an MBA now in 2022 but i heard that Uk has a rule that if you have done a masters before you cant progress with a new masters unless there is a clear career progression. I should also mention that I currently have my business that i have been running for over 6 years and its quite successful so i actually think i need this MBA to progress in my business.
My question is, 1, is it possible to do an MBA 10 years after concluding a masters in the uk. Does this show career progression? 2. Can i proceed with the application with the hope of going with my family (5).
Thank you [quote author=Ebalafaa post=105857111]1.That position about an additional masters is subjective and each individual's case is different. I would say it is not a straight No. For example, I obtained a UK Masters in 2006 and I am going for my MBA this September. As long as your school is able to establish the fact that your 2nd Masters shows genuine plans for career progression ( which I believe is the case with you) , you would get your CAS and eventually your visa. 2.Yes you can as long as you can show maintenance funds enough to cover them, yourself and funds for your tuition; Inaddition that you have no adverse records against you (criminal). Go ahead and apply. All the best. |

fetomowo: I don't know the whole context around the questions you are asking, so it's a bit difficult to say yes or no.
Do you have your CAS already? Are you bidding time for PoF? Is this 27th of September deadline for Enrolment in the course? The 6th of September is in a few days. If that's the date on your CAS as start date and you may not meet up with visa application, it's better you let your school's International Compliance and Admission Team know, they may decide to issue you a CAS with a late course start date, or they may ask you to go ahead with you visa application.
I totally agree with you. Context is important for one to answer correctly.
He can get clarity on all his concerns directly from the school not here. That 27th September date is ambiguous and does not indicate if it is the latest date for enrolment, registration or arrival at school/in the UK. The date on CAS statement may be different from the actual date of last registration and arrival. |

caleb00: I need advice, I was using my dads account as POF but my dad died recently and I want to know the best step to take
Would I still be able to get a recent bank statement from his bank or should I send the money to many account and start another 28 days, considering my course starts this month Sincere condolences on your dad's passing. May his soul rest in peace. It is a pity this is happening at a time like this. To be honest once the Bank becomes aware of your dad's passing, they would put a Post No Debit (PND) on his account until they receive a letter of administration(if he died without a Will) or a grant of probate for execution of his Will (if he had a Will) to release the funds in the account to his estate. Either ways, you would not be able to access the funds in his account immediately. My suggestion...if you do have access to your dad's account and he truly wanted to sponsor you, transfer the funds to your account immediately before the Bank puts a PND on his account and start counting your POF days again. Confirm the deadline for late registration and resumption from your school so that you can be guided for better planning. I think your immediate family members should be carried along so that you are not accused of trying to pilfer from your dad in future. All the best. |

Silent reader too and first post on nairaland.
Many congratulations. I have been looking out for a mother who applied with just her children dependents and your post made me feel like I was the one that got the visa.
Please if you don't mind me asking, how did you deal with the requirement for you to apply for your children without their father. I know that if there is a court order as a result of a divorce or if a death certificate is presented, it is pretty straightforward but when one does not fall in the category of a divorcee or the spouse is not dead, what did you have to present as 'serious or compelling reason' for travelling alone with the children?
